Google
The food was excellent. The staff were all very nice. Service started out great, then slowed down noticeably as the bar got busy. Apparently the bartender also waits on a few of the tables, which didn't work very efficiently on this particular Friday evening.

Google
Came for dinner and drinks. LOVED the squid salad. Chicken parm was good. Cocktails were great. Loved the vibe - there was live music and dim lights.

Google
One of the best restaurants on east Avenue, very beautiful. Especially they're back room party hall. Everything about this restaurant is special. They're food, they're staff. I highly recommend to try Veneto restaurant your self.

Angelica H.

Google
Came here for dinner - would come again! Loved the Bolognese Rigatoni, Rustica and Chicken Bruschetta Pizzas along with their Lavender Bramble Cocktail. Service and atmosphere were wonderful.

Google
Utica Green, pasta con funghi and margherita pasta were so good. Dessert was phenomenal.

It was a last-minute get together, and we chose Veneto. We really enjoyed our pizzas, the mushroom one is great as is the Mediterranean. Really liked the red wine too. The only reason I removed 1 star from service is that we felt rushed through our meal. It was a bit annoying as the restaurant was pretty empty, and we don't get to see the other party as often as we would have liked. All in all, we enjoyed it! Would definitely be back to try other menu items.

Google
It was tough to find a good italian place that has gluten free pasta. This place was great and my meal was delicious! Friendly service and a warm environment. I really like the light fixtures. Bonus points for house pours of wine.

Google
Popped in for a bite to eat in Downtown Rochester, everything along the way was empty. Casual atmosphere with very good service (Whitney), but I got the impression that everyone who worked here had the same good natured, friendly disposition. The food was good, the drinks were good too, my Old Fashioned had a tricky bit of orange ice. I would definitely recommend and return if ever I was back in Rochester. Thank you Veneto 👍😀

Yelp
Lovely Italian restaurant on East Avenue. I was seated promptly and it was quiet at first. As I was waiting my food the dining area quickly filled up and the energy was lively. The decor is modern and the specials were clearly posted on a large board visible when entering. My server Sue was so kind and welcoming. When I told her how much I enjoyed the complimentary bread, she informed me it was homemade and wrapped me up the remaining bread with an extra slice or two. I ordered the chicken French entree which came with spaghetti. The chicken and sauce was flavorful but the texture of the chicken was a little tough. I enjoyed the food overall but for the price ($26) I would have appreciated a more generous portion.

Yelp
On our way up to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada over the Labor Day weekend. My wife and my brother & sister in law stopped at a hotel in Rochester for the night before finishing the trip the next day and crossing the border. Time to eat. It was later in the evening around 8:30pm Friday before Labor Day. We first stopped in at Murphy's Law (Irish Pub close to the hotel). We left without ordering. See that review on Yelp.) That's how we ended up at Veneto. Walked in, even though it was later, they were still working and we were greeted and sat without hesitation. Modern look with an open kitchen (which I love!). Not full but the staff were still busy. I could see this place really buzzing during peak hours. Renee was our server. Very nice and knowledgeable. Most of all, attentive. Also, she asked how the dishes were and was very enthusiastic about the desserts. Her enthusiasm is what sold us on dessert. Food came out quickly but not too quickly. We had: Housemade bread: Fantastic. Remarkably soft and silky texture. Perfect for dipping in olive oil. Pasta con Funghi with Truffle broth: I've never had a pasta dish with a broth before that wasn't a ramen dish. Perfect dish for me just then because it was late and I wasn't looking for a heavily sauced, meaty dish. It was Delicious!! Chicken Bruschetta Pizza: Probably the best pizza I've tasted outside of my own kitchen in quite some time. Chicken Parmigiano: Also good but underwhelming. My wife said it was good. Which is saying something. lol Also, the portion is huge and definitely shareable. My wife shared the dish with her sister and she still couldn't finish her half. Dessert: Housemade cannoli & chocolate cake. Both were fresh and delicious. Perfect, in fact. All in all, we had a great experience. Whenever we're in Rochester we'll be looking for Veneto. Definitely recommend. 3.9/5 stars

Yelp
What a great place! The food is delicious, the ambiance is lovely, the staff is accommodating and friendly. I ordered the arancini, which was perfectly crispy in the outside, and cheesy, gooey and flavorful on the inside. For dinner I had the Pasta con Funghi. Holy cow, the truffle cream and goat cheese combo were phenomenal. I already have plans to go back and would be hard pressed to try something else, because this was so great. No complaints whatsoever. Can't wait to visit again

Yelp
I took my brother for dinner on Sunday evening and as always, the service and, the food was excellent!

