Gillioz Theatre

What a beautiful venue for a wedding. The place is gorgeous without decorations. The staff was so helpful and kind. Parking is on the street so arrive a bit early.

My first time at this venue and I was little concerned about how the concert would sound because of the size of the auditorium but it was awesome!

Small venue, small seats, but enjoyable with a lot of history. BUT I LOVED THE SHOW ITSELF. STEVE-O FOREVER

Had a wonderful experience! Building is historic; so, not fully ADA compliant. That said, it is wheelchair accessible. Staff were friendly and helpful. Safe and secure environment. Springfield Police were professional and classy in their presence at the theater. Temperature, lighting, and volume were pleasant. Happy with the views (I was told by a regular patron "There is not a bad seat in the house") and Happy with the comfort of the seats. * the missing 5th star: During a 2 hour ballet, the single female restroom, (6 stalls, blowers, no papertowels) went from clean to a lack-of-care situation with pools of water on the floors (through the toilet areas to the sink areas, and the spaces between.)

The Gillioz Theatre was the perfect home for Hospice Foundation for Outreach’ first-ever fundraiser, the Soft Surrender Red Carpet Event. As Executive Director, I could not have been more impressed. From the moment we booked the space, the Gillioz team supported us with genuine hospitality, professionalism, and attention to detail. The theatre’s historic charm and beauty elevated the entire night — from the red carpet arrival to the film premiere and community celebration. Our guests (over 500 attendees) repeatedly commented on how stunning and comfortable the venue was. The acoustics, lighting, and overall ambience created the exact warm, meaningful experience we hoped for. We are deeply grateful to the Gillioz for helping us launch this milestone event and shine light on hospice and end-of-life care in our region. I have been going to big name concerts and and small venue concerts since the 70’s and tonight I saw and heard the best concert of my life. Thank you Gillioz Theatre and Bela Fleck trio. Awesome

Such a cute vintage theater. We decided to sit in the balcony area since we wanted to see everything at the Christmas Nutcracker performance. The seating is quite tight, many people weren't expecting it to be that tight I guess and weren't happy about it but it's an old theater so it is what it is. The line to the bar is a bit confusing. They have alcoholic beverages and nonalcoholic. Loved the popcorn in a box, was easy to carry. The performance was great, lots of great dancers and beautiful costumes.

Beautiful venue- confusing bar lines. This venue is absolutely gorgeous, so easy to access and close to many bars and restaurants. I love the details in the design and the staff was incredibly friendly. I will not lower the stars for this, more of offer a recommendation- please add clear signs for the bar / concession options. The one directly to the left was a member exclusive that wasn't clear until you're about to order. The one to the right through the doors had perfect signs and guidance but there was an additional bar line to the left that was hidden by the wall. I just think a line above that turn or by the doorway indicating there's two options will cut down a lot of chaos. Other than that, everything is perfect!

I attended the Cheap Truck show yesterday. One of my favorite bands. I don't know who ran the sound check, but the acoustics really suck. Also, the major issue has to do with courtesy and house keeping. The moment the show started, everyone stood blocking my view of the stage. I of course stand because I wanted to see as well as hear. This continued for the entire show. I could not physically stand without resting my feet and ankles periodically, and missing half of the show. I will not attend anything at the Gillioz again. Maybe if the staff would make an effort to announce a message to remain seated, it would have been a better experience.

Do not get tickets in the balcony! I repeat, do not get tickets in the balcony. The seats are sooo close together. If you are more than 5 ft tall, your knees are up to you chin. The people in front of us kept going back and forth in their seats and hitting us in the knees. We did not even stay for the whole show. Disappointing!

Very versatile place. We have came here for Bob and Tom show comedians including Donny Baker, the Mystery Hour and a touring comedian tonight. Beautiful on the inside with a balcony and orchestra seating.

What a great old theatre that has been restored to a showpiece. This is our second show here tonight seeing Toto and when on the main floor, there are no bad seats. The seats are graded nicely for an easy view of the stage and also lots of leg room. The balcony is a life different and if you have long legs or are a bigger guy, the balcony seats can be murderously leg confining. It mentions that on their web site. The acoustics are great wherever seated as well. We always park in a parking garage close and never have parking issues. All in all a beautiful setting for a show.

I haven't been in the balcony, but I have been floor level for several events. This is a very cool space that is intimate, but gives a grand feel. Came here for an Awolnation concert that was rockin' and The Mystery Hour, which was hilarious. Will be attending a wedding in the upstairs portion this fall, but that space seems modern and spacey. You can even get your name on the marquee for such events! Worth it.

