Visiting from Los Angeles was near by at a family event and I hadn’t eaten all day decided to give this place a try because reviews seemed decent and it was really close. I don’t understand how anyone would review this place positively and I rarely give bad reviews as I try to make excuses. This place is really bad. I was going to pick up food for myself and my brother but as soon as I walked in I could just tell this place will be rough. So instead of ordering I decided to try out the shawarma fries as it’s such a simple dish , they totally failed. The beef/lamb is old and dry, the chicken is dry and tasted like old rotisserie chicken. The restaurant itself is dirty and you can see they don’t keep up with it at all. The service is not bad but not good just. Not friendly not rude. Nothing good to say about the service and nothing really bad. Food wise, I don’t think anyone will enjoy this place. Just overall a bad experience and a bad place. I honestly think these positive reviews are either bought for and are fake, nothing else makes sense. Had to just eat the fries, which aren’t anything special, as the meat is inedible.

I was very impressed with the food. We ordered several items and all were so delicious. The chicken was moist not dried out like other places. The staff was friendly and nice. The dining area was just ok and we decided to do take out since the music was a bit loud.

Google
First time here and the food was delicious! Having been to the Middle East myself, I’d highly recommend! Plus they have tres leches cake and it was also incredible.

Just wanna start off by giving my brothers kudos for this one!! This was the ultimate choice for today's meal! The handsome man behind the counter OmG such a sweetheart. The way he explained the way my food was made yummers. The taste of this Double Trouble Shawarma hands down Delicious Definitely coming back!!

Google
The food here was a total letdown. I got the Hangover Burger and the bun to meat ratio was just bad. Way too much bread. Menu said it came with criss cut fries, which is why I even ordered it, but I got regular fries instead. Burger had no flavor at all, and they don’t even have ranch. Our whole group of 12 was disappointed with what they got. It also took almost 30 minutes to get my food. Not coming back.

Google
The food here is delicious! After the first time I went here I was hooked and now I go pretty often. I order the Mr Shawarma salad with rice. Everything is soooo flavorful and the plate looks beautiful! I also tried the baklava and they were very tasty. The cashier is so nice too and service is quick!

Google
So good. I love Middle Eastern food. Mr Shawarma is the real deal. I got the land and beef wrap. It is huge delicious portion. My girlfriend got the build your own bowl with chicken and rice. It's just as good as my shawarma. Hind helped us out. She is really sweet.

Google
I ate here on Friday and it was amazing. I had the chicken shawarma skewers with pita and a shrimp taco. The chicken was moist, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The presentation was beautiful too, which made it even better. The shrimp taco had a little kick and just the right amount of crunch. There is only one person working, so if you have even a little bit of common sense, you’ll understand it might take some time. But trust me, it’s worth it. I saw someone complaining that their group of nine had to wait over 30 minutes for food. You’re a group of nine talk to each other, scroll on your phone, enjoy the moment. It’s not that hard. Some of these entitled folks really act like they’ve never had to wait for anything in their life. Sometimes I wonder if some people writing reviews could even pass the 4th grade. This is real food made with care. Be patient. It’s delicious and absolutely worth the wait.

Yelp
Walked in, kitchen was so clean, and you could tell the owner loved what he did. The food reflected that! Loved my lamb and beef shawarma. Will definitely be coming back again!

Yelp
Wow. The rice alone was worth the trip. Our group had lamb, beef, chicken and falafel, in a bowl, a plate, and wraps. It was all delicious. The meat was tender and everything was so flavorful. The restaurant itself was staffed by friendly guys who clearly know what they are doing. We enjoyed the music and the quirky mural in the dining area. Definitely a gem in El Cajon!

