Rich and tasty BBQ served with friendly charm. Steady flow of locals greeted on a first name basis. Nice menu selections with plenty of variety. Aiming to return for additional samples. Super easy parking.

My dining experience was pretty bad, which is disappointing. I usually order take-out from this place and decided to come and sit down this time hoping that it would be a better experience, as the store frequently forgets or gets online order deliveries incorrect. The food always tastes great and the meat is cooked perfectly. It is never soggy but still has that amazing pull away from the bone mouth bites that you pray your BBQ is going to have, not dry at all and super juicy. The flavors are always there but unfortunately our food was cold when we got it. I don't know if that was on the waiter but it was extremely deflating to me and the company I was with. There isn't a bigger sin a restaurant can commit then obviously microwave reheated cold ribs and sides. For the price of the food, I was very tempted to dock the rating all the way to a single star. Service was fine. The waiter sort of had to be flagged down to make sure that we were getting what we needed despite the store being very empty, and at one point our server went on lunch break or something and we weren't seen again by anyone until they came back. Very odd. The atmosphere was nice, just average. Was cozy but very empty. It seemed like it would be a great place to try on Game Day when everything is busy and the service is faster, but I'm not actually sure I will be ordering from here again. If I do try this location again, it will not be for some time.

Felix’s BBQ in Oceanside is a hidden gem! The meats were perfectly cooked—tender, juicy, and packed with smoky flavor. You can really taste the care they put into everything. The seasoning was spot on, and every bite had that rich, authentic BBQ taste. Great portions, friendly staff, and a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely one of the best BBQ spots I’ve tried in Southern California. Highly recommended!

First time finding this hidden gem. Customer service was amazing, friendly and helpful staff. super clean, beautiful out door seating. I ordered catfish dinner, chicken tenders, chicken dinner(dark) and a slice of sweet potato pie... With tip was $85. Was well seasoned, flavorful, my kiddos loved the tenders and fish nuggets as well as the sides. Would go again. 4 out of 5 stars pricing was a factor.

Google
Place is pretty gross, first time there took 20 min for someone to ask if we needed anything to drink. Food took more than 30 min. It was 5 of us and no one even asked if we had been helped yet or anything. NEVER again!!! And food was cold when it came out. This lady on this picture was the only one working the bar and the whole place. She was awesome and deserves a raise.Manager should realize how hard this woman works. Get her some help and clean the place.

I got the fried green tomatoes which were really good. That gumbo though was delicious! Highly recommend this. I absolutely will return the next time I'm in town.

When I'm craving fried chicken and I'm in North County, I always drop by Felix's BBQ. It's a simple fried chicken but has so much flavor and paired perfectly with their sweet potato fries and corn bread. They're my go-to lunch place when I was working in Ocean Ranch and I also had their BBQ ribs which was also good. The owners and staff are friendly and treats you like family.

On Sundays, they have a musician who plays the piano and a flute who does a great job. I have been there twice on a Sunday. First Sunday for sit-down dinner second Sunday for Mother's Day brunch. They are continuously busy, which is never a problem. However, to ask and distinguish between regular service and brunch, is a good idea to ask. After asking how many were in our party we were directed to sit and wait while they cleaned a table. We were not asked if we were there for regular service or brunch service. I waited for about thirty minutes or so and told them we were there for brunch. We were seated right away with about an hour or so left for the brunch. They need more workers for a Sunday. They are always very busy and can be neglectful of the table. We waited so long for our check we had to track down a server that was not ours and ask for our check. Truthfully, we were sitting right by the door we could have just walked out. That's how neglectful they were of our table. But we would never do that. Our mom loves going there. The time we went before for Sunday lunch our server did a very good job of checking on us and making sure we were taken care of with our drinks, our food, and even a dessert. I don't remember her name, but she has red hair. Perhaps because we came as brunch, had ended, so she had more time for us. Overall, it is a great place and good food. I love the atmosphere and I will be back.

