On one hand, Black Magic Pizza is some of the best pizza in Orlando. All pies are made-to-order, the crust and ingredients are fresh, they have inventive flavors and offerings, and I love their merch - particularly the stickers. I cannot think of a single greater place to grab pizza, beer, and wings. It is located inside of Whiskey Lou's which is a great dive for cheap, stiff drinks. Personally, I love the atmosphere, but it might not be for everyone.
On the other hand, there are a couple things keeping Black Magic from being my #1 pizza spot. I have an important, personal quip which I always forget about until after I have eaten their food. It is very greasy and I'm yet to go there and not get sick in some capacity. There are very few foods that upset my stomach or make me feel ill, but Black Magic's food just does not sit right with me. Their hot honey pizza, I think, is a particular offender: lots of grease mixed with honey and marinara. My girlfriend, however, has never gotten an upset stomach after eating, so this could just be a me problem.
The second trouble comes with the prices. I'm contented to pay $20 for a medium-sized pie if it's of superb quality - which is true for Black Magic; however, their specialty pizzas are way, way over-priced. They have inventive and exciting weekly offerings such as the Crab Rangoon pizza, but I'm unwilling to spend upwards of $30 on something that might be bad. I think they should offer specialty pizza by-the-slice.
Even though it upsets my stomach consistently, Black Magic Pizza is one of the best pizzarias in Orlando and I cannot think of a better spot to grab a delicious pizza with a cheap beer.
