Silence Please

Such an interesting and unique café experience! There’s a DJ set up right in the middle of the space, playing a wide range of tracks directly from vinyl — it creates an incredibly cool and unexpected vibe. It’s a concept I’ve never seen anywhere else in the world, and the atmosphere is just fantastic. If you’re looking for a place that blends music and coffee culture in a truly original way, this spot is a must-visit.

Spent an afternoon at Silence Please. Loved the clean, minimalist decor and calm atmosphere. Matcha was good, and the whole space felt designed for music lovers. I noticed the record player but did not try it, though it looked like a fun and unique feature. The room is clearly made for group listening as well as quiet solo time, which makes it feel both intimate and special. I imagine the events here must be amazing with that high quality sound system. Thought the concept was very well executed, and I left wishing I could come back for a listening session. Five stars for design, atmosphere, and originality.

Cool space. You gotta press the buzzer to be allowed in. The staircase leading to the cafe is unique, it feels like the inside of a submarine or a small ship. The main speakers are cool, but it's quite difficult to get a good angle for pics. Matcha drinks were expensive (I think $10+) so I got an americano.

Nice concept to enjoy music, a place to do work or read. They have music playing in their special made speakers, but was very packed, hard to find a chair to sit and enjoy the vibe and drinks. Love that they have turntables to test listen to some selective vinyls. My Uji match was so dense, it tasted like a match concentrate, didn’t really enjoy it, it was my first time ever having a match like this. It was an experience. Every one had their preference. Maybe it was a raining weekend so people were lingering longer. Would come back in the futures a nice place to hang out.

This is a hidden gem. It’s on the second floor so you can’t tell there’s something there from the exterior. When I walked up the stairs and opened the door I felt like I was getting into a friend’s apartment rather than a coffee shop. It’s so cozy and relaxing and the matcha latte is spectacular! Highly recommend!

Almost speakeasy-like, you’ll need to buzz the 2nd floor to get into the building. It is a serene, minimal showroom with hi-fi speakers, vinyl collection, and a corner covered with bamboo mat where they occasionally host tea ceremonies. ＊Matcha Latte $8 / $12, Hojicha Latte $8 We opted for the more expensive ceremonial grade matcha. The matcha and hojicha looked great as you could tell from the vibrant colors, yet I found the tea-to-milk ratio a bit off. The drinks were too milky for my taste, which muted the tea flavor even without any added sugar… At $12 a cup, I was hoping for something more. I did appreciate the attention to detail in the preparation, as they used a traditional iron kettle for pouring hot water and handwhisked the tea. The clean design, high ceilings, and ample seating make the space feel spacious and calm. There is even a restroom and wifi available. I’d recommend stopping by for a peaceful matcha break or working from home there when you're in the area.

Loved the interior details and the incredible music, beautiful giant Silence Please speakers. A peaceful city secret, great solo or with friends. The Hojicha tea was excellent.

Great coffee spot, with amazing atmosphere. Definitely not an ordinary spot! Would suggest anyone looking for an inspirational space or creative space to work and get coffee!

I'm almost scared to write this review because I feel like I need to gatekeep this place. This really is a "hidden gem" and a really unique place to settle into. It's a mix of hifi listening room, coffee and tea bar, work lounge (I'm not sure the vibe at night since I only visited in the day,) and record store. The space feels super inviting, warm and relaxing. The dj was spinning this ambient jazzy horn sound and then transitioned into heavy blues horns, it was so peaceful and beautiful.

A true hidden gem tucked away in busy Chinatown! Silence Please is a huuuugggeeeee and beautiful space, perfect for catching up with friends. We were genuinely shocked by how large the space was. There's a large open area with couches for seating, a big communal table, and some tables by the window. It was honestly nothing like U'd ever seen in NYC. They serve an assortment of drinks in the daytime, and I opted for the fermented tea. It was really nice and had a subtle honey flavor. I will say, the drinks here are pricey. I paid $15 for the glass of fermented tea, but I think you're truly paying for the ambiance here. Large speakers and they have an area between the ordering area and seating space that was filled with records, funky looking speakers, and even a record player for you to listen to some of the selection they had. Really happy I came to Silence Please. I felt transported out of the hustle and bustle of the city to a calm space.

This coffee shop is one I have never seen before. First off you have to walk up some stairs to get to it. A nice work out before enjoying coffee and tea. I got to the floor where it is on and opened the door not really knowing what to expect. There was some music playing in this very Zen like atmosphere. There is a large couch with some tables around. And around the space they have speakers. When you walk into the next section of the place you will find more speakers and alot of records. Old and new bands. In the last area or this place is where you can order coffee or tea drinks. Unfortunately, when I was there they had been waiting on their espresso order so, I could not get an iced latte I was hoping for. The staff here were friendly and really tried to help me pick an alternative drink to have. So I went with this marshmallow like tea. I wanted it iced but the tea I chose could not be made into an iced drink. They also gave me a sample of another kind of tea before I landed on mine. All of the teas were interesting sounding. Not sure I would come back here if there are no coffee drinks. It is a great quiet place though. A very interesting concept of a place.

The music is loud enough to add a nice background track to your visit. They also have a variety of vinyls for sale. The matcha was fun to try and they have a ton of different types. Nice concept - pretty empty and chill on a Saturday morning. High quality speakers when you walk in and immediately open area. The cafe is in the back and the staff was super inviting and walked us through all the teas. Normally they have coffee too but today they primarily had tea which we opted for the Sobacha and the Nilgiri Green. Big fan of both just unique teas. The middle area allows you to listen to vinyls privately with headsets they have pretty cool. All in all cool place to stop by and check out.

This is such a hidden gem. You walk up the stairs and as soon as you open the doors, you are just amazed. It feels like somewhere that belongs in Brooklyn but I'm so glad it's here in Manhattan! I came here during the day, and there's a very extensive tea selection, with some pastries and cookies to nibble on. The space was a lot bigger than I expected, with a louder area by the windows/road with all the speakers, vinyls in the middle where you can listen to ones you are interested in, and the cafe area with some seating (quieter). The staff by the cafe area is so friendly and welcomes you by asking how your day is going/if it's your first time here/etc. They will bring your drink out to you so you can just get seated after you order! There's free wifi, but it's not a wfh friendly place if you need somewhere quiet (obviously). But the space is so comfortable with big tables, smaller tables, a couch area, couple outlets, and just good vibes! The only thing is that I got the iced hojicha latte with regular milk but the taste of hojicha wasn't that strong (': Maybe I will try just a regular tea next time! Highly recommend and would love to come here again to just read a book and vibe.

Cane for the sounds and the Hojicha! Apart from the perfectly designed studio space I think silence please has the best Hojicha latte in the city! This is a spot to quiet yourself and listen. Don't come in here being loud with your phone going off. It's not a place to bring friends and gossip either. Their vinyl collection is great, the service was friendly and I really loved how quiet this place is

Grate vibes, cozy but city atmosphere. With a good music. I love that a lot. At the bar, get a Hoji tea latte is the best. I love the layout of the entire place!
