Coby Club

Booked ahead of time for a large reservation of 12 for Friday evening, 7:30pm. Service was fast and attentive (contrary to what others mentioned). We were seated in one of the L shaped couch lounge area in the back. Drinks and food were good. Vibes and ambience were on point. My rec to ensure a smooth evening is get there earlier in the night. The live singer came on around 9ish, but honestly, we were having a blast since arriving at 7:30

The atmosphere was oriental jazz with cute sections for grouping people. We got the charcuterie board and it was not good. The meats were not taste at all. There was no mustard and fig jam or any sauce at all… it was just a bunch of meats and cheese on a plate. I did like the cheese though. Then it had grapes and some cut up strawberries. It was meh. The drinks were good. We had the espresso martini and little miss yee. But the service was not coordinated and we were left with the bill for 20 minutes after putting the card in. We had to call someone to take the bill to charge it. For auto charging 20% for tip, this is not excepted service.

To be honest, this place is really good. I read some of the bad reviews, and it seems like people are expecting VIP service or something high-end. But for what you’re paying, those expectations are a bit much. What I really liked about this place, especially compared to so many other spots in NYC, are the prices. In this area, the average price for a cocktail is around $20, but here, they keep it below that—even for a speakeasy. And the cocktails are genuinely tasty. I tried the sliders and croquettes, and both were delicious. The space itself isn’t huge, which gives it a cozy, warm vibe. As for the entertainment, there’s someone singing classic jazz songs. It’s a nice touch—not a huge show, but they don’t charge extra for it, unlike other places. Overall, it’s a great spot. My friend and I had a really good time, and I even came back for a date. It’s not a party scene, but it’s perfect for a date night or a relaxed catch-up with friends.

Loved this place!! First time here this past Saturday evening—had prior reservations so we were seated right away. Definitely speak easy vibes—also dim lit, with beautiful decor! They do offer some light bites and have a variety of cocktails—the Pagoda Royale (vodka martini) was pretty strong, just how I like it—and tasty. They also have blue-cheese stuffed olives! For light bites, the Calamari and Bang Bang Shrimp were both okay, nothing too special. And finally, service was great—our server was friendly and attentive! I would definitely come back!

Went to Coby Club for my birthday and had such a great time! The vibes are 10/10 – super chic and energetic. The drinks were amazing; I especially loved my Cosmo, it was perfectly made. The music kept the energy high all night, and the crowd was fun and stylish, which really added to the whole experience. Only thing I’d wish for is a few more vegetarian food options on the menu, but overall, an incredible night. Can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely perfect venue for NYE. It feels like a bar in an Indiana Jones movie. Fair price for the NYE package. Intimate and not too loud. My husband and I had a lovely time. NYE is for amateurs but Coby Club struck all the right notes for us. We are discerning long time NYers with experience in the service industry.

This spot was OK. I’m not rushing back to experience this speakeasy anytime soon. Ive been wanting to check this spot out for a minute so I am happy to see what the hype was all about. Although they do take walk ins, I strongly recommend reservations. We came here previously as a walkin and werent able to get in. Its not that big to begin with. We were seated next to the bathroom which I thought was a terrible location for a seat. We came on jazz night. The performances last about 15-20 mins but shes not centrally located in the speakeasy. So if youre not sitting in the front you dont get to see the performance. The drinks are average, nothing memorable. We really just came for the vibes. The theme has this Asian or Chinese theme. Everyone was dressed casual like in jeans and sneakers which I thought was odd considering theres a sign in the front that says ‘proper attire’. I liked that the sound wasnt over powering to a point where I couldn’t have a conversation, so that was nice. Overall, a cute spot but theres better out there.

If you have a damn private event then you let the public know that. Wasting my damn time to come to the city for you to announce it at the door. That's what social media is for! Everything is saying they are open.

