Retro bar with plush couches, disco ball, waterbed, cocktails

"What happens when you put a waterbed in a bar then round out the vibe with a disco ball and a bunch of weirdly squishy furniture that was probably found at a yard sale in 1983? You get Joyface. When it's a Saturday night and you absolutely need to stumble around in the dark and feel the flickering lights of a disco ball on your face before lowering yourself into a decades-old armchair, this place should be your number one choice. It's fun. But if you come before 11pm, you might be the only one here." - bryan kim, willa moore, will hartman, sonal shah
"The theme at Joyface appears to be “1970s bedroom.” And what do you do in a 1970s bedroom? You hang out, sit on a waterbed, talk to some friends on your velvet couch, and show off your dance moves underneath a disco ball. You can do all of these things at this East Village bar. This place gets packed, and it’s a great spot to hang out for an hour or two and accidentally run into your ex." - team infatuation
"You might miss Joyface’s ’70s decor, but at least you can still have their cocktails. Delivery and takeout available - order through their website." - hannah albertine, nikko duren, bryan kim, arden shore, matt tervooren
"Movie Pairing:The Last Days Of Disco (Prime) “I’ve seen The Last Days of Disco so many times. It’s probably unhealthy. But right now, it’s exactly what you need. As the title suggests, this movie is about the early-’80s disco scene in New York, and I assume it’s not very historically accurate. Still, you get to see NYC (a nice change from the inside of your apartment), and the soundtrack is full of songs that are scientifically classified as ‘bangers.’ Just listen to ‘Doctor’s Orders’ by Carol Douglas, and try not to dance. The obvious pairing for this movie is a Disco Kit from Joyface (which includes 12 cocktails and a disco ball), but if you don’t want to spend $165 on a party for one at your apartment, get a bunch of chicken fingers from Sticky’s. And find some vodka, or something.” -BK" - hannah albertine, nikko duren, bryan kim, hillary reinsberg, arden shore
"Due to birthday and non-birthday reasons, you’re itching to have a dance party. And, unfortunately, your nice-but-ultimately-awkward Zoom celebration isn’t going to scratch that itch. Instead, order a Joyface “disco kit” that comes with to-go cocktails, snacks, Joyface-branded rolling papers, and a battery-operated disco ball, and turn your apartment into the dance club your heart knows it wants." - hannah albertine