Yelp
Let's begin with the menu. Looks like a nice mix of available food. I got the double trouble which turned out to be pretty good. My wife got beef skewers (not kabob) actual chunks of beef which had great flavor but was tough and chewy. Double trouble had great flavor too but I think next time I'll try the chipotle or cilantro sauce version. Fries could use a little more "seasoning" since they are touted as seasoned fries. I tried to order but was directed to a kiosk to place my order, I did so to help them out. As we sat waiting for my order 3 customers approached and ordered at the counter and not at the kiosk so I felt that was bs. Keep it standard for everybody if you're going to tell me to use the kiosk tell everyone that walks in the door. Also, machines were out of receipt paper and I had to get a digital receipt sent to my phone. I would prefer a real receipt. I get a bunch of spam texts and hate giving my number out anymore. Loud middle eastern bangers are playing in the hot restaurant with an industrial fan spreading the El Cajon heat amongst the place while blowing our utensils and napkins everywhere. A small mini-split unit AC on the wall is broken or owner is being cheap and not turning it on. We could not find a clean table, nothing had been wiped down, drippings from other peoples meals, small chunks of meat on the tables and floor. I had to wipe a table down myself. I did not see an employee come out to wipe tables down between customers the entire time there. Then the restroom, had to wash my hands after my meal. I don't know the last time the unisex restroom was cleaned during the day but it sure needed it. At least there was soap and paper for drying your hands so that's a plus. Overall not giving this place anywhere near five stars. Was not greeted with a smile or anything friendly, the lady working was much nicer than the young cook. Cleanliness is big for me, someone coming out and wiping down a table with a clean cloth speaks volumes to me. Food was good but not spectacular.

Yelp
I ate here on the 4th of July and it was amazing. I had the chicken shawarma skewers with pita and a shrimp taco. The chicken was moist, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The presentation was beautiful too, which made it even better. The shrimp taco had a little kick and just the right amount of crunch. There is only one person working, so if you have even a little bit of common sense, you'll understand it might take some time. But trust me, it's worth it. Be patient, talk to your friends, scroll your phone, enjoy the moment. The food is made with care and full of flavor. This is real food, not fast food. It's delicious and absolutely worth the wait.

Yelp
Was staying at my Brother in laws house in El Cajon and needed something to eat. Hadn't had any shawarma in awhile, so I decided to come down here. I went with the "Double Trouble" wrap which had chicken and beef in it. $17 or so after a small tip. How was it? Double Trouble Wrap- Eh...it was just ok. Like a burrito, but I liked it a lot less. Nothing necessarily wrong with it, just wish I had gone and got a burrito somewhere. Meat, sauces, and pickles were all just ok. Service was pretty quick and friendly. Might be back, but doubtful.

Yelp
Good parking and a hard-working lady behind the counter, she's the cook, manager, and Cleaner. She makes Tacos and Falafel. Never seen that B 4., LOL The Falafel was just okay, I expected better for $11.00 for a Falafel Sandwich. The worst part, the bread, paper thin, like tissue paper, literally rips apart simply by touching it, impossible actually to hold the sandwich itself. I've never seen a Mexican restaurant and a Middle Eastern restaurant at the same counter, Shawarma and a taco. Like KFC meets Taco Bell. When you do many things at once, it often means nothing is special.

Yelp
A little mom and pop type shop with a very authentic feeling to it. We were the only ones in there and there was only one person working at the time. The shawarma was good, not great, but that might just be because I am not used to this type of authentic cuisine. My friend and I split a meal of chicken shawarma and fries because it looked big and let me tell you it was. We were not able to finish the entire mountain of fries that is pictured because it was a lot of food, but they were pretty good. The vibes were a bit odd since my friend went to ask for a water cup and the person working just had her reach around the counter to get it and the bathrooms weren't very clean. Overall food was okay, but portions, and vibes were interesting.

Yelp
Stopped by for a lil late night diner for me and my husband. And let me tell you the food was amazing. I loved their double trouble combo was the best! And so as their lime cilantro wrap!!!It's my first time having MR.Sharwama and it's most definitely not my last. We're coming back for sure and next time time to try there burgers as well. They were busy so I'm glad I placed the order over the phone. The staff was super nice the restaurant is clean so it's good for dining.

Yelp
This was my first time going here and I have to say that the service was exceptional. My son ordered the bowl and I ordered the beef lamb skewer and they were both amazing. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Ginger P.

