Visited this park for the first time. What a beautiful well maintained and clean park. This is wonderful place to take a leisure stroll with different elevations among vast green grass and a water creek feature . City Parks have done a great job with designing and providing such a beautiful park!

Raghav A.

Google
Nice park with picnic tables and benches with beautiful views . There is something here for every age. Play structure and walking / biking / running paths. Safe area with a lot of people . The park is also very dog friendly.

I attended a Save the Kern River awareness walk. The walking/bike path is well maintained. The winding path snakes parallel to the Kern River. The path is relaxing. There are lots of plants and animals, and when there is water in the river, there are fish, water birds, and other animals. The other side of the walk path is extensive shopping centers. There are places to sit, benches, grassy areas, and playgrounds. This is a great place to be out in nature while still being in the city. The path is wheelchair accessible and can be a great family adventure. Come check out this fun walkway.

Beautiful park. You can charge your car and also your toddler can play.

Google
This park offers a nice open area to get outside and enjoy the weather on a good day. There are lots of paved paths and benches weaving through grass fields surrounding a little lake. There are grills and shaded areas for large groups. There's also a playground and bike paths.

Randy A.

Google
Great park! Very large for long walks or smooth bike rides. Be vigilant for the occasional creeps zombie'ing around and watch out for fast cyclists and zooming PEV's. During the summer time they play movies for the family ("movie at the park")

Jack D.

Google
A really nice well maintained park with many areas for spreading out so you're not crowded next to other people. The bike path took you around to the other lake and over the bridge to a park that has workout equipment. There's some great picture spots and we really enjoyed ourselves. Bring your bikes or scooters.

Yelp
Conveniently located on the bike path, The Park At River Walk offers a wide range of fun for everyone. I often see folks doing group There is plenty of open grass for multiple football, ultimate frisbee, or soccer games to be going on at the same time. I often see a folks enjoying the park in a full range of ways, from casual picnics to intense group workouts. As a community bedrock, River Walk hosts classic community events such as annual holiday fun runs, an Independence Day fireworks show, the annual fishing derby, and a very special flag presentation for Memorial Day. The park also features a great amphitheater which hosts concerts and community events regularly. When not in use, the seating section is open to the public and often utilized by local athletes for workouts. The park has 2 large lakes for fishing connected by a shallow river which runs through the park. There are often ice cream trucks as well as food carts with all the classic Southern California Mexican treats from elotes to fresh frutas preperadas. All around, it's always a great day for folks of all ages at River Walk!

Yelp
This will always be a very, very special place for me. Forever. Date nights by candle light at picnic tables. Picnic dinners with Panda Express. Frisbee. Leashed dog walks. Memorial Day, green space covered in patriotic flags. Ice cream trucks. The care taken of this place. Lots of parking. Ducks. I'm a huge fan of the sunsets here and Bakersfield is lucky to have this gem.

Yelp
Bakersfield Leaders have done a great job, of developing several acres of open space, including a large amphitheater for performing who are world renowned! About 5 years ago, we saw Mike Love and another musician who joined them way back, performing Beach Boy tunes from 50 years before, in a musical, multi-media, state of the art concert that even brought Dennis Wilson and other deceased members back to life.

Yelp
Beautiful Bakersfield Took the kids on down the "river walk" and let them run till it was bath time. I tell you what, if there was an award for nicest places in Bakersfield I think this might be top 5 and not 5. The ducks and geese were Super chill!!! Nobody got chased!!! Some of the people were a lil sketchy but it's a public park. I think my favorite part might have been the water fountains and the playground for the kids. Just like Chuck E. Cheese I'm sure I'll be back, like it or not.

Yelp
This is a really great park to take a walk at or have a picnic. The path is paved; the grass is very green; and we can walk around the nice lakes. There is plenty of benches and shades to take breaks at.

Yelp
This park is undoubtedly one of the best in Bakersfield, California. It is widely regarded as one of the safest and cleanest parks, making it an excellent choice for families looking to host events or for the city to organize community activities. Whether it's holiday celebrations, small concerts, Fourth of July fireworks, or Christmas festivities, this park can accommodate it all. You'll often see people walking, exercising, and walking their dogs. It's truly a great place to relax, enjoy a meal, or have a barbecue with family and friends. Most importantly, everyone here is simply enjoying their time together.
google avatar

Lori B.

