The Palmwood

What a dream. We just got home after our first stay at The Palmwood. From being tucked into the mountains of the North Shore to the fresh breakfasts to the hospitality that goes the extra mile, we adored our time there. We stayed in the west room, which opens up to a clear view of the scenery. Kelly was our outstanding host and chef who was knowledgeable about the island, provided solid recommendations for food and beaches, considered dietary restrictions and made sure our water bottles were filled for our hikes. My husband and I had yet not discussed vacation plans for 2026, but after experiencing Kauai and The Palmwood, we are already planning our next stay for the upcoming spring. This place is exactly how it’s presented online - my husband says it’s even better in person.

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. Highlight of our trip . The amenities are incredible, especially the pool and private hot tub. The view is breathtaking. The breakfasts were the best meals we had in Kauai. Such wonderful staff (Kelly)!! HIGHLY recommend

The Palmwood is a special place. Far away from the tourist strips (yet just 15 min from Kilauea), it truly feels like your own serene corner of Kauai. Zero light pollution paves the way for stellar stargazing, and there’s an beautiful pool to boot! The grounds are immaculately maintained, full of flora and fauna. Be prepared to be awoken by the sound of 10,000 roosters in the early morning — it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it certainly made our mornings to rise early and watch the sunrise on the observation deck. Eddi and her team welcomed us with open arms, and the delicious morning breakfasts were an absolute highlight. We loved the fresh fruit and thoughtful preparations, as well as everything else about The Palmwood. We cannot wait to return.

We absolutely loved our stay. Beautiful views and quiet. Perfect if you enjoy a tranquil stay in nature a bit out of the way from the touristy spots. We had our own hot tub and outdoor shower which added to the luxury feeling. They took real trouble over breakfast to make it a special meal. The garden is beautiful too. There are a few rooms on the property but we didn’t really see or hear the other guests. No aircon but with the fan and the cool breeze in the evening that’s wasn’t an issue. It would have been nice to be able to make a cup tea or coffee as with jet lag we were up very early so at $500 per night a kettle in a room would be nice. There is a fridge though. Location is 4 stars as you 15 - 20min drive from anything so keep that in mind for meals out and if it rains heavily. We visited during the dry season and still had big storms. Definitely recommend this place to stay.

My wife and I stayed at the Palmwood for a week for our honeymoon/anniversary trip, and it was perfect! Quiet, secluded, & relaxing. Well situated (a short drive to the North Shore attractions, further to the South), fantastic breakfasts, and Eddi was a warm and helpful host. We've already recommended it to several other folks.

Beautiful secluded inn, hidden on a hilltop in tropical gardens and bamboo. Simple and sustainable, elegant and refined. We stayed in the newer room and the design is impeccable. No air conditioning but you don’t need it with the breeze flowing through from every angle. Private hot tub and sitting area are a huge plus. Breakfast was the favorite amenity, made to order each morning and brought to your room, full of local produce. Highly recommend!

We had the most incredible stay at The Palmwood. The remote and peaceful location / breathtaking views coupled with perfect accommodations (beautiful and comfortable room, outdoor shower amidst orchids overlooking the canyon, a personal hot tub!) were a dream. The best part to us was the beautiful breakfast prepared each morning by Kelly - unbelievably delicious, all food sourced from local purveyors and the property itself. Kelly had incredible recommendations for Kauai at large and was a joy to chat with. We cannot wait to come back!!

My partner and I were so lucky to stay at this beautiful sanctuary in the North Shore area of Kauai. Eddie was the most memorable host and delivers you the most incredible breakfast each morning that she hand prepares based off what the freshest produce for that day…going to miss that as we head back home! Sweet cats patrol the grounds so you feel extra safe ;) You cannot go wrong with staying at this place, we almost feel bad telling you about it, but selfishly everyone deserves to stay here and forget about their worries. Mahalo for everything!
