Salem Saturday Market

I visited the market on October 4, 2025, and noticed that there were not as many vendors this year compared to previous years. There were also fewer people attending. The selection of fruits and vegetables was limited, and it would have been nice to see more ice cream vendors and treats. Despite these issues, it was still enjoyable to visit.

“Scratch made meats” has the best sausages. Do yourself a favor and check em out. Pictured are the chicken parm.

I had so much fun here, this was a very great experience buying fresh fruit and vegetables. Organic fresh farm locally grown. Pet friendly environment. Not all people are pet friendly I’ve noticed.

Great variety of vendors! I always find something to purchase. From food to plants to jewelry, candles, clothing, the list goes on. Everyone is friendly and well behaved dogs are welcome!

Easily one of my favorite markets of all time. The vibe is so comfortable and the selection is incredible. Great prices on fresh cut flowers, produce and eggs.

I love hitting this in Saturdays. some vendors rotate weeks being there so you get a little change each week. sadly the vendor did not have what I came for but gave me alternative places to find it. the booths are fantastic and the people are generally pretty friendly. a great start to a Saturday.

I visited Pacific North Wild at Saturday Market for the first time with the intention of purchasing a cat-themed tote and shirt. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. Upon approaching the store, I was not greeted or acknowledged by the two staff members present. They were engaged in conversation with another group, and the interaction fell silent as I neared, only to resume after I walked away. Basic courtesy, such as a simple greeting or acknowledgment, goes a long way in making customers feel welcome. It’s important that all patrons are treated with respect and not judged based on appearance or skin color. I hope the store considers this feedback to ensure a more inclusive and professional environment for everyone.

A wide variety of booths and stands offering your typical street fair goods. Live music and food trucks, too! Plenty of parking in the lot across the street.

Love this market! I was down in Salem to watch some roller derby when I stopped in. Firstly, parking is super crazy easy and across the street from the market itself which is great. Everyone we encountered was friendly and welcoming. I had a fantastic surprise when I saw Granny Fi's shortbread! I had seen her at multiple events in Washington and was delighted to find her at the market--my kids were delighted to get some shortbread and millionaire bars outside of the summer events! Such a great selection of items, many allergy friendly choices and, so so so so so many dogs. It was glorious.

Super friend farmers market. Was nice leisure stroll. Lots of beautiful flowers, fresh produce, artisans and food trucks. Something for everyone at the Saturday market.

This place was huge with lots of variety of crafters, bake goods, food truck, fresh fruits, veggies, wine/liquor tasting, flowers and plants. We took about an hour and a half and this includes us sitting to eat up our paella, bread, fruits and some Greek food. I would definitely come back.

I've been to a lot of farmer's markets in the Portland-Vancouver metro area and I think this is one of the better ones! We showed up right before 9:00 and many vendors were ready to go. We were starving and found lots of great options. We enjoyed quesadillas for breakfast (not breakfast quesadillas) and the best strawberry lemonade! Given how many dogs were there, we were very surprised there weren't any vendors catering to dog owners. I really wanted to take treats home to my pups. We went home with a bounty of bread and pastries. What a lovely place!

This Saturday market is a lot of fun with lots of vendors and choices. Some of the produce prices are actually higher than organic produce in the local grocery stores but you for sure know who you are buying it from and where it is coming from when you buy at the farmers market, and you're supporting a small (or smaller) local vendor, so the slightly higher costs are worth it. The produce is always very fresh and really great quality. One humorous aspect is the large quantity of dogs. SO. MANY. DOGS. It was kind of hilarious to me when I was walking to the market one Saturday morning, surrounded by crowds of other people walking to the market, and several of them were conversing about how many dogs are always at the market. In fact I think it would be a lucrative side business to set up a booth outside of the market and rent out dogs just for people to take with them into the market so they would fit in with all the other dog owners with their dogs at the market. Kind of like renting a bicycle. Of course I'm joking (for the humor-impaired among us) but that thought did occur to me that you could probably make some pretty good money if you went to the market and then were like, oh no! I forgot to bring my dog! how will I fit in without a dog! Other aspects... It can get pretty crowded and on a hot day maybe not the most fun walking around in all that heat, crowds of people and...did I mention dogs. Ha ha. Instead of including some pictures of vendors and people... And dogs... I've included a couple of photos of some of the delicious items I purchased and brought home. The booth with the pickled beets and pickles are really good, and the humus vendor...many varieties of humus, all fresh and tasty. Also recommend the booth with fresh homemade local honey, and the booth with the smoked salmon. Their salmon dip is excellent. This downtown Saturday market is another really great gem in Salem that makes Salem wonderful.

