Citrus On the Lake Boutique Hotel / Citrus Sky Bar Tavares

Even though the hotel and its premises are undergoing through renovations and other things. Jack at the front desk was very kind, patient and helpful. He accommodated us to the best of his knowledge and ability. He upgraded us to the best room without extra fee. Very generous of him. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful lake view and sunrise view. Very grateful Thanks!

We've stayed here a couple times now, and the staff is friendly and the location is convenient. But we've had mixed results with the rooms. First time, we were in building 1, and it took was much nicer. This most recent time, we were in building 3, and the room was kind of run down and shabby. Both rooms could use an update to things like plugs (for USB charging). For the price, I just want it a little more updated.

I stayed at Citrus Hotel in Tavares, Florida and overall had a pleasant experience. The location is excellent—close to downtown, the lake, restaurants, and everything you need while visiting the area. The staff was friendly, helpful, and welcoming, which made the stay comfortable from check-in to check-out. The hotel was clean and quiet, and the beds were comfortable. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is that the rooms could use some updating. A few modern touches, newer furniture, and refreshed bathrooms would really elevate the experience. That said, for the price and the location, this hotel is a solid choice. I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Tavares who wants a convenient and affordable place to stay.

We booked a lakeview room which came with a balcony. The view includes the pool, a marina, and a seaplane area and of course a great view of the lake. Restaurants and shops are in easily walkable distance. The room was spotless, well furnished, clean and quiet, although the furniture was a little dated. There is ample free parking adjacent to the hotel. The front desk staff were is a class by themselves and made us feel welcome. They went out of their was to make sure we enjoyed not only our stay, but the Tavares area as well. Our room was in the building closest to the lake (352 Ruby Street) so I cannot comment on the other buildings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay here again.

We went for my granddaughter‘s volleyball tournament and based on the reviews, I kept my expectations low. We were so pleasantly surprised! Rooms were clean, staff was friendly. If you’re looking for a modern updated fancy, chain type hotel, this place is not for you, but if you’re looking for a place that’s charming and cozy with character and a great vibe, you’re going to like it. It’s right in downtown Tavares, and there are several restaurants, bars, and lounges, and a walk along the lake all within walking distance. We went to the SKYBAR LOUNGE and the food was great, and the staff was friendly. Puddle Jumpers for lunch and my granddaughter watched a sea plane takeoff. We didn’t get to try Ironworks steakhouse or the oyster bar so we will go back again to be able to enjoy this charming hotel and town again.

I want to mention that I looked into this hotel from a review off a franchise hotel. The skybar and location caught my attention. I made a phone call as I was looking to get info for group rates and availability of specific rooms. First I want to mention my phone call to the hotel and my conversation with Toni. From receiving my call answering all my questions and giving me the info and details before forwarding my contact to the event coordinator of what I needed was by far the best conversation I’ve had with a hotel employee. Seeing pictures, getting the proper hospitality attention from Toni, and getting an email from Sydney the following day, I’m ready to book my group to this location. I will review the location again once I make my stay in late July of 2026 but just dealing with both of them I’m pleased and excited to stay here. I can’t wait

The location is nice with views of the lake. The rooms could use a little upgrades but they were clean and nice. The staff was very courteous. We were told they may not have heat. They did have heat and parking was not bad like previous reviews.

We had the unfortunate experience of booking this hotel for one night and to say we were disapointed would be an understatement. I say we as there were 3 couples who booked. I will keep my remarks factual so as not to get emotional. We all stayed in building 2. This was across the street from check-in and we had to access the elevator from the rear of this building 2 which was not very inviting. Upon getting into the room, it was as basic as any room could ever be. The furniture was old and scarred as if it came from a second hand store. The pillows on the bed were couch pillows meaning not standard size for a bed. That made sleeping very difficult. The floors were dirty as can be as witnessed when taking a shower and seeing the dirt come off. There was an additional closet which was large with another bureau which was old and in poor shape as well. There was no safe. No coffee machine. No phone. The balcony seats were musty and green molded and not inviting to sit in. At a rate of almost $200/night, it was unconscioable to charge us that. The main hotel was probably in better shape however a steep discount should have been offered for this hotel, which was sub-standard and quite unfriendly. There was no coffee machine in the main building either and no breakfast offered. Even in lower level hotels, coffee and biscuits or the such are offered. The room keys were just that, KEYS. It's been years since we have used keys to access a room. There was a racket going on as well on the third floor and that went on for hours despite a cell phone call to the front desk. Overall a total disapointment and we all would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
