The 24 Best Bars in Paris

"Because of its fairly nondescript facade, you’re coming to this bar if someone serious about cocktails and music tipped you off. It's run by former barmen who worked at two of the city's first serious cocktail joints: Sherry Butt and Andy Wahloo. Thankfully, they do offer a menu in English, because even those with a working knowledge of French may be confused by the descriptions: They’re doing interesting things, like combining pickled grapes with sake and rum, or a pineapple and lime flower vinegar with gin and Campari. Beyond their own creations (both alcoholic and non-), the menu here also offers sake, natural sparkling wines, and canned craft beer from Japan to Denmark. This is also a whiskey-drinkers joint, and for those who don't beware the brown the menu is organized by profile taste from peated (a 12-year Speyside single malt from Benriach) to spicy/salty (a 29-year single grain from North British)." - Sara Lieberman

When I went to Paris
Frequence

An amazing hidden gem that plays vinyl and serves gorgeous cocktails. I had an old fashioned and my partner had a non alcoholic cocktail which she says was one of the best she's ever tasted! We didn't have food but saw other people eating and the food looked great. The member of staff that served us was so welcoming and even gave us recommendations on other bars in the area to visit. Definitely pay this place a visit if you're in the Bastille area :)

Saturday night, as a solo female I had to deal with an insecure and powertripping bouncer who tried to not let me in due to lack of space but contradicted himself by almost allowing a group to get in after I arrived. The truth is to his eyes I didn't fit the crowd. He was trying to pick a fight with me just so he had a more formal reason to block me access. I remained calm and confident by stating that I will be patient as I understandthat it is a busy Saturday night. He got upset and delcared that i do no chose he is the one in charge. This is when I calmly proved my point by stating that I did not contradicted him ( about him REALLY having the power to decide who gets in, so such things as to crowded for a solo patron) and he was the one who kept on arguing just to save face. After 3 minutes, he searched my bag for a second time(!) and let me in. Once inside, great DJ, cool ambiance and polite bartenders. I stayed longer than planned, which is a good sign. I personally love the vinyl aspects. This bar was recommended to me by few bartenders in Paris. One did warn me that this venue started to get more bad feedback. Welcoming people at the entrance is key as it sets the mood. That being said, I will make sure to visit Frequence again on a different night hoping to have better service ( and no 'goonish' attitude at the door)!

I’ve been here twice now during my visits to Paris. This cocktail bar has great vibes. It’s a vinyl record bar with wood panels and a stylish but friendly staff to match. The cocktails are solid, but on the sweeter side and not hugely complex in flavor. If you’re looking for something light and refreshing, you can’t go wrong with any of the special cocktails at this time of year. If you’re looking for something boozy and spirit-forward, best stick with the classics. The neighborhood is safe by day with some cute stores lining the street, but can be a little dodgy at night and so best to be careful especially if you are a solo woman. All-in-all though definitely worth stopping in if you’re in the area.

Google
really enjoyed the cocktails here. They were simply presented but full of flavour. We also tried some food, the menu has a lot of asian inspired flavours. I tried the aubergine while my friend had a hashbrown. Probably intended as sharing plates but very nice. the atmosphere is great some 80s soul playing during our visit, it was super chill

Had 4 cocktails between me and my friend. Everything was extremely well balanced with flavors I don’t normally see. Staff was pleasant with a wonderful atmosphere. We got here early when it was pretty empty, so it was very relaxed. *I did not try any foods

This is my absolute favorite cocktail bar in Paris. I’ve been coming here now for a few years (everytime I’m in town). I’ve been to many cocktail bars, and Frequence never disappoints. The ambience is down to earth and chill. The bartenders are friendly and helpful in serving you a cocktail that fits your preferences. Very innovative cocktails- more Japanese inspired flavors. I always recommend this place to my friends when they come to Paris and they’re always happy with their experience here. On Friday and Saturday nights a DJ spins some records and they also serve some small/sharing plates. This is a Must Visit!