Fun lovely market with yummy foods and great shopping. You must get a hot chai tea from Yerba Buena tea company!!! It was heavenly sipping the fragrant brew and walking through all the rows.

I'd have to say this is one of the best Saturday markets I have ever been to. Lots of vendors, happy people and a ton of good food carts to choose from. I've been once but plan on going back as often as I can in the years to come as I'm a new resident to Salem. I have never seen so many varieties of pets that people brought along with them also. Usually one would see people bringing their dogs to Saturday market to walk around with. I not only saw a lot of very well behaved dogs, but also a very well behaved chicken (Of course I petted her) and an exotic lizard that I can't recall the name of. It's not your typical pet lizard. It was extremely beautiful, large and looked very different than lets say a bearded dragon for example. I also petted it. I kind of went off on a different path here but was just amazed at the pets people brought with them lol!! I hope this is the norm. Back to the Saturday market. Tons of fresh produce as expected. I brought home some amazing food from a Middle Eastern vendor. I must go back before it closes for the season to get more. I also came across several vendors who had the most gorgeous and unique plants and flowers for ones garden or patio. There seems to be something for everyone here as it's a very decent sized market. Even if you live in surrounding areas, I highly recommend taking the drive to check it out.

With over 150 vendors, how could this market not be amazing? Coming from Davis, CA aka. "The Home Of The Best Farmer's Market In The World" (wink, wink) we know our way around a good farmers market, so were excited to give it a whirl. Located just a block north of the State Capitol building, I would assume parking might be tough, but we found a lot across the street that had plenty of spaces free. The first place we stopped was at the POP (Power of Produce) Kids Club, where there was a sample of a farmers market cucumber. If the kids tried the sample (each week a different fruit or vegetable is chosen by the staff), they get $2 market cash to spend on fresh fruits or vegetables! The kids absolutely LOVED the idea of having their own money to choose whatever they wanted. There were also some fun educational activities related to farming and produce. One of the things I noticed was that practically every booth was giving out samples. At the markets I'm used to it's only every few booths that have samples readily available - I love samples so this really appealed to me. There were even samples of fresh spring rolls! Yum. The prices for organic produce were really quite reasonable. We purchased some apples from a booth that smelled so fresh I think they were picked that morning. The girls ended up spending their POP earnings at South Barlow Berries - this booth had gorgeous berries available in variety packs and were very reasonably priced. For those 21+ there were a number of adult beverage samples, like Whiskey, hard cider and craft cocktails as well! We took a quick run through the prepared food section, but were full of berries and the other samples that we didn't need to stop. So, if you're in the Salem area, hit up the Saturday Market - it's a great experience with something for everyone's palate.

A couple weeks ago I went to the Salem Saturday market to donate blood with the Red Cross. Afterward, I walked around the outdoor market with my son. It was fun watching people and listening to the music. I bought some fresh fruit. Their were all kinds of local food and homemade items to look at. Some things were priced reasonably and some a little high. I know they are all trying to make enough to get through the year. If you haven't been here before, you should visit and help out your community. Even if it is just a little. It all adds up.

This has been a favorite stop for my since visiting Salem. The market is huge and has a great variety. There was food trucks in the back. Plenty of farmers with an abundance of fresh produce. I finally picked up this $15 bouquet from a vendor. Couldn't have found a prettier bouquet this weekend. When off of work I try to go every Saturday!

We love coming here to walk around and taste local products and catching some lunch. Always great to see the dogs and music. We have bought meat from the butcher, herbs for the garden, pastries, and so much mor! With the weather so beautiful it makes for a great way to kick off the Saturday!

