"La Pallaresa is a great place to go for breakfast or an afternoon snack, or churros with “suizo” (melted chocolate with whipped cream) on a quiet weekend morning. It’s in the old Gothic Quarter around the corner from Plaça del Pi, a very cute square where you can sit down and read the newspaper. We had to wait in a queue to get in, but it moved quickly, and there were plenty of seats inside. Service was fast, and the staff were pleasant and friendly. We ordered the Swiss hot chocolate and the churros. The churros were, without a doubt, the best we had in Barcelona—fried to perfection. The hot chocolate, however, wasn’t our favorite. We’ve had better elsewhere, but I understand that Spanish hot chocolate is typically thickened with cornflour, which I’m not a big fan of. That said, the rich cream topping definitely made up for it 🙂

Super cool old school looking Pastellaria/Xocolateria. Chocolate is dark and rich but the pastries where honestly a bit underwhelming. the churros is definitely the hot tip. The ensaimaida was pretty dry and flavourless. The service however was excellent. Worth the visit just for the decor and service if nothing else. Also one of the only cafes in the old quarter with any authentic character these days!

A must-try spot when visiting Barcelona. The churros are crispy and fresh, perfectly paired with rich hot chocolate especially comforting on a cool day. A classic local experience worth trying.

Ordered churros, SMALL chocolate and small coffee with milk. I was charged for chocolate I didn’t order. The same person took my order, served them and charged me, so I don’t think this was a mistake. Should check the bill carefully before you tap your card.

Super noisy and crowded place. Churros were okay but chocolate was terrible quality, it tasted like they mixed it with water. I would not recommend.

Their churros were lovely, they were hot and crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Not greasy at all. 🙂 However the molten chocolate dipping sauce wasn’t as good as it looked. I was after a luxuriously rich chocolate sauce, but I was disappointed by a bland, tasteless version. 🙁

One of a kind for those not familiar with this dark chocolate in a cup found in Catalonia. Our friends from Spain introduced us to this shop that is included on many local chocolate tours in Barcelona.
