New to Fox Point, this Sichuan spot drew attention from Brown Daily Herald and local cultural leaders for mala‑forward dishes like boiling spicy fish, mapo tofu, and yóupō noodles, plus desserts such as tofu cheesecake.

The spicy beef pot was all one flavor- the beef, the unknown mushrooms, broccoli and potatoes all tasted the same likely due to the chili like paste in the dish. It was underwhelming. The steamed pot stickers were delicious! The pineapple fried rice was flavorful- the shrimp had the shells, taking those off was not pleasant. We needed a dish for the discarded shells. The service was good and atmosphere was nice. Great location for a restaurant. We noticed a room that had a round table that likely seats 6 and a rectangle table that fit 10ish or so people.

Everybody really likes it here! Cute spot. Brings a big crowd. Can’t wait to come back. We just had some quick classics like Mapo Tofu, tomato egg Dali noodles and Pork belly. It is good. They are still learning here because they just opened. I am excited to return and try some other things.

Google
Such an incredible time. The girls at the front are phenomenal! They really tend to their customers. My boyfriend & I were coming from 12 dumplings the resturaunt after being ignored we left and searched around, finding this place and immediately the presence at this place was extremely welcoming. Not to mention gorgeous atmosphere. The food was great, the environment was great. I had a really good time here. THE BOAZI was amazing!! We will be back!!

Everything was delicious. We were truly impressed. This is one of the most authentic Chinese restaurants in Providence we’ve ever had. Great service and reasonably priced as well. We didn’t realize that they’re only doing soft opening now with limited menu. Can’t wait to be back soon for the full menu!! (I typically write reviews that highlights one or two of my favorite items but everything was equally amazing tonight honestly.) Highly highly recommended!

I can't believe how everything tastes like MSG! The service was just okay, but it's obvious they care more about the renovation, decor than the quality of their food, not authentic! The noodles were disgustingly mushy. They were busy when we arrived, we had to wait like 10 minutes just to get a table. Definitely not worth the wait or the price, I will not be returning, sorry!

I visited twice already in the span of a month! This place has really good food at extremely reasonable prices. Family style dining is the way to go as there are so many dishes to try. Although they’re still touching up on the interior, they make up for in terms of probably the warmest service I’ve had all around.

This restaurant is an absolute gem. The owner’s kindness, warmth, and care in guiding us through the menu made the experience truly special. Every dish felt thoughtful and intentional — you can tell there’s real heart and pride behind the flavors and presentation. The food was delicious, comforting, and reminded me so much of the meals I enjoyed during my time in China, without me claiming to be an expert. It’s rare to find a place where each plate feels special and you’re treated like a welcomed guest. A beautiful, cozy find that I’ll be recommending to everyone.

It’s relaxing to sit in the sunny windows for lunch and watch the activity on Wickenden St. The scallion pancake is a standout dish. The Kung Pao Chicken is good; be sure to order a side of rice because the entree does not come with it.

Yelp
No wait for 2 on a Saturday around 7 pm and the restaurant was lively. Scallion pancakes and pork buns were both excellent but the grilled fish entree with wood ear mushrooms was beyond incredible. The fish was tender, moist, but still crispy at the edges, and the broth was rich in flavor with a balanced spice and plenty of mala sichuan peppercorn. We picked the bones clean and took the leftover broth to enjoy at home with rice and tofu. Very friendly attentive service and a clean, comfortable atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Rong Chic had their grand opening on June 14 and June 15th. In honor of their grand opening, Rong Chic offered specials all day long. On June 14th, everything is half off and on June 15th, 20% off storewide. My husband and I came back to Rong Chic on June 14th. The restaurant was busy with all the festivities and it was full. We waited about 20-30 minutes for a table. There were balloons everywhere and the space was renovated with new tables and tablecloths. Even the menus are have been upgraded to a nicer glossy paper. We ordered a few dishes to share: scallion pancakes, mapo tofu, sweet and sour pineapple chicken, and tofu cheesecake. The scallion pancakes were crispy and infused with fresh scallions, topped with sesame seeds and chopped scallions. The mapo tofu is soft tofu cubes simmered in a spicy Sichuan chili sauce with minced pork. Mapo tofu over rice is always so good. The sweet and sour pineapple chicken were crispy chicken pieces stir-fried with pineapple chunks, bell peppers, and onions in a sweet and tangy sauce. It was very good. The best and must get is the tofu cheesecake. I always have to get this to end the meal. Congratulations on Rong Chic's grand opening! Staff were friendly and attentive even though it was so busy. Looking forward to revising Rong Chic many more times in the future.

Yelp
We decided to try this place having read a very positive review in the Providence Journal. The restaurant is divided into two sections with the rooms neatly arranged and decorated. The tables are well spaced and the chairs comfortable. The staff were cheerful and helpful. We ordered dishes to share: scallion pancakes which were slightly different from the usual with a sprinkling of an interesting sauce. This was followed by an unexciting sesame chicken and a somewhat insipid egg noodles. We should have ordered the spicier dishes which were probably tastier (especially as this is a Szechwan restaurant). We ended up with a n unusual tofu cheesecake which was tasty and by far the best dish of the evening. There is an interesting selection of soft drinks as they do not yet have a liquor license. (I think that one can bring in one's own drink.) The dishes are well priced and the helpings are large - we took some food home. We will probably return but are not in a hurry to do so.