After three trips to Salem's Saturday market I finally feel qualified to post a review. I seem to be shopping at the same vendors each time I go: Henny Farms - Locally Grown Lamb, the lady who sells flowers including my favorite peonies, and the kettle corn people. The market is small and there are less vendors each time I've been here in May and June. Hopefully, this is due to the crazy weather and not to dwindling participation. I do love having the open market, the incredible farm fresh veggies, berries, starter plants, as well as the beautiful flowers (peonies!), crafters and organic or locally grown products but there needs to be a bigger variety of food vendors. There was kettle corn, an Asian noodle and spring roll place, a Peruvian food stand, a Mexican food stand which doesn't serve lengua (probably wouldn't sell well with the mostly not Mexican crowd), a coffee stand, a cupcake vendor and more than three bakery or cookie vendors. What would really bring in more people would be to add new and exciting food vendors! How about Indian, Thai, Micronesian, Polynesian, authentic Chinese, or Korean? Or Dutch, Russian, French, Italian? I would so return every Saturday just for the food. I read through the application for types of crafters allowed and it seems like as long as you make the product yourself, you can sell it at the market. C'mon, crafters and artists! With websites like Pinterest I have seen that there are many talented crafters and artisans out there. We need to see more of you at Saturday market. I have money to trade for your crafts!

Hopefully there will be more vendors with in the next few weeks. We went the first day so not many however those who were there were friendly and fun to chat with! I'll take my dog next time too! Lots of doggies there

Great market with so much to choose from. The people are friendly. Lots of parking available. So many nice people with fabulous foods and wares!

Very fun! Huge market with plenty of vendors to visit. They have plants, veggies, crystals, plenty of coffee, kombucha and other things. So many things it would take forever to list them all. It gets pretty busy so go early. They have toilets there too if you need to use them otherwise the mall is nearby so you can use the bathrooms there.

This is one of the FIRST farmers markets I've been to since moving to Salem from California. The selection is pretty big here! A lot of the products are pretty affordable and if you love dogs, THIS PLACE IS DOG FRIENDLY AND ITS SO MAGICAL!

This is a huge combination of food booths, grocery/produce booths, arts and crafts booths, and all the other usual suspects all in one place right downtown by the Capitol. What's not to like? The lineup of vendors is good, and the vibe is right on. They run the place really well--everything clicks along right on schedule. That berry lemonade stand, man, that is killer on a hot day, too. I also highly recommend the hops, berries, and other produce at AMR Farms. Great stuff. Killer strawberries and white raspberries this weekend.

This was a really nice sized market, of course plenty of food, a number of flower stands, some ready to eat food vendors, as well as some gifts and craftsman type items. If I lived here, I could see I'd be here every week. Really wish I could've bought out all the peonies, they had so many for $10 per bunch. Jealous.

Today was the last day for the season ( I believe) !!! It was a beautiful day and the perfect weather. There were quite a bit of stands and they all had great things they were selling...Ceramic Dishes/ jewerly/ crochet and knits items. The flower stands have beautiful big bouquets for $10.00!!! We grabbed a bunch of seasonal vegetables, beets, potatoes, acorn squash. Great prices and always fun to go and just look around.

It's small, but that makes it easy to walk around in and really easy to park at. There's a nice mix of produce, flowers, crafts, and food, although when we went today there weren't too many booths at the food court area; it was a little later in the day, maybe some of them had packed up already. - Check out The Local Sharpener while you're there. You can bring your knives in and he will sharpen them while you shop. Very nice, very professional, and makes those knives look and work great for a very reasonable price. - My wife loves the yakisoba in the food court...big disappointment when they weren't there today. Nice place to take a stroll and get out an enjoy the nice summer weather.