Yelp
Love these walks at night. The beautiful skies. So peaceful and relaxing. Love taking pictures
google avatar

Marianne V.

Yelp
Had a lovely time walking our dog here! They have an ampitheatre, fountains, as well as toilets for public to use. x
google avatar

Krissy W.

Yelp
Great for walking whether leisurely or for exercise. It's adjacent to the bike path so there are occasional bikers on the paths around the small man made lake. During the day, relative safe. But would not recommend after dark visiting.

Samuel J.

Yelp
I had a blast here. Will definitely be coming back soon. There were plenty of places to sit, eat, and chill.
google avatar

Yelp
My kids and I think this is one of the best parks in town! The park is HUGE and offers lots of fun activities like fishing, duck watching, bike riding, and - of course - a play ground. They also have built in bbq's, gazebos, and plenty of shaded seating areas. The bathrooms are usually clean and well-stocked, but I have found that the condition deteriorates as the day goes on. I always bring my own flushable wipes, just in case. The bike path is laid out like a road with little painted lanes, which my kids really get a kick out of. This park hosts many events for the community to celebrate holidays, too. On the 4th of July, they have a huge, free firework show and on Memorial Day, they do a big event where they put out a TON of American flags. There is a shopping center just across the way with a Starbucks, Target, Subway, McDonalds, froyo, etc., which is super convenient if you are spending the day with littles! Knocking one star because the water is pretty icky, so you can't really swim or take out paddle boats or anything.

Yelp
I have gone to this part for probably 15 years. Unfortunately it's gotten really bad. So if you go realize that people will not have their dogs on leashes. That was the first problem I ever encountered and I have seen dogs attack other dogs and people. They're homeless people that are out there and I've seen them push people off their bikes.. The latest issue is that there are kids ranging from maybe 12 up to late teens early twenties. They run the park and it spills over to them being outside Target harassing people at Nordstrom Rack harassing people. Yesterday at the park I had literally 12-year-olds on scooters who wanted to harm the ducks and geese and I tried to intervene and they were harassing me so I left. They literally on their scooters followed me to my car and we're flipping me off and then follow me all the way to the light on stockdale. It is just not the same park that I used to go to. These kids just want to kill all the ducks and geese they harass people it's just a nightmare. I won't be going there anymore
google avatar

Yelp
Just a lovely park in the area. It's the perfect place for walking, running, cycling, hanging out, having a picnic, etc. Even though there are unhoused folks around, there are many more families and people getting a workout in so it feels pretty safe, even in the evening. The bathrooms near the playground however, do need TLC, especially on weekends when long lines form and bath tissue runs out! Overall, I enjoy coming here to exercise a couple of times per week.
google avatar

Christina C.

Yelp
Huge park, just beautiful. My grandkids loved feeding the ducks and taking pictures near the water. A lot of bbq pits with tables that were well kept. We will definitely be back to bbq when it warms up this Summer
google avatar

Dani R.

Yelp
Too many people just let their dogs poo everywhere and don't pick it up. People also don't know how to park.
google avatar

Yelp
River Walk park has been a staple park back when I resided in Bakersfield. We went back for the Water Lantern Festival and glad to see that there was some EV charging for the car! So while we had fun, the car was also charging :) There were lots of parking and nearby stores like Sephora, Target, Crumbl Cookies, etc. Very lovely park!

Yelp
The Park at River Walk is one of Bakersfield's largest and best parks for people of all ages. Located immediately behind a large shopping center full of popular department stores, the park seems to attract all kinds of visitors. Aside from the families with children playing on the play structures, there were lots of fishers, cyclists, stoners, etc. While there are two small "lakes" (by desert standards lol) in the park and a river behind the park, most of them were dry during the time of my most recent visit. There was enough water in the main "lake" for people to fish, and a little bit of water trickling under the bridges through the stream that connects the lakes. There are many, many lawns and picnic areas in the park, strewn across several small hills. I also noted an amphitheater, several cactus gardens, and a large baseball field, although I'm not entirely sure if that was part of this park, or an adjacent one. The Kern River Bike Trail is sandwiched between the back of the park and the Kern River, which, as I mentioned, was dry. The first time my cousin brought me here was actually specifically to show me the dry riverbed. There was a concrete bridge over it, connecting the park to the rest of the bike trail. On the concrete bridge, I noticed dozens, or maybe even a few hundred love locks, just like the ones at the UC Davis Arboretum. Also of interest were some olive trees planted on the bike trail along the back of the park. They were so small that I almost didn't even recognize them as olive trees, until I spotted some tiny purplish black fruits. My favorite thing I saw in the park were the Muscovy ducks. I had never seen or heard of one before, and thought that it was a deformed duck, or the descendant of a duck that had mated with a turkey, or something. After a few Google searches, I learned something new. Not gonna lie, I felt a little dumb when I read that they're Native to the Americas and are very common. Cool park. Plenty of space to walk around. Check it out.

