Best Burgers in Colorado Springs (2025)
The Public House at The Alexander

Our first visit was well over a year ago. We remembered the burgers being awesome, and they still are! I ordered the Craft Burger with gorgonzola, cheddar cheese, bacon, garlic mustard on a challah bun. Hubby ordered the French dip. His was delish and everything was warm, although the au just was more like a gravy. My onion rings were cold, and tho I hate to complain or send things back, hubby reported it and our waitress was super gracious and rushed off to order a fresh batch. Hot, they were delicious! My burger was lukewarm but I wasn't about to send it back! It was still very good with plenty of cheese and meaty bacon. Service was interesting. There were long gaps between getting the menu, order taking, beer samples, drink ordering, food arriving. But once served several people asked about how we were doing. It was a very busy night with a couple large groups, the comedy club gearing up, and New Year's frivolity. Ambiance is very loud, though we could still hear each other. It is a large room with a super high, barn- like feeling being a former film studio. Off to one side were a couple of rooms filled with oak barrels. Beautiful!

Stephanie is the very best bartender ever. Even better than Vegas lol! She knows her stuff! We go to the movies a couple times a month and we always come here first because the food and the drinks are amazing and the people are awesome. Can’t recommend enough!!!! Prices are great also. LOVE LOVE LOVE

Google
Great place in the Springs! We had lunch and a couple of drinks - Colorado Cheesesteak and Lamb Burger, both were fantastic - nice selection of beer and a couple ciders - also had the Bloody Mary with pickle infused vodka and I highly recommend if you’re a fan - service is great - professional, friendly, and fast.

Google
Our waitress Hannah was very welcoming and she makes a KILLER old fashioned! I had the Crikey cocktail with carnitas tacos and my husband had the mountain burger with the old-fashioned. We're from Louisiana and this was a great little local find, exactly the kind of vibe we were looking for.

Google
I was here as a photo booth vendor for a private party With Ray Of Hope Cancer Foundation and was absolutely blown away by the staff here! Katy, Hannah, Krista, Lily and Shay provided top notch customer service, teamwork among each other and a very high level of customer satisfaction! The venue is gorgeous, food/drink were amazing and service was fabulous. I work in almost 100 venues a year with my business and this is one of my favorite venues and staff so far! This place is a Gem and I highly refer The Public House at The Alexander for private parties and can't wait to come back for a regular visit and date night!

Google
Some of the best burgers and food in town. Highly recommend this place. Great atmosphere and service. Fried Green tomatoes for appetizers was the best. Update: we visited again tonight. There was a large group in the back and pretty much everyone else out front were ignored until after they left. Our food order was wrong, and the server we had to begin with was awful. We were ignored, but the guy who was our 2nd server was much better. All around not a good experience, and we most likely will not be back. Mostly our food and server were a huge disappointment.

Google
Went here as a group and the general consensus was that everything was good, but not great. We ordered pub chips, garlic knots, and chips and queso for appetizers. (The garlic knots were the best thing we ate all evening.) For food we had the The Big Dill, the Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap, the Pot Roast, The French Dip and one of the burgers. The chicken on The Big Dill and the Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap were decent, but the chicken was kind of tough. The French Dip sandwich was really good, but the dip was not like an au jus broth, it was a lot thicker like a gravy and kind of so-so. Overall, I would still eat here, but it might not be the first place on my list. If you are looking for a casual place to eat attached to both a brewery and distillery then this would be a great pick.

Google
TL;DR: Incredibly slow service across the board—slow food, slow drinks, slow water refills, and slow check. Unfortunately, the food didn’t make up for the wait. We were seated at 6:08 PM and waited 45 minutes just to receive our appetizer (fried green tomatoes). Our main course—two burgers—arrived only 3 minutes after the appetizer, which felt poorly timed. Even more concerning, we watched an older couple who had been seated well before us still waiting for their single burger while we were already eating. Not a great experience overall. I've seen better from a food truck.

Yelp
The service was great, and the food was phenomenal! The vibe is laid back and welcoming, absolutely will return!

