This place is delicious and is one of my favorite spots. The staff is always friendly and the food is delicious. With Indian, the containers always look small but it is surprisingly filling. We ordered the butter chicken and the korma paneer which is chunks of cheese in a broth- a good vegetarian option. We get everything mild as we don’t do a lot of spice. The mild still has very good flavor ! We also got the garlic cheese naan which is fantastic. So warm and yummy ! Lastly we got the yellow rice (extra as the other entrees come with white jasmine rice) and it was a nice change up. We will be back soon!

Google
My favorite Indian food restaurant. Amazing dishes with plenty of flavor options for both meat eaters and vegetarians. The restaurant itself is perfect for a nice dinner with a partner and the bar is great if you're visiting solo. Several great beer choices (I get the Lizard's Mouth and Old Rasputin every time) as well as full bar. Highlights for me are the Nirvana curry, chili paneer, Pesahwari naan and curry fries, but I have never once been disappointed in anything I've ever ordered here. Great service, relaxing atmosphere and excellent food. Highly recommend to all

Google
Food was ok. Just the run of the mill taste. Service was way slow. We went for early dinner at 5.30 and it still to offer 30 mins to get our food. The waiter want reality interested in service Indians and was more information in the locals at the bar. The ambience is something that represented Indian restaurants 30 years ago. Needs a real facelift. Way too dark and dingy looking. Not going to miss it.

Google
Visited this place yesterday and place is ok. Ordered Biryani and Chili Paneer. Paneer was not soft and the dish is salty to my liking. Biryani was ok but it's more like curry rice. Had mango lassi and felt the yogurt was not fresh as it tasted sour mostly because it's the fermentation technique used. Overall it was kind of ok. Special mention to the lady as I forgot my head phones and she kept it safely.

Google
What a great experience! The staff were professional, friendly, and helpful. The gentleman who served our table, was very kind and put a smile on our faces. We really enjoyed his service and left very happy. The food was delicious. If you’re visiting Saffron Indian Cuisine & Bat and looking for a great dinner, this place is an excellent choice.

Google
This place was just exceptional. Everything we ordered was amazing—each dish had a unique flavor, and the presentation was beautiful. The atmosphere was incredible from the entrance to the back. Me and my family were truly amazed. 100% recommend this restaurant to everyone. Thank you!

Google
Exceptional Food and Outstanding Service! 😇 From the moment we walked in, the experience was top-notch. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming—our server went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed throughout the meal. Now, the food—absolutely incredible. Every dish was perfectly prepared, full of flavor, and beautifully presented.Highly recommend this place to anyone. We'll definitely be coming back!

Google
I highly recommend Saffron Indian Cuisine & Bar to anyone visiting LA. The hospitality from Uncle and Aunty is exceptional, and the Punjabi food is freshly prepared and authentic. We particularly recommend their freshly made strawberry lassi, Amritsari paratha, garlic naan, dal makhani, malai kofta, and the incredible gulab jamun. Even my picky kids loved and thoroughly enjoyed the food!

Yelp
Very good Indian Restaurant in the Newbury Park/Thousand Oaks area. The ambience is very nice and they have a nice bar area. The food is probably the best Indian food in Thousand Oaks. Definitely recommend trying the mango chicken curry, a unique and flavorful dish. It's located right next to the Ralph's grocery store. Only negative is they are closed on Sundays and wish they were open that day so I can visit them or get food from them that day.

Yelp
Just ok Indian food. We got the aloo tikki, fries, butter chicken, and vindaloo. Aloo tikki - not crispy at all, it's suppose to be like a giant hash brown, but it was all soggy. No crunch at all. The sauce was good. Fries - best dish of the meal. Fries were crispy and fluffy in the center. Butter chicken - just ok, chicken wasn't tender Lamb Vindaloo - too sour and salty. Lamb was hard to chew. Service was great, they kept coming by to see if we needed anything. Decor is a bit dark inside. Plenty of parking in this plaza.

