20 Top-Tier Denver Coffee Shops

"This true original, one of RiNo’s first hangouts, brews with beans from a rotating roster of more than 20 local and national outfits, including Delaware’s Brandywine Coffee Roasters and Portland, Oregon’s Roseline Coffee. Speaking of pride, it’s rightly bullish on its kitchen, which turns out specials galore — from chilaquiles with freshly fried tortilla chips to elaborate sandwiches like braised lamb–stuffed flatbread with mint gremolata, spicy garlic sauce, and pickled onions. A few blocks away, Crema Bodega awaits at Denver Central Market." - Ruth Tobias, Eater Staff

10 Best Coffee Shops in Denver | Condé Nast Traveler

"Crema is a pioneer on Denver’s craft coffee scene—our own little slice of the circa-1993 Pacific Northwest. The coffee selection at this Curtis Park spot is fairly straightforward—classic espresso drinks, pour overs, cold brews—and keeps the focus on high-quality beans from a roster of established and up-and-coming roasters like Herkimer, Counter Culture, and Denver’s own Queen City Collective. Fresh-pressed juices, local kombucha in rotating flavors, chai, and tea are other options. There's also a full kitchen serving just about everything, from brûleed grapefruit and sweet-potato waffles to quiches and croissants." - Ruth Tobias

A RiNo stalwart since 2009, Crema pairs a serious multiroaster program with an all-day menu (don’t miss the sweet potato waffle). Consistently recommended by Eater Denver and praised by 5280, it’s a reliable window into Denver’s third-wave history.

Crema Coffee House

Google
Central market is this great space with several food and beverage vendors. Inside is Crema coffee. I came for the matcha on my matcha tour. I am only reviewing the matcha. The matcha was not my favorite. I had the ube matcha and to be honest I couldn’t taste the ube. It just tasted like plain old matcha nothing special. Again, another syrup instead of purer or compote. Better stick to the coffee for this place. Service was excellent and did not have to wait long for the matcha. 3/10 would not recommend for matcha.

Google
This place, is DIFFERENT. I can tell that they care about being unique but also having such an encouraging and uplifting atmosphere. The espresso tasted very handcrafted, the cinnamon roll was incredible and the cortado my fiance got was very tasty! She loved it! More coffee shops should post obvious signs of warning those who make environments toxic and less fun for others. It definitely happens more than you think. We HAVE TO COME BACK!

Google
Great coffee brews and light bites. Sistainanle, inclusive, cool, and cheery. Def worth a stop

Google
This place is the OG of coffee in the Denver area. I’ve been coming here since 2010 and despite the changes in staff (as any place opened as long should have) the greatness has never lapsed. The espresso is excellent…they use a combination of different roasters from all over the US. It is rare that you find a coffee shop that produces top quality espresso with house baked goods…I know there are many that try. I applaud them, but none can match what Crema does here. Their service is quick yet patient. At times there are lines, but the staff handles the rush with efficiency and friendliness. I have traveled throughout the world and I have not found Crema’s equal. They’re quirky (as you’d expect in a thriving artistic community), skilled, and consistently excellent.

Google
Lovely spot. The juice is phenomenal, & I loved the espresso plate with a chaser of soda water to refresh! Had a gal gathering here. It was marvelous.

Google
Great little coffee shop within walking distance of my Airbnb on Curtis St. Haven't tried their food, but some decent tea choices.

Google
I absolutely loved the first time I set foot in Crema Coffee House, at 2863 Larimer Street. The ambience was magical, with unique and fun murals painted on the brick walls. My mocha was tasty, and the latte art was stunning. And, someone who enjoys watching people come in and out, this place had a variety of traffic. I went back, today. The inside is still closed to customers, due to the pandemic. But, they were open for business for curbside service. And there is news of them potentially opening back up for indoor service, in the not-too-distant future. Can’t wait! Some of the indoor shots I’m including, here, are from my visit back in 2019. EDITED: I’ve gone since September 2021. It’s great to be back at one of my favorite coffee shops in Denver. The birds mural is new to me, since I hadn’t been inside for over a year.