Great for fruits, veggies, and live plants. As for crafts, you'd do better in Portland. I moved to Salem from Berkeley, California (Boo, hiss, I know... I'm not supposed to admit my California transplant status.) Anyway, I was really glad to see Salem supported a relatively vibrant farmer's market -- especially for a city of this size. If you looking for fresh food, then this should be your go-to place. For a bit less than Safeway, you can find fresh, high quality greens, fruits, and veggies. Of course there's the eco-smugness that comes along with knowing your kale grew just a few miles up the road (requiring little carbon to get it to market), but the thing that I love most is the crisp, fresh produce. Roth's and Safeway make a good faith effort at fresh, but they can't hold a candle to the produce we get from the market. I find that Martinez Family Farms always has the best produce at the best prices. You can buy fresh eggs here, as well as organic meats of various kinds. We've never purchased these, however, as they're much more expensive than the supermarket varieties. My foodie friends, however, swear by the local lamb stand. Saturday market is also a fantastic place to find your green plants. The young tomato, tomatillo, pepper, lettuce, and squash plants we found at Saturday market were healthier (and cheaper) than the Home Depot/Lowes starter plants. (A Home Depot pepper plant spread its nasty blight throughout my garden, but that's the subject of another review.) As for live plants, I recommend Minto Island Growers. Saturday market also has its share of live music (not always so great), food cart vendors (tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary), and craftspeople. If you're looking to buy arts and crafts, perhaps the Portland market would serve you better. Maybe it's that I'm just not a crafts person, but I don't often see crafts I'd actually want to purchase at Saturday Market. I'll close with a few practical tips. The market is best early in the day (around 8:30 or 9:00, especially if you don't like crowds.) But real deal hunters might prefer the time just before closing. I know some of the bakeries put their goods on special at the end of the day. Also, bring cash. It's possible to use a credit card here, but only if you're willing to jump through several hoops. If you wish to charge your purchase you have to pick out your merchandise, have the clerk ring up your total, walk across the market to the administration booth, have them charge the total, and then walk back to the original booth to get your goods. While I applaud the Saturday market for attempting to become plastic friendly, I just prefer the convenience of cash. Finally, bring your own reusable bags. Some of the merchants provide plastic disposable bags, but many do not. Employing your own reusable bags will keep the merchants and the planet happier -- while making your veggie filled trip home a lot easier.

this is one of the great spots to go to on a Saturday and yesterday was the first day they were open, and you can bring your dog on a leash. lots of places to buy plants, enjoy some Peruvian tamales, and many types of other food. fresh honey vendors, and leather works. a great place to put money back right into the local community directly. almost all the farmers here are here with no GMO nonsense. I really love this place its so fun.

This was my favorite farmers market, I loved that it was pet friendly, the dogs that were there were very well behaved and this makes it so nice for those of us who have those types of dogs and like to get out with them. The vendors that were selling the flowers had absolutely gorgeous flowers at incredible prices. Those of you lucky enough to be frequent visitors to this market should feel grateful. The food trucks were also an added advantage if you wanted to make a lunch or breakfast of it. Loved the nice, long hours of 9-3 as well.

Crap. Small. What's the point of going here? Oh yeah... cuz there's not much else going on Saturday in Salem. If you want something other than boquets of flowers, you'll need to head to the Portland Saturday Market, where real artists live, create, and sell their goods. Salem's market is for suckers who don't know any better. I will give it one extra star because the crowds are smaller. Anyone who knows me knows that I can't stand a crowd.

For years I've been visiting the Saturday market, and I always have a decent time. If you are looking for local, organic and fresh produce, this is the place the go! All the vendors have affordable and tasty fruits and veggies for sale, sometimes its a better bargain than going to your grocery store during the week. I've eaten at some of the food stalls, never really found anything that was particularly outstanding. I enjoy the lettuce wraps, but I haven't seen the gals that sell them recently. The crepes are good, but you have to get to the market early if you want anything savory- they run out quick! I highly suggest visiting the lamb farm stalls, especially if you have a pooch at home. They have incredibly cheap bones for dogs, ranging from 50 cents to two bucks. Can't argue with that price, and my dog loves those bones. I also am obsessed with Mrs. Clugston's Bakery, she's been at the market for years. She makes sugar free and gluten free goodies that are outstanding, I've had nothing quite like her blueberry bread and sugar free pumpkin bread. My husband is a fan of the cinnamon rolls too. This place is great, very small, but cute.If you're looking for good produce or just want to meet up with a friend, this is the place to visit!

This is a great small town farmers market. During the begining and the end of their season it can be really small, but it's June right now and it has a ton of vendors. There's a live band too which is fun. Lots of places to eat and drink and a good variety of it. Lots of flowers. Lots of veggie and herb plants. And lots of places to buy meat. Which is fantastic. I've been to many a farmers market, and this one is great on it's own.

This is a must go to attraction! Symbolic of the amazing agriculture/farming we have in the local Willamette Valley. Taste great food freshly made ranging from Mexican, American, to Filipino. The freshest produce you can get with many stands accepting EBT. Samples galore of all the tantalizing products and food. If you are an avid green thumb can snag starter veggies and herbs for $2 or bouquets of flowers for $10. Even keeping the children in mind with free music, performances, and shows.