Yelp
We love Saffron so much! We live not even 5 minutes away and have came here for many birthday, anniversary and date night dinners over the years. We can always get a table & service is top tier. It's a great mix of Indian Restaurant + Bar, great bar and patio seating, happy hour is stellar and the Lunch and Dinner combos you can never go wrong. They're usually playing an old Bollywood movie on the far wall and the ambience inside is a great escape from the "California casual" eating establishments we have so many of in the area! We've tried so many new Indian dishes here and have loved most, if not all of them but I always do come back to my Spicy Chicken Curry! Yum!
google avatar

Cheryl R.

Yelp
I love the vibe in this restaurant. Decor matches the food perfectly. Service is friendly. I enjoyed the Aviation cocktail (gin, lemon, cherry and Violette liqueur). The combination plates were generous with biryani, dal, riata and garlic naan. My butter chicken was a little heavy on the tomato, but was delicious nonetheless. My husband enjoyed the lamb korma. Medium spicy was pretty spicy for our taste. Prices were reasonable.

Yelp
Just Wow- Saffron Indian Cusine and bar in Newberry Park, California, where have you been? My friend and I arrived at 2 and they close at 2:30 to change over the kitchen to dinner. The air smelled amazing, full of spices, and we pleaded to stay to eat and promised to take what was left to go. We were welcomed and they were very gracious to serve us in such short time. The food was delicious and affordable. Potions were also generous. My friend had the kabob and the most delicious rice I've ever had. I had saag paneer and samosas that came with delicious chick peas, onion and vegetable sauce. I have never had samosas like this and I am hooked. I ordered pershwari naan and we share everything. We'd Al ost finished by 2:30 and they let us sit an extra 15 minutes to fully enjoy and digest. What a lovely place. On way back from the bathroom, I saw the wall of honor with hundreds for Polaroids showing diners eating crazy spicy food. This was fun to look at. I'd love to try this place for dinner or any time. There was almost nothing left to go. We were ravenous and the food was some of the best we've ever had. My friend is a chef and we both just were amazed at the flavors and the quality. It was definitely a made from scratch kitchen. I highly recommend. #Indian #cuisine #delicious #curry #hiddengem. #spicy

Yelp
I came here to grab food before heading home, saw the good reviews and decided to give them a try. I wasn't really impressed with the food. They have happy hour and I was advised that it would take 20 to 25 minutes, so I decided to grab an appetizer while waiting for the food to be ready. I got the chicken pakoora and I wasn't really impressed. My husband got his usual butter chicken and I got another chicken dish, don't recall when it was, but I wasn't really impressed. I may give them another try.

C W.

Yelp
Let me start with we ordered delivery and the food arrived hot and the flavors were great. This is the only reason I am giving two stars and not 1. The samosas were good but again extremely small compared to other Indian food around here. The problem is the amount of food for the price. We ordered chicken tikka masala and butter chicken and both had 5 pieces of chicken each, not even enough for two people to have a serving. I am guessing they put a half a chicken breast in each. Then there was the mixed vegetable korma that is made of frozen or canned peas and carrots and canned corn and nothing else. Super disappointing overall. Due to the cost and lack of food, this place is not worth it unfortunately.

Yelp
I feel that there's not enough good Indian food in the area, so super excited to have Saffron to add to my rotation! Right off the bat, love that they have a full bar - I was honestly surprised by how large it actually is. Plenty of different options to meet whatever your feeling that day. Large menu with many delicious options. Love their butter chicken, especially when you have some na'an to dip in it. Yum! Plus their samosas were tasty with the perfect crisp. Grabbed the rice pudding and Gulab Jamun for dessert. Both had just the right amount of sweet and were a great way to end our dinner. Service was great. Parking is easy in the lot right outside. Recommend stopping by for dinner.

Yelp
I ordered the Saffron vegetarian delight with garlic naan(so good) and rice pudding to go. The environment was clean. Lots of live plants. And a very explanative guy took my order. A bunch of interesting things on the walls and plenty of different places to sit. One room feels like many. Neat setup. There are a bunch of things to choose from on the menu. Comfortable waiting area. I recommend trying this spot.

Yelp
Food: 5 Service: 4 Ambiance: 5 This is by far my favorite Indian restaurant ever. The food is incredible and the interior is gorgeous with Bollywood movies projected onto a screen in the back and lanterns hung around. It would make for such a cute date night place. There's nothing on this menu I wouldn't try as everything is always delicious. Special shout out to the curry fries and mango lassi
google avatar

Anita C.