Yelp
The food here was okay. I liked my husband's chipotle shawarma wrap more than I liked my beef kabob plate. That wrap was pretty good, and the chipotle sauce complemented it nicely. The rice and salad on my plate were pretty good, but I didn't care for the flavor of the hummus and the beef kabob itself very much. The service was awkward to say the least. The young employee sat looking at his phone for a while even when we were standing right in front waiting to order. He then was really pushy with my husband about writing a review. They were also playing rap music prominently featuring the n-word when none of the staff are Black which I find to be kind of awkward. They had the doors wide open letting cold air into the restaurant on a super cold evening, which I feel is inconsiderate for those dining in. Overall, they missed the mark on this visit. That being said, my husband liked the food enough at this spot to want to revisit in the future, so maybe next time will be better.

Yelp
Good food, nice people. Prices are Ok for the portion sizes. Seating area/tables could be a little cleaner though.

Yelp
So delicious! After the first time I went here I was hooked and now I go pretty often. I order the Mr Shawarma salad with half rice. Everything is soooo flavorful and the plate looks so beautiful. The salad, the chicken, the rice, the garlic sauce; it all goes so well together! The cashier is so nice too and even remembered my order. I have yet to try anything else on the menu but I definitely will.
google avatar

Yelp
Falafel patties are the most crispy crunchy, love them so bad! Mr. Shawarma fries 8/10 because fries are really soft here & same with the Beef shawarma. I got the original wrap on that, love that they put it on heat so it's a little crispy. Beef is flavorful, had pickle inside as well Great portions!!! don't mind pictures, we dug in...
google avatar

Lamees A.

Yelp
The shawarma was disappointing. The chicken lacked spices and was very dry. Overall, not a good experience.

Joshua K.

Yelp
The food was good as always, and the service done by Mohammad and his staff was outstanding!

Yelp
Great servicr, great food. Ordered the chicken shawarma and beef shawarma. Generous portion size.

Yelp
WOW!!!!!!! OUTSTANDING! I just got this on a whim tonight through Uber Eats! I literally texted at least 6 of my friends immediately to rave about how DELICIOUS this was! I will be making this place a regular in my menu rotation. They give you so much food I was only able to eat half. I think I'll ask for my sauces on the side! The spicy was, chefs kiss! Sooo very impressed! Thank you!!

Yelp
First time here. I ordered a shawarma plate with beef and lamb sandwich. The food tasted great. The friendly staff even gave us a complimentary baklava, which was not too sweet.

Michelle S.

Yelp
The double trouble was killlerrrr. Will for sure be back for that. The young man was working the cashier and cooking. He had a great attitude, was working fast and making great food. Respect to him! Not the best ambience... basic fast casual vibe, but the food is well worth a visit.

Yelp
El Cajon location. I've eaten at a ton of Shawarma joints and this one is falls somewhere in the middle of the pack. The food truck has a strong following so I'm assuming some of the scores are carryover. I thought it was pretty basic. There was plenty of room for seating but most of the area inside was empty. Service was fast and friendly. I had the Mr Shawarma plate with beef over rice. It was just under $20. It was filling but nothing special. If you're craving shawarma and already driving by, it wouldn't hurt to try it but I don't think I'll be back.

Yelp
Mr. Shawarma and his crew 6 some tasty food. I stopped in for an early dinner before the rush. I had a Middle Eastern Pita stuffed with beef shawarma, pickles, tomatoes, onions, parsley, sumac, and tahini sauce with side, and I choose seasoned waffle fries. The beef shawarma was tender and tasty, and the pita came stuffed with a good amount. I like the tahini sauce it was flavorful and not overly done. The onions and pickles worked very well in this pita sandwich. I would have liked it better if they would warm up the pits bread. It was cold and gave a dry texture as a result. They should warm it up in the hot griddle they use. The waffle fries were great. They were crispy and well seasoned. They were great eating with they Jajeek sauce with yogurt, cucumber, and mint. The service was very nice. They young lady at the counter was very sweet. I look forward to returning.