Google
Great food. I purchased a cappuccino and the meat sandwich with potato salad. I recommend all options I purchased. Friendly staff and atmosphere. I did not get the waffle but saw others and it looks delicious

Yelp
Did not plan to visit or review this place however after grabbing lunch up the street - my friend suggested it for a nice little post lunch pick us up. Really quaint spot - a lot of customers drinking their beverages, relaxing, talking etc. the menu is diverse & has a great selection of things on it - truly I mean there's a beet & goat cheese salad on there! (Another day beet salad - another day!) I ordered a flat white & my friend a latte both were almost literal coffee perfection. Quite literally one of the best flat whites I've had in years. Words won't do it justice. The foam art was a surprise... no time for a picture unfortunately.. but next time! Thank you to the kind & helpful staff & the message at the bottom of the receipt.. Loved!

Yelp
My favorite coffee shop in RiNo. The people are always so nice and I love the vibe on the inside to catch up with a friend or grind out some work. In addition to awesome coffee, they've got a great food menu. The veggie quiche is my go to! Also if you're feeling healthy, their house made juice is super yummy too.
google avatar

Yelp
New favorite coffee shop!!! It's awesome. The staff are ALWAYS nice and catchin a vibe there's a few tables inside to work remotely at and a patio outback to chill on if the weather is nice. The breakfast burrito is nice - nothing like super crazy about it - eggs beans cheese and meat but the salsa it came with was nuts. Gotta dunk the burrito in there if you get one!! Cortado was lovely and the nitro cold brew was the best... I've ever had..? Honestly I think so.
google avatar

Greg F.

Yelp
The food was high quality and delicious. The restaurant was slammed. They ran through the line quickly. Really good food and a nice place. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Annette T.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop with lots of good food options! Partner and I got the sweet potato waffle which was unique and fluffy and delicious. And also shared the meat breakfast burrito. Not my favorite breakfast burrito but the salsa on the side was tasty and went well with it. I also got the fresh juice and I forgot all the ingredients in it but it was definitely fresh and was really good for being a "healthy" juice!

Yelp
Crema coffee house is so great!! We stumbled upon it a few weeks ago. My boyfriend and I split the chickpea salad and the sandwich they had on special. We weren't really expecting much because we didn't research the place at all, just looking for a quick snack. Boy were we're surprised!! The food was so good. I didn't know which cold brew to get to so the barista let me try each type. I ended up going for the nitro cold brew, which I had never had before. So good!! The ambiance in here is also amazing. We're moving to RiNo in a bit and I'm definitely coming here to WFH or to just hang/read. I loved the wood interior and all the decor.

Yelp
Needed to kill some time and this was down the street from a shop we were at. Street parking wasn't as easy as it should be in the middle of the week, but we found one. It was short walk and had an hour before they closed. It was pretty quiet, a few people working and some chatters. Small, but cozy place. I wouldn't mind bringing some work here and enjoy the people watching, sip some latte, and work. It was quick and easy with the barista. I had a caramel latte and my friend ordered a juice. Wow, the latte was perfection. It was rich and creamy, bold but not too bold, flavorful and it was the perfect late afternoon latte. I loved it. My friend was jealous, while sipping her fresh juice. I thought of having one also, by I can't cheat on any good latte. Will definitely stop again when I'm in the area!

Yelp
Crema is always the de facto standby for coffee in RiNo for me. The blends are smooth and robust! The quiche is the bomb - flakey and light pastry, rich egg custard goodness with whatever filling is on tap that day. The outside patio dining is shady and dog-friendly. It is always fun to crowd and dog-watch there.
google avatar

Jessica A.

Yelp
Very cute coffee shop! Atmosphere is nice even has an outside area. Combo of people studying/working in computers to people going for brunch. They have a variety of food, all looked really good. I got the sweet potato waffle... BOMB. Also got an iced matcha latte nothing special just like a normal one. They had these massive croissant (I did not try but tempered to come back and get one). Only con is pretty pricey, I'm not from the area so a shock when a waffle and matcha latte cost 19 dollars. But overall good place!!
google avatar

Nicole F.

Yelp
The food and atmosphere here are outstanding! The pastries are over the moon delicious! The coffee is good and strong! The chai is also delicious! The staff has generally been pretty friendly, not everyone is super personable, but they are never rude. This is a very busy shop! If you plan to eat there I would check for a seat before you place your order just so you know if you'll have one or not. The place is filled with beautiful art and flyers for local events. My biggest wish for this location is outdoor seating on the street. It appears they have a back patio but I have never seen anyone use it and am unsure about the status of that. Do not leave without a fresh cookie...seriously. It will melt in your mouth.
google avatar

Linna L.