Yelp
This park is getting 5 stars, but it's certainly not because of the beautiful River. April 2021, zero water in the River. but this is a beautiful green space with some nice picnic tables and public bathrooms. There are some swings for the kids, and for adults. Great place to have a family get-together.
google avatar

Yelp
This Park is one of the best things about Bakersfield. It is a nice, comfortable park adjacent to the Kern River Paved Bike Trail which stretches for miles and miles. Park in any of the large park lots to ride your bike on the trail. There are many restaurants (and stores) adjacent to the park of all price levels for food before or after your ride. Also in the parking lot are vendors selling water and all kinds of other crap. The park is located in what seemed to me to be a safe area of the city that I would feel comfortable at. Lot's of people walk dogs and bring their kids to play in the park I saw. Lovers like to lay out a blanket and roll around on the grassy noels. Next door to the park is Spectrum Stadium for outdoor concerts. I would return here to park and ride my bike on the paved trail.

Yelp
River walk is basically my backyard I love it so much you can walk, exercise, have romantic picnics, eat with family, have parties, bike trail, watch the sunset over the beautiful lake, walk your doggies, meet great people, host events, the amphitheater has concerts during the summer and watch movies!! It's truly the best park in all of bakersfield!!! I feel so blessed to have riverwalk as my backyard Also so many restaurants and shops walking distance!
google avatar

Yelp
Very nice spacious park with walking paths,a lake, geese and ducks, and clean bathrooms! Also near McDonald's and target if you didn't bring food.

Yelp
Very nice park. The park is in a great part of town and is kept very clean. The park has a nice playground for children. There is a huge lake with ducks and fish it is so cute. I also enjoy the walking areas. My dog loves going there early in the morning and walking around the entire area.
google avatar

Sandy L.

Yelp
Very nice and clean. All the shade trees make it super comfortable to enjoy a picnic, spending time with the family or just having some alone time. Watching the ducks and staring out to the lake it's very soothing and relaxing.

Yelp
This place is a real treasure. I kind of hate to post this because more people will visit here. I would rather keep it to just us. Really amazing that this place is here. After you park your car and start walking it is surprising how big the park is following the river.
google avatar

Tyler M.

Yelp
Tried to call number a few times, prerecorded message each time. Pretty good size red ant pile under the slide area, be aware with littles that they dont stick their hands in it.
google avatar

Jim B.

Yelp
Nice park - but it's a big lie! There's no river there. It looks like there might have been water there at one time - but not now. There are a couple of lakes at the park, which are very nice.
google avatar

Eli C.

Yelp
Nice and clean park. Only thing that's I had a issue with is the homeless. Be aware when walking around!
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
My family and I stopped here on our way down to Palm Springs. It's a great location and an awesome area take a breather. There's plenty of Wide Open Spaces to enjoy and it seems to be pretty dog friendly which our Pooch enjoyed. My only complaint is that the restrooms seemed a little run down and in need of some attention. To be fair though, most public restrooms in parks are that way. Ultimately, it was a positive experience and I definitely consider stopping here again on our way back through the area.
google avatar

JoJo B.

Yelp
My favorite park to hitch a ride on the bike path heading East or West, to walk the pup, run, take in the scenery; children playing, people enjoying life, etc! Great for picnics, parties, photo shoots, concerts, events, exercise, fishing, or just being appreciative of this life we've all been blessed with! Go out and see the beauty in everything!
google avatar

Suzanne M.

Yelp
I enjoy going on the trail at River Walk! It's nice to be outdoors for a run or a simple walk. I've been coming here for a while now, it's my go-to outdoor trail!
google avatar

Carin H.