Yelp
This place is absolutely amazing. The food will surprise you pleasantly. The server told me they make all their sauces fresh in-house. All of their meat is sourced locally from Colorado. And they source as much as they can from Colorado. We had the chicken Sate and the Big Dill chicken with Brussels. Both were absolutely amazing. Might be the best bar food that we've had in all of Colorado Springs. It is fantastic. Service was great. The beer was awesome. They had 25 IPA beers on the menu. Atmosphere was really nice. Highly recommend it.

Yelp
We're staying at the hotel nearby and thought we'd try doing takeout. We have dogs and wanted to bring them, but the patio doesn't have heaters. My husband ordered the Westsider Burger with only BBQ sauce and onion rings. What he received was very little BBQ sauce and no onion rings. I ordered the French dip with no bacon. The au jus was actually gravy. We both ordered the pub chips. The food was okay. My husband was disappointed that he ended up with a plain hamburger. Neither one of us liked the grilled bun because there was too much butter. We kept having to wipe our mouths and hands because of the grease. My French dip was okay, but the gravy was too salty for me. Considering there are a lot of brew pubs around, we'll try somewhere else and hope for the best.

Yelp
We'd been hearing about the Public House for years, so we went on a weeknight for a bite to eat. Tucked off the main road, this spot feels very local. You'd only really notice the building if you're looking for it. It feels warm and inviting inside, the history of the place is very interesting and I'd recommend googling it during your meal. The food was intentional pub-style food (see menu photos in this review). It was what we expected and we enjoyed it. The staff is friendly and you can tell it's a beloved spot here in Colorado Springs. There seemed to have many groups of regulars. It made for some good people watching. Loved hearing servers call people by name, knowing them as they walked in. Our experience was that service takes a bit. We had to be pretty intentional about asking for drinks and food from the staff. I'd just plan for this as you're thinking through your visit and the timing of everything. Overall, an enjoyable spot with some fun history and interesting ambience! I'd recommend checking it out!

Yelp
I don't think I've ever been disappointed in any of the food I've ever gotten at either location. I always recommend The Public House when asked about the best burgers in town. If you like traditional, thicker, pub-style burgers then this is your place, Prime Kitchen is great as well for this style and is my other pick. The Pot Roast Poutine is absolutely amazing and would make a great appetizer for sharing with everyone before the main dishes. I'll finish up by declaring their Pub Fries the best in town. Brakeman's used to give them a run for their money, but they've quit offering them. They're also the base for the poutine. Oh yeah, their chicken sandwich, The Big Dill, is another big fave.

Yelp
Our second visit to this pub, the first visit well over a year ago. We remembered the burgers being awesome, and they still are! Yelp
Hosted my dad's retirement party here and everyone had the best time!! The location and venue were perfect!! We were able to decorate and bring in a cake. Everything was set up perfect. We ordered the handheld options for the event and there was more than enough food. Folks really enjoyed the wings, chicken skewers, pizza stuffers, and egg rolls.

Yelp
PROS: - Got the fire burger, very good. High quality meat, good flavor. - Great fries. Wedge cut, just the right amount of fry for nice crust, but still had a great potato consistency on the inside. - Lots of beer options on tap. - Good friendly and helpful service. - Cool vibe and interior. Very open and airy, nice place to hang out! CONS: - Pot roast with mashed potatoes and brussells sprouts was a miss for us. Meat was a bit chewy and stringy and lacked flavor even with gravy on top. Brussells sprouts needed some more cook time and could use more char. We ordered two items that were on opposite ends of the delicious scale - clearly there was a strong item, and a weak one. We'll come back, and I'll get a burger again and the wife will definitely try something else. Wanted to give it more stars, but can't do that if the wife didn't enjoy her food.

Yelp
First of all, there's not a stiff breeze blowing through the building like there is in the other location. It's a little larger too, with more bar space. And the distillery is right there. The hot wings were decent. The Rueben passable. The cheesesteak was tremendous! The real star of the show was the onion rings. REAL ONIONS, piping hot! The sauce it comes with is tasty. Don't use ketchup PLEASE! Service by the bartenders was fast, accurate, and they gave recommendations that were on point. I'll definitely drive out of my way to return (we live within walking distance of the one South).

Yelp
Excellent service, great food and value. This is a hidden gem. Can't wait to return. Recommend the pot roast starter and the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich.

Yelp
Amazing food, great service and we just love the public house ambiance. Constant rotating local drafts. We've planned yet another visit.