Yelp
My last visit here was pretty good. It was a quiet Friday evening and we came just after roller skating near by. So I was hungry after burning those calories! We were initially kindly greeted by the musician that was wrapping up his evening and Connor was our server for the evening. He did great answering all my questions that I had about some menu options. I went with the sampler as it turned out to be. Great option to share! I chose the Tri-Top among other things and really liked how it turned out. I especially enjoy when they have live music here. I was a tad bummed the guy was already done for the evening. I've other musically inclined friends who come here from time to time too so I'll definitely be back for that and the sampler platter!

Yelp
Felix's HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK AGAIN!!!! They just catered our Jazzy Brunch for our community in Carlsbad and if you want TRUE Southern style food you HAVE to order here!!! The catfish is sublime! I'm closing my eyes talking about it The Macaroni ...... somebody's got their Granny's recipe!! I put their hot sauce on the rice and peppers mix and it was out of this world! The collard greens take you to the hills of Tennessee and back. I'm a Southerner born and raised in VA (blue ridge mountains) and when I say this is authentic I know what it means.....IT IS AUTHENTIC!! Thank you Felix's for putting love and southern tradition into every bite! I am thankful and grateful you're close by Shannon Itzaina

Yelp
Hi every body. Okay, so Socal and Soulfood don't seem a likely pairing. If you agree, stop, we're wrong. I'm a born and raised southern man, and quite the southern cook. I got greens, beans, tomatoes, potatoes, hams, yams, YOU NAAAAME IT! (Shirley Caesar). Felix's has that level of soul. Do you eat your greens by mashing a hunk of cornbread into the greens with your fingers, and eating with your digits? I do. This is real southern style soul food. This is that Crooked letter, that Bama, that Jawguh style soul food you don't see out side the deep south. I grew up in all 3 of them, plus Tejas and Virginny. Collard green juice is in my veins along with a dash of Louisiana hot sauce. I burn in the kitchen. This place burns better than me. Fall off the bone tender ribs. Candied yams, could have used slices if lemon (hint, authentic southern candied yams must have lemons cooked in). Oh these were great sweet spuds, but the next level up requires sliced lemons that render and become candied themselves. The cornbread is a southern staple, Jiffy, but they obviously put a spin on it that had the muffins floating off the platter. These where fresh, hot, fresh n hot, lightly sweet, crust was so golden. I was sad when I ran out. No component was served that didn't seem prepared with intensity. Someone put their whole foot in this meal and wiggled each toe. (That's southern chef for they prepared this meal with love ). The server was super nice, very attentive, really seemed genuine. They also have live music. A sax player that was grooving and truly a gifted artist, so do tip. Gotta bounce. Take care of yourselves. Thanks for sharing my experiences in Oceanside Socal, but why noy fly out for your own? When you do, visit this spot. Peace, love, and SOOOOOOOOOOOOUL!

Yelp
BBQ with Soul?! Yes...yes it is. Absolutely love this place. Always welcomed with a smile. The service here is perfectly balanced. Attentive but not overbearing. I've never waited for my iced tea or water to be topped off. Then we have the food. Yes yes yes . So good. I got the sampler platter w/o sides which is my standard go to here. Hot links, pulled pork, baby back ribs, and brisket. All four were absolutely delicious. Looking for good bbq? Swing by. It'll be worth your while. Your tastebuds will thank you

Yelp
3.5 stars. Starter choose 3 meats 4 sides. Tri tip sandwich with one side. Side muffins and pecan pie. I grew up on BBQ fro. KCMO, Oklahoma.a and Texas. My mom made amazing tender brisket. -Brisket- was a bit tougher than I'd like. -Pork- was ok -St Louis rib. So good! It didn't seem to have sauce on it but had a great flavor and it was very tender. (The star of my dinner ) - Mac n cheese was good and was seasoned. It was not bland. -Baked beans were good a bit runny - Not a fan of the black eyed peas. I should have gone with red beans and rice. (My mom made awesome blacked peas every new year) Ordered spicy BBQ sauce and ranch. The BBQ sauce was super runny and sweet. Not sure what it was. The ranch was really good. - Tri-tip sandwich with sweet potato fries. Tough but had a great flavor. The sweet potato fries were good. - Pecan pie. Tasted homemade was good.

