An East Side classic refreshed by new owners in 2024 who kept the beloved ultra‑thin recipe and added extras. OnMilwaukee documented the handoff; Urban Milwaukee reported late‑night hours in 2025. Expect tavern‑cut crunch, old‑school charm, and a community stalwart finding fresh legs.

Me and a friend had dinner here last night and I will absolutely be telling everyone I know to come here! We got eggplant fries to share and she got the Pesto Veggie pizza and I got the Alla Vodka Sandwich, both were delicious and super flavorful. Every thing was cooked perfectly. We even got the mini donuts and tiramisu to go for their Thursday special and they were great! Our waitress was so kind and attentive and was great at pointing out the best stuff on the menu. I will definitely be back to try more stuff soon!

Google
What a gross experience! We ordered two pizzas, fries & cheese bread. The cheese bread was barely baked in. Looks like they went to the grocery store and bought bread and cheese. The pizza ( sausage, onion and peppers) was lack luster. Barely any toppings. The second pizza was just grease but not in a good way. The fries were so oily and had not even a lick of salt on them. We were all pretty hungry and no one finished their food which is sad for how much we paid ($50+). We were here for the first time and this left us with a bad taste in our mouth literally and figuratively.

Google
I dined in alone at the bar on a weeknight here while in town for work. The food was absolutely incredible but what really puts this place a head above the rest is the unbelievable service. Samantha and Mackenzie both provided me with a level of hospitality on par with eating at a Michelin-star restaurant (or my grandma’s house) and gave me some very much needed non-work related social interaction. You can truly tell that everyone here believes in what they do — feeding the community and creating a cozy space to come together. Staff and patrons alike are treated like family. If I could give 7 stars I would

Google
The best pizza near UWM. The Eggplant fries are worth coming back to try again!

Google
incredibly kind server, classic pizza store atmosphere, great prices, and some of the best Detroit deep dish i’ve ever had! the detroit style crust was infused with pbr and it adds the perfect flavor.

Google
Great food, using fresh quality ingredients. Service with a smile, in a nice & cozy atmosphere. Bonus - Patio seating in the summertime.

Google
Best pizza in mke and i will die on that hill and have for over a decade now. Detroit style now too is fantastic Got there early and the server was great. Id vote for her on the premise of no xmas crap before thanksgiving. Finally someone acknowledges the real issues that matter.

Google
Been coming here for a while and realized I never left the review they deserved. Detroit pizza and hot honey pizza are amazing!! Atmosphere is very relaxing and service is awesome! Also half price to pitcher days are great. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Amazing Pizza! Great Customer Service! On the Eastside of Milwaukee Lisa's Pizza is located. A small beautifully decorated restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. I order from there at least every other week! Try my personal favorite Large Deluxe pizza with basil and spinach and a garden salad with shaved Parmesan cheese and Vinaigrette dressing!

Yelp
I've had Lisa's quite a few times by delivery and my BF and we really enjoy their pizza. They have some interesting toppings on offer and fun pizzas and plenty of choices for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. I have not tried any of their non-pizza menu items yet, so I can't speak to them. I also can't vouch for their restaurant space, since we just get delivery. They do a great Milwaukee cracker tavern crust. The whipped ricotta topping is yummy and novel. We are fans overall, but I do think the prices are a little high. I love to support a small business but our delivered order ends up costing us as much as a fine dining evening out. Still, this is one of two or three pizza places we regularly order from in Milwaukee and it always hits the spot.

Yelp
First, I think the food is a 5, but they forgot to send my beverage with my order....sadness. But on to the good stuff. The cheese breadsticks were not what I was expecting. They were thick and airy in the middle with an excellent outer crunch. And the clearly use very good mozzarella. I could have used just a touch more marinara, but very delicious. I ordered a deluxe pizza. This had an amazing amount of toppings. The crust was delightfully thin and crispy, even after a delivery. I think I enjoyed the sausage the most. Excellent flavor. I would order again.

Yelp
Really enjoyed Lisa's pizza! The crust was crispy and toppings and cheese tasted fresh. We got the pizzas take out and it worked great. The pizzas were ready when they said they would be, which I really appreciate! Hate picking up cold pizzas! My boyfriend picked up the pizzas and said the restaurant inside was adorable and a great vibe, so will have to check it out dine in next time.