Yelp
I have been here about 4-5 times and every time it's fantastic! So much flavorful and everything is cooked fresh daily! The service is good and everyone is super nice. They have combinations of many different options on their menu which is nice to try many different foods! Also ORDER the pani puri! So refreshing and delicious

Michelle M.

Yelp
The owner was very warm and friendly. The food was fantastic, and the atmosphere makes you feel like you're in a different country. Great experience I would definitely go back.

Yelp
Amazing service the man was super helpful at explaining what in the buffet was dairy free and offered to make me other alternatives. Garlic naan with the buffet and a drink. It was a great experience the guy was very attentive and asking if we needed more bread or anything. Ensuring we got the most out of our buffet experience. The interior is very nice as well with beautiful colors all around.

Yelp
This maximalist Indian bar and grill offers stimulation with a capital S. There is a giant flatscreen TV on a wall showing 90s Bollywood hit songs and a playful interior dotted with a straight-from-Punjab tumbi and Jago chhajj that reminds me of a traditional Indian pub in Southall. Plus, the food is just fun. Channa bhatura, pani puri, and bhel puri are street food options in India, but this is the first north-of-the-valley joint that actually serves them up in traditional Punjabi style. Expect all the usual favourites like dal makhani, curries, and doughy, butter-brushed naan cooked exceedingly well. A myriad of lamb options for the finicky carnivores. And loads of standout, traditionally seasoned vegan options for dedicated Angelenos. Tandoori paneer are beautifully layered with a light tandoori masala vs. a typically heavier yoghurt marinade, making it a light snack to enjoy before dinner. And our favorite is a bountiful veg biriyani--colourful veggies, brimming with saffron, fluffy rice, and a touch of herbaceous spices. Definitely add on an order of the homemade gulab jamun, which melts in your mouth with its rich and decadent texture crafted to perfection. Add in impeccable service, fair prices, and inventive dishes from the husband/wife owners and you have an elevated Indian eatery you'll want to go to often as an escape from the mediocrity of those Indian valley options.

Yelp
Come for the amazing food and a vibrant community! Rachel who tends the bar is so friendly. She even did the artwork for a unique ambiance! Best service in town!!

Holly F.

Yelp
I love their food but I ordered delivery and they gave me the wrong food. When I called to tell them and ask for refund or new delivery, they said no. I had to go pick it up or call next time and say they owe me a free chicken tikka masala. Like I'm just supposed to go on their word. Ok Jonathan. Great customer service.

Yelp
Ambiance is cool, i like how the food is authentic. This yelp page needs to be updated, they no longer have a buffet and their specials hafe no timeframe. I do not recommend the kofta, it tasted over microwaved and hard to chew. Their aloo gobi was really tasty! Pass on the daal its boring. Make sure you check your napkins before using them, one of the ones we got was super dity and had hair. Im apalled it got mixed with clean linen.
google avatar

Ilan E.

Yelp
Came here to try the lunch buffet and everything was delicious! When you walk in, you are greeted by the amazing smells from the kitchen and the vibrant decor and music in the restaurant. The buffet options were great and they had options for everyone. My favorites were the chicken vindaloo, yellow daal, and Punjabi samosa. The garlic naan was also so garlicky and fragrant. Excited to recommend this place to family and friends and come back soon to try new dishes.

Yelp
I tried this location, and I was able to try a few items on the menu that night. I have the tandoori chicken, the butter chicken, basmati rice, and their garlic naan bread. The butter chicken was too sweet for me, it to me, tasted like Chef Boyardee SpaghettiOs. The rice is basic rice, but it was done well and I enjoyed it. The tandoori chicken was delicious. The garlic naan was OK. I think next time I would get the cheese bread instead. Or maybe garlic cheese lol. There are still lots of other things on their menu that I would go back and try. The staff was really nice and welcoming and helpful and explaining items on their menu. The decor was fun and authentic, and they have a huge screen where they play Bollywood movies in the background. I will go back and try other things and recommend people try it out.