Yelp
My husband and I got the lunch special. Appetizer of chicken tenders was really good. He got the fried chicken - juicy meat with a nice crunch on the skin. I got the ribs with sauce on the side, Mac and cheese and added collard greens as an extra side. The ribs were much better with the sauce on it. The sides were good. Cake was good, but I think I prefer key lime pie. Food was good for the price. Service was great. May come back and try breakfast.

Yelp
Weekday lunch, had to catch the specials! We were seated immediately by a cheerful young man in a gigantic booth. After some time perusing the gigantic menu, I ordered the $12 blackened catfish with one side. It is quite a bargain these days! I ordered sweet potato fries and collard greens which was an extra $3 for the second side. Very reasonable. The catfish was very moist and tender, I actually wouldn't have mind it a little pan sear. The sweet potato fries were crunchy and perfect, and the collard greens were impressively flavorful considering they were not loaded with bacon. Server said it's a turkey broth. I could taste a little bit of crushed red pepper too. I would call this a fantastic pot liquor! Husband ordered the brisket platter ($24 which was not a lunch special) and it came with two sides so he got baked beans and potato salad. The brisket serving was so large he brought home six slices and had them the next day. The brisket did not have a lot of bark, but was very moist and had some edge fat that had to be removed. The barbecue sauce was already applied, and was not offensive but we do prefer a spicy sauce. Beans and salad were good homemade versions. Our cheerful server brought me ranch and kept up with coke refills. What more could you ask? He was was also our cashier at the end. I would really like to come back and try the barbecue next time!

Yelp
Great Southern comfort food! This place is really really good. It's not Texas BBQ but they do have delicious stuff. They have a wide assortment of dishes from the south... They got Cajun and BBQ! That's the best combo! I had a mixed BBQ plate with four meats, brisket, pork, chicken and tri tip... You get the Southern sides... Collard greens, black eyed peas, Mac n cheese, red beans n rice... Oh. Complimentary warm cornbread muffins! That's what I'm talking about! Very hard to find good food like this in socal. Epic. Both times I went they had live music playing. It kinda reminds me of places you'd visit on the Gulf of Mexico like Louisiana or Mississippi. I've been twice now and can't wait to go again. Definitely worth a shot if you're in the area. I believe they have three locations in North county. Carlsbad Oceanside and San Marcos.

Yelp
Food was super tasty, flavorful. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich, fried chicken bacon sandwich, ribs, green salad, sweet potato fries, sweet potato pie, and pecan pie. Good pricing, average $15. Service was friendly and efficient. Ambiance was family friendly with live music. Definitely will return!

Yelp
This place was absolutely amazing!! I came on a Tuesday evening, where there was a live saxophone player, and it was such a vibe. The jazz music was great. I was told that they have different people come in and play other instruments on the weekends as well. The people that worked there were really nice, especially our server! She was very helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. Our food came fairly quick as well. The food was fresh and delicious. Their menu is packed with several different options to choose from. As a starter, they bring you corn bread that is soft and fresh. I decided to get the sampler platter, which included 4 meats and 4 sides. I chose baby back pork ribs, fried shrimp, sautéed shrimp, and the tri tip. As far as the sides, I got mac & cheese, collard greens, baked beans, and candied yams. My partner got the half of rack of beef ribs with catfish, and his sides were mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. I would give everything overall a 9/10. This place is great and I would highly recommend it! Individual ratings: - Baby back pork ribs 8/10 - Beef ribs 9/10 - Catfish 10/10 (very large and juicy) - Fried shrimp 10/10 - Sautéed shrimp 9/10 - Tri tip 9/10 - Mac & cheese 7.5/10 - Candied yams 7/10 - Collard greens 8/10 - Mashed potatoes 6/10 (could use more flavor) - Baked beans 7/10 - Corn bread 10/10 Give it a try !! Thanks again

