Nevertheless Julie (the owner) knows every single customer by name, treats you like family, and always ensures you're well taken care of. It's more than just amazing food it's a whole experience. You walk in as a customer and leave feeling like you just had a home cooked meal. If you haven't been yet, you're truly missing out.

Another gem in West Palm Beach! Excellent panang curry! It was rich and flavorful! Something that is a welcome change from these other places that like to water down their food. Also the pad thai was delicious and well portioned! Also Julie was very sweet and a great host!

We ordered four dishes and the total came out to $135, which is unbelievably overpriced for a place like this. The food was nowhere near worth the cost, and the restaurant itself doesn’t match the prices they’re charging. After reading a glowing review in the Palm Beach Post, I was inspired to give this place a try for lunch. The takeaway on my takeaway is meh and feel ripped off. The first impression of the business is that the space feels unsanitary. The woman was preparing salad and vegetables while sitting in a chair behind the desk. My mind was telling me to turn around and walk out the door. But sometimes, it's the grittiest of places where one gets the true cultural flavors. I was willing to take the adventure - big mistake. No prices were posted. She wrote down my order and turned to tell me it would be $32. I should have balked. I only ordered Tom Ga Kai and Beef Salad! Outrageous! I'm not sure if this was the real price or was made up on the spot. I should have followed my gut and taken my money elsewhere. I regret I did not. The beef salad was very good - not exceptional - but very good. The soup was thick like paste and did not have the tanginess and spice I expect in chicken coconut soup. Tom Ga Kai is one of my favorite dishes, so this was especially disappointing. She didn't even give me a napkin, but put a piece of paper towel from a roll in my plastic bag. I don't know what all the fuss is about this business. I won't be going back.

I'm really torn here, because I went for the second time in a week to get Tom Kha chicken soup, and yet I'm giving them only three stars. The Palm Beach Post had a blurb last week about this place, and the reviewer said she got very good Pad Thai with roast duck, and that she and the owner had discussed price and agreed on $22. That's pretty fair for duck, so I thought the place must be relatively inexpensive, especially as it's in one of those ugly plazas. The second mention in the newspaper article was that the Dave Matthew's band members had eaten there, taken a photo, and raved about it, so I decided I had to go. Just before starting this review, I read another review posted by a yelper a mere 23 hours ago, and among his multiple negatives, the lack of charm was mentioned early on. It's not even slightly cute or welcoming -- no effort has been made to be visually appealing. Ok, so that's ok if the food is spectacular. The board with the menu items does NOT have any prices, and thats not cool. I mean, who doesn't want to know how much she's spending? The yelp review I just read said he left in shock after a $93 (or $96?) bill. He couldn't believe the special of the day, mango sticky rice, was $14. Well guess what? I asked how much it was as they have it out on the counter and I was going to get one, and then I cancelled that order immediately. Are you kidding me? Everyone in my neighborhood is begging people to take mangos -- they are all over the place for free! Why a small portion of white rice (so inexpensive it's used to feed impoverished countries) and mango would cost $14 is anyone's guess. I live near Malakor Thai, a beloved gem of a place in Northwood. If I could afford to eat there more often, I surely would. I was so surprised to find this market charges significantly more ($6 more!) for Tom Kha soup, served in the same size container. (Had I gotten a large, she was going to charge me $22)! I mean, I just think they have a lot of chutzpah. It is possible, as the other reviewer stated, that they may well size you up before naming a price. I don't know. Back to the soup -- at first I didn't even like it much as it was so different from Malakor's. It's much less flavorful and less sweet, but it grew on me when the leftover soup a day later was delicious, and so I got more today, along with fresh spring rolls. I practically emptied my bank account -- good thing I bypassed the sticky rice (today's special just as it was last week's). I wanted so much to love it and to love the owners. It's not nice to leave off prices on a menu, and people just don't expect to be charged an arm and a leg in that less-than-enticing atmosphere.

