After visiting the Smolenskaya branch, I decided to try its sister restaurant near Belaruskaya Station. The setup was very similar, with friendly service and an in-line open kitchen that created a lively yet comfortable dining atmosphere.
The food was generally good. While the noodles were slightly overcooked, the rest of the dishes were acceptable and enjoyable.
Overall, the dining experience was pleasant—until the bill. A 10 percent service charge had been automatically added without prior notice. Unaware of this, I also left an additional 14 percent tip in cash. I have heard that some restaurants in tourist-heavy areas of Moscow apply an automatic service fee, but despite my many dining experiences in the city, this was the first time I encountered it.
What made the situation more disappointing was the inconsistency. When I later checked the bill from its sister restaurant at Smolenskaya, there was no 10 percent service charge added, even though I had also left a 14 percent cash tip there. Accepting a 1,000-ruble cash tip while simultaneously charging a 10 percent service fee on the card is not a good practice and left a sour note at the end of an otherwise enjoyable meal.