Yelp
Food was so amazing! I'm from Texas so coming here made me feel right at home, and the SWEET TEA it's to die for amazing staff, super friendly I love the atmosphere here, ambiance is stunning and very homey

Yelp
Love this place. Not only is the food reasonably priced, it's absolutely epic! Best ox tails that I have had to date! The staff is friendly and want to ensure that your experience is pleasant. It gives off comfort vibes and is definitely a place to visit (and return to)

Yelp
My favorite menu item is the sweet potato waffle with a side of sausage. The waffle is executed perfectly with just the right amount of crunch and sweet potato goodness. Overall I prefer to eat breakfast here. Our last visit I tried the fried pork chops with county potatoes and eggs. And now this is my second favorite menu item here! The crunchy fried batter is seasoned nicely and goes well with the brown gravy. The little cubes of potato's have just the right amount of crunch versus softness inside. The chicken and waffles are really good. Chicken is tender, juicy with a flavorful crunchy outside. I prefer the sweet potato waffles because well they are just phenomenal. Nothing wrong with the regular ones mind you. I just got spoiled with the sweet potato version. They have plenty of parking available and outside seating too. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Plus the inside is nicely decorated with various prints and paintings.

Yelp
Man, who knew a southern bbq place would be selling sushi? Ordered grilled red snapper and oh man.... No bueno. Since we ordered through Door Dash, we didn't have the opportunity to have them correct it like we could have if we were in the restaurant. Shouldn't matter though. The quality should be good enough where you wouldn't have to get it corrected. Everything else was good, which is why I didn't give just one star, but this was the only thing that my husband could eat since he doesn't eat meats, so he ended up very hungry.

Yelp
I was in the area recently and found Felix's BBQ through Yelp. We decided to try this place for lunch after reading the positive reviews. The menu had many tasty options, and we chose among the Lunch Box specials. I ordered the Baby Back Ribs lunch special and enjoyed the flavors and perfectly tender meat of the ribs. The coleslaw was okay, but a bit too tart and overdressed. I also overlooked the missing fries until after I finished my meal. I hope to be aware of that next time since they were part of the lunch box special. The cornbread was delicious; two pieces were given to each person at our table. The others in our party also enjoyed the food they ordered. The service was kind and attentive, even though we sat outside. There's plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside the door. The reviews are well justified, and I would dine here again if I were in the area. A solid 3.5 stars.

Yelp
Them cornbreads smacked. Super happy I came here. I'm from the east coast and lived in states where BBQ is everywhere. SD doesn't have great bbq but this was one of the better ones by far. Came here on Juneteenth. Lots of love being shown by the community this day. Getting a seat was difficult. I wanted to sit outside so we waited 15 minutes to get it wiped down and ready for us. They must've been understaffed because it did take awhile to get served but it was all good. Came around 2pm and it was still the lunch time special which was 12 dollars for a main, a couple of cornbreads, and a side. With additional sides costing 3 extra dollars. I think that was a dope box. It filled me up but didn't stuff me up which is perfect. I went with the Mac n cheese sides and candied yams. The yams were great. The Mac n cheese did the job but wasn't the star of the show. I paired well with the bbq rib tips which was juicy and had a nice amount of fat on it. My homeboy who came with had the St. Louis ribs and cleaned his plate. He had it with hoppin john which is a mix of rice, Black eyed peas, and pork. Come thru and grab yourself a plate. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. People walked in hangry and left happy.