Yelp
My boys love this park & so do tons of other dogs & their humans! When it's warm it's hard to keep them from pulling me into the ponds. It's clean & most people are good about keeping their dogs on a leash. My big boy is BIG & I never know how he'll react to an off leash dog that runs up,(I hate to worry bought that). It's pretty clean, most of us do the right thing & keep our dog waste picked up. Also there are vendors like ice cream trucks, fruit & corn guys/girls & McDonald's & subway are steps away as well as other fast food & restaurants! The play areas always have kids playing together & there's enough space for them to ride bikes & electric cars without running into others.

Yelp
I agree, the best park in town is the Park at River Walk. If only the air in Bakersfield was clean, we would be walking along the paths here everyday (except the hot Summer months). Great place to take the family! Only negative as others have mentioned, I would not recommend swimming in the water here. Does not appear to be very sanitary at all. Stay safe and have fun at the Park at Riverwalk!

Yelp
This park has defined my time in Bakersfield-- sunny afternoons spent perched under a tree, next to the lake, captivated by a novel. There isn't much to do in Bakersfield, but this is my go to place. Here, I clear my head, reflect on life, run away to lands depicted in novels, share picnics with friends, run the trails, people watch. Here, I am in a perfect world where people remember the better things in life-- family, physical activity, sunshine, and TRUE joy. It makes me happy to see kids running around, dads teaching their sons how to fish, dogs walking happily alongside their owners. It makes me happy to enjoy conversation with a friend while sitting on a picnic blanket. It makes me happy to simply be outside and feel the sun touch my skin. This park has green grass, trees aplenty, and a fantastic lake. This park has laughing children, dogs of all varieties, and people of all ages. It is a beauty that I DEMAND everyone in Bakersfield to partake in!
google avatar

Sarai D.

Yelp
I think this is a really nice park and it's kept pretty clean. I've been several times and have spent time under one of several covered patio areas as well as just on a camping chair under a tree. Most of the trees are unimpressive since it's a fairly new park, but they do have several mature, giant trees. I don't even know where to start. The park itself is expansive in my opinion with a lake/river connecting all the areas. People fish in the water and also swim in it at times. Not sure that's the best place to swim. There's a large area with play structures as well which are usually pretty packed. Definitely keep an eye on your younger kids or even be in the area with them as the older and bigger kids aren't paying attention. A portion of the bike path also runs along the edge of the park as well.
google avatar

Yelp
A beautiful park I stumbled upon while out in Bakersfield last. There's a big pond and there were some children playing and swimming in it. The whole park looked pretty clean with gentle grassy hills and walkways. There are of course bbq pits and some shade structure places. A very nice park to just chill out.
google avatar

J.R. A.

Yelp
Beautiful Park! Lots of people gather here with their children. Ponds, playground, walking trails, bridges... It's lovely. When I'm in town, I try bringing my daughter. I also go to the Target nearby.
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
After moving to Bakersfield and exploring we found this park down the street from our home. It beautiful in the morning, afternoon, especially at the crack of dawn. There's a pound located in the middle where the ducks come and gather. It's amazing seeing them fly in and their landing is perfect. They are well feed too by everyone lol so don't feel bad if they don't eat your bread. There's a path located at the top of the pound, it's a bike cycle path and also runners/walkers use. The path goes far in both directions so no need to complain about not working out. Lol Dogs are welcome, on a leash of course. The park is beautiful, you should stop by and visit.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
I love this park. I have yet to find a better park. Love walking and enjoying the sun, and everyone seems to be nicer in the sun anyways lol my daughter loves the park so far, she loves hearing the birds and the kids play
google avatar

Lorena S.

Yelp
Riverwalk Park doesn't compare to any other park in town as far it's abundant size, location, and the fact that it's situated along the bike trail. There's only one playground, but plenty of grass area, BBQ pits, and even the Bright House Ampitheatre, where lots of events and concerts take place. The lake adds a unique look to the park, but it's probably not intended for swimming-I repeat- not for swimming! It's stagnant, dirty, mossy water, so be a good parent and don't allow your kiddos to swim in it! It's pretty clean and people are usually friendly, especially dog owners! One of my favorite places in town to use as photography background and watch the sunset!
google avatar

Eddie L.

Yelp
Riverwalk park is a great park with nice views, small fishing area (heard the city restocks fish every so often)^^^, bike and running paths and even has some trails that lead to the kern river path. I really enjoy taking my dog here and letting him explore the backside of the park. Highly reccomend this park.
google avatar

Cyndi H.

