21 Must-Try Pizza Places in Montreal

"Moleskine's more formal upstairs section (headed by chef Frédéric St-Aubin) has charmed many in town, but the offering in the more casual downstairs set-up — particularly the pizza — is just as lovable. Wood-fired, blistered crusts mix crunchiness and tenderness, and toppings oscillate between classic and inventive (see: the mornay pie). The pizzeria also runs a popular food counter at Time Out Market, for those looking for a cheesy bite in the downtown core." - Joel Balsam, Valerie Silva, Eater Staff

Where to Eat Near Place des Arts - Eater Montreal

"Neapolitan-style pizza is the focus at this Parc Avenue mainstay, with a selection of 10 different pies available at all times, including a rotating pizza of the day. A second location opened in the Time Out Market in late 2019." - Daniel Bromberg, Mallory Frayn

"A 2016 addition to Montréal's dining scene, Moleskine is, arguably, three restaurants. There's a takeout window selling meals to go and ice cream, a casual downstairs restaurant serving sandwiches, salads, and both coffee and beer on tap, and a gourmet dining room on the second floor. The industrial-chic decor with chain-metal curtains and mismatched chairs around communal tables has helped make it one of the city's trendiest restaurants. The food is more fun and festive than fussy: Crudos, creative salads, and pizzas from the wood-fired oven are all recommended. Moleskine is from the same team behind the popular Pullman wine bar, right next door."

The Best Restaurants at MTL à Table 2018 - Eater Montreal

"Frédéric St-Aubin serves some of Montreal’s finest Italian at this double-level resto on the edge of the Plateau — for MTL à Table, the more formal upper level is in play for $43, with roasted duck on polenta or octopus-calamari-n’duja cavatelli, and creative crudos to start." - Tim Forster

Google
Tiamo was disappointing. The atmosphere and food were actually quite nice. It has a very chic, elegant vibe when you walk in. The reason why I'd give it 2 stars, though, was because of two things. One, the portion sized were just way too small for the price that I was paying. And two, the service was absolutely terrible. After ordering an appetizer and a main, I expected to be quite full. But I was actually still hungry. This, to me, indicates that the portion sizes were just not that large. The service seemed okay at the beginning. Gave recommendations and took our orders fine. But by the end of the meal, everyone only had one glass of water. A small group came in, too, and was waiting to be seated only to look around and find nobody. No one was there to seat them, nor to give us water. Overall, I won't be coming back. I expect to be treated better for that price.

The atmosphere here is undeniable. It is a hidden gem in this area. The food overall was great. The beet carpaccio was a pleasant surprise. My flank steak was a little too salty for my liking, and I was left to eat it with a butter knife. The server didn't come back during the meal to ask if we needed anything and we couldn't get their attention since the place was a little busy. Overall a great experience that can only improve with a little more attention to the patrons.

Google
Tiamo is a great choice if you’re craving well-prepared Italian cuisine, especially wood-fired pizzas and classic pastas, in a warm, chic atmosphere. Perfect for date nights, family dinners, or weekend brunch. For larger groups, consider booking in advance and be aware of plate size expectations. ⸻ 🔧 Tips Before You Go • Book in advance, especially for dinner; brunch is walk-in only. • Go for the pizzas, which are freshly fried daily. • Some dishes may be standard sized for the price – sharing is smart. • Check out their extensive wine list and cocktail menu at the bar.

Google
We hesitated a bit about this restaurant because of the 4.2 rating… but, ultimately, decided to give it a try because it was more conveniently located than another we considered. The atmosphere is a bit younger than is suitable for us, being, on average, over 60. There was a DJ. I think that covers it. But the service was excellent, and the food was exceptional. Maybe Montreal has a biased scale, being a cosmopolitan city. I'm just from Boulder, Colorado, a place previously considered to be "foodie." We sat at the bar. Sort of like a chef's table. It was fun watching the young fellow making the pizzas and managing them in the wood-fired pizza oven. I had a Tiamo salad, the sausage rigatoni, and a chocolate mousse. All were delicious. The salad was larger than I expected; the rigatoni perhaps a bit smaller, but really just the right size; and the mousse was fantastic! It was light and wonderful. I hope I can sleep after that. You should try this place. Don't be fooled by the 4.2. Also, the total expense included a couple drinks (each) and a bottle of wine, in case you're looking at the budget.

Google
Booked a reservation and they are fairly accommodating to our group of 7 with dining upstairs and down stairs. Very aesthetic and cute for photos (lots of mirrors). There is loud music but the playlist was good. Cocktails and wines good, well priced as well. 3 courses and cocktails won’t run you up a ridiculous amount. -Food- Appetizers: Meatballs are a little dry but seasoned very nicely and have a good taste, octopus very forgettable Mains: The rosé rigatoni and sausage was one of the best options, good sauce but not a lot of sausage. Ragu veal pasta good but nothing extremely wow. Duck linguine had a fake bacon taste. Will not be coming back for the pastas. All dishes came out pipping hot!!! Deserts: DELICIOUS and the best part of our experience. Even if you don’t traditionally like chocolate mousse, like me, i still suggest giving this one a try. The chef creates a decadent twist to this desert and it was AMAZING. The tiramisu creme was so delicious. At the time of our visit, the desert of the day was cheesecake. Super creamy and light, maybe just missing a couli. -Service- The food runners seemed very young and confused, not dressed well, and basically slammed the plates on the table. Water was very scarce and wasn’t refilled. Old plates stayed on the table even if second courses had come. Wine glasses weren’t very shiny and unused ones weren’t cleared from the table even if we didn’t have much space. Minimal knowledge of the menu. We were not informed of any last calls for the bar and couldn’t order more. They were definitely pushing for us to pay quickly and leave even if we hadn’t ordered desert yet. The waiter was still sweet all things considered.