Yelp
We stopped in and had the lunch special. Wow - great value for $12. You can choose from a variety of entrees and sides. It also comes with cornbread. The fried and bbq chicken entrees were great! Our servers were attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is casual and clean with a New Orleans vibe. We ordered ribs and shrimp to go! That came with baked beans and potato salad or your choice of sides plus more cornbread. Good food, nice people, and great value = 5 stars.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for a while. My son suggested it as he usually comes with his dad. He said they share the sampler platter so that's what we did. They were out of baby back ribs, collard greens and candied yams that day which was disappointing as I wanted to try the candied yams or maybe the collard greens. We ended up getting the St. Louis ribs, pulled pork, Tri tip and brisket with 2 orders of mac, sweet potato fries and potato salad. All of the meats were tender, flavorful and good quality. I did want a little more sauce but my son didn't ask for any too the end of the meal so if you think you want it saucy ask for more ahead of time. Sides were great too. I don't prefer a yellow potato salad with lots of pickles but I saw the photos so I knew what I was getting into sweet potato fries and mac were great. My grandpa got the brisket sandwich with regular fries and I didn't care for the regular fries. They are what places call "seasoned" fries with that particular crust on the outside. FYI each meals comes with 2 cornbread muffins which are super tasty and I love that the butter wasn't served cold. Service was excellent and I'd love to come back for the Sunday brunch.

Lea T.

Yelp
I order the sample platter to go got home the sides were all good but the meat is so tough and didn't able to eat it and one of the meat is wrong I ask for brisket and didn't get ... we always go to you guys but I don't want to make it a big deal I'm just kinda disappointed that I need to adress just for good intentions and bring it to your attention... don't served things like that

Tina K.

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious. We want to go back soon. This is definitely authentic BBQ!! The fried chicken was crisp and tender. The ribs easily fell off the bones. The service was excellent. The waitress kept coming back to see if we needed anything else. Loved the decor. It was simple, clean, and bright.
google avatar

Noelle E.

Yelp
I'm so sad because I really was looking forward to this place... getting us seated was fast enough. But then that was it... we were there sitting for over 15 mins and some change... and no one said hi or came to get our order.
google avatar

Hannah S.

Yelp
Customer service was 5/5, and that was my favorite thing about it. Also that they had live music sat night. I was not a fan of the food. Brisket was not tender and it was luke warm. It didn't look like appetizing. The mashed potatoes were extremely chunky. There were whole pieces of potato and both my husband and I could not eat it. It was extremely overpriced for the food we got. I only took a couple bites but it was nearly $30 per person.
google avatar

Henry T.

Yelp
Idk man, i just love this place. Food is amazing. Sometimes orders do get messed up, but they always make sure to get it right and I always appreciate that. Will always comeback here. Their lunch specials are to die for. Love love the chicken! I love chicken! Chicken is my fave. Chicken is life. Life is chicken.
google avatar

Terri H.

Yelp
Did our first take-out today to try based on the many reviews but we were very disappointed. The fried chicken just didn't have any flavor, the coke slaw was strangely sweet, and the mashed potatoes were clearly instant and gravy canned or packaged with no flavor. This will be our last try with Felix's!
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
This place was so packed on Father's Day earlier this year, we got it to go and ate on the patio at home. It was amazing and I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Lin J.

Yelp
The atmosphere was so cute. They had a piano player that made it such a great experience. The food was delicious and the service was on point. I would definitely go back. I was looking for soul food being from North Carolina and this place hit the spot. Will definitely go back
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered the Sampler Platter and not only was the chicken horribly dry and the brisket hard like beef jerky... I the sampler made me throw up (both ends) all night. Threw the entire order in the trash Then when I called the next day to give them a heads up, they said a manager would call me back in 48hrs. Still haven't received a call over a week ago. Avoid!

Yelp
Hankering for some bbq and Yelp suggested Felix BBQ with Soul. What an amazing place to eat!!! Greeted as soon as we walked in and seated promptly. The waitress was so sweet and kind. The menu had plenty to choose from. You even get complimentary cornbread- which was DELICIOUS! We ordered brisket, pulled pork, ribs and baked chicken. Mac n cheese, baked beans and potato salad. Let me tell you- mmmm mmmm mmm- yummy!!! Everything tasted so delicious, hot and perfect! So come check this place out!! Absolutely amazing!! Only con: seating needs to be recushioned - I can feel the wood.

