Avid Bookshop

Very good book shop! Book selection is somewhat limited but they are actively expanding it (understandable as they recently changed locations). I also love the selection of seating and free drinks. Great staff and cool place! 10/10

Update: The owner contacted me and will be taking care of the issue. I appreciate her response and I look forward to buying from Avid again. I still have not received a book I ordered and paid for nine weeks ago. It was supposed to be shipped to my house. Janet said it would arrive in 4-6 weeks. I paid with a gift card plus a few more dollars for the balance. I have called the store several times on different days, during business hours. No one ever answered the phone. I left a detailed voicemail four days ago and another one today. No one has called me back. I tried sending a message via Facebook and got an autoreply saying they don't like to use Messenger and would prefer to communicate via phone call or email. I made it clear what the issue was in my voicemail and they have my email address.

A delightful one-stop shop for thoughtfully curated books and gifts. They even have complementary hot tea to sip on while browsing! Such a cozy nook to sit and relax in while shopping or reading. You can really tell the owner cares about the total experience. Love the new location!

I went by a few weeks ago to check out the new location. Person behind the counter was berating a customer. I’ve seen this behavior from her several times in the past, and I’m just over it. Overhear he’d ordered and paid for a book several weeks ago and they can’t get it due to distribution issues. And that she wouldn’t give him his money back! That’s when I left empty handed. Won’t be back. Maybe it’s time to save face and just accept defeat after two bailouts. I’ve been to a few small bookshops in nearby cities and they seem to be doing just fine. So clearly it’s not an industry issue, it’s an ownership issue.

Avid Bookshop = Attitude from owner with sporadic hours Amazon = No attitude and cheaper prices open 24/7 Janet, do Athens a favor and close down this absolute joke of a “business” and learn to behave like an adult instead of a toddler…

Avid is s new and used bookstore with a great staff and fun selection. They have a little bit of everything. It's s boutique, not a warehouse. Plenty of parking and wheelchair accessible.

Clearly from the paper posted on their door, they do not respect law enforcement, our country’s laws, or helping keep the American people safe. Stay away from this place.