Yelp
Oh man a Milwaukee pizza spot. There is something pretty special about the crust; melts in your mouth almost cracker like bar pizza. Man. Takes me back to waitressing and bartending at a place by the airport where every pizza was perfection. I digress. Lisa's is a cute spot, a few stairs up. My dad and I went and it was very chill: our server was nice and quick, and the food was excellent. Fried mushrooms, and that pizza. Perfection in crisp crust, great cheese, savory sauce. Such a winter. Definitely a go to if you're up in the area and if you aren't, make your way there!

Yelp
Tried Lisa's for the first time and went on a Tuesday to take advantage of their specials, 1/2 off pitcher of beer and buy one get one half off pizza. Really enjoyed the pizzas, two different styles made pretty well with quality ingredients. The build your own Detroit style with Wisconsin Brick Cheese and pepperoni was slightly over done but that didn't detract from the flavor. The slight umami hit from the dough balances out the touch of sweet from the sauce and the fattieness of the pepperoni. The pub style had a strong crust with pepperoni and a dollap of ricotta cheese on each slice with a drizzle of hot honey. I didn't get the heat of the honey but overall felt it was a great pairing. If you've been wanting to go, do it.

Yelp
My friend ordered a mushroom artichoke veggie pizza delivery and it was so tasty! No issues! I wanna go back an try their other flavors!

Yelp
Whenever a restaurant comes under new ownership, there is always a question of what will happen with the recipes that made it noteworthy. Lucky for us, the new owners (Hannah and Dean) kept what worked and added their own amazing additions, backed by their own developing culinary backgrounds and experiences. For example, along with the traditional sauce that made Lisa's pizza so delicious, there is also Hannah's own dessert recipes, an espresso martini made with Dean's own cold brew coffee recipe and the garlic bread, also created by Dean. While small changes have been made to the interior, with more slowly on the way, you will still find the dining room dimly lit and intimate. Although service was a little slow to start, our girl who seemed to be running the whole show did the best she could. Then Dean arrived, and he did an excellent job engaging and assisting us. He was kind enough to answer all our questions and make recommendations. The large cheese, sausage, mushroom and onion pizza we shared was fantastic and made with a generous amount of toppings. The combo plate veggies had a crispy coating, which kept their texture tender but not soft. The cheesy garlic bread was to die for. One of, if not THE best, I've ever had. DO NOT go here without ordering some! Then there's the Tiramisu. WOW. You could taste the coffee, although not overwhelmingly so, and the cream was fluffy and not overly sweet. Lisa's has been a Milwaukee staple, and it was wonderful to experience the classic flavors that brought us back, as well as new flavors that will keep us coming back for more!

Yelp
The ordering process was very easy and smooth one quick phone call. The lady on the phone was very nice, but I ordered from their late night menu and I was told when I asked for extra sauce that it was a generous amount of sauce but when I got my pizza, there was no sauce on it, except around the edges of the crust very disappointing And when I called the lady back on the phone while she was understanding which I hundred percent, give her credit for there was no mention of talking with the morning staff who make the pizza about correcting the issue I did come back two days after to get a refund and the process took less than two seconds she took the pizza and gave me my money back I just wanted this to be a warning for whoever orders here don't order off the late night menu. The photo is from 20 minutes after I got my order.

Stefano G.

Yelp
The MEATZZAA pizza is to die for! Full of meats, not greasy, juicy thin crust. Great menu and selections of wines.

Anne M.

Yelp
We just went to Lisa's pizza for the first time with the new owners. All I can say is it was amazing! The server Brad was wonderful! The food was delicious. Highly recommended!

Eric N.

Yelp
Pizza and Salad were awesome. Old school Milwaukee pizzeria. Definitely will be back.

Dominique T.

Yelp
Pizza is so great! Tables are a bit close together for the 2 person tables, we both kept getting our chairs bumped :/ food was great though, but I'd take it to-go next time due to poor seating for small tables

Joe B.