Leslie L.

Yelp
Food was excellent my husband got chicken and waffles. I couldn't believe he ate the whole thing. It was so good. He said I got a dinner salad, which was also excellent. We will be going back soon and the price is very good. Waitress has been there. she said five years and she was also excellent. I just loved this place. It was very nice when we walked in. we got served right away. I got an iced tea and it was also excellent nice and fresh.
google avatar

Carly T.

Yelp
Oh felix!!! Tried this tasty spot for the 1st time and the shrimp po boy was so good! The fries were tasty. The cornbread - omg...everything was delicious! Cant wait to go back! The service was great, the atmosphere is nice. Prices were good too for the portion size!
google avatar

Carolyne T.

Yelp
The service is extreeeeemellyyyy slowwwww as the servers/staff do not have any sense of urgency. The cornbread is the star here--seriously amazing, especially if you get it hot straight out of the oven. I would honestly come back just for that. The ribs were tender but surprisingly plain; they really needed some BBQ sauce to bring them to life. We were recommended the chicken and waffles, but I wouldn't bother--the chicken was more like shriveled-up tenders and on the dry side. On the upside, the mac and cheese was pretty good--cheesy and comforting. If you don't mind waiting and just want some solid sides (and cornbread heaven), it's worth a visit. Otherwise, manage your expectations.

Yelp
Look, we just left Felix's BBQ extremely happy customers & we ordered so much food I'm confident to tell you it was all super good & there are plenty of options, so just go right now & enjoy excellent service, a welcoming great atmosphere, incredible live music on Friday (this guy was like a mix of Odetta & Mick Hucknell from Simply Red, a real talent!!) and of course, super bomb bbq & soul food. If you don't like to read, don't bother with the rest, just click for directions & bring your hungriest self because you'll want to have room for the fresh apple pie & real peach cobbler - they're better a la mode!! Ask for Beverly, she's a wonderful woman & the server you always want when you're out to eat- friendly, fun, efficient, quick with the sauces & refills, etc. She's a real beauty who made our visit extra enjoyable! If you've made it this far I'll keep going & get into the details. First Beverly dropped off a basket heaping, warm, melt in your mouth corn bread that absorbed the butter on contact. As soon as that basket hit our table, I knew the food would be great, & was not disappointed! We started with a bowl of gumbo & the butter-fly fried shrimp plate with steamed vegetables a sweet potato fries. The gumbo was zesty & tasty over a generous portion of perfectly cooked fluffy white rice. The gumbo is a total winner- topped with two big shrimp & filled with large chunks of sausage it zings & zangs in all the ways you want a gumbo to zip!! The shrimp plate was piled with 18 perfectly cooked big shrimp & seasoned to perfection. We asked for tartar sauce which was homemade and a perfect compliment. The vegetables were steamed but still firm, not hard, mushy or over cooked & the sweet potato fries we also cooked perfectly - hot, crispy & chewy in all the right ways. Our boys got two plates of chicken & waffles & we shared a Cobb salad & a plate of St. Louis ribs with more vegetables & Mac & cheese. It was all fantastic with the chicken & waffles being the real standout on this second round! Big, hot, fluffy & golden brown - clearly a homemade mix that one seven year old hurt himself finishing because he said he couldn't stop eating them. Two big chicken breast's with each plate meant we knew we weee bringing home lunch tomorrow, but I was not ready for how crispy & juicy & delicious the seasoning took that chicken to a whole other level!! The St. Louis ribs are bigger & meatier than their baby back counter part, and the portion was so generous that despite our best efforts we still had a couple ribs left over too, but it wasn't from lack of trying! Upon the first bite of the Mac & cheese Anthony remarked, "Oh, real Mac & cheese!" If you're gonna call yourselves a soul BBQ joint you better show up with an out of the park Mac & cheese & Felix cracked a walk off homer in that department. The Cobb salad is generous & fresh, with a pile of blue cheese, whole hard boiled egg, salty sweet bacon & a nice portion of chicken. While we we all over stuffed already & should have tapped out, the boys won their soccer match & I had to use that as an excuse to order the peach cobbler. Again, a place like this has to deliver a great cobbler with that distinctive cobbler crust smothered in great fruit filling & this cobbler is a real winner. I loved it, and the whipped cream was a tasty touch. The apple pie is a basic dish, but with a lot of range between okay & out of sight. This apple pie is homemade, a great crust, a big portion & full of cinnamon sweet chunks of apple. Simply put, the dessert plates were finished fast even though everyone said they were too full to eat any!!! These desserts were so good & reasonably priced, I'd encourage someone who just wanted to go out for a coffee & dessert to hit Felix's spot! They were that good. If you've made it this far, you're probably hungry. I'd suggest you head over to Felix's !! Thank you again, Beverly!

