⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ FIVE STARS — Fire Box BBQ, Marshall St., St. Paul
After catching a free pipe band concert at Macalester College—complete with Highland dancers and absolutely fantastic energy—we were heading home and happened to drive past a little corner spot called Fire Box BBQ. I love barbecue, so I thought, “Why not stop and try it?” I’m so glad we did.
The food was incredible.
The brisket was tender, juicy, perfectly smoked, and packed with flavor—truly some of the best I’ve had in Minnesota. The collard greens surprised me in the best way. I’m usually hesitant to order them because so many places don’t cook them right, but these were meat-free, thoroughly cooked, beautifully seasoned, and absolutely delicious.
The sweet potatoes were another standout—real sweet potatoes cut into cubes, not mushy, not canned, and seasoned perfectly with that sweet-and-savory balance. The fries were crispy, well-seasoned, and very tasty, though I don’t believe they were hand-cut.
My only critique: the cornbread was a bit dry for my taste. It’s probably the only item I wouldn’t order again.
Everything else? Phenomenal. I will definitely be back, and honestly I might have to start buying their brisket in bulk. That’s how good it was.
Highly recommend this spot to any BBQ lover. Five stars, hands down.