Yelp
Food was delicious they have a Turkish baked potato with toppings and beef and chicken it was sooo good! Also had the kebab plate the meat was soo tender and juicy! Don't skip on the baklava!!

Yelp
The staff is friendly and welcoming every time I come in, and the service is quick. Mr. Shawarma has definitely become my go-to spot for Mediterranean food. Highly recommend!

Adriana R.

Yelp
Went there at 11:30 on a Tuesday. Closed. Website says they open 11 and the front of the store says 10:30. Either way should have been open. Annoying driving over and it's closed. No sign or explanation.
google avatar

Yelp
I had to try it as my cousins tried it and they said it was good So we came around 2 PM Only few people was trying to order Had only two workers. One was new so slightly overwhelmed It took around 20-30 minutes to be ready Beef Shawrma was good but slightly salty The chicken Shawrma was bland Overall about 8/10 By the time we left more woekers came to help out Certainly decent food but not the best shawrma I tried in the area
google avatar

Ryll S.

Yelp
Delicious Shawarma and Great Service! The shawarma was so tasty--juicy meat, fresh veggies, and yummy garlic sauce. Everything was cooked just right and full of flavor. The employee was very kind and helpful, which made the visit even better. I'll definitely come back again. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Samantha G.

Yelp
The Buffalo wings were really good. They tasted smoky and had a little kick to them but not too spicy. I wasn't a fan of the eggplant salad. It tasted fermented and tasted okay. It took awhile for me to get my food I think because of a lot of DoorDash orders. It's located in a little shopping plaza. Parking is a little tough but plenty of seating inside.
google avatar

Marisa A.

Yelp
I delivered an instacart order to this store and had the pleasure of trying their delicious chicken shawarma. It's my first time trying this and I would definitely return to try this again. Also even though the restaurant was super busy I was still provided excellent service.

Yelp
Ordered online at 642. It said the order was ready at 704. I arrived at 706 to pickup the order. It wasn't ready, and they said they didn't receive the order, even though my card was already charged for it. I showed them the order confirmation and they said they'd start making it "right away." Over the next 45 minutes, I watched as numerous customers came in, ordered, and received their food. I definitely felt like I was put dead last in queue. I attempted to check back in numerous times and was mostly ignored. When I finally received my order, it was wrong. They completely missed a main item (burger and fries). I brought up the issue, and he said "We can make it, but it's going to be a few minutes." After waiting 45 minutes for two items, I didn't feel like waiting anymore and left. $50 for two shwarmas and some fries, plus a 45 minute in store wait after ordering online. Unbelievably disappointing experience.
google avatar

Karly R.

Yelp
My sister and I stopped in to try Mr Shawarma because we haven't had this kind of food before. The staff were very friendly and helpful when we ordered. We ended up getting a Chipotle chicken shawarma with fries and a Lemon cilantro beef shawarma with salad to share. While we were waiting for our food they brought us some hummus to snack on which was yummy. The shawarma plates were both really good! Super fresh and flavorful. I will definitely be back

Jacki B.

Yelp
If you haven't been to Mr. Shawarma yet, you're seriously missing out. This place is a gem The food is seriously delicious. I always get the beef and lamb shawarma wrap. It's mouthwateringly good every single time. Perfectly seasoned, super tender, and packed with flavor. The chicken is always juicy and full of flavor too. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu here. Service is fast and the staff is friendly. Whether you're grabbing something quick or sitting down for a meal, Mr. Shawarma hits the mark. Absolutely recommend this spot. It never disappoints.

Yelp
Very well lit--great place for late night eats and time with friends and/or family. Great music and people enjoy working here! My hubby ordered the lamb and beef shawarma with fries and I got the lemon cilantro beef shawarma with fries. They serve Stubborn soda and their water is lemon-infused. They have a vast menu and delicious fare. Check it out.
google avatar

Kay L.