Cool little dive bar with immaculate, cozy vibes and decent drinks. I got the Singapore sling, a gin forward sweet concoction. It was tasty with a good amount of alcohol. Service was decent and responsive. The decor walked a line of elegant with an edge. My favorite part was when noise of the patrons dimmed and the live bossa nova performance began. I'd love to come back just for the intimate jazzy experience.

What a cool and interesting lounge in NYC! This cool and retro bar has a speakeasy-vibe, and is rumored to have an eclectic rotating calendar of cool performers. We made reservations for a Tuesday night and stumbled into amazing vocals of a bygone era. The menu was interesting and creative, though you do pay on the high side of NYC prices. The staff were beautiful and everyone we encountered had personality! We had a great time, though as southern, had a bit of sticker shock when we received our bill.

Amazing hidden gem! Cozy, cool jazz bar with intimate seating and AHMAZING drinking no's mixed by Nick my favorite bar tender! Conscientious service by Kelly and Emile made for a perfect evening!!! Highly recommend for yummy apps, scrumptious drinks and incredible ambiance!!!

Amazing interior but the drinks are extremely disappointing. Went with a group of 5, and every drink was extremely lackluster. Not worth the visit tbh

Would give this 3.5 stars. The atmosphere and vibe of the space was very cool. Paneled walls with intimate booth seating areas separated by hanging beads and low light lighting made for a classic speakeasy feel. Drinks we had- Pagoda Royale w/gin; Queen of the Night, Dragon Tail, bartenders choice, and a village mule mocktail. The drinks were just fine but not overly exciting Food - sliders, truffle fries, and croquettes. The croquettes and truffle fries had great flavor. The fries were a little annoying to eat though because they were mostly all small pieces. The sliders would have been better balanced with a sharper cheese or tomato jam. The disappointing thing was that we had selected Coby Club for the live music but the performer only did two songs. We initially thought that she was just opening but no additional performer came on. Not really sure if that is normal or not.

Went for NYE as they had a ticketed event that seemed great on paper.. we paid $130 each with taxes and fees, and left quite disappointed. This NYE ticket was a TOTAL SCAM. There was one off-key singer on the mic for maybe a total of 15 minutes over the course of the 2 hours we were there. Zero instruments in sight (a crime for a jazz club). The service was awful as we asked for water 3 times and it took my boyfriend going to the bar himself to get it. The "small bites" were a Walmart quality charcuterie board and beyond soggy. Also served on a disposable plastic tray. Barf. The champagne served at midnight for a midnight toast was undrinkable. Truly criminal given how much we paid for these tickets. The drinks on the menu were fine, but subpar for NYC standards. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Tl;dr - Vibes are immaculate but everything else is incredibly underwhelming. Coby Club is meant to be reminiscent of 1950s San Francisco Chinatown. The decor emulates just that, and the music is sultry and alluring. They take reservations via Resy, and every table fills up quickly. We had a group of 3 and got a whole couch area to ourselves, so it felt comfortable and roomy. They have different performers throughout the week, and I went on a night where it was a burlesque show. The performance was great but shorter than I thought. When I go to a bar like this I expect cocktails to be expertly crafted. In theory, all cocktails on the menu sound creative and all infused with Asian-inspired flavors. The execution however, was lacking. The Beijing sling tasted like bitter bath water. The monkey temple incorporated eggwhites which is usually an indicator of a good craft cocktail, but the way it was blended weighed the drink down too much and was difficult to stomach. The bar for my expectations was already on the floor but somehow the food plunged the bar to new depths. For bar food I don't expect anything particularly amazing but.. yikes. The fries were unevenly salted; some pieces were as salty as the sea, some were as bland as paper. Bang bang shrimp straight up tasted microwaved. The firecracker shrimp from your local Trader Joe's is less likely to disappoint you.