Yelp
PET FRIENDLY I've been here once before, and the food is so delicious, the servers are very friendly, the owner greets you, and overall great for families or taking somebody out on a Friday night .
google avatar

Yelp
First time ordering online and I really appreciated the packaging. I ordered garlic naan, basmati rice, and medium spicy chicken tikka masala and I'm glad my hot masala was not in plastic. The paper cup they put the sauce and chicken in didn't leech out plastic toxins and it stayed piping hot when I got home. For the ease of ordering online and the food tasting good, I will be back.

Homa D.

Yelp
Very delicious food and friendly environment. It's our first time here and we'll definitely come back

Yelp
I came here to try the lunch buffet, and everything was delicious! I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! The lunch buffet had a great variety of options, and my favorites were the chicken vindaloo, yellow daal, and naan bread. I can't wait to recommend it to others and come back for more!

Yelp
Excellent food, particularly the Malai Kofka, which I used to get every time I was in TO. Unfortunately, I don't get out there much anymore, but it is sure worth a visit! All of the food is excellent and the chicken is always very good and fresh; nothing is too oily or greasy, which can easily happen. The combination of spices and tastes are just right. I happen to like most of my Indian dishes quite spicy, so they make it just right for my taste, medium spicy!Give it a try; I really think you'll enjoy it. I don't think I've ever eaten inside the restaurant. I always get it to take home and mix with other items, but I like the atmosphere, when I go to pick up the food, and the service has always been great, whether the restaurant is packed or empty, and it's usually pretty full. I really can't say enough good about it. I try Indian Food everywhere I go around the world; many different types and styles, and in many areas. This one ranks right up at the top! I wish I was out there more often than I am now. I miss those nights of Indian 'take out!'

Yelp
The goat curry and butter chicken was very good and we will be back. Staff is very friendly.

Yelp
I went here over the weekend and thought it was great. The food is delicious and the portion sizes are good. The service is also very good and friendly. They have a full bar with a bartender. I will def be back soon.

Yelp
Saffron has easily become one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the 805 during the pandemic and now thereafter. Found Saffron through Door Dash & realized that If take out could taste this good then this spot is truly onto something. The food here is a solid 8.5/10. Not every dish have I loved but most of them, most definitely. Their creamy dishes are honestly some of the best. It's always been a sucker for their Marsala and butter chicken dishes. They are so good and flavorful. Safe bet for sure but a crowd pleaser. Sometimes when I'm extra adventurous I do shrimp instead of chicken lol but really all of their proteins and classic sauces are good. Even the simple dishes they have perfected, the white basmati rice is always delicious and their plain naan bread is perfect with the sauces. I know I need to venture out and try more of their dishes but what I have tried is exceptional and easily it has now become one of my favorite spots for this kind of cuisine.
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
Food was a little mixed for us but the stuff we did like was good. The mild is absolutely no heat so definitely recommend getting some sort of spice level on whatever food you pick if you can tolerate. We really liked the butter chicken but the tikki masala was a little on the blander side to us. Rice and garlic naan also good but we didn't care for the vegetable samosas either. Overall a few dishes we liked but also a few we would not order again. We ordered takeout so can't comment on ambiance or service at restaurant but my husband said it looked nice inside when he went to pick up.
google avatar

Claudia B.

Yelp
Darn it !! We tried the Indian food from Saffron and really liked the food. So why is THAT a problem? Well, they did something that is incredibly annoying to me. To be fair, they are NOT the only Indian restaurant to do this, either, but it irks me all the more knowing that. We ordered takeout, and they loaded a (small) container with mostly sauce and then dropped in 8 small - medium sized chunks of meat... for each dish. There were two of us, and we like to share, so that meant 4 pieces each of chicken in the chicken tikka masala... and 4 pieces each of lamb in the lamb korma. (I want you to know that I purposely counted the meat chunks because of the problem I have encountered.) Granted, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the sauces from these dishes, and half the fun is taking the naan bread and sopping up the delectable sauces. We also ordered saffron rice, surprisingly on the smallish side, and sag paneer, so overall, we ate well and were completely full when done. What my issue has become is that I got spoiled by the Indian restaurants of the past where they'd put in enough meat clearly for TWO meals (between 12-14 chunks) and still lots of sauce. Most of the restaurants I now order from have cut way back in what they offer, yet they are all very quick to charge more. So I end up resenting only getting 1 meal out of the deal, and I'm thinking about getting ripped off instead of how good the food tastes. It would've been a 4-5 star rating for Saffron otherwise. There is one restaurant that still offers the same large amount of meat to each order, but they aren't that close in distance, so I tend to be on the lookout for closer places, i.e., Saffron, in hopes of replacing them... but when I see the lower amounts of protein per dish, that just leaves a bad taste in my mouth even though the food was DELICIOUS. Anyway, if you don't care about any of what I mentioned, then you'll love this place.