Google
The food was bang on! 🤩 The Valentine’s menu was prepared with a lot of thought put in by the chef. The ambience was great with dim lights. The service could have been better. We had to wait around 30mins before we could be seated even after a reservation & arriving before time. Moreover, the music played could been turned down as it made it a bit difficult to listening to the person sitting across the table. Overall the experience was superb. Recommend to try out the food @Tiamo❤️

Google
It was a snowy night outside but inside a brick oven had the place so warm, the wine went perfectly with the pasta dishes and the salads and yes the pizza were just perfect. The magical carrot cake was such a surprise!

Google
I didn’t get her name but the trilingual server made our experience unforgettably awesome! The Rib eye pizza and cocktails were amazing - what a great place to celebrate my wife’s birthday.

Yelp
What a great place! Setting is very modern, and they are relatively new- open for 1 year! Don't sleep on this place! Great Italian food! We ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese, Florentine medaglioni, Margarita pizza, and the TiAmo salad. We also got the tiramisu, mango cheesecake, and the cannoli's for dessert. Our waiter Santiago was phenomenal! Great attention and really knew his recommendations, as the few things he mentioned ended up being some of the main things he suggested. The Florentine was what I got and it was SO creamy and rich. It came with probably 7/8 pastas. The sauce was something I will probably try to recreate at home (and probably not even come close to how good it was! lol) Atmosphere was elegant, modern, and they played light and fun house music. It's 2 levels and the upstairs does have a bathroom. They take reservations online and there is metered street parking nearby! If ever in Montreal again, this will be a top contender to come back to!

Yelp
We went to this restaurant for dinner on our first night in Montreal. The restaurant was very cute in terms of appearance. Lots of greenery and cute decor. The size of the establishment seemed to be a relatively good size. They did have enough seating to host our party of 7 (including a baby). The service pretty good and the food did come out pretty fast. Our server was nice and he did speak English. I got the margarita pizza and the fettuccine alfredo. The pizza was cooked perfectly. Super cheesy.the fettuccine Alfredo was just as good. There was chicken i. The pasta as well. The food was hot and the wait was not long at all. No complaints. I would definitely recommend this location.

Yelp
Wonderful evening at Tiamo. Evening started with a 5 minute delay to to a mix up with tables. Manager came over and was extremely apologetic and when we were finally seated, she brought over a complimentary bottle of champagne. Restaurant is trendy, cool and beautiful with good music playing in the back. Our server Hans was a gent! Friendly, knowledgeable, professional and made great recommendations from the Grilled Pieuvre (octopus) to the Burrata Pizza (highlight of the evening), Linguini Con Gamberri. Also had the Poplette (just average) and the Rigatoni Tiamo (yum!). Dessert were some amazing cannolis and a dreamy tiramisu.

Yelp
We were glad to find this place open as their website said they wouldn't be open for another couple of days. It turns out this was a "soft opening" but we wouldn't have known because everything turned out really well. The salmon was cooked perfectly, as were the lamb chops. Good mix of vegetables as well to accompany the protein. We had the chocolate mousse for dessert, which was fantastic. The ambiance is chic, and fortunately the music is not too loud! The servers were very attentive and friendly and were easy to make pleasant conversation with. Prices were on the higher side for this neighborhood but still very worth it for the quality of the food and service.

Yelp
A promising new wood-fired-oven pizza restaurant in downtown Montreal. It's not open yet; I look forward to visiting when they finally open their doors.

Yelp
literally the most awesome place ever. went on a super busy saturday night and the staff was kind enough to squeeze us in and seat us. the entire ambiance was super trendy and cool, drinks were great, and the food was even better. highly recommend the pizza, meatballs, rigatoni tiamo, Cavatelli al ragu, and fettuccine alfredo. definitely a highlight of our weekend trip to montreal, we all keep talking about how great it was!

Yelp
Pire restaurant . On a reserver pour 15 personne a 9:30 pour un surprise party. Il etait rendu 11 et la table etait meme pas prete. Service de merde. Les gerant savent rien gerer. Eviter ce restaurant.

Yelp
The food quality was very inconsistent. We ordered one drink for $18 and was unbalanced and overly sweet despite being the "least sweet" on the menu. The cavatelli with wild mushroom and meat ragú was an excellent flavor but overcooked pasta. The Caesar salad was good except for an inferior quality Parmesan cheese that had a plastic texture and no flavor. Service was attentive and good. Quality of food is not aligned with their prices.