Yelp
Great place to work from home and study. There is so much seating! The food is SO good. Coffee is good. Service is friendly and fast. Two hour free street parking, you can find some parking with no time limit. Indoor and outdoor seatings, lots of it! Such a vibe
google avatar

D'Ann J.

Yelp
Amazing lattes and yummy food! I had the yogurt and granola and it was so good. Everyone was friendly and my take out order came out quickly!
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
Awesome lattes, great staff, and tasty sandwiches. The vibe is super cool inside, and I love that it's an inclusive place.
google avatar

Kristi M.

Yelp
After living in the area for two plus years, I have finally tried this spot! It's wayyy bigger than I realized. Huge patio and lots of indoor seating. The barista was incredibly friendly. The iced latte was pretty tasty and I love the cute glass they served it in. They have all house made syrups. (Just fyi there isn't a sugar free syrup option!) There is have a much bigger food menu then I expected. I chose the pecan sticky bun today and it was a great sweet treat. I will def be back soon for a remote work day!
google avatar

Amanda P.

Yelp
Decor and location are only the tip of the iceberg! We had the sweet potato waffle and meat burrito - WOW. The burrito was done on a panini press so it had the perfect crunch. Waffle is a must - may recommend splitting. The staff / hospitality was also amazing - we'll be back!

B C.

Yelp
Went there for a piece of quiche. The salads that come with the quiche are huge and the dijon style dressing is delicious. They were busy on a Saturday morning but the food and drink didn't take too long.
google avatar

Tony B.

Yelp
One of the best food options for coffee shops in Denver, seating isn't bad, but it can get pretty busy--worth it I'd say
google avatar

Sydney F.

Yelp
Enjoyed the back patio space a lot. Very walkable to other restaurants, shops, bars, etc. Crema was packed but the line did not take long. Enjoyed an iced matcha (not as much flavor as I would have liked but not sweet, which I love) and a bacon cheese croissant. Will be going back when I am in the area.

Hannah L.

Yelp
I've been living in Denver for a year now. Denver food scene is trash but this coffee place will always be my favorite! Employees are great and coffee is even better!
google avatar

Bradley L.

Yelp
Stopped by and tried a latte with almond milk. The shop is super cozy with tons of great art. Plenty of spots to settle down and work as well. As for the coffee, it tasted pretty good. No complaints

Mark M.

Yelp
Excellent coffee. No matter what we order, they do it right. Outstanding bakery goods, especially the chocolate crescents. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Jen W.

Yelp
Great coffee and fun vibe inside. Nice outdoor patio that's shady and dog friendly. Fast service.
google avatar

Hailey G.

Yelp
Best coffee shop in Denver and I'll die on that hill. The baristas are so friendly, the music slaps, the pastries send me into another dimension, and it's the best coffee I've literally ever had. My favorite way to start the day. Tysm for existing!
google avatar

Brena E.

Yelp
This has nothing to do with my rating, but wanted to point out that parking is pretty hard to find around there, so plan ahead. I got there about noon on a Saturday and the line was so long. I would guess I was in line maybe 15 minutes. I wanted a breakfast burrito, but I was too late for that. Picked up a croissant and a lemon cookie and they were both really good. The space is cool with interesting art.
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
I personally think their regular coffee is rather week. I am a Peet's junky and that shit is rocket fuel...and I like it. Their Chai's and milk based coffees are good. Pairs really well with Izzos pastires. Just sayin
google avatar

Carlos H.

Yelp
Cool hipster hangout that leaves an impression. I enjoyed a pour over with Colombia coffee sourced from North Carolina. Barista was very friendly and from Destin, Florida. I enjoyed a good conversation with her. The music playing in the coffee shop was lively hip-hop music. The food looked good, but I decided not to eat today. I would go back to try. I liked how spacious the coffee shop is with plenty of seating both inside and outside. Prices of coffee were about standard. A very cool neighborhood cafe.
google avatar

Love P.

Yelp
The coffee ad Crema is so good. I loved the neighborhood and had no idea what to expect. I was happy to get a perfectly made oat milk latte. I can't wait for my return to Denver as this will be one of the to-dos on my list.