Yelp
I have been eating at Lisa's my entire life, just went tonight for the first time since the ownership change...wow...the pizza was as good as ever and we also sampled a few of the new items (Caprese and hot honey wings) Caprese was excellent - presented in a way that you would see at an upscale Italian restaurant and the portion was huge too....but the wings may have stolen the show - seriously perfect - crunchy, juicy and just right amount of hot honey. TLDR - Lisa's is better than ever - our server was awesome too - he was a one man show out there.

Yelp
*Chef's kiss* Such a hidden gem in the city. Lisa's has become my go to pizza spot by far. Super tasty and the deserts are good too! The waiters were very polite. If your looking for chill spot to bring friends to chat over quality pizza look no further!

Evann M.

Yelp
Staff was very friendly, inside was cute and good vibe. Service was good. I got maggies Detroit pizza and it was good but very bready without much sauce (little dry). Would go back and order something new to try!

Yelp
Thin crust pizza is our jam. That being said- pizza is never good for take out- especially thin crust. We thoroughly enjoyed Lisa's. And will be back. The sauce has good flavor, same with sausage.. and loved the pepperoni on pizza as well. We looked online and saw they had three sizes to order- mistakenly ordered "large"- but got the 14"- instead of the 16". Lisa's was super kind and even offered to put in another order for us- but it really was our error... and we lived with our own mistake. Only had two working inside (working their butts off)- so a large group of people were waiting for tables on the stairwell ... which is hard to do takeout with a bunch of people in a queue. If you love thin crust pizza... out this on your list- it's a definite keeper.

Kristin B.

Yelp
I love this pizza I'll always come here when in milwaukee! I'm a pizza snob and it's pretty damn good

Yelp

Yelp
In an effort to try to support more local establishments this past year, my husband and I realized we had been driving past Lisa's on Oakland Ave for quite awhile, and never stopped to try it out. WE ARE SO GLAD WE DID!! We've only done take out, and can't wait to dine in when we feel more comfortable to do so - the interior is comfortable, quaint and everything you'd hope for in a neighborhood Italian place! We've had the French Fried Eggplant ($8.00), which is served with a delicious marinara, and would highly recommend. It gives Sazs eggplant a run for their money, which was always my benchmark! The Calamari ($7.50) is also a nice starter, and a good portion for sharing too! But then, the PIZZA! I'm a die-hard thin crust girl, and by golly this is great thin crust pizza. We always do a build your own pizza in our house, and did 2 larges for 3 people. We had some leftovers, but honestly, you should probably just get the XL size because you won't want this pizza to end! Also, if you like sausage on your pizza, theirs is homemade, and delicious! Can't wait to continue supporting Lisa's Pizza, and we are glad we have a new go-to place in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Just ate here. The staff was great our server super friendly and great. Other then that food was not good. We ordered onion rings. Could tell they were processed from a box, chewy (not in a good way) and thick coating very little onion. The pizza was cooked but mediocre. Nothing stood out.

Aimee R.

Yelp
The "new" Lisa's just doesn't live up to what it used to be. Not sure what the new owners are doing here. They seem to have a huge employee turnover which leaves them short staffed with slow service and mediocre food. The pizza is not the same as it used to be and the prices have gone up.

Brian M.

Yelp
Pizza was ok very thin crust with a taste of honey and pepperoni was good. Would not recommend here for pizza

Donna G.

Yelp
Excellent service from our server Steelie. Food was delicious and wait time was reasonable considering they were busy. Place is clean and cozy. Can't wait to return.

Beca M.

Yelp
We heard great things about Lisa's Pizzeria and we were not disappointed. We got The Special, cheesy bread, and their chocolate cheesecake. All of it was delicious. We really enjoyed the thin crust and the sauce on the pizza. They had it 20 minutes after I ordered and it was ready for pick up. Over all great service and will be returning.

Teairra H.

Yelp
Very good pizza and very friendly staff . My order is always prepared to perfection. Lisa's gets it wall the time.

Gregory J.

Yelp
Lisa's been our local favorite for decades and decades. The new owners are making some changes but the pizza remains excellent. Gone is the old jukebox box and instead we get an incredible playlist of tunes from the 40's, and 50's. Craft cocktails are being added to the mix. Things are still shaking out but I'm thinking this is all going to be great.

Andrea K.

Yelp
First time ordering since the new ownership Pizza is still delicious! Dinner salad is generous for $6 Happy Lisa's is back!
google avatar

Jim S.

