While you’re in the neighbohrood, check out the nearby Mercat de la Barcelonetta. This market, as well as Mercat de Santa Caterina a 20 minute walk away, make a great contrast with the super touristy Boqueria.

A popular, buzzing market with an amazing variety of food! Loved all the fresh fruit and especially the fresh juices — we tried coconut and strawberry first, then went back for another round of coconut and mango, both delicious. There were plenty of other stalls too, offering everything from fresh oysters to nuts, sweets, spices, and fried pastries (though I wasn’t sure how fresh some looked, so I skipped those). Really enjoyed the lively atmosphere and energy of the market!

What they had on the different stands was excellent produce especially the fruit & veg stand. They were so helpful, humorous & offering us to try all their fruits, so we tried some amazing plums, peaches, melon etc and of course we had to buy because they were so good! There were a lot of areas closed, so don't know if it was due to being on holiday... we went 29 August.

The tapas restaurant inside the market is absolutely amazing and a must visit for anybody visiting. The food was the best we’ve had, very good pricing and lovely staff. The owner, pictured in my review was a legend and featured in The Guardian review of best places to eat. Faultless.

Great local place where to eat traditional Spanish food. Recommend visiting one of the stand with the tables and everyday menu. It’s very worth it.

Good selection and reasonable prices. Cheese place at the entry by the supermarket is top dollar and very friendly. Wanted to get bread crumbs to make fried aubergine but the store does not sell bread crumbs. Migas de pan. Now you know.