Attended the Chris Isaak show this weekend, and while he was incredible, the staff at the Gillioz left a lot to be desired. My date and I were towards the back of the theater on the lower level enjoying the show, singing a little, laughing and talking only to have a security guard approach us and ask us to stop talking! That is correct, at a concert we were told to stop talking! She was completely rude and disrespectful. I would understand if we were at a play or something along those lines, but we were at a music concert! Will look to spend my money elsewhere in the future.

What a beautiful venue for seeing a show! I've been here for rock and jazz concerts, and a couple of comedy shows. I have enjoyed them all, and this is my favorite place to see a show in Springfield. The owners have spent a lot of money restoring this place, and it shows! The architecture is really pretty. Don't forget to look up and take it all in. I highly recommend this venue for any show you may be interested in.

This venue has been solid for every event I have attended. It is large enough to cater to a decent crowd but also intimate enough to feel like a smaller club. It is a historical building but always is comfortable in this venue. When they have bands you can get close to the stage to really enjoy. Also, their tickets are reasonable. They do have a bar and it is expensive but this is a huge place and they have to pay their bills. If you want an easter egg, there is a strange baby doll in the balcony just right of the stage. You should be able to see it when the lights are on. Kinda creepy!

I recently visited for the first time to see Weird Al Yankovic's Ill-Advised Vanity Tour. Gillioz came highly recommended from friends and definitely lived up to the raves. Great historic venue with an intimate size, along the lines of a school auditorium but I mean that in the best way. Very nice lighting and sound system, wasn't too loud but still very clear audio for the wide range of music styles and stand-up routine from Emo Philips. We had no problems at all getting to the venue, navigating security, or locating our orchestra seats. I'd definitely come back for other shows at this theatre!

I thought I had written a review, but I guess I didn't. I only mention this because I went to John Mulaney a few months back. They were very nice and responsive when I told them I had misplaced my tickets. They gave me replacement ones when I came tot he show.

The Gillioz is a great venue to take in any show that they have going on. The newly renovated venue is gorgeous and it had great acoustics for the concerts that they have there. I highly recommend visiting Gillioz Theatre for any kind of show! The staff is great and the it's a great environment!

Gillioz has done a nice job in the past few years attracting top national talent. Only criticism I have is the seating in the balcony. Virtually no leg room for anyone 6' or taller. Very uncomfortable.

Don't waste your time reading bad reviews, this is the place! If you're a fan of character, anyway. I enjoy myself every time I come here. Small, historic theaters beat out new, sterile ones any day, in my book. Plus, they bring quality entertainment in all year long. Way to go, Gillioz!

Back in 2-7-2014 I came here to see pentatonix, best day EVER....but the theatre is so elegant and such a rich atmosphere....id enjoy just walking around looking at the sculpture and architecture there.

2 words! No Bar... crap concessions. No organization for entry or patron info and worst of all sound was poor! For the bands they have coming, they better get it together! As a seasoned patron and a venue employee definitely not recommending this as good road trip from STL... go to KANSAS CITY

Great venue. Previous reviewers probably need to stick to wehrenberg cinemas. Some GREAT shows. This is my srcond time here in 7 days n coming back for Drew Carey next week.

Don't waste your money buying good seats at this place. They'll just let everyone stand in the aisles and up front so that you can't see. Best view is easily the balcony.

After standing in a line all the way to the fountain on the square for 'security', I will not be returning. If this is your policy, have the decency to alert your patrons ahead of time. Otherwise, close your doors. I would assume I'm not the only one that's spent their 35 plus minutes in line expressing our dissatisfaction via social media. Juanita K - here we come.

My brother and I went to the Gillioz on 5/19/12 and out of the many shows I have been to this was by far the worst. All of the staff was rude and unprofessional from the lady working concessions to the security guard who was cursing at guest to leave the auditorium after they had made an announcement on stage to stay for pictures. Even a manager was very unfriendly and not caring of the situation. I will never see another show at this theater and I recommend no one else do so unless they want to be disappointed.

The sound quality and act that are brought in are amazing. The staff is very friendly and will always do their best to help you in any way they can. Highly recommend this place.

We went to the Gillioz Theatre last weekend. We had a horrible experience because my husband ended up in a folding chair out in the aisle. The Theatre had added quite a few folding chairs in all areas. We talked with Kyle, the manager, and he said they were in place of some chairs that were being repaired. Well that was a lie because the chair on the other side of the aisle was the same number as the folding chair. Were they just trying to make more money by selling more tickets? I don't know if they always do this, but isn't this a fire hazard? We will not be going back.