Yelp
First time here. Quick service. Very polite waitress. Had a Fresh salad prior which was perfect before the feast. Pizza was very good.

Yelp
I'm a Lisa's fan and loyalist. I've been coming here for 30 years and the pizza rarely disappoints. Today my kids wanted Ian's so instead I picked them up Sal's because Lisa's was across the street. I got mine the boys got there's. The sauce was sweet and the crust was flakey and perfectly crisped. I'm now going to nap Zzz

Yelp
Been here a few times now. After tonight, I don't know if I'd return. We stopped at Lisa's before catching a show. We had about an hour and a half to kill and we figured we had plenty of time. Boy was I wrong. We didn't get menus for 20 minutes, our salads didn't come for 30 minutes. And at the 45 minute mark when our appetizer still hadn't come, we started to get a little worried. The waiter came back to tell us our appetizer was almost ready and we asked him how much longer we should expect to wait as we didn't have a lot of time. And he responded with what was perhaps the rudest thing a waiter has ever said to me, "You know - I've worked here a long time and I'm not used to people being so impatient." He then went on to rant about how there's only 4 people in the kitchen and this is a "family" business blah blah blah. Meanwhile, I look around the restaurant and there are only 5 other tables seated and maybe one or two people came in for carry out. From there, I think he recognized he had crossed a line and offered to comp our appetizer and offered us a free drink. However, after 1 hour 15 minutes, our pizza finally came and we had to box it up and take it to go as we had run out of time. Look, I understand restaurants are a bit slower post Covid with the staffing shortage. But waiting an hour+ for a pizza seemed a little excessive and when we simply asked how long it would be for our food to come out, we would have appreciated a little less attitude. Still give them 3 stars as the food that we were able to eat was pretty tasty.

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Very slow delivery & not great pizza. delivery took an hour and 20 minutes & pizza arrived cold. Just a hard pass for me.

Dane J.

Yelp
All I can say is very disappointed. I ordered a pizza and the toppings were very skimmpy. There were only 2 other people in the the restaurant. Slow service and pizza was barely warm. Will not be going back there. Too many other pizza places that are way better.
google avatar

Melissa B.

Yelp
Really happy we found our way to this spot last night. It's cozy but not crowded. Good wine and beer selections! The pizza is definitely where it's at. The atmosphere was like an Italian hug. (And I'm 50% by heritage.) Next t

Yelp
We used to go to Lisa's all the time pre-COVID, tonight was our first time back since the new ownership. We were really excited to go back after reading that the new owners kept the pizza recipe from the previous owners. It was always a favorite. Unfortunately, if that is the same recipe, the new chef is not up to the challenge. The garlic bread was quite good - different from the past - but very good! Pizza - it was just okay at best. Very sparse toppings and, the biggest issue, a very soggy, under-cooked crust. I literally could not pick up a piece of pizza, the crust was that soggy. It just fell apart in my hands. The staff was very nice and attentive, but the food is just okay...nothing more. Really disappointed! I truly hope the new owners can make a go of it...but I doubt that we will be going back anytime soon.

Yelp
Amazing pizza! Like the pizza here is obnoxiously good! If you like thin crust pizza and wondering what pizza to get, LOOK NO FURTHER! Here are some bullet points on why this is the pizza joint. 1. The Crust: Thin and brilliantly crispy 2. The Sauce: Not too much not too little honestly perfect 3. The Cheese: YES 4. The Meat: Magnifico! 5. Overall Flavor: An explosion Now is this the best pizza I've ever had?..... No, but it is very very good and definitely a top 5 contender. All I can say there is no going wrong if you decide to get pizza here. I did order takeout so don't know how well they're social distancing, but when I walked in it looked like they were social distancing well. So yes get the pizza here!
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Ordered delivery, an extra large "special" for three hungry guys. Placed order at 7:33 pm by phone with debit card including tip. Unfortunately pizza delivery arrived at 10:12 pm. By then, pizza was lopsided and cold. Spoke to management and they were fantastic. We got together the next night and ordered the same pizza. Everything was exceptional. They even use fresh grated Parm not fake parm. Delivery driver was on time, pizza was hot and intact. Love their sauce and fresh mushrooms. It is exceptional for pizza sauce and produce. Will order again. Thanks Lisa's! Brought back memories o eating Lisa's pizza after playing Friday night high school football