It looks like no one has spent a dollar on a lick of paint (or cleaning supplies) at this place in the last twenty years. A pawn shop has far more ambiance and charm than what was before us as we walked in past the iron security door and on into Oriental Food Market. Behind the counter sits Julie, the owner, who sizes up her prey as you walk through the door. There are no prices on the menu. We assumed that with how spectacularly run down this place was, that you didn't have to worry about that - spoiler alert - ya do!! I went to pull out a stool to sit while we reviewed the no-price-listed menu and yup, my fingers stuck to the seat as I let go. The counter had small stains where an earlier order had been taken away. Undeterred, we ordered a portion of fresh rolls - like a normal Thai roll, but without including any basil, shrimp or other meats, just veggies and noodles. My wife ordered the Panang Curry with chicken and when we got it home, we found it was actually very good with a heady perfume, colorful fresh veggies and a nice level of spice. This is the reason for the second star, as it was quite good. I ordered the Pad Thai, a grey dish of noodles and mildly beige chicken with a lot of peanuts and anemic flavor. Even the fresh lime couldn't provide any CPR for this dead dish. We saw they had written on a sign by the register that they had mango sticky rice. It is my Mom's favorite, so we ordered three of those. One appetizer/two entrees and three desserts ordered from a dismal, dirty, depressing counter. Guess what Julie sized us up to have to pay for it? $93.00 What? Huh? How? She slyly said, "You ordered three mango sticky rice. It's $14. Mango costs five dollars each to buy." Mangos are four for five dollars at Publix - I saw them last night. Julie sure isn't buying them there, for after decades in this location, she surely knows mangos are in season and must have a few trees she gets them from for free. But you wouldn't know that to look at her, she puts on this face like a car salesman when telling you he'd love to help, but it's his manager that won't go along. Needless to say, we won't be back and we will tell all our friends what a profound mismatch of setting versus price this place represents. We could have eaten something really good in Palm Beach for $93 - Oriental Food Market is an abomination - stay clear!!!

Great authentic thai food! This place is a hidden gem. Everything I ordered was great and the lady who takes the orders is a sweet heart. This was my first time in and I will definitely be back! Highly recommend for anyone carving authentic Thai.

My friend bought a small bag of ginger candies and a small box of tea. She asked if she could pay with a debit card. The response: There is a $10 minimum here to use debit card. $25 minimum to use credit card. The ginger candy and small box of tea came out to around $8. So, we added a can of grass jelly to reach the $10 minimum. My friend's question about what grass jelly tasted like seemed to disturb the cashier who gave a short, unhelpful reply. Our total came out to $14.95? How did the grass jelly add almost $7 more dollars to the total? Later, when I got home, I noticed the can of grass jelly's expiration date was 2016, canned in 2013! I went back to return it. She said the can was only $2.50. She would only give store credit. I know she charged us more but I can't prove it. The receipt is not itemized. Disappointment with the lack of transparency, low ethics. Make sure to get the price of everything and check expiration dates, quality of packages if you decide to buy.

Julie & Sam have been turning out the best Thai food in WPB for over thirty years. I'm now spoiled and can't eat Thai food anywhere else. Try it once and you will be, too.

If you want phenomenal Thai food please give this place a try! The restaurant is very casual and is in a store so it's a perfect place to shop for Thai goods while you wait for your tasty Thai food. The owner is wonderful and very helpful, she gave great recommendations on what to order and we were not disappointed. The roasted duck was so flavorful and sweet, the pad Thai was delicious and the massaman curry was perfectly balanced. If you like mango the mago sticky rice was out of this world!! You could tell it was freshly made and the mango was perfectly sweet and paired perfectly with the coconut in the sticky rice. Also if you like spicy definitely ask for some of the hot sauce, perfect balance of vinegar and spice.

I first attempted to try Oriental Market a couple weeks ago after reading the (mostly older) positive reviews. I got there around 7:30 and the door was locked, though there were people inside. Nobody attempted to let me in despite the fact they were still open according to their posted hours :( I came back again on a Saturday, only to realize they were closed. They have a hand written sign in the window that says their hours are 11 to 8 mon-fri and that they're closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Fine. I came back again on a Tuesday evening at about 7. I was the only person there and was barely acknowledged by the lady who was sitting in the back and preoccupied with her phone or tablet. I checked out their menu written on a whiteboard in the front and ordered panang curry with beef for takeout. A few minutes later my food came out, and was charged $12 even though their takeout menu says $11. The takeout menu , which they still have available in the shop, also still has the hours as 11 to 8:30 mon to Friday. Time to update this guys. Also noticed open bags of flower sitting on a bottom shelf in the shop. As far as the curry went, the green peppers were pretty undercooked and still "crunchy". The beef was cooked completely but had kind of an odd taste to it, maybe sat too long. I had requested extra hot for the spice level; it was only so-so though. There was a little container of hot sauce on the side that helped spicen things up a bit. Overall I Agree with Steve F, disappointing experience with this place.