Sky ..

Yelp
Me and my family go here everytime I come home from college and it is amazing everytime. The staff is always so kind and have come to recognize my dad and are ready with extra spicy sauce on the side for him. We usually go during the happy hour and I cannot recommend the fries with the curry enough they are amazing. The chicken 69 is also an amazing option as well!

Yelp
On a recommendation from the hotel I stayed at. Excellent Indian, very true to Mughlai style cuisine and was a very good meal. Very kind traditional staff, and kind and gracious hosts. My business partner and I had just finished another long day and this little eatery was just around the corner from where we were staying. I saw it as we were coming to our nights lodging, and confirmed with the hotel front desk staff. Yes, it was indeed a great choice. We were seated promptly, menus in hand and hot tea ordered. If your like or love traditional Northern Indian then this is the place for you. Samosas are so good, fresh crispy, golden brown crust and smooth pillowy filing - very tasty. The side sauces round out the dish nicely. The Naan, just wonderful - plain was my choice, piping hot, just the right amount of tandoori char and delicious. I went for the Lamb Marsala special, its served in a traditional tray with sides, rice and naan. The lamb was so tender, it literally fell apart and rich marsala sauce unbelievably rich and flavorful, with the naan - it was very good. A Solid 4 Stars - would return and plan to 00774

Yelp
Whew! Another restaurant that made it thru the pandemic -- yes! This is a place that I've had bookmarked for years, and just didn't get a chance to go to. Last week, I was in the area and had a real cravin' for Indian food, so Saffron came to mind. Right off Ventu Park in the Ralph's shopping center, it's down the street from Amgen. Hopefully, Amgen will be at full capacity, so it gets a lunch crowd again. It's decorated very cute. With a bar to your immediate right, dining is on the left. Indian music, along with Bollywood movies give it something unique. As for vibe, not much, at least right now. But the service, was so very nice and spot on. The menu has all the usual suspects. But they have one thing unique that puts Saffron on the map: combination plates. Particularly good when dining alone, it allows you to pick an entree, rice, naan, raita, and 2 sides. For $14-16, it's an outstanding choice. I got the chicken tikka masala plate, so so good! #worthy!

Yelp
This used to be my go to Indian Restaurant but the last time we ordered it seemed the portions got much much smaller but the price stayed the same. We weren't sure if the containers were smaller or what was going on. The flavor of the food is good but we also felt like the sauces were watered down. Unfortunately, this is the second time this has happened.

Yelp
First time trying Indian food. This place was recommended my older brother that his a huge fan of this restaurant, yesterday was his birthday and wanted our whole family to try this place, we got there right on time 1:45 PM ( party of 7 ) they were offering buffet. Which is wonderful because we were able to try all their amazing and delicious food. Their service was excellent just as my brother had claimed, they checked up on us every few minutes to check if we needed any refills or any question we had. The butter chicken is to die for . My little brothers loved the naan bread we got spicy and garlic both delicious. We would totally recommend this place to our family and our friend. The ambiance was great, the music was so relaxing. Thank you to the staff and the owners. Sadly we were so distracted with the delicious food we forgot to take pictures but next time I will.

Yelp
Omg this is the best Indian food I've ever tasted in my LIFE!!!!!!! My girl took me here to celebrate our internships ending and we had a feast fit for queens. We started with the tropical martinis and the chickpea flower fried potato and kale with tomato sauce (forgot what it was called) also started with another potato and spicy sauce appetizer. We both had the butter chicken dinner and it was THEE best butter chicken I've ever tried in my life. They have the ratio down of butter to tomato to spices. Vegetable curry was sweet but savory. Rice pilaf was perfectly Al dente. The Raita and daal was also pretty bomb. The pistachio ice cream and rice pudding was a sweet ending to the evening. Very nice people who waited on us and made us feel at home. The music and decor transported you straight to Punjab. Coming back here next time I'm in Thousand Oaks!