Farmer's Markets and other open-air festival-type place are my favorite kind of shopping. The Salem Saturday market is a great example of why I enjoy it so much and keep going on Market-walks. First -- the collection of arts and crafts; cut flowers, live plants (and this time of year, veggie starts and herb garden starts); fresh fruits and veggies as well as a few preserve; hand made candies and bakery goods; hand made childrens clothing, toys, and hats; and even some tents where people will sell you freshly butchered meat, charcuterie, and eggs! The Salem Market is particularly heavy on beautiful bouquets of flowers, hanging baskets, and clothing. We saw many many shoppers carrying one of the gorgeous hanging baskets of bright colored spring flower-goodies. If they are short on anything, it's actual produce -- the farmer-part of a farmer's market. There were mostly strawberries here, and a few onion-lettuce-radish vendors -- which is good for May -- but I was really hoping for a little more variety. Then there are the people themselves-- both buyers and sellers. Friendly, courteous, and having a really good time. Salem Market is full of well loved and well trained children and dogs -- nearly every adult has one or the other (or both!) with them -- and the kids and pets are just as well mannered as you want them to be. We brought our little dog with us -- sporting an Oregon Ducks jersey -- and every few feet we walked, a child would very quietly come up and ask if they could please pet the dog! (well, of course -- this dog lives to be sweet!) Except for one toddler with a skinned knee, there was no reverberation of crying or wailing -- or barking in the market. One very serious (but funny) little boy gave us a complete update on the status of his potty training; a flock of 4 long-haired dachshunds swept through the crowds of shoppers like military police, making sure everybody stayed in line! All the dogs are leased, and all the children are well behaved -- this is a good sign. There was also a team of civic minded folks out gathering signatures on petitions -- this time for open primaries and legalization of marijuana. They wern't pushy or loud -- just taking care of business and giving folks an opportunity to participate! And -- like the kids and pets -- welcomed by pretty much everybody to their share of wide-openness of the place. There's also an interesting food court area -- with lots of juices, smoothies, taco stands, ethnic flavors and smells -- Peruvian fried plantains and handmade vegetarian tamales to French crepes and open-air-oven grilled pizza. The foods are moderately priced -- you can get snacks for just a dollar or two -- or meal sized portions for $5-10. There's also a lot of seating in this area --both under awnings and trees, and out in the open. Best of all, the Salem Saturday Market features a live music venue in the food court area -- this weeks was Celtic folk music. Later weeks this summer will have big band, jazz, country, rock and roll -- it's a really wonderful background sound. This is something farmers markets are just folding into their scheduling -- and the best new addition to the faire atmosphere. This farmers market is exceptionally clean, spacious (wide aisles to walk without crowding,) friendly, easy to get to (if not easy to find parking!) and in a lovely part of Salem's downtown area. Excellent!

Small but nice Saturday market. There is a good variety of vendors and I always find something I love. A nice, relaxing way to spend a Saturday morning or afternoon.

For Salem, this market is actually pretty good...considering our smaller population. The flowers are always a good deal...price-wise...so its worth it if you need to pick up some bouquets. Their food selection is diverse, but the quality ain't so hot. It's worth a trip at least once, to check it out. There fruits and fresh veggies are a good deal as well.

Great for flowers, plants, locally grown fruits, veggies, meats and baked goods. I'm sure the items offered change throughout the year so it's worth it to check back at least once a month and stroll around and browse and see what's being offered. You can also grab a bite to eat here off one of the food vendor booths. The kettle corn booth always smells so dang delicious!!!

Looooooove this market. I enjoy this one way more then Portland or Lake Oswego's. I like that it nicely spread out and that they have so much art and amazing food.

I just went to the Saturday Market for the first time this weekend. It was pretty cool - scored some soap and a cute little monster plush. They had a decent selection and the turnout was good. I'd like to see more eclectic goods offered, in addition to the standard saturday market fare. The food was waaaaaaayy overpriced. $7 for a tamale is more then I'm willing to spend . I'll definitely return, especially since I'm hooked on the spearmint soap I bought.

It' nice supporting local farmers and crafters. It can be quite crowded at times and other times it's fairly empty. Luckily parking is fairly easy most of the time.

Farmer's market had just about everything you could want, though the layout was unusual. I was surprised that they had two hard alcohol and one wine seller giving free tastes (to 21+). Mostly prepared foods and crafts, and limited veggie and fruit stalls. Enough to get what you want, but not enough to price compare.
