The taste of the food and size of the portions were excellent. The servers were very pleasant and accommodating which can be a rarity these days. They were very busy but finished every interaction with a smile. The only downside was that there was a limited number of servers so the service was on the slow side, although once we did place our orders, the food came out quickly. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in town. I highly recommend it.

Decent Chinese restaurant near UR campus. If you want to rly enjoy Chinese food here, do not go alone, but go with some party at least 4 and share the plates because one plate would be too large enough to get bored But if you have several different plates you may enjoy various flavors!! I have tried this with my friends: Braised Pork Belly Sour Mustard Boil Fish Beef Chow Fun (it was my favorite) Eggplant Garlic Sauce Chinese Choves

I live 40 minutes away from this place and go there anytime I possibly can. I bring my friends every time they come to Rochester area it is the best Chinese restaurant.

We did take out and everything we ordered was hot and delicious. It was also ready right as promised. I would 100% go here again either to eat in our take out. My favorite is the walnut Shrimp but we also got the lo mein, beef with broccoli and general tso chicken. All excellent with good sized portions.

Found this shop by chance and very happy that we tried it. Excellent cooking at very reasonable price. Very yummy Chinese food in a nice, bright and clean setting. This is a great addition to Asian food choices in Rochester area👍 Definitely will return as a must-go destination. Will order to-go too to share with others at home 🤩

We went for Father’s Day. We were the only people sitting in the restaurant but the service was great. They were very attentive and engaged our 5 year old. We ordered the shrimp dumpling with hot chili oil and should have gotten two. We also got the scallion pancakes, Singapore mei fun and chicken and broccoli. Everything was huge portions and came our super hot and fast. The chicken and broccoli did not come with white rice. They also gave us room temperature water which I enjoyed (I don’t like cold water). We will def be back! I can’t wait to try more things and get the dumplings again.

The food here is awesome. Every dish I have order exceeds my expectations. Definitely worth the 100 miles (each way) to come here and enjoy myself. They even serve delicious quality white rice with the dishes order which makes it all the merrier. The restaurant is pretty busy at most meal times, so be patient and wait to be served. You will be rewarded.

When you walk in to an Asian restaurant and all of the customers are Asian, you know you are getting the real deal. If you like Americanized Chinese food, this will not be your cup of Oolong tea. But if you are looking for authentic Asian experience (the kind where you are not sure if what's in your mouth is some sort of vegetable or maybe fish...?), this is the place. The food was amazing (only disappointment was the eggplant in garlic sauce-- sauce was bland and no heat at all) and while the service was friendly and prompt, there were no return visits to check on us or fill water (which was desperately needed).

Hidden Gem in Henrietta - Authentic, Flavor-Packed Chinese Food If you're looking for truly authentic Chinese food in Henrietta, this mom-and-pop spot is a must-visit. Easily my favorite Asian spot in Rochester ! The owner is the sweetest and really takes the time to connect with her customers, which makes the whole experience feel so warm and genuine. The food always hits, and it's a great place for bigger groups too. I highly recommend!

I wouldn't call it super authentic compared to the restaurants you'll find in bigger cities but it was a step above the average Chinese-American spot. It was super busy on a Saturday night, it was a bit hard to find parking since it's tucked away in the side of the building. Service was typical but nothing special. We basically had to come to the counter to be sat, get checks, boxes, etc The food: We got cumin lamb, sesame chicken, and hot and sour soup. The cumin lamb was a bit different than what I was expecting compared to what I had at other restaurants, but the peppers were a nice touch. The sesame chicken was great but the hot and sour soup was a little watery. Overall it's worth checking out but not somewhere I'd visit often.

A Rochester gem. Relatively cheap for the large portion sizes. Fantastic service even if you don't speak Chinese!! Free rice refills, water, and the aunties there love to know what you're up to. If you're missing home cooked Chinese food this is the spot. The cold chicken appetizer and minced meat garlic eggplant are amazing!