Juliet C.

Yelp
10 out of 10 recommended! The Public House at Alexander has such a fun vibe; bright, open, and welcoming. We were greeted right away and even got water without having to ask (always a nice touch!). We tried the signature burgers with cottage fries and crispy Brussels sprouts on the side. The Caliente Burger and the Western Burger were amazing! The beef patties were thick, juicy, and cooked just right! So flavorful and satisfying. The staff were super friendly, quick, and worked together really well to keep everyone happy. All around, a great experience. I'd absolutely come back and 100% recommend this spot!

Yelp
We hit up the Public House last night for some drinks, bites, and a few good belly laughs -- it was their monthly comedy night, after all! The place had plenty of room to stretch out, and the food did not disappoint. My husband went for the carnitas tacos, I grabbed the shrimp ones, and honestly, both were pretty tasty. The comedians brought the laughs too! If I had to nitpick, the service was a little on the slow side... but hey, good food and good vibes made up for it!
google avatar

J B.

Yelp
We sat and ordered the appetizers. Service was excellent. Food was so good! Worth a stop.
google avatar

Nanea W.

Yelp
First time coming here and we absolutely loved it. I'm a huge fan of pub food so I knew exactly what I wanted. We ordered the siracha shrimp tacos and carnitas street tacos. Both were a hit and very filling. For $14 this meal was such a good deal. I forgot to catch our waiter's name but she was nice and checked on us frequently. Definitely gonna come back to try the burgers since it's very popular as well.
google avatar

Mj M.

Yelp
This place is great! For starters, the beer selection is always rotating and the selection is amazing! Second, they use locally sourced ingredients like buns and Colorado beef! Can't get any better than that!
google avatar

Karen K.

Yelp
Everyone in our party was delighted! Fried green tomatoes....ROCK! Poutine....EPIC and super filling! The Big dill was just that...BIG! We'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Bev C.

Yelp
The food at the Public House is always spot on and if we go during the day, the service is good. We made reservations a month in advance to celebrate my husband's birthday on a Friday evening at 6. The day before we added one more person for a party of 13. When my husband and I arrived at 5:45, there were only 12 chairs set at the table. In the next 10 minutes 6 others arrived. We had to flag someone down to take drink orders. Once the rest of our party came we thought we were all set. A waiter came over and asked if we wanted an app. None at the table were interested but do you think maybe he'd take our order? It was another 15 minutes before we decided to ask. Two friends had to leave before our food came. So disappointed in The Public House. We expected so much from them.

Yelp
I travel extensively for work and The Public House at The Alexander is my go to for good food, a great atmosphere and servers who are personable. Stephanie, Christine, Hannah, Shay, Lily, Gabby and the guys from the back of the house are always attentive and I love seeing all of them multiple times a week. I also love the music selection that plays and the Music Bingo that goes on every Monday night
google avatar

Joshua L.

Yelp
Visited on a Saturday, even with an event going on it was pretty fast. Decent local beer list. I specifically wanted to try their house spirits. They were fine.
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
4.3 rating. How? I ordered a French Dip, big mistake! Bad meat, no cheese, no onions and truly the service was poor. I ordered to start an Old Fashion. Sucked. I will never return
google avatar

Patrick G.

Yelp
The sriancha street tacos were excellent! High quality, high grade. A couple in our hotel mentioned they ate there every night they stayed here. Green Chili Ale. I highly recommend it.
google avatar

Yelp
Open air patio (in the Fall, at least) and clean spare interior are welcoming. Service was good despite there being one server. We both asked for iced tea which came out quickly. My husband had been here before and ordered a Chicken Spinach Salad. I asked for recommendations from our server, Stephanie, who said the Rueben was very popular (and one of her favorites), so I ordered that. I got pub fries as my side, based on other reviews. The food took a little while to be served, but it looked beautiful when it arrived at the table (see pictures). The salad was gorgeous and fresh and my husband commented that it was even better than on his previous visit. My sandwich was also plated beautifully, and it tasted as good as it looked. Their Ruben is slightly different than most: it is served on grilled sourdough rather than rye and has pepper jack cheese instead of Swiss. The sambal aioli is a change from the normal thousand island dressing. Altogether it was delicious. I look forward to returning and trying the Carnitas tacos and the burgers!