Waaay overpriced! The coconut chicken soup was gross, mealy thick no flavor. Could not taste any coconut or ginger or lemongrass, no fresh vegetables only mushrooms and mushy onions, not fresh! Over 30$ for 2 soups and 2 spring rolls. The lady was a real smart Alec... never again!

Writing another review to counter-act their recent one star review because that is nonsense. This is THE BEST Thai food in the area by far and the owner has a great, slightly snarky personality that apparently some people can't handle likely because they expect the entire planet to kiss their a** at every turn. Do not pay attention to those miserable turds, this place is amazing and has been around forever for a very good reason!!

One of the best places to get Thai food. Dont expect anything fancy when you visit. If you eat in, there are a couple of tables and one is a family style. Julie is the owner and puts up with no nonsense, in a cheeky way. The green curry is my favorite and the pad Thai is scrumptious. We've been going here for almost years and still haven't found anything better.

I'm not sure that I ever knew the official name of Oriental Food Market until I decided to post this review. I've worked in the West Palm Beach area for almost eight years and my co-workers and I only have ever called this place 'Julie's,' a nod to the owner who, along with her husband, Sam, offer some of the best take-out Thai around. Nothing fancy, just simple, fresh and flavorful. What more could you ask for, right...??? I'm always a fan of a good pad Thai and Julie and Sam consistently make a great one. They have a really good green curry, too. Never been disappointed with the quality of any of the dishes that I've ordered. And Julie is a total sweetheart. She's a West Palm Beach icon. It's easy to see why she and her husband have had such a long history of success with their business. As others have mentioned, I think there is a very small counter or seating area inside, but it's really a take-out place. And that's fine. I will gladly pick-up and take-out a spicy pad Thai chicken from 'Julie's' any day.

The food is pretty good but definitely not cheap like the sign inside says. I really liked coming to this place as it had a nice hole in the wall vibe but the woman Julie who runs it is one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. Perhaps with a bit more class this establishment could flourish but until people learn to run their business with humility and kindness they will unfortunately fall short..

I stumbled upon this Place by accident. I went inside. I asked the owner if I could use the bathroom. She told me I had to pay first. I said okay, I'm going to make her smile. After a little chit-chat, she really warmed up to me. I got the kimchi here. It was very good. Maybe a little too spicy though. I also got some Thai food. I've never had Thai food before, except one time in Japan. I didn't know what to expect. It was absolutely delicious. I'm definitely going to eat here again.

I've never had thai and I mentioned this right when I called. I did a fair amount of googling to find their menu and prices. Nothing but a list.. no pricing. When I asked what the best noodle and rice dishes were, the lady replied " have you not looked at our menu?" I told her I have never had Thai food, there's no menu on the internet, (ill get one and post it) and any advice would be great-- she LAUGHED and said "it's Thai food." I'm beyond frustrated at this point.. I asked her for a the tom yung soup, pad Thai, and told her I wanted a curry dish and asked which one was most popular the green curry or masaman curry? She said "I already wrote down Green." I again asked what the difference was and she responded again "I already wrote down Green" She wouldn't give me a chance to change my order. I asked what the total was for a soup and two dishes and it's $35!!!??? Because of her attitude and such a high price I contemplated going elsewhere but family recommended it & I already had someone on the way to pick up the food. Bad customer service. I'll let u know if the food was any good.

I frequent all of the Thai digs in the West Palm Beach area, and this place is hands down the best. They have a few bar stools where you may eat in, which you may want to do because the owners are so nice to chat with. Otherwise, it's mainly a take out establishment and market that's been there for 26 years. They do accept debit/credit cards. Nothing fancy - just excellent, homemade Thai food.

The 5 stars is for owner Julie, who is really the best! Place is very basic Thai takeout place with authentic oriental food market. Food is always fresh and really good. Always feel better after a visit here.

I went here after reading the reviews. I was hoping for a little gem cuz it was a drive and I have been to Thailand and have had great Thai across the US. So I dont get it. This wasn't really good at all. Okay, the spring rolls were not horrid, but how hard is it to screw those up...by leaving out any protein...yes, theat is one way. The noodle dish I had was bland and I asked for authentic heat. 2 bites and it went in the trash. The noodles were not traditional to the dish, the ingredients are wrong. My biggest disappointment is the price. Nothing short of ridiculous. And the lady. She is kind of condescending and a know it all. So basically I am saying this place...yuk. Go to Malakor or Thai room.

I have been going here for years. It is authentic, simple and the owner Julie is a gem. She treats you like family. Regarding food, their Tom Yum Goong soup is nothing like I've ever had before. Packed with flavor and spices.. Great if you are catching a cold.