Had reservations for this swanky place on a Friday night at 6:30 pm. The entrance was a bit difficult to find but it's basically a small alley entrance next to the Elmo restaurant. I believe it's part of the Elmo restaurant so you can probably also enter through there. Upon arriving we got our ID's checked the. We got to pick any of the comfy lunge seating available to sit at. My friend and I ordered two cocktails and shared sliders and truffle fries. The food was delicious and loved the ambience. It was beautifully decorated and great place for a date or girls night out. Overall, cute and fun place but felt a bit rushed by our waiter which was annoying especially on a weekend.

This place was so beautiful, definitely worth the wait. Been dying to go back to New York to go here. We just went for drinks and small bites before dinner. Definitely a favorite now.. Our service was fast , food and drinks were great. A great place for date night or fun with friends.

I loved this spot! The vibe is dark, swanky, sexy, and cool. The decor had a throwback vibe. I read that there were pop up performances and definitely didn't expect a burlesque strip tease! She rocked it and it was so fun. Make sure to get the last drink on the menu (if only I could remember what it was!)

The drinks were pretty bad here. None of us like the drink. It is def a cozy and romantic place. They had music for 15 mins which felt very less.

Drink menu is limited, drinks aren't worth raving about, and service took longer than expected. The ambiance and music were great, nonetheless. There is an option for the bartender to build a drink around a spirit of your choice and unfortunately after asking something to be made out of Frangelico, the drink I received back was totally different. In summary, great environment but not so good drinks and service.

This place was so cute! My friend told me about this place because of TikTok (loll) took my friends from out of town here- so it seemed like I was a coool New Yorker! The drinks were delicious, the live music was tasteful, and the ambience was amazing. Cute spot for a date night or a night to impress your friends. It is a tad dark in there butttt it's part of the vibe. Also, the service was great. Very attentive and nice, didn't feel ignored at all

I discovered Colby Club and we waited less than 5 minutes on line. We got a table and ordered 2 cocktails. Ambience was great and service was good. Until they were closing and the server he forgot my friends 2nd drink order and was so rude about it. He had a terrible smirk on his face. He only brought out mine and not hers. I mean who turns down business? lol

Tucked away from the streets of New York, Coby Club is located underground with a small entrance on 6th. The speakeasy was intimate, with a menu and venue inspired by Chinese tastes. We made a reservation for a table and there was a large selection of food and drink items to pick from. The service was very quick. Overall, a good time at the Coby Club.

I was so excited to try this spot, and I loved the execution of the decor and the vibe--as well as the incorporation of a live performer, but the service was consistently abysmal, and the product was fine, but ultimately way too standard and unexceptional to compensate. We were seated at "the bar" which I was pleasantly surprised is just a long high top--no sitting at the actual bar (fine at most spots, but felt like a place you wanted your cozy aside). Ordered two drinks along with a couple of sides (cheese plate, truffle fries). Drinks came reasonably enough. No food. For like a good 30 minutes. Couldn't find waitress, so had to go to the bar an inquire. Food came another 20+ minutes later--waitress admitted she completely forgot, apologized, so while a bit hangry, I figured no harm. Then we ordered a second round of drinks which again took forever to arrive, and came out wrong twice (waitress came by twice with wine, which we didn't order, and seemed alternately insistent or desperate that we just take the wine). I asked for the check as soon as the second round came, but we still had to remind her to bring it a second time as we were finishing. Nothing like being made to feel completely invisible. As noted, drinks were fine, but nothing of the quality I expect from an upscale cocktail bar/speakeasy at this price point. The midnight whiskey sour looked pretty and was good, though not an exceptional improvement on the original. And for all its ingredients, the Contessa felt like a glorified Negroni.  Food was equally fine, but not in any way special. Enjoyed the performer-- Natalie Joy Johnson--had the style and panache of a drag show. Can't help but wonder if our server, Heather, was having a bad night, or just not cut out for this. It's an interesting spot for sure, but that alone does not make for a place worth visiting.

The drinks are good at the show is amazing and the decor or so nice. however, the hostess is the most miserable person I've ever seen in my life. Almost seems like an angry robot or maybe having a mental health crisis. I would like to find out when she's not here and come back.

