Operating since 1882, this daily open-air market is the city’s social heartbeat—farmers, flowers, Appalachian crafts, and street energy. Frequently recommended by Southern Living and local travel editors for authentic flavor and people-watching.

I had to get my Jamaican! I loved the Christmas decorations and the food was phenomenal as always. If you're visiting or from this area, it's a nice place to grab lunch.

We visited on a Tuesday, so obviously not much to do. The stand that sells Jamaican food was delicious, and the workers are very helpful and friendly. Strongly recommend the Jerk Chicken! There are some shops surrounding the market that sell local goods but nothing amazing. Not worth driving out of your way. If you've been to Chelsea Market (NYC) or Reading Terminal Market (Philly), this feels like a food court. Not worth driving put of your way for, but good for a rest stop along the way.

There is nothing wrong here, aside from possibly the fact that it's underused. It's not unreasonably expensive (let's face it, though --everything is unreasonably expensive), and there really is a good variety of sound establishments and cuisines from which to choose. There's table service at many of the individual places if that suits you. A group of difficult, opinionated people with mutually incompatible tastes could exit the Market Square feeling well-fed.

Cool place, nothing special. Wouldn’t make a special trip. Being in the nice downtown is nice however. Good variety of food.

Centered in the market square, it's a relaxing place to just stop enjoy a variety of foods. From Caribbean to Chinese, Indian to American, it's a great place for something quick and easy.

Food was ok at best. As far as I'm concerned it lacks in authentic flavor. Green were old and cold. I'm sorry to say, but true soul food it's not! Never to return again.

Cute little area with a good amount of seating and variety of bites available.