Yelp
Located next door to Pizza Pier, Rong Chic has a nice variety of dishes from more Americanized to traditional. The staff is always attentive and friendly and the food comes out surprisingly fast. When going to a place like this, I always tend to gravitate towards the traditional. So far, and I know it's not exactly a dish for everyone, my favorite has been the braised chicken w/ pork intestine. It's very flavorful, it is a little gamey, but was cooked really nicely with taro and a bit of kick. The three pepper chicken isn't overly spicy given its 4 pepper rating on the menu, but it was more heat than flavor. You have to eat the chicken with the peppers to get flavor. The dishes I've had are all good representations of that particular dish and I would definitely encourage people to try it out and be adventurous :)

Yelp
Boboji is absolutely amazing! The flavor was authentic and well balanced. I love the good amount of sesame seeds. Chili oil was so delicious. And the chicken is flavorful, the flavor is not just from the sauce it's from the chicken itself. Absolutely amazing! Good service and very spacious inside. Will definitely go back!

Yelp
A new Asian spot on the East Side of Providence with a cool, modern vibe. The menu features plenty of great Sichuan options--I tried the mapo tofu, which was delicious with a silky, smooth texture. It wasn't as spicy as I expected, but really enjoyable. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their dishes.

Yelp
Service was good, but the food was not. I've never experienced tasteless, overly sweet sichuan food like this before. The scallion pancake was decent; we appreciated that it wasn't greasy. But that was really the only highlight of our meal. And for ~$10, we've certainly had better elsewhere for less. The kung pao tofu was way too sweet, and had absolutely no spice, and was basically just a pile of tofu with peanuts and maybe 2 scallion slices. The three-pepper tofu had their highest spice rating and also had no spice and really no discernible flavor whatsoever. The orange peel chicken and sesame chicken were fresh tasting, but also just very underwhelming and overly sweet. The worst was the bok choy. NO seasoning at all. We were all dying for salt. Soy sauce. Sesame oil. GARLIC. Anything. And charging separately for rice is criminal. Ultimately, it felt as though the fresh approach resulted in extremely bland products. It just felt like the entire menu could've benefited from more balance. Everything was sweet and boring.

Yelp
So good! The Boboji was crazy flavorful -- spicy, rich, and super addictive. Loved the crunchy chicken and that chewy, bouncy skin. The sauce was next-level. Totally recommend this spot to anyone who loves Sichuan food!

Yelp
I've eaten across providence looking for authentic Chinese food and thank God I found this place! Super tasty and authentic plates and you can get it real spicy! The owners are so friendly too! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Haven't even been served and can't help but feel like we weren't treated fairly. We walked in and the waitress offered this smaller table to my group of three. She did give us the option to look at it but my assumption was that there was going to be a longer wait for a larger table. Especially since a larger crowd walked in behind us. As soon as we were seated, we saw a free table (booth and two seats) behind us. We thought perhaps it was for a reservation or a larger group but then the same waitress seated another group of three that came in behind us to that table. I get it, they were trying to reserve larger tables for larger parties but this just left a sour taste in my mouth. To the left in the photo was a guy who was seated in another booth and two chairs but the rest of his party hadn't even arrived yet. and by the time we ordered still weren't here. He shouldn't have even been seated if the whole party was not here. Update: We are still sitting here since the waitresses are no where to be found. We wanted to order dessert and ask for take out containers but at this point I am considering paying at the counter since it's been about an hour since we've finished eating. It was rather busy throughout our dinner but there didn't seem to be any customers waiting to be seated at any point of time. Management should have an additional person to wait on tables since the two waitresses seemed pretty stressed. Especially since they advertised 50% off today only as part of their Grand Opening promotion, so it should have been expected to have a higher turn-out of customers. Update 2: I went up to the counter and asked for the take out containers and check. She brought the check to the table but after another 10 minutes, I brought it back to the counter to finish the transaction. If I was forced to come here again, I would recommend the Twice Cooked Pork, RC Noodles, Three Pepper Tofu, and maybe the Crab-Roe Tofu. I like the lighting fixtures and furniture they chose for the restaurant.

Yelp
This food is amazing. Probably best quality and most authentic Chinese food in Providence. The hand pulled noodles- wow. I need to go back and try more dishes, but truly I was so impressed.

Yelp
DO NOT get the Boboji. This is chicken scraps (skin, bone, feet)...it also tasted disgusting. I am the least picky person...they advertised this with a picture on the menu and it looked good, but it was inedible. Appitizers were good.

Sydney B.

Yelp
One of my favorite businesses in Providence! The service is incredible as well as the food. I highly recommend the scallion pancakes and the cheesecake!

Yelp
Super good food, lovely service and the owner even came by to say hi to us. We will be back again!

Yelp
Surprised to see no reviews for Rong Chic but the food is delicious. Started with the crispy peanuts (crunchy and lightly salted) and had the crispy green beans (fresh but quick fried to stay crunchy) and mapo tofu (silky tofu). All nicely flavored as expected. If you like a kick of spice these dishes were perfect and the spice didn't overwhelm the dish. We lucked into eating here and ample seating.

Yelp
Good authentic Chinese restaurants can be difficult to find, so it was a pleasure to try the relatively new Rong Chic, which specializes in Sichuan cooking. If you like spicy, this place is nirvana. Five of us who love Chinese but are not so crazy about spicy carefully threaded our way through the menu for our first visit. Everything we had was excellent: scallions pancakes nice and crispy, orange chicken delightful with orange peel, and noodles with beef with terrific noodles. The tofu cheesecake sounds weird but was creamy and delicious. We listened to our server who was worried about us ordering things we'd find too spicy, but on our next visit we will dip into the spicy stuff, including the whole grilled fish which looked fabulous at several tables around us. It's BYOB, which really holds down the bill! Tip: If you try to make a reservation and the online system says there are no tables, call the restaurant and you'll likely get a table.

Yelp
Best Chinese food in the city and it's not close. The 3 pepper chicken is unbelievable, can't recommend it enough. Service is fantastic, always checking in and making sure everything is alright!
