I recently visited Nicola Clarke to get highlights done ahead of my wedding next month and unfortunately, it turned out to be a really disappointing experience.
I was so excited to return as a few years ago I had the best highlights ever done at this same salon. This time, Sandy (I believe that was her name) did good job with the highlights and the prep work. she was the only saving grace of my visit and the reason I’m giving 3 stars instead of 1.
However, the assistant who washed my hair was unbelievably rough. It actually hurt. I had to shout “ouch” and ask him to be more gentle. Even after that, the experience was uncomfortable; water splashed all over and my face got wet. I have honestly never had my hair washed like that in any salon before.
Afterwards, since I opted out of the blow dry, I was just dropped back at my seat with towels around my neck and handed a hair dryer with no explanation or offer of basic drying help. I was left sitting there awkwardly, unsure what to do next.
To make matters worse, no one checked in afterwards to ask if I was happy with my hair or the overall result. For a salon of this reputation and price point, the customer service was shockingly poor.
I’m really disappointed to see how much the service standards have dropped since my last visit. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be returning or recommending this salon anymore. I truly hope they work on improving their customer care and wash hair gently. It used to be such a wonderful place.