Yelp
Hello, this is Dominic the food reviewer. Yesterday I reviewed a restaurant called Lisa's Pizzaria Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge. It is located on 2961 N. Oakland Ave in Milwaukee WI. What I thought was cool about the decor was that they had Christmas lights and old clocks inside. I thought our waitress was nice and kind to us. I shared a thin crust pizza with my mom. On my half of the pizza I got ground beef, black olives, and tomatoes. It was a really good thin crust pizza with sweet Italian sauce and it tasted fresh. My dad got their spaghetti & meatballs and tomato sauce. My dad liked the angel hair pasta and the meatballs. He thought it was delicious. My mom just got the sausage on her half of the pizza. She thought her pizza was very good and liked the sweet tasting sauce as well. If you like thin crust pizza this restaurant is worth trying. Thank you for reading my review today.

Yelp
Best pizza in town!!!!! Simply delicious!!!!! Great sauce!! Thin crust!! Ohhhh. It's. Soooo Goood!!!
google avatar

Jacque B.

Yelp
Good pizza... thin and crispy with a good amount of sauce. They use fresh mushrooms and fennel in the sausage. I loved the cheesy garlic bread. The bread is phenomenal! I went on Saturday night and no problem with getting a table and great service. I will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
A friend reminded me about this place when I was craving pizza. I was thinking old-school, not too trendy or crazy with the topping combinations. It was after work, so I was also thinking close to home if possible. Lisa's hit the spot. The interior is quiet and even kind of subdued. There were quite a few couples and small groups enjoying their private conversations both times I've been. I've gotten a small pizza and eaten it by myself before. It's about the right amount for one hungry person. But this time I took the advice of other reviewers and got a large (veggie) and just took some home. Pizza keeps well, and this is the kind of thin-but-not-too-thin crust pizza that seems to make especially good leftovers. I said there weren't too many crazy topping combinations, but Lisa's does offer some offbeat toppings like tuna, shrimp, and broccoli. Most of the pizza offerings are single toppings or basic combos but others are available as add ons. It's not necessary to get too complex. But I did try a tuna pizza once. It's better than it sounds. Other dishes sound good also. Most of the other diners on my visits have stuck to pizza.

Kathy R.

Yelp
Thank you Lisa's for a great meal tonight! Awesome appetizers, salads, pizza & desserts. We were stuffed before heading to the Brewers game tonight. We appreciated the wonderful hospitality & conversation too. PS MKE - Lisa's is currently in the top 5 for "Best Of Milwaukee County" Pizza category via MJS. Voting is open for a few more days.

Yelp
Stopped in with my brothers last night. What a treat for us to revisit after 30 + years. Food was just as good as we remembered. Service was great. At one point it was just us and 2 of the wives. (NCAA final four was on) so pretty empty. We were able to chat with the 2 servers and the owner. I did notice a lot of take out business, to me that's always a good sign. I know we will be back. Had a great time and great food.

Miles W.

Yelp
Best pizza in Milwaukee. Cracker crust, great sauce and toppings! Have been going here for 15 years and have never had a bad meal.

Christine H.

Yelp
The pizza was excellent! We ordered Hannah's Favorite, The Pesto Veggie, The Super, and the Detroit infused with Pabst Blue Ribbon beer! The crust was crispy and the flavor combinations-super tasty. Service was excellent! Make sure you leave room for dessert! Tiramisu and Chocolate Cake are homemade by the new owner!

Bri W.

Yelp
So happy to hear Lisa's reopened! Gave it a shot with the new owners and I'm really pleased much of the menu from the Bongiorno family is being carried on. Such a staple in our community.

Andrew W.

Yelp
Best ever. Not even close. Hope new ownership keeps it up and doesn't change a thing

Mike G.

Yelp
Under new ownership but still top notch pizza. Brighter and warmer inside than before. Mini donuts for desert to die for.

Al J.

Yelp
Lisa's pizzeria has been one of my favorites since the late 1980s. I had a chance to go there again this past weekend and my expectations were not disappointed. I love there thin crust pizza with a wonderful tangy sauce. The service is always been warm and friendly with a small cozy atmosphere of their dining room.