David C.

Yelp
This is what a cafe should be...solid baristas that know their craft and show a real professionalism for the customer and their co-workers. The roast is very good and the pastries equally great. What's best though is the space: Natural without attitude or pretentiousness and truly let's you feel at home. Thanks!

Isaac M.

Yelp
Great coffee, ok atmosphere, usually friendly service but the quality of the coffee is really the selling point here
google avatar

Sarah A.

Yelp
Great coffee options. Would love to see more variety in sandwiches. Would've loved to see some variety in that bread especially and sides of sandwiches. Even just having a croissant instead of the rolls that they used would have elevated the sandwich to the next level. Overall this place is quite a vibe and the outdoor seating area is very cute. It is an eclectic atmosphere that has a nice homey dive bar sort of feel. Very fun and a cool spot to grab coffee with friends.
google avatar

Lourdes G.

Yelp
this is my go to coffee shop living in RiNo. they have a rewards card that they punch for you. obsessed with their veggie quiche and love that it changes all the time. i love it here and i name this the best coffee shop in denver.
google avatar

Amy B.

Yelp
Good, reasonably priced coffee. They have a gluten-free sweet potato waffle that looks really good, but I haven't tried it. A decent number of veg options. Nice vibe.
google avatar

Mara B.

Yelp
Crema is a treat! I love to go here either before or after having brunch at Barcelona for coffee. Barcelona doesn't have fancy espresso drinks, so I love that this is right across the way offering a variety of options. The selection of alternative milks is one of my favorite things too. It was so hot the day I went so I grabbed an iced coffee so I could walk around RiNo with my friends. They're pretty quick since they have a number of people working on coffee behind the register. The funniest part for me was watching the barista deciding if he was going to attempt my name or not. The coffee was really good too, which is why I usually find myself here after brunches at Barcelona or when in the area. You can't go wrong!
google avatar

Emily K.

Yelp
Cute neighborhood coffee shop. There are a few seats indoors and outdoors. I am off caffeine at the moment, so I didn't get any coffee but I did get a waffle. It was very tasty and the service was good. They give you a number and then come find you and deliver the food to you.
google avatar

Michael F.

Yelp
Awesome coffee shop in the heart of RiNo. There is space to work, read, meet, or just hang out. The staff is very inviting and the coffee is tasty. They have a sister location in the Denver Central Market, also a great place to visit.
google avatar

Adnan Q.

Yelp
An amazing coffee shop/breakfast spot. The food and pastries are great but the quiche.... BEST IN DENVER! And there's always a meat or veggie option. Rotating espresso and coffe for pour overs which are of top quality. Kombucha on tap. Great neighborhood crowd. Super welcoming- a sign indicates consequences for racist behavior.

Alexis K.

Yelp
The customer service was fantastic. I myself have been in the service industry for years so it's hard not to notice, but the cashier was very accommodating, answered all my questions, was super patient explaining the vegetarian options too. I had a half-caf cortado which was strong and bold but super tasty, the foam was the right consistency. The quiche is also one of the best I've had! My sparkling water was flat but that's not their fault lol, overall great place, would def come back again!
google avatar

Jessica A.

Yelp
Such a cool place! From the art on the outside of the building to the interior there is a lot to look at that is pleasing to the eye. Their cold brew is incredibly tasty and well worth the trip for someone who is into high quality coffee. Others in the party had iced americanos which were also reportedly good and my nephew had a huge cinnamon roll that he greatly enjoyed. The service was fast and friendly. Well worth a trip!
google avatar

Kayla B.

Yelp
Crema is a very chill vibe with a great variety of pastries and food along with great local and outsourced coffee. Service is fast and friendly even with a line and the space is large enough to stay and hangout without feeling crammed. My friend got the breakfast burrito and said it was great! Will go back and update a review once I try some more of the pastries but definitely worth a visit!
google avatar

Sam L.

Yelp
I've been to Crema twice now, both times have had a great experience! Baristas are super friendly and their menu goes beyond just coffee and pastries. Prices are on par with other nice coffee spots in the area (aka gentrified RiNo) and there's space indoors as well as a patio outside for sitting and working. One quirk - there are no outlets available (or none that I found) so make sure your electronics are charged before heading over. Foot + drink-wise, I've enjoyed their chai and the breakfast burrito (I got with meat) is definitely worth waking up for. They have plenty of vegetarian options and I want to come back to try out their sandwiches!
google avatar

Stefanie C.

