"This unique playground located towards the northern end of Hyde Park has an enormous pirate ship, a sandy beach, teepees, and mini houses to climb in and out of—all in the spirit of Peter Pan. Most of the facilities are wooden and beautifully designed. Parents can hang out at the café which serves casual fare."

Such a lovely spot! My 2.5-year-old had so much fun splashing around, and she loved the pudding too. The water is nice and shallow, so it felt safe. We grabbed some takeaway and spent a relaxed Sunday afternoon there. Perfect summer vibes!

Beautiful design, one of the most simple and meaningful landscaping designs. As an architect I loved it but not sure if it is for everyone taste. Don't skip it if you have the chance, you can still walk around the park.

Absolutely love visiting the Princess Diana Fountain at Richmond Park! 🌿 The scenery is stunning ; wide open spaces, peaceful ponds, and deer roaming freely (just admire them from a distance, especially during birthing season). It’s perfect for long walks, and if you’re up for it, you can wander all the way to Kingston in about 2–3 miles. Parking is easy, there’s a cosy coffee shop right by the car park, and restaurants aren’t far if you fancy a proper meal. A gorgeous place to spend the whole day soaking in nature.

A wonderful place – very clean and well-maintained. The atmosphere was lively, with many parents and children enjoying themselves and playing in the fountain. It felt cheerful and welcoming.

This is a very understated memorial. It's basically a stream that goes around in a circle with one side having a miniature waterfall. There are a few low cement bridges (Pretty much just a continuation of the sidewalk) to walk across to get to the grassy middle. Also near the waterfall is an engraving on the inside of one of the stone pavements with the inscription "Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain opened by Her Majesty The Queen on 6th July 2004." It's a nice peaceful respite away from all the hustle and bustle of the streets of London. It's also kid friendly. When we went there was a little boy and girl who were completely soaked trying to wrestle each other down into the water. There were also parents holding their children's hands as they stomped on the calf high water.

A very beautiful and peaceful place in Hyde Park. The fountain is clean, well-designed, and relaxing to watch. Children can play in the water, and it's a nice spot to sit and rest.

Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain – A Quiet Tribute in Kensington Gardens During our recent visit to Kensington Gardens, we made a stop at the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain. Given Princess Diana’s legacy and the significance of the memorial, we arrived with high expectations, imagining something more majestic and imposing. Instead, what we found was a modest, modern tribute — one that emphasizes reflection and accessibility over grandeur. The fountain is designed as a large, oval-shaped stream made of 545 pieces of Cornish granite, with water gently flowing down both sides before meeting in a calm pool at the bottom. It invites people to walk around it, touch the water, or even dip their feet in on warm days — which many children and families were doing. The interactive aspect of the design encourages a sense of community and peace, in line with the spirit of Diana herself. Still, it left us a bit underwhelmed. While the symbolism of inclusion and movement is admirable, the overall appearance felt quite plain, especially when compared to more traditional royal monuments. There are no statues, floral arrangements, or towering structures — just a flowing loop of water in a grassy open area. In the end, although we appreciated the quiet simplicity and message behind the fountain, it didn’t quite match the emotional impact or visual elegance we had hoped for. That said, it’s still a peaceful stop in the gardens, especially on a warm day, and meaningful to those who remember Diana's kindness and legacy.

Beautiful spot! This was one of the first places I stopped in London, and it was so sweet to watch all of the children and families playing. If you don't like being around kids this isn't the place for you -- but for everyone else, it's a beautiful landscape piece and nice free amenity for children and adults alike, particularly in the heat.