I can't speak to the ambiance or atmosphere of the place since I got takeout, but the food is so good!! I got the Seafood Tofu Hot Pot. The chunks of fish were perfectly cooked and the tofu was so juicy and tender. The shrimp were huge. They didn't skimp on portions at all. Also, the order was (thoughtfully) wrapped in a plastic bag so the juices didn't explode everywhere, which was much appreciated. The order came with a side of rice also.

I visited this place one time around a year ago and then tonight as well and prices were relatively the same which was nice The service is very fast and they are very helpful and they check up on you pretty quickly. The food taste good and the menu has a lot of options.

Menu was very traditional I believe-- and we really enjoyed what we ordered! I saw other reviews prior to going, so I was a little concerned about the service-- but the real answer is that there was one woman taking care of the dining room as well as the phone-- she was working her butt off and I don't really care that she had the phone on her shoulder when she came to the table! The food was brought out quickly and correctly, we didn't want for anything, and had a great dinner-- including some dishes that my kids ordered that were a little too "traditional" for me!! We saw A LOT of takeout go out the door while we were there.

We had a great experience at this restaurant! Partly because the food and service were both great and also because there was a large birthday party happening and they wrapped us into their fold, feeding us amazing deserts.

Hard to find, not fancy, and perhaps ready for some upgrades, the star of this place is the food. Dishes are authentic, imaginative, and varied, with an almost overwhelming selection. The owner is on the premises, and service is fast, efficient, and friendly. Dishes are beautifully prepared and presented. There is a limited selection of wine and beer. But, go for the food. Best authentic Chinese cuisine in the city.

Excell food. Had beef roll, Crispy Pork chops, w Taiwan style pork belly over rice and Curry beef brisk hot pot. All was excellent, the brisk was very tender. Service is a little slow as it appears to be family run and, the place was packed on a Monday and only cashier takes orders while a second person serves. But it was more than worth the wait.

A couple of years have passed since we last visited this fine place. At this point, I thinking I will not let more than a month pass! It is fantastic. Space is clean and very comfortable. The menu has an amazing variety of wonderful options! In fact the menu felt overwhelming- and the amazing staff person asked a few questions and made some suggestions- that ended up giving the perfect dishes for each of us. I want to call out the Salt and Pepper Squid appetizer! I have had this in many establishments in many locations around the country- NONE come close to bringing as good as the dish we were served!

Been looking for a good duck dish for lunch. I was in Henrietta, googled that and this place showed up. 4 stars so I'm thinking ok great. Well the only duck they do is Peking for 60 bucks, that's a no for lunch.. I ordered hot and sour soup, crispy salt and pepper squid, and a. Specially lamb lunch dish( I used to raise sheep, lamp is one of my favorite proteins) the soup had nothing but tofu , no scallion, no veg , just a corn starch slurry and nothing. The squid was big chunks of over battered tasteless pile, no kind of dipping sauce. The lamb, if that's what it was , could have been beef, pork?? Was oily with no flavor. So yeah sorry it's a no for me. The staff was very charming but it's a solid no!

Tsing Tao is a staple in the Rochester community for family-style authentic Chinese cooking. I've been coming here for years as a college student. I love how affordable it is and the cooking that tastes like home. The portions are very generous, and meant to be shared. I often have enough left over for another meal! The owner is very kind and service is quick. This restaurant is one of my favorites in Rochester and I frequently ate here since I enjoyed it so much! Definitely one of the most authentic Chinese restaurants in the area.

The service is bad, we went and waited for 30 minutes waiting for them to clean the table and they didn't even came to give us menus.

