This place has such a great vibe! It's an old pharmacy, the front of which is now herbs and coffees, household tools and decor items. At the back of the store there's an old soda fountain. You order, and must pay cash only, at the register. You can sit either in a booth or at the stools along the counter, to wait for your ice cream treats or coffee or baked goods or sandwiches. I can vouch for how wonderful their coffee ice cream soda is, and my son and I both were delighted with our toasted cheese sandwiches with veggies on ciabatta rolls.

Got the espresso shake a couple of times and man, was it good. Highly recommend something from the cash only-espresso bar. It's also just such a unique little place and smells amazing. Love the vibe. They have a ton of cute pottery for sale as well. Had I any room in my suitcase, I would have grabbed some.

Butterfly Herbs is a MUST stop for Missoula. I've mostly stuck with their iced coffee and coffee milkshake. All are delicious options. As a reminder/head's up, they only take cash. There's an ATM conveniently by the coffee bar. For the store, they have a great selection of candles, plateware, sweets, books, and cards. Though the pacing of getting your coffee may be a hair slower, there's plenty of fun books, cards, and postcards to peruse. The styles range from vintage to contemporary. I regularly scoop up their cards and have never had anyone be sad from something they've gotten from Butterfly Herbs. Candles are quality and have lighter fragrances in general, which are nicer for a more sensitive nose.

This adorable shop was recommended to me as the best place in town to get a sandwich from the desk at my hotel. The sandwich was awesome. I loved it so much I had to come back for their banana bread before I left town. The staff is friendly. The gift shop is full of great finds with a variety options. I even made some new local friends while sitting at the bar in the cafe. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Missoula.

We visited December 2024. Cute cafe in the back, I got an iced chai tea latte - it was yummy. The store itself was full of loose leaf teas, lotions, cards, chocolates, and all kinds of fun stuff to peruse. We bought a bunch of bar soap! This is a must do when in Missoula.

Love the cafe here! Great place to go when you are looking for a quiet spot for breakfast, lunch, or simply a nice cup of coffee (the baristas make amazing lattes!). The Butterfly Club is delicious and don’t leave without trying a slice of their Huckleberry Coffeecake. They also sell bulk spices, loose leaf tea, and artwork from local artists.

A friend from home told me to come here when I told her I would be in Missoula. She used to come here when she was in school a few decades back and it held such a strong sway over her it was the first thing she mentioned. She was right. Butterfly Herbs is almost mystical. Loose teas (and bagged), loose herbs, spices, incense, soaps, lotions, shave soaps, plenty of beautiful and aromatic products to choose from. At the back of the shop is a coffee/tea counter with some seating as well. Ordered a pot of tea and just absorbed the vibe of the place. Great relaxing stop.

The absolute best loose tea shop I've been to. Their selection of herbal teas, black teas, spices, and more are overwhelming! As a plant lover, I was obsessed with how large their selection was in each section, they also have a restaurant inside that is super yummy! Definitely will be back!