Had a really good experience here at Coby Club. Love love love the speakeasy vibes here, and even without a reservation you are able to be seated at the bar which is a lot of seating surprisingly. Service could have been a bit better but it was a Saturday night and I understand there were a lot of guests. Music was a bit loud but most of the songs fit the vibe. Drinks were good too. Would come back and bring other guests!

Had a great time at Coby Club. Music is pretty loud. Make a reservation if you want a couch/lounge chair otherwise there is bar seating available. Good ambiance and vibe. Drink menu doesn't have prices. I got the pineapple mexcal drink which was very good. I'll be back!

I'm giving this a three stars for the ambiance. We made a reservation and we're seated right away. Unfortunately our seat was right by the bathroom which isn't too much a of a problem, it was still a nice set up but, it was really awkward having people walk in and out in front of us. The only thing I have a problem with was the service. Our server whom I forgot to catch her name took 30 minutes to get us our waters and then we had to ask twice for someone to get the drinks we ordered. By this time we were still waiting on the small appetizer we ordered and when she finally came to our table she informed us they actually weren't serving it anymore and the kitchen was closing soon. I really wanted to love this place and would still recommend it if you're looking for somewhere to sit and not get your drinks and food right away. Xx

I thought this would be the best way to end our New York trip. And honestly I think it was worth it. The vibe and the place checked out. We didn't do a reservation for this place but it's something you should definitely do as this place is small and can fill up fast. We got lucky that night since someone had cancelled a reservation. We got a table right by the jazz performer that night. Which honestly was pretty amazing. My friend and I had a great time enjoying the performance as we sipped on our espresso martinis. The service in this lounge was a little slow so we had to wait bit of time to order drinks. But otherwise this place was super cute and definitely a spot to check out when you come to NY.

Cute spot. Will probable never go back. Very nice atmosphere and drinks were decent, but if you come for one of the burlesque shows you'll probably leave disappointed. Not sure if this is normal, but when we came last Saturday the performance only consisted of one dance. There was only one performer, who was absolutely fabulous, but she did one song and that was it. Was expecting maybe a costume change and another dance after a short break since she was solo, but that was not the case. Maybe there was another one later in the evening, but overall was much shorter of a set than I was expecting. Additionally, the service was abysmal. Horrendously slow and we kept having to re-ask for our order, waters, the check, etc. We were also seated at the "bar", which is not by the actual bar where they make drinks but rather a long skinny rail barely deep enough for a single plate with wobbly stools. Not very comfortable if you plan, as we had, to stay a while.

Found myself in the area and was delighted to be able to reserve a table for two for 8:15 last night. My girlfriend and I were severely underdressed; there was only one other person wearing a t-shirt, and he also looked somewhat self-conscious about it. I'd advise dressing to impress and wearing clothes that highlight your best features and assets. Entrance is a small doorway with a sharp young man standing in front. Once cleared to enter, descend a staircase and walk through the door on the right: someone will show you to your table. We received a pair of comfortable couches facing each other on either side of a long, narrow table. The decor is a huge draw. I bet it would blow your mind to be in here while micro-dosing as the fabrics, colors, textures, and designs are already quite a trip. I know nothing of the San Francisco nightclub scene that informs Coby's design, but I approve. The food menu is a brief selection of tapas-style small plates. The croquettes are phenomenal and the pizzetta also quite nice (red onions on pizza tickle my fancy). The cocktails are a huge draw. While we were ambivalent about the Pineapple Paradise and the Forbidden City (both good, quite sweet, not mind-blowing) , the Burnt Orange Old-fashioned and an extra dirty Bombay gin martini were ravishingly enjoyable. Strong, too. A jazz trio began playing standards, and we savored our drinks before heading out. While I would not recommend this place for large groups, it's an excellent second spot for a first date, and will likely win over your snootiest of friends. I'd like to return on a Saturday for burlesque, though there are performances every night of the week (calendar on their website). Next time, I promise to dress appropriately.