I've had Tsingtao in my bookmarks for approximately 5 years! We finally made a plan to go dine in over the long weekend and I am SO GLAD we did. We had a really enjoyable experience and look forward to trying everything on the menu. I had a million questions prior to arriving when noticing that the Yelp reviews were alllllll over the place. Menu: classic, delicious Szechuan dishes and Americanized additions to accomodate all palates. HUGE menu with tons of options made it hard to decide - beef, pork, veggie, chicken, seafood, and noodle dishes galore. We went with the Singapore Mei Fun, Beef broccoli, fried dumplings, and scallion pancakes. Everything was perfect. The mei fun had shrimp, egg, chicken, and a LIGHTLY spicy sauce. Would order that again any day. Beef broccoli is super fresh and tender, served in tasty strips, not the usual tough hunks you get elsewhere. Tea is served upon arrival and we were SO excited to round out the meal with fresh tasty watermelon before paying our check. All of our food cost $45 with tip, an absolute steal considering we had lunch for two more days. Serve staff here is incredible and provided all of the details we needed to have an awesome experience. No alcohol on the menu, and I did see a party BYOB, though I would call and double check and ask. I can't wait to make this a regular in my rotation! Tsingtao is still a must-stop even if ownership and menu has changed. Big note: the delicious looking Bao that's their cover image is no more. :( Happy dining!

Might go to for Chinese takeout in the city of Rochester. Definitely a lot better than other places in town. Wide menu with great flavor.

Went there on Thanksgiving night. Food is served very quickly, or maybe too quickly. Because we can see the oil is still dripping on deep fried food. I am Chinese and the food quality is just so so. There is a line of people waiting and we are "gently" asked to leave before we finished eating.

Oh em gee!! I normally don't eat at too many Chinese restaurants because I'm very picky and prefer authentic dishes, not the fast food takeout. Tsingtao house is exactly what I've been looking for! The flavors were so pleasing to my taste buds and the visual colors excited my eyes. I went for sit down dinner on Lunar New Year (Covid style), so they were VERY backed up. Completely understandable and the hostess did warn me upfront that it would be quite a wait. I didn't mind, because I really wanted to try the food in the spirit of the holiday and celebration. Soups came out first and my goodness the shrimp wonton soup was SO good! Very big bowl portions. One order was enough to share with at least three people! Entrees were equally flavorful and delicious. I'll be bringing my mother in to try this place since she's always on the lookout for authentic places like me.

The food here is more authentic than most other Chinese restaurants in Rochester. There are some American Chinese dishes as well. The food is well and quickly prepared. There is beer and soda for drinks. The service is quick and excellent, and prices are reasonable. The lunch menu includes several of the main menu items for reduced price and portion, that portion being more than enough, and well worth the ten dollars it cost. As far as ambiance, this a small, but adequately sized space that is clean and neat.

The food is amazing. Very authentic Chinese food. My wife had the chicken feet. And Hunan pork. I had the Hunan chicken. My son had beef and noodles. And the scallion pancakes. I price was reasonable. They have weekly $100 lunch specials. This place was recommended by a local.We looked at it from the outside and would not have normally come in. It is attached to a pawn shop. But inside it looks like a Chinese restaurant. The size of the portions are amazing and the service is great. We will come back

I'm still here, having just finished my meal of Tofu Hopot and chilied cucumbers. I shared some of the wife's MA po tofu extra spicey. They added a scotch bonnet pepper which gave a nice fruity hot flavor. Wow. The flavors were wonderful. Too bad I've moved to Pittsburgh and I come to Rochester to visit. As Arnie says: I'll be back.

So happy they do delivery now on Yelp via Grubhub. I have always loved this restaurant but had to try out their lunch specials. I like variety in my Chinese food dishes so I went with the sour mustard pork intestines, sautéed fish with vegetables and the beef chow fun noodles. Can't beat the price for $9.84 each and each of the specials comes with a side of white rice and hot and sour soup. What was even nice of them was the restaurant even called me after the delivery had gotten here to let me know they had forgotten the white rice with my orders since they were so busy so one of their restaurant staff personally dropped it off herself and was very apologetic. All-star service and thank-you Tsingtao house. My stomach is full and satisfied and the dishes were perfect, exactly what I needed to satisfy my Chinese food cravings. Also plenty left over for leftovers!

