The Five-Stop Shopping Guide to Tangier

"Bonus mention: One of the best meals had was a seven-course, no-frills, all-fish lunch from Saveur du Poission next door to Fondouk Chejra."

I visited Restaurant Saveur de Poisson in Tangier two weeks ago, and it was an excellent experience. This is a traditional, popular, and old restaurant without air conditioning, but the atmosphere feels authentic and welcoming. They are well-known for certain dishes at reasonable prices, although I forgot the exact price per person. The meal started with a delicious soup, followed by a shrimp dish, possibly served with very tasty spinach. Next, we had grilled fish, freshly caught from the local area, which was amazing. Finally, a dessert was served, and they also offered a very sweet, aged juice mixture that was quite unique. The staff were friendly, attentive, and very helpful throughout the visit. Overall, the experience was fantastic, and I would definitely return. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Tangier.

Incredible experience! Saveur de Poisson (Fishe Restaurant) is a must-visit in Tangier. No menu — just fresh, delicious food full of flavor and soul. The fish, the juices, the starters — all amazing. Cozy atmosphere and warm, welcoming staff. Truly one of the best meals I’ve ever had!

We found this place because of an article in the New York Times first off the awning has changed, so don’t look for that as a landmark to find this place. I’m posting a current picture of what the façade looks like. It was truly a authentic and wonderful experience the owner and staff could not have been more friendly and helpful nor the food delicious. It’s refreshing to sit down at your table and not have to make a choice on what to eat. this is a prefixed restaurant where they just start bringing out the delicious seafood, very generous portions. I have to say I was stuffed by the end and had to take a nap. If visiting this town, definitely come here.

WORTH THE WAIT. For once in my life, I stood in line and I’m so glad I did. The food was absolutely incredible. My partner and I were starving, and we were SERVED. Big time. Huge thanks to our InDriver who rerouted us here! we were heading somewhere else, and he made sure we experienced the original spot. From now on, no trip to Tangier without stopping here. Hands down our absolute favorite restaurant in town! 💛

Easy to walk right by. Small entrance, not flashy. 250 Dirham set price for daily menu. You must like seafood as that is their menu every day. Everything is fresh, I watched everything being made. Pomegranate juice fresh. Excellent olives, bread, roasted nuts, and spicy red pepper sauce immediately on the table. Wonderful fish soup next. Followed by a mix of sautéed seafood in a very hot caste iron skillet. Then a wonderful grilled fish. Dessert! Small room but guests move in and out fairly quickly. Excellent service. Cash only.

Loved it here, it's nothing to look at from the outside, but it's fantastic food and a family feel, fixed menu 250dm and worth every penny, 4 courses and house juice, the waiting staff were like friends and the food was too die for. Dine here soon. 👍

Wonderful experience, food and staff 😍 the generous set menu for 250 DH per person is well worth it. The restaurant is small and cozy, at 1 pm on Wednesday (opening hour) there was only a couple and it started to get busier around 2 pm. From start to finish, the food was exquisite 👌🏽 authentic delicious northern Moroccan cuisine 😋 we ate everything and finished all our plates! This resto is a must in Tangier!