Yelp
I had the fried Catfish. It was perfect! Fried light, flaky and seasoning was perfect. I got a cup of gumbo. Not the place to go for gumbo. But would definitely try something else from the menu.

Yelp
Today, my ladies, lunch group of 7 met here. Everybody ordered something different but my baby back ribs were definitely the favorite. There was a lot of meat on the bones and I brought half of them home with me. Others said there were some gristle in their meat, but overall the food was really good and plenty of it! The lunchbox menu for $12 Can't be beat and if you want more, you can add another side dish for three dollars. I did this as there's just so many wonderful things to choose from! The service was outstanding. I believe our server's name was Mirabel or something similar to that.(my apologies). Not much to say about ambience, but we were able to get a corner seat where everybody could be together and it seemed to work out pretty well. Everybody was happy overall with their meals so I think that's a great success.

Yelp
Phenomenal food, great service, and welcoming ambiance. Tried this restaurant for the first time on Saturday and had to go back already (it's now Monday). I have a feeling this will be our new go to. Service and ambiance: We were greeted warmly by the hostess and our server was amazing as well. We were well taken care of with our questions and checked on just the right amount of times. The live music added a really nice touch while dining. The atmosphere was relaxed and homey in a good way! Food: Get their Louisiana Cajun pasta. The flavor is incredible. The spice is mild but definitely detectable. The amount of meat is generous. I ordered it both times we've been now and I can't stop raving about how good it is. Their brisket is also delicious and tender. I like the options on the kids menu. My son loved the sautéed shrimp. The price-point is very reasonable which is harder and harder to find. Complimentary cornbread is served warm and is hard to not fill up on! All in all, you need to go to Felix's if you haven't been yet. It will not disappoint!

Yelp
Probably one of the most disappointing meals I have had in a while. I ordered chicken and baby back ribs, braised cabbage, pecan pie, and cole slaw. Ribs tasted bland... they appeared to have been sitting under a heating lamp for quite a while... mainly the ribs only as the chicken was fresh but bland tasting. Braised cabbage pretty good, but cole slaw lacked any real flavor. The pecan pie was good too. Where is the soul because I seemed to miss it and as someone who has travelled and eaten in St. Louis, Louisiana, Alabama, Texas... just felt it was missing. Because of this, I probably won't be back.

Yelp
Amazing BBQ! I've had Felix's once a week for the past three weeks and it's fantastic. I've tried the brisket, tri-tip, mac n cheese, baked beans and cornbread, and everything is just perfect. So grateful to have such yummy BBQ down the street. Thank you!

Yelp
We go there at least once a week for the lunch box special and Allie is always friendly and hard worker there, she needs a good raise. Love all the other employees abd food is good catfish and Alabama style chicken and the garlic shrimp with sides like coleslaw and collard greens

Yelp
What Soul? Loved the menu, went there for BBQ, but was liken the southern half of the menu more, still, I ordered the BBQ Got the 3 item mix. I would not have served any of them. Sides were what I expected, which is not a compliment. Ordered a noodle dish to go and some peach cobbler. Both were good. Moral of the story, don't be stubborn, go with your gut.