Stopped by for a late lunch. Menu was interesting and tasty. I particularly liked that the food came to the table as it was cooked, resulting in a hot, fresh to the table meal. While everything was very good, the scallion pancake was amazing and the sweet & sour fish was a particularly nice treat!

the portion sizes are so big and the food came super fast and it was super yummy. they even helped me to use the chopsticks so that service was great

First off the good is very good. The service is terrible! Waitress talking on phone taking a take out order at the same time as taking our table order. Couldn't get any tea, asked three times and gave up. Took forever to pay. It was unacceptable. Hire some staff.

3.5 STARS BUT WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO GIVE HALF STAR. Had the pleasure of coming here a few months back and just got around to leaving a review. The restaurant is very east to miss if you weren't looking for it. When you go in, the dining room is on the smaller side and almost looking like a small cafeteria. The place could definitely use a good cleaning and dusting. The good news is, the food is great! I went here with my boyfriend and we ended up getting the whole steamed Halibut and two bowls of beef noodle soup. The food took a while to come out, but the restaurant was packed so it was understandable. The Halibut was the highlight of the meal. Delicious and fragrant; It was full of flavor. The spicy noodle soups were tasty and came in a large bowl so the portions were good. The prices were a bit expensive for select dishes, and I didn't feel like the service was that great. This place looks like a local favorite for traditional Cantonese food and a lot of the customers seemed to be regulars. It's always a good sign when the people coming in to eat speak in the same language as the people serving the food. All in all, the food was delicious and had large portions. The service was mediocre and slow. However I enjoyed the food so much that I didn't honestly care too much about the wait time in the end.

Amazing! Our go to Chinese spot after going here recently. Friendly and pleasant staff. We had a scallion pancake and pork buns for an appetizer. Both great but the pork buns really stood out for me. Nice blend of fat and lean meat with a delicious herby sauce. We decided on the cashew chicken and "spice bean chicken" for our entrees. Both delicious and came with white rice.

Family that runs this place is amazing and they will take care of you. Food is 1000% amazing. It tastes so good! And it's all fresh. The ambiance is incredible too. It's legit and has amazing flavor!

What a gem! A pretty small and unassuming place from the outside, I am really glad I gave this place a try. Tried the special sour mustard boil fish, a seafood combination hotpot, and a beef noodle stew. The fish was delicious! Spicy, tender pieces of fish with mustard greens that soak up all the flavor of the goodness. I also really liked the beef stew; it was not what I expected look-wise (not the most beautiful presentation, but that's not what I'm there for) but it was delicious! The seafood clay pot was as expected, not a standout from most places but I do really like the mushroom slices they had in there. I will definitely be back to try out the other dishes!

Pretty good standard Chinese food plus a number of authentic dishes not likely to appeal to the unadventurous (organ meats). Be aware that sma few years ago it changed ownership and menu - it used to feature hand-pulled noodles, no more, alas.

Tried this place off a recommendation from Reddit. Probably the best chicken with garlic sauce I've ever had. Not overly sweet and just the right amount of heat. This place is quickly becoming my go to.

This restaurant is one of few authentic Chinese restaurants that serve authentic food! I always love going there when I have a gathering. I recommend you to have a gathering because they have a menu that we can order and share all dishes together. These dishes are good for sharing with people, not like you can order one for yourself. These food are more of side dishes than entree dishes. There are very few dishes that are entrees. We still would order and share with others. I would recommend anyone to try authentic Chinese food then go this restaurant. I have to warn that the spiciness are really hot and if you can handle then it is great!!! :) most dishes have spiciness in it which I like the most. I only want to give a head up about the spicy part. Food is absolutely delicious and makes me miss NYC's authentic Chinese food.

Saw it one day driving past and decided to try it with friends- so so pleased- place was bright, clean, and quiet, with kind service. Portions were VERY generous, and prices were great. Everything came out very quickly and was REALLY delicious. Honestly only issue was we ordered too much! Dishes we had: scallion pancake and crab rangoon, dry scallops tomato soup, general tsos chicken, spring rolls, shrimp chinese sausage fried rice, plus a couple others. Definitely going back, this is probably a new favorite spot.