Yelp
River walk is one of the newest if not the newest park in Bakersfield. Right along the right side of Stockdale Highway just passed Coffee Rd, it's in a prime location. Close to the shops and restaurants at Riverwalk. There is something to do here for everyone. Plenty of walking paths for if you want to take a leisurely stroll, perfect place to have a picnic on the grass, great spot for a birthday party or an outside baby shower. Lots of picnic tables and benches. Bbqs and covered areas as well. This is a giant park. Plenty of space. I love it here. The bike trail runs right along the back side of the park too. Perfect spot to park your car and hop on the bike trail. There's a small body of water not sure if it's a pond or a lake or what but it's pretty dirty looking. People feed the ducks and that's why it's gotten pretty nasty. I wouldn't swim here -a few years back a child died of drowning in the lake. So swim at your own risk. People fish in it as well. This place is great to take the kids to burn off some steam, perfect place to exercise and a beautiful place to host a family event. The Park at Riverwalk, 5 stars.
google avatar

Fred L.

Yelp
Awesome park, I love the lake. It's my favorite place to go swimming. I love taking my bike along the bike path too, it's so peaceful. Only thing missing is basketball courts.
google avatar

Lee S.

Yelp
I love this park. I take my son here often, especially in fall/winter/spring. The 2 lakes get stocked with trout, in late November. All you need is your CA fishing license, no private fees! Also this park connects to Baseball fields, what looks like a future 3rd lake, and further up Truxtun lake. which also can be fished. The park has a trail that goes all the way to lake Ming so if your in for a nice bike ride go for it! Bathrooms are what are to be expected at a public park. Also has an amphitheater, that recently had Trace Adkins perform. The Amphitheater is pretty cool, stage is surrounded by water. Overall, best park in Bakersfield.
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
It was a beautiful scene on a Friday night at Riverwalk . I walked around and shot a few pictures here and there. I will continue to go there for photography.
google avatar

Yonnie C.

Yelp
This is a nice park in Bake town. Plenty of paths to walk on, or bike on, take your pick. It's relatively clean, and lots of picnic tables + BBQ pits. It's right next to BrightHouse Amphitheater and close to stores, etc. The location is perfect for Bakersfield residents, and this is where you come to see fireworks during 4th of July, too! The only thing I find really strange is that people would use the large pond/lake in the the middle of the park -- to swim in?!!! Uhhh...is that sanitary?!!
google avatar

Maricel P.

Yelp
Love this park! This park is beautiful! My family and I come occasionally for a walk in the actual park or sometimes on the trails and there's always a variety of birds that you encounter. It's a really nice place for gatherings/BBQ/or just to have a picnic. People on the trails are very polite and you have a few options on which path you wanna take on the trail. You also see people fishing in the lake, but I'm not sure what they stock the lake with. What I like is, you don't have to reserve the gazebos. You can reserve it to be sure it's your reservation or it's pretty much a first come first serve basis.
google avatar

Nicole N.

Yelp
A wonderful walking trail, great place to walk, jig, run, or bike. Connect with nature. Roadrunners are everywhere. Love the water flowing through although it is drying out lately; it's still nice.
google avatar

Mari C.

Yelp
BEST PARK IN BAKERSFIELD!!! I love this park so much. This park is so peaceful and tranquil wroth great walking trails. The lake areas are really beautiful and there are lots of spots for picnics and plenty of tables also. We come here often to walk on good air days and visit the Little Free Library along the way!
google avatar

Yelp
We have been coming here since it opened & enjoy this park very much. We love it for its large size, the two beautiful lakes with stream, the ducks & squirrels, clean bathrooms, bike/walking paths, native plants, and all the grass! Also, this park is kept very clean considering how many thoughtless people leave their dirty diapers, fast food trash, cigarette butts, dog poop & party trash behind. We don't love that the playground is very small for the size of the park & all the kids that come, so it's often very crowded. There are no monkey bars or anything for older kids to do, so we see them climbing on top of the slide or doing dangerous things while the smaller kids are trying to play which always freaks me out. Also since there are no personnel or security around, I noticed the other day they had dead birds in front of the steps at the amphitheater & called the park to tell them so kids wouldn't see it or try to touch them. They told me to call animal control. Also called to report suspicious activity on the theater side (that is locked to the public) and was told to call the police. It's your property guys, really?!
