When one of my best friends brought to my attention that I've been unknowingly missing out on some killer pizza, I promptly Googled Dani's and suggested we meet there for lunch, despite being highly skeptical of a rather unserious, un-Italian sounding name. "House of Pizza", really? Hmm ....
Well, one bite into their product and I was waxing philosophical - - really, what's in a name after all? It's the product itself that matters and the fact is that Dani's is one of the best regular slices I've ever had - - its size dwarfed the paper plate it was placed upon, and it was all the things: perfectly thin, crispy, chewy, tangy, and oh-so-delightfully sweet (is the rumor about strawberries true? I need answers!) Their famous pesto slice, which I enjoyed plain, was equally delicious, wonderfully savory and unctuous (in a good way). As luck would have it, a Sicilian pie with vodka sauce exited the oven just as we were about to leave, so we snagged a slice on the way out - - if you love lots of stretchy mozzarella on your pizza, don't miss this one.
Folks seated next to us were enjoying some pasta and salad which we were just too full to try out this trip but everything looked delicious. The restaurant interior itself is tiny (but cozy and quaint) so if you want to get a coveted stool at the counter, get there as close to opening as possible (2pm) - - listening to the phone ring off the hook while the pizzaiolos work their magic directly across the counter from you just adds to the charm of this place. And be sure and order your soda from the fountain, as it really complements the pizza best.