Had a reservation here on a Friday night and had the best seat in the house. This speakeasy is one of the best I've been to in the city. The vibes are early 1900s SF Chinatown. There was live music featuring era-appropriate songs so it literally felt like I was transported back in time. Every drink I ordered was fantastic and the service was so accommodating and attentive. Please date a friend or date here if you want to impress!

This new spot opened up recently and did not disappoint! I was able to book when a last minute resy popped up for 6pm. The staff was very friendly and not so snooty like other NYC cocktail bar venues, creating a warm and welcoming environment. The space is very intimate and cozy with jazz music in the background, perfect date vibes or a small gathering of friends. We ordered a round of the Miss Yee, Forbidden City, and Shanghai Nights. Shanghai Nights was my favorite, light and refreshing with açaí purée (a unique cocktail ingredient!). I would definitely try to come back when there are live performances.

Lovely lounge/speakeasy just newly opened and in a great area. Drinks were SUPER strong and the ambience was 10/10. Dimly lit with red oriental walls. Heard they also have live music, but there wasn't one this past Saturday. I will definitely be back.

05.20.2022 - No reservations available. Website states, "Walk-ins Welcome". I plan my night around going here with my wife and sister (who is visiting from N.C.). Woman at the door tells me they are packed and we cannot come in. I plead my case, respectfully, that the website states that walk-ins are welcome, and that several people have left. No dice. I ask if there is a manager available that I can plead my case with. The manager, "Kat" approaches, completely disinterested, and asks what is going on. I explain things to her. "I don't see why she would be lying", Kat says (woman at the door). "Nobody said she was", I reply. Again, I explain to Kat what the website says, people have left, etc. Complete disinterest. Kat tells us that we can't come in. I tell Kat she can expect, "three shit reviews", and on cue, she hastily walks off. Kat has been here before. Kat has zero patience, even when you are respectful. Kat is bad for business. Luckily for Coby Club and Kat, NYC is packed with so many people that poor reviews aren't impactful, so neither their business, nor Kat's job are at risk. Hopefully they realize how well off they'd be without her. On a side note, the woman at the door was completely professional and helpful. We were kicked out. Read below. Made a reservation for 6 people.They sat me and two others and took our drink order. Two of us were wearing shorts. They then denied my friend upstairs because he was wearing shorts. When he pointed out that two of his friends downstairs were wearing shorts, they then came downstairs and kicked us out. We had no idea there was a dress code. It is 2022. What is this nonsense about a no shorts dress code? A woman with a skirt showing as much would have been welcomed. And to kick people out after you let them in and take their order?! That's classless. May NYC summer be brutally hot and they continue to have to deny themselves business. Happy pride! ‍

Love the singing ambience, and a tease of burlesque. Great place to celebrate NYE. Food was well prepared. Highly recommend.

First of all. The hostess is a miserable b*tch. I will never come back here unless she is fired. We had a RESERVATION and were sat in the corner at a dirty high top table near the drafty door. I asked nicely if we could be moved to a booth, and the hostess said she "can't deal with me right now." An older gentleman came to ask her the same question directly after me, and she accommodated him. I have no idea why such a miserable human is working in the service industry. Be prepared to get discriminated against for no reason. Go somewhere else where you get treated better. Also drinks were mid and the food looked stale.

Please do yourself a favor and call ahead of time to make sure your "lounge seating" is not by the bathroom where the guests and wait staff are constantly walking in and out. Why would they even create a seating for two by the bathroom? Do they seriously think the customers will enjoy this? We booked this in advance and they should have let us know that we are getting the shit end of the stick. We asked the server if it's possible we can move to a better seat for two but he said the bar is fully booked and he might not be able to move us. Guess what, there were seatings for two but he didn't bother to check and move us there. This ruins the overall experience. I've never been so happy asking for the check, if we know where our server is...