Yelp
Okay, the Sweet Potato Waffle totally lives up to the hype. Ate it so fast, I forgot to take a picture. Don't come here if you're in a rush, especially during lunchtime, because food can take awhile to prepare. They did warn me that they only had one waffle iron, but it gave me more time to chill with my friends. Enjoyed my latte in the meantime. Lots more food options to try in the future. Street parking can be a challenge as always in this neighborhood, but as always, I'm thrilled that Crema seems to be doing well as a business. Poppin' with remote workers all the time!
google avatar

Alissa M.

Yelp
Took 21 visits before I knew they had a punch card program. Was a little peeved no one ever asked me. I found out when they offered the woman in front of me a punch card one day and were super friendly to her, and then when it came to my turn, they just took my order with no fanfare. I guess I shouldn't be surprised...customer service here was hit and miss for me. Sometimes the person behind the counter would be friendly and sometimes you'd get someone who seemed annoyed to help you. Aside from the customer service snafus, I really enjoyed my visits to Crema during the 3 months I lived in Denver. The line could get long some mornings, but they were usually pretty quick to get you your drinks. If you order food with a long line, you might have to wait a while. Their cappuccino is solid as is the cold brew. I got the kombucha once and was underwhelmed. I forget what flavor it was but it didn't taste like that at all. The food here is what really earns the 4 stars. It's rare that coffee shops with such good coffee also serve great savory food options. Both the quiche and breakfast burritos are great choices. If you're looking for a super authentic Mexican breakfast burrito, you'll be disappointed, but put aside those expectations and you'll be happy. Also loved the banh mi and meatball sandwich for lunch. Huge portions - you could definitely share with someone. TLDR- customer service is meh, but great coffee and food.

C D.

Yelp
I love this space! The coffee rotates, so if you're choosy about beans, take note... I love the outdoor space and central location. The coffee is good, but the vibe is better...

Korina H.

Yelp
Some fun Gluten Free treats and meals. I wanted to try the Waffle but settle on a granola bar. Coffee, juice & bar were delish. Great art work too.

Sapphire G.

Yelp
I had a matcha latte here and loved it so much! The art inside and outside the establishment is amazing as well! Service was excellent!
google avatar

Timothy L.

Yelp
How have I never visited this coffee shop after spending so much time on Larimer street? You'll recognize the shop by the yellow Don't Tread on Me art work. Looks small from the outside, but theres quite a few tables inside and even a back patio where I saw a few dogs. Would be a nice spot to grab coffee and hop on the laptop for a little. There's wifi available. Parking can get hard, but you can park a few streets down in street residential area. Coffee was yum. Tried the Brasil pour over. Nice fruity notes, not bitter. I haven't tried the food but looks pretty good.
google avatar

Devyn A.

Yelp
My partner and I are regulars here and even when it's busy in the morning the staff is always kind and the quality of coffee /beverages is always on point. I really like their sport tea or their matcha
google avatar

Anna C.

Yelp
Hands down the best coffee shop in Denver . They make a really mean caramel latte and the baked goods are definitely something to call home about. This is an excellent place to stop by and grab a quick. The service is always prompt and friendly and the baked goods are made in house that morning.
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
I love this coffee shop so much. It was my favorite when we lived in Rino, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. Whenever we're in Rino on a weekend morning, this is where breakfast is happening. First: the coffee. Well-brewed craft coffee. They always have an excellent flavor on drip, and can make a mean latte with all the speed and style you need to get your caffeine fix! Second: the food. It's so underratedly good. The breakfast burrito is a staple favorite. I get here earlier for breakfast than I used to (#gettingold), but I remember these were so popular they used to sometimes run out before I got my hands on one! The ultimate disappointment. Don't worry - either they upped burrito production or it's my early-rising tendencies, but this doesn't happen anymore. All their other items are great too - quiche, speicialty sandwiches, and even lunch items. Lots to choose from! Third: the service. All the baristas and kitchen staff are so friendly. They're certainly down to business & get you your coffee in a jiffy, but they do it with kindness. During the pandemic too, they've been so conscious of restrictions & respecting others. I've always appreciated this about Crema, and it will continue to encourage me to return.