April F.

Yelp
They are so welcoming here and are very nice to dogs by giving them water and treats. I used to take my dog bridge all the time until she crossed the rainbow bridge and I just haven't been back since but I plan on going back soon.

Yelp
Food, service and ambiance were all great. Had a good evening. Thank you fir treating us well.

Yelp
We just visited the Public House at Alexander! Crazy neat place built in 1928... unique place with wide open space... They have 30 beers on tap and we found our tangerine cream ale and it was fantastic. The staff was friendly when we walked in and we started with an order of their fired green tomatoes. These were seriously the best we have had since we left the state of Alabama. They were crispy and cooked perfectly. Not greasy or oily and the mustard sauce over the top with a sprinkle of Cajun seasoning made it better! The crumbled goat cheese was the perfect topper to the appetizer. My wife does not like goat cheese but loved everything about this appetizer. We asked for hot sauce and never used it! We decided to try the Green Chile Mac and Cheese with Chicken and added the bacon as recommended by our server. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Juicy and moist inside with a perfect sear on the outside. We loved the flavors and the bacon was nice and crisp. We shared a side of the pub fries and they were crisp, hot and well seasoned. Could not ask for better service or food. The kitchen was immaculate and we cannot wait to try their burgers or other amazing dishes. The specials sounded amazing as well...
google avatar

Linda M.

Yelp
Our first time here. We came for dinner and I ordered the highly favored candied Caliente burger and husband had the flatbread pizza. They specialize in beers with a full blown beer menu and distillery in the back. Wait staff was good. The ambience is loud.
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Great food, great beer selection and friendly service. This was a fun find at an out of the way location in the springs.
google avatar

C G.

Yelp
Beer and cider on tap. Selection is fantastic and prices are actually reasonable for a bar. It helps the food is great too! Bartenders are super friendly and the event nights are hopping too!
google avatar

Cliff S.

Yelp
I had a mountain burger with bacon plus loaded pub chips. Overall the burger was great. The loaded chips were a little cold and the cheese congealed but we're very tasty. I sat at the bar and service was attentive but little interaction with bartender. I have to say the Bacon on the potatoes and the burger were not overcooked and very delicious. The ambiance was typical brew pub.
google avatar

Glenda E.

Yelp
The food is amazing, definitely the best burgers!! We also had the green chile Ale & the bikini limes sour which were great. Christine was our server and she is the best! Recommended really good options.
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Loud and busy but food and drinks were all wonderful. Live band in the back on the Friday night we visited. Great tap selection, local breweries well represented.

Jasmine M.

Yelp
The service was amazing loved my bartenders, hospitality 10/10. My drink was strong and really good. We ordered the mushroom burger and shrimp tacos both were wayyyy better than expected. Will definitely be back when in town.
google avatar

Abby T.

Yelp
Came here on New years Eve and had an amazing experience! The stout was so creamy and paired so well with the Ruben sandwich. We got the pretzel knots as our appetizer, and they were crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside, so delicious, and I loved the cheese sauce that came with! The Ruben sandwich was beyond amazing, the meat was perfectly cooked and plenty of it. The bread was soft, and so were the fries. Absolutely, everything tasted amazing and cooked perfectly. Both drinks and food are too good to pass up, definitely will be back!

Rob B.

Yelp
This spot is legit! The service was incredible, a total team effort by the entire electric staff. We never wanted for anything and made to feel welcome. Try the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Take it from someone who has enjoyed the namesake hot chicken in BNA dozens of times, the Public House's version was 100% authentic and on point. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Isaac L.

Yelp
All true food is wonderful. I especially love the pork tacos and hamburgers with bacon jam.

David S.

Yelp
Service was a little slow. I had the French dip. It was ok. Could have used a little more seasoning. Wife had the fried green tomatoes. Said they were good. Would probably go back again.
google avatar

Duane M.

Yelp
I do not have any negative comments . Great food, beer and service. We also enjoyed the vibe of the place.

Caitlyn H.

Yelp
We LOVE their food especially their wraps but to be honest their staff/ service are not great! A little disappointed this last time we went and their wraps were about half the size they normally are and they yet again were slacking on service.

