The gorgeous façade and impressive lobby speak of a different time, soaring walls of glass and stone interior with chrome accents invoke luxury and calm.
We spent 5 nights at this property and were pleased with the service and room in general. The bed and linens were comfortable and made for sleep & pleasant dreams.
The location is great for walking to entertainment and dining as well as a short Uber ride to the storied Cementerio de la Ciudad de Mendoza. Less than 10 minutes away are three Michelin starred restaurants, we chose a superb 9 course meal at Azafran (highly recommended).
The onsite casino is easily ignored unless you choose that back corner entrance to the hotel, then simply stare ahead and ignore the ruckus slot machine soundtrack (which does not bleed into the lobby or the front desk).
The lobby and breezeways host a rotating display of art and sculptures, one standout piece is a sculpture honoring the author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (best known for The Little Prince), celebrating his historic stay at the hotel in 1930.
We had time to spend a couple of hours in the spa and get massages, we were hoping to hot tub together before then, but the sauna and tubs are sequestered away in the locker rooms. Unfortunately, the hot tubs are individual tubs that you fill to use, filling times are long and I settled for a quick steam sauna. The entire massage experience was well done from the quiet waiting area to the cup of tea afterwards.
Our room included breakfast at the lobby restaurant where they take their breakfast buffet VERY seriously, all of the European and local dishes were there, my wife has a gluten allergy and was delighted that they had a toaster set aside for gluten free breads and pastries. My favorite was their honey display that held a full bee hive frame and collected the freshest honey ever at the bottom for your toast! The pool bar was a handy spot to stop in and have a quick Gin & Tonic, staffed as always be friendly and attentive staff.
One quick note; we had six bottles of Mendoza wine to ship home, the hotel took that on and we paid the fee directly to the shipper. The wine arrived a week after we got home in great shape and no extra tarrif or duties.
My only negative observation is that the hotel has some deferred maintenance, a room refresh, a coat of interior paint would do wonders. And please, replace the failed window panels.