Tammy A.

Yelp
I enjoy their food. I have enjoyed all the items I have tried. You can get a combination plate if you want a little of everything or order dishes separately. items are made according to your spice comfort level . They offer one of my favorite happy hours. Staff are very friendly and provide good service. Nice ambiance.

Yelp
It's been a while, maybe more than 6 mos, since I came back and was looking forward to delicious indian food. I ordered my usually mango tofu, malai kofta, and vegetable korma w/ 1 regular naan, 1 garlic naan, and 1 cheese naan. The quality of the malai kofta has gone done for sure. It was very dry inside and seemed like it wasn't fresh. The naan was very hard making me think it was done in the morning. I ordered at 4:30pm and picked it up at 5pm and the naan was cold. Overall disappointed at the quality of the food when I picked it up.

Yelp
After ordering from here for several years, this has become my favorite Indian place around here, more to my taste than new restaurants nearby. It's flavorful without being too salty or dry and they follow the requested spice level. They also have bhatura which is my favorite Indian bread. They also include rice! Favorites: chicken tikka masala, vegetable biryani, channa bhatura, chicken vindaloo, aloo gobi, naan
google avatar

Daryl C.

Yelp
Service started off well, with the bartender helping us, dropped off a cliff, when she went to do her job Daughter's butter chicken was dry, dry. Poor chicken died two deaths. Curry fries were not good at all. These two are their specialties I had a spicy chicken curry dish that was excellent. Wish I knew the name... This was my daughter's first Indian experience, not sure I can get her out again.

Yelp
I ordered a feast for delivery for my toddler & I. I requested mild/no spice bc my child can't handle spice yet- and the food was perfectly unspiced. Everything we got was good: Basmati Rice, Olive Naan, Vegetable Korma, Mixed Vegetables Masala (Tikka Masala), Bharta, Mango Paneer. The Bharta (eggplant dish) and mango paneer were our favorites - they were so very delicious. I will definitely order again & recommend! I also liked that the food was stored in non-styrofoam.

Yelp
I ordered the Saang Paneer and Punjabi lamb lunch special was ordered. Plenty to eat, wish there was an option of no rice and maybe a side salad as other restaurants substitute for those who do not eat rice. The lunch special was plenty of food and worth the price. Appreciate that they ask how spicy you want your food. Excellent service, quick to serve.

Yelp
I liked the spice level.. I got the second hottest but the tomato taste over powered the curry flavors... it was like a spicy mild.. chicken is very tender .

Yelp
Used to come here for takeout. The saffron rice was bigger and cheaper. It has increased in price and the containers have gotten so small i wouldn't even consider it takeout. I paid $12 for saffron rice and a sweet lassi. The rice is a joke and $5 for a sweet lassi that was warm when I got it, waste of money. Will never come here again.

Yelp
First time here and I loved it! The lady (owner?) that served us was super attentive, but not in an annoying "buy more food" way. The food tasted fresh, like they JUST made it. It was full of flavor and fresh looking (eg. not congealed and dark/murky looking). That sounds funny, but the last Indian restaurant I went to the food tasted like they made it last week. We ordered the samosas, potato-onion pancakes, Butter chicken, chicken tiki masala, Naan, vegetable curry coconut soup and chai tea. Standouts? The sauces in the two chicken dishes and the two potato appetizers (I love potato's). Shout out to the fluffy garlicky Naan! Loved the seasoning in everything. Ambience was a VERY nice plus! Well done!

Yelp
I love this Indian food spot. I drive over 30 miles just to eat here from LA, I can't find a better Indian joint anywhere out here and I've tryed most of them. I highly recommend, 5stars and great service too, the staff is always friendly and the food is phenomenal! Thanks Saffron.

Yelp
I love the cozy feel of the restaurant. They have Bollywood movies on with lush colorful materials every where. Plus the food is just amazing.

Yelp
I'm VERY impressed with SAFFRON Indian Cuisine. Everything we have ordered is very delicious and full of flavor. We have ordered for pickup and delivery and they consistently give great service and food quality. Highly recommend their BUTTER CHICKEN CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA BHARTHA GARLIC NAAN & CHEESE NAAN