Solid cocktail program, great place to relax on a date or with some friends. Drinks came out quickly and bartender was very sweet. My advice is to get something that isn't house liquor. You can get whatever you want for each cocktail which is always a huge plus!

Very cool subterranean lounge inspired by 1960s San Francisco Chinatown night life that serves great drinks and speakeasy vibes. The drinks we had were all unique and very well balanced and there's also a menu of small bites if you're feeling peckish. Coby Club it's located underneath a restaurant so if you want I think you could probably order from the menu upstairs because we were there for a little while and actually ordered a couple desserts from the restaurant that were really good! Overall it's a really really beautiful space the decor is very gorgeous and ornate, there's live music and mood lighting which make it a really wonderful spot for a date!

My only complaint was the charcuterie board we ordered only came with TWO slices of prosciutto and tons and tons of salami Will absolutely be back!

A whole vibe. You won't regret it. I felt like I was in a speakeasy from the 70s in San Francisco. It's very spacious inside and the bartenders make strong cocktails.

Coby Club is an absolute gem. I reserved 2 tables for a larger group and they were incredibly attentive and made sure we had the best time. The hostess and servers were so fun. We truly loved our cocktails and experience! Perfect for cocktails with a fun group but we also all agreed it would make an amazing date spot. Such good vibes!

A new lounge that opened up the past month or so that is already so popular. Arrived around 8pm and it was pretty low key but as the night went on, the place started to fill up. Great for small groups to grab drinks/tapas or a date night. It's underground with an intimate atmosphere. There's also live entertainment planned in the future once restrictions are more relaxed.

Horrible. Bad attitude. Made us wait in the stairs hallway outside the bar. Reservation was 830. Said no seats until at least 9. Never coming back.

Yummy drinks! Amazing ambiance. Yes it's expensive but it's New York City so that comes with the territory. It's super unique which I loved, as NYC bars tend to become repetitive after going to a bunch of them. Great for a special occiasion or date night!

Let me start off by saying this, Coby clubs ambiance was extremely nice! Host was really nice. Seating was great. This is not a place for you if you are disabled. Have to walk down many narrow hallway stairs. Drinks and food were horrible!!! That being said, I am from Northern California and really took the time to plan out my trip. One of the main things i I was interested in was speakeasy's with live music. I did a lot of searching and found the Cody Club. There were many other options but pictures and reviews caused me to pick this spot. Well ........... the singer was AMAZING!!!!!! Her name is Khailah Johnson and when i say amazing, I mean wowwwwww!!! The problem is her set was suppose to start at 10:50. She started at 11:06 and she was done ar 11:18!!!!!!! Really! I wasted the limited amount of time I have in New York on this?!! Come on Coby Club... really? Then after the blink of the eye set, when it's time mingle, the back ground music is soooooooo loud, my party and the parties around us were yelling at each other when we talk.

We were here for a friend's birthday. We were enjoying our drinks and before we knew it the bartenders closed us out with no reason. Our whole table were basically told to leave the club. Both bartenders also had an attitude when I asked why we were told to leave. No reason was given. What kind of bar just kicks their guests out for no good reason and give you a mouthful when you ask why they are behaving the way they are? You really shouldn't be working in hospitality with that kind of attitude and behavior. Go check yourself. I won't be coming here again or recommending this place to any of my friends. There are a million better bars in NYC to spend our night. First and last time here.

It was such a great ambiance. The place is very nice and the food was tasty. Small plates but tasty. The prices are very reasonable.

Cole, the host, is awesome. Great vibes for an after dinner drink. Definitely need a reservation though. Service is on the slow side but once served, the drinks are tasty. Will be back for sure.

Great ambiance and nice server but charging the SAME for a mocktail that you'd charge for alcohol is theft. Shameful. Now I see how they get away with no cover charge.

Solid little speakeasy style bar. Stunning interior of heavy drapes, patterned wallpaper and stylish furnishings. Craft cocktails and great service set the stage for cool live music. Def worth a visit To this legit uber cool lounge.