Yelp
I'm very torn about this spot. The chicken shawarma is bomb, employees are nice, and being able to order ahead is a major convenience, BUT they are sooo inconsistent. The first time I came here was perfection- order was ready on time, everything was fresh, and everything was prepared as ordered. But every other time after that there was always something wrong with my order. For example, I ordered ahead and still had to wait 30 extra minutes for my food, they gave me Nutella crepes instead of Nutella baklava, I received dry, bland beef shawarma, and was given 2 soggy pieces of Nutella baklava ($6.99 btw) when their website says you get 3. As a customer, I'm able to forgive mistakes bc i understand that restaurant/food industry is hard work. But it's hard for me to look past there being a problem every time I order from here. Perhaps they don't have a system down yet, but the issues are easy to catch if there was attention to detail. That being said, I will continue to support this business because I have yet to find another place that makes a delicious chicken shawarma but I'll be coming here less frequently.
google avatar

Kiran B.

Yelp
Great food and amazing ambiance. Nice and clean when we walked in and service was both great and quick.

Samir E.

Yelp
We tried the beef shawerma sandwich was not good at all the meet was already precut and didn't taste right even i tried it just when they open was okay but now completely different

Amro A.

Yelp
Delicious shawarma great collection and options authentic with a mixture of Mexican touch
google avatar

Kundara C.

Yelp
First of all the food is delicious and not greasy. The chicken shawarma with fries is my fav- crisp and juicy. The portion sizes could be a little more giving for the price. The service is also what brought the stars up as everyone was warm in both personality and attentiveness. As far as the ambiance, none of the tables available were clean to sit at, but people were in and out of the place non-stop so I could understand some slack. The place received my 5 stars because on top of an excellent flavored chicken shawarma sandwich, and yummy tasting fries, they nailed the white sauce that comes with the shawarma (not overly garlicky like other places).
google avatar

Mahlet A.

Yelp
I came to grab a shawarma. great service the girl at the front. i recommend you come and visit.
google avatar

Shin C.

Yelp
I came here late at night around 10 pm with some friends to grab dinner takeout. Parking was easy as they have a parking lot and there were plenty of spaces. The young lady working the register was friendly and provided great service. She explained to me what the sauces were and let me pick which Baklava to take home. I ended up ordering two hamburgers in addition to the Baklava and they were the bomb! You can taste the fresh ingredients and they were huge! One half was the size of my hand. They do cut the burger in half for you, which I appreciated cuz there was no way I could eat the entire burger in one sitting. I'm not usually a sauce person but the sauces added the extra oomph needed to knock the food out of the park. Get it on the side if you aren't sure. I ordered the Habibi burger and Hangover burger, both delicious even days later. I ended up splitting them into 4 meals, lmao. The price was reasonable too. Totally worth a visit.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is delicious! The owner is a genuine kind and giving man. Hooked us up with great food and some dessert.
google avatar

Beverly C.

Yelp
Very friendly, greeted with a smile. Food is fresh and love the variety. Best part is the Mexican/Mediterranean fusion. Love the bench style seating.
google avatar

Walter C.

Yelp
The food was soooooo good! The hummus was so good & creamy. The lemon cilantro beef was exquisite! Customer service was amazing! Had to tip in cash again after I tipped with the original order on the card. This is because, the server, who is wroking the register, kept coming by asking if everything was good & even offered some spicy sauce, which I didn't know they had. That was sooo god as well!! Will be coming back to try all the plates in the near future!

Martin B.

Yelp
Love their burgers remind me of back home the restaurant is actually clean employees service 10/10
google avatar

Liliana J.

Yelp
I loved the wrap we got it was so delicious! I enjoyed everything we got! Which was the chicken shawarma and fries they were both so good(: the service was good too! It just sucks because they only have one worker for multiple people people so it takes a bit longer to attend everyone other than that the service is good and the seating area is clean and organized too. I like how the place has greenery on the walls (:

Devin H.

Yelp
The food here is nothing less than FANTASTIC. This is the Best Mediterranean food place we tried in SD.

Jeremy V.

Yelp
Walked in to order! Very friendly staff! I loved the atmosphere! The baklava were great! The shawarma was really good! Really hit the spot and they have a lot to choose from! It's worth stopping by! Hind was awesome! If you never had this type of food before give it a try!!!!