Yelp
Boy was I craving this BBQ all week! I couldn't wait to try this spot out. I read all the great reviews on Yelp. And was craving some good soul food. But it really didn't deliver. My partner who grew up on soul food from the south, and he wasn't impressed either. I was disappointed overall. There were some good and bad things here. I'll start with the good. Those bread rolls they brought to the table with butter. Sooooooo tasty! Buttery and had a nice corn bread like flavor. Delicious. I loved those. 10/10 The fried okra was also good. I've never had this before, but my partner has. He said this was very good. 10/10 for the fried okra. The candied yams were a wonderful treat. Very sweet and yummy. I loved those. 10/10 for the yams. The pulled pork was good as well. 8/10 for pulled pork. Now for the bad. The Mac and cheese tasted like mush. No flavor. Overcooked noodles. It was a a pile of mush. Not good at all. We both didn't eat our macaroni and cheese. 2/10 for the Mac. The mashed potatoes had chunks of potato skin in it. Gross. It was clumpy. Mashed potatoes 2/10. Sweet potato fries had zero flavor or seasoning. They just fried sweet potato and put it on a plate. Didn't even have salt. 2/10 for sweet potatoes. The gumbo was really grainy. And the meat and seafood was over powered in this dish. Gumbo 1/0. It was really hit or miss depending on the item. We ordered just about everything on the menu to try. And half of it was just not good. The other half was decent. I'm really sad this place wasn't better. Waste of a $100 for me. Just not worth it at all.

Yelp
It's raining again.  I seem to visit when it rains.  This time I'm here to try the Sunday brunch.   Baby back ribs were tender and had a delicious black pepper based dry rub with hints of brown sugar.  St. Louis pork ribs had a delicious dry rub and was tender.  Fried chicken wings had a unique Alabama style batter.  Loved the crunchy texture.  Fried catfish had a delicious cornmeal batter and tender juicy catfish.BBQ chicken was very juicy and had a delicious hickory smoked flavor.  7 Up cake had a hint of 7 UP flavor.  Nice crunchy outer crust and soft, moist insides.  Reminds me of homemade... Sunday brunch is a great way to sample a bunch of Felix's best dishes.  When busy everything is hot and fresh just look when they cook to order.  When it's not busy some of the meats can dry out from too much time in the warming trays.  This is my fav place in town for fried catfish and they keep it fresh by only putting out a small amount at a time.  I also picked up an apple pie on the way out.  Crust had a hint of butter and had a nice mild flavor which didn't distract from the apple filling.  Top crust was also nice and crunchy.  Apple filling had delicious apple flavor with a bit of sweetness.  This is one of my favorite spots to get apple pie as there is a nice balance of flavor between the crust and apple filling.  Store bought pies tend to rely too much on sugar to give them flavor. On another visit I tried the beef back ribs and fried catfish.  Very good quality beef ribs with a good amount of meat on the bone.  Beef was tender and not dry.  Light hickory flavor from 8 hours of smoking.  I loved the sweet Alabama style sauce basted onto the ribs.  This is one of my favorite spots to eat beef ribs.   Loved the crispy cornmeal batter with delicate catfish beneath. Snickerdoodle cookie was crunchy on the outside with a soft center.  Delicious sugar cookie and cinnamon sugar flavor. Oatmeal cookie was soft with a sweet oatmeal flavor.  I remember when the little mall opened in 2008 and Felix's Bbq was one of the first tenants.  Felix's was one of my favorite spots to eat bbq, fried chicken, and fried catfish.  I don't see Felix that often as he has 2 other branches now but his staff has continued the tradition of providing excellent hospitality.  Hope Felix opens a branch closer to home so I can visit more often.