The fact that this place is kinda hole in the wall-ish, tucked in some alley between the tai chi tea place and some other store fronts is already a bonus for me, oh and then you see a lot of Chinese people as soon as you walk in and hear mostly Chinese language, makes me feel like this place is promising in authenticity and flavor. I would say, overall, i was pleasantly surprised as I expected too bland food or too immature sauces/brewing. We ordered the dumplings, chicken and potato casserole, and eggplant. The good thing is, everything was pretty authentic- a little more oily and saucy than what is considered truly authentic, but I'll take it. I'm a little far from Philadelphia's Dim Sum Garden and NYC's Flushing China town, so I really got little options and this was pretty good! Eggplant: Any eggplant dish is always gonna be oily if you're gonna eat out. So watch out. Eat this dish with lots of rice, that or squeeze out your sauce/oil with your spoon against the plate. This dish was correctly flavored and not too thin in complexity- that is, the chef did not skimp on an ingredient- a very mature and good sauce, albeit being a little oily. Now, if only this eggplant had been cooked with salt ahead of time before the sauce was cooked over it, the inside of the eggpalnt was soft but not as well salted inside so the salt stayed on the outside of the eggplant in the sauce. Otherwise a pretty good dish. 13.99$ Chicken and Potato Casserole- Ok, so a Chinese casserole is not a baked dish with pasta and cheese and ground meat in it... it's usually a nicely stewed very nicely layered dish. This is usually meat that has been stewing and brewing for hours to get a super tender and well marinated dish. This chicken was tender like a fish- we were surprised it was chicken! My only thing about this dish is... the potatoes were probably cooked separately and then dumped int this dish with the chicken which is a pity b/c the potatoes were too hard and undercooked and not as flavorful. 15.99$ Dumplings- definitey not your taken out of the freezer made by a machine kind of get up. This was one of those hand rolled flour with some Chinese auntie skilfully doling out a perfect spoon of well marinated, mixed pork veggie into the center of the wrapper and then quickly deftly pinching it shut. It was fried on top of a corn starch and water combination to achieve a crispy bottom. Well done. Reminds me of Flushing, NY in those skilled hard to find dumpling makers we dont see anymore in modern restaurants. 8.99$ for fried 10 pieces, 12 pieces steamed. I'll definitely be back more. Price is reasonable and flavors were authentic and mature enough.

First time at Tsingtao House with 5 adults on a Friday. Sept 1, 2023 around 6:30pm. The place was very busy. A line awaits to be seated as wells as a line ordering carry-out. Place was full of Asian customers, which is always a great sign for a good Chinese restaurant. We used Yelp to help us find this place. We got lucky and were seated shortly after we arrived. The service was not great because they were so busy but they tried their best to answer our questions about the menu. We ordered Spicy Crispy Beef, Pork Chop Hong Kong Style, Ma Pa Tofu, House LoMein, & Chicken Broccoli-all so so yummy! Don't let the exterior fool you. This place is a hidden gem. Parking is challenging. Regardless, I will definitely come back the next time I am in Rochester.

I had high hopes for this restaurant after reading through some reviews, but I was left a bit disappointed after spending $30 on a meal. I ordered the pork bun, scallion pancakes, and sesame beef. The pork was covered in a spicy sauce that made it inedible to me because of my low tolerance to any spice. The sesame beef didn't seem to contain high-quality meat. I bit through all the pieces and they all tasted like beef fat with a batter coating and covered up in sauce. The only good thing about this meal were the scallion pancakes, which paired nice when dipped in soy sauce and had a nice crunch. Unfortunately, it's unlikely that I'll return after this experience.

Tonight our favorite was Pork Mei Fung. Delicately flavored. Lovely. We also had Hunan Chicken (hot), Hot & Sour Soup & egg rolls for starters. Everything was hot and fresh as always.

Tried it for the first time and loved it. So delicious! Long hot pepper with beef and tendon was amazing. However, it had no tendon in it. It had tripe. It was still amazing however. Chicken cashew was awesome too. Melts in your mouth. Best food of any kind I've had in a long time. Amazing authentic Chinese.