Kathy O.

Yelp
Love the food and beer selection. Only 2 waitresses/ bar staff. Took awhile to order.
google avatar

Mollie D.

Yelp
The food was great! I liked my burger and potato wedges. The bun was fresh and you could tell that the burger itself was also fresh. My mom had the French dip and enjoyed it as well. The service was great too, I forgot our server's name but she was very sweet and knowledgeable of the menu and options, which helped one of my friends with the menu. I loved the ambiance, super cool little bar, and since we went in the springtime, they had the doors open, which was super nice. Overall it was great, can't wait to go back and try more food.
google avatar

Suzan V.

Yelp
Great menu - lots of variety. Kinda hidden away, but it definitely has ambience. We ate near the wide open roll-up door, and it was lovely. Great French Dip, though the rolls were nothing to write home about. Love those chunky seasoned "chips" (fries). Cole slaw was good as well, and the Candied Caliente Burger will bring us back again!
google avatar

Kari S.

Yelp
My husband and I stop by regularly for lunch or dinner and it's always delicious. Today I had the Bangers and Mash. This might be my new favorite dish.

Colleen ..

Yelp
Service was lacking in so many ways. Husband and I came in and sat at the bar. We didn't immediately know what we wanted to order. The bartender acted put out. When she finally took our order, she took her time to make the drinks. She never came back for refills or asking if we'd like to order another. You know how the flight deck crew on aircraft carriers signals the jets, that's what we had to do to get her attention. Food was alright, the "cocktails" menu on the board tasted like melted Slurpees (all the same sweet/sour taste just different colors).
google avatar

Ken D.

Yelp
Great beer selection with great food. Tucked away behind the Home2Suite and Herring Bank at The Alexander. Given how good the food is there was surprised at how few people were there. Worth going for the food even if you don't go for anything on their expansive beer wall. Absolutely impressed that the Hog Poppers (pork rinds) are freshly flash fried - they come out still crackling!!! They come with limes to squeeze over them. I was skeptic, but it worked well. You can optionally get them made spicy. Pro tip: stick with the big, lightly fried, airy pieces, the small, darker pieces are a tougher chew (very few pieces come out this way). I went with The Big Dill, a fried chicken sandwich with dill three ways. At the waitress's suggestion I added Buffalo sauce and it was a great addition and played off the dill very well. My son got the Cuban and it was so good that I never got a bite! LOL Didn't partake in any of the beers on tap, but the selection was impressive. Service was fast, friendly, and attentive!
google avatar

Michele K.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious burgers and fries! One of the best burgers I have ever had. The fries are amazing. Update: went back and had the brisket sliders and queso and chips, so good!
google avatar

Connor F.

Yelp
Public House is one of my absolute favorite spots in Colorado Springs. The food is excellent and fairly priced. They have the best burgers in town but the other options are all delicious too. Their team cares about quality and you can 100% tell. They always have an excellent selection of craft beer too. They are one of the best in town!
google avatar

Monika B.

Yelp
It's another yes for me. I'm gonna sing high praises for this restaurant to anyone who'll listen to me. I can't think of a negative word about my whole experience here. Walking in we were greeted by a cheerful face and a warm greeting. It truly makes such a difference sometimes. We were promptly told to chose our seating which was easy enough. The list of beers was explained to us as it was by the bar, again so easy! I ordered a peach cobbler cider and I instantly was hooked. Legit, I might go back within the week to sit and have another. It was perfect. We ordered the chips and queso to start and another hit! So delicious. The chips were thick enough to hold up to the queso which was a perfect consistency. Our burgers were the highlight though! My husband got the fire burger and I got the mountain burger. Omg, completely in heaven with the first bite. Each ingredient was well thought out and worked in perfect harmony with the others. Needless to say we left full, happy, and wishing we could start the whole experience again. We've already told friends they need to come, and hey! Maybe we'll join them.
google avatar

Denise M.

Yelp
Ordered the Philly cheesesteak and onion rings and it is delicious! Their beer draft selection is excellent. Would love to see Elysium IPA from Cerebus Brewery as one of their draft selections. Stephanie provided great service. They have daily specials. She is always so friendly.check out the daily specials board by the bar. One day, I will try their soup and the dessert from the daily specials.