Rodney M.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Veneto, and I was a little disappointed in the pizzas I ordered. I ordered 2 pizzas to go and had a gin and tonic while I waited. The server was attentive and courteous and made a great cocktail, but when I arrived home, the pizzas were overdone to the point where it impacted the flavor. I do plan on trying again, but I will be a little cautious when ordering.

Yelp
What a cool little pizza and Italian restaurant, was within walking distance of our hotel which made it great, tried some local beers that were on tap. Services were great and could see the kitchen very unique and great.

Yelp
Great pasta- homemade rigatoni . Few nice Italian wines by glass . I feel Italian .Big menu of daily specials

Yelp
First time visiting Veneto for dinner on a Friday night, couldn't be happier and am looking forward to the next time! We showed up half an hour late for our reservation (my bad) and were greeted so kindly by the host. I didn't catch his name but he was awesome and within minutes we were knee-deep in interesting conversation and he was giving us movie recommendations! We had an excellent meal, but the sweetest part was our server Renee. She was welcoming, kind, attentive, personable and ended our dinner with a warm welcome to Rochester (we just moved here) and a hug. We'll come back again simply for the folks who work here, but yes the food is delicious and the place is awesome!

Donna F.

Yelp
Food and service were outstanding! Pasta con fungi, delicious! Pasta rustica, tasty and better the next day...lol. Pizzas were inventive and delicious. Weekend specials were creative and different...with generous portions. They bake their own bread too. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We had a great experience from start to finish. We were a group of 3 adults and 3 active children, and the staff was friendly, warm, and welcoming! Our margarita, pesto chicken, and pepperoni pizzas were delicious, fungi pasta incredible, and the chicken Milanese salad was massive and delicious. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has tons of space. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Tree his was our first visit back to Veneto since they reopened after the fire last year. It was great- they have updated the interior and added a party room in the back- and the menu was pretty darn close to what it was before. The service, food and ambience e were all great. We spilt a large Veneto green salad- plenty for 2 ppl, and also split the Rustica wood fired pizza- which we love. Sausage and green peppers. It was a good night and I am so glad they are back in business!

Peter I.

Yelp
We used to love Veneto but not so much anymore. It's just not a good value for the money. We ordered fettuccine Alfredo with chicken (which isn't a menu item) and they charged us $33 for it. Yet the chicken parm that's on the menu is $25. Also, our pizza was overcooked. A little char around the edges is fine, but all the exposed crust was black.

Daniel G.

Yelp
You must try their Pasta con Funghi with truffle sauce. What an amazing vegetarian dish with a sauce too good to just leave on the plate. Casual atmosphere with the bar taking up much of the room. Friendly service. But try the truffle sauce!

Lenora P.

Yelp
Service was quick and the meal was delicious! The crab and shrimp risotto was served hot and delicious. I appreciated the amount of crab mixed in. Caesar salad was nice and fresh. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Very good. Went here for dinner as a last minute audible when we needed a place to eat before my son's graduation ceremony. Hostess was nice, our server (Aliyah) was fantastic, attentive and friendly with the kids. It's a cool little place right on East Ave but with parking adjacent (they'll give you a parking pass in the restaurant so you don't have to pay - win!). Interior was spare but nice ambiance overall. The food was really good. Daughter crushed the calamari app, I loved the pepper and olive topping they added, really kicked it up a notch. Son got a wood fired pizza with cheese and mushrooms. Sometimes the mushrooms on a wood fired pizza can be undercooked because the pizza cooks so quick, but these were perfect. The bolognese with rigatoni was good, creamy ricotta on top was a nice touch. The ravioli with vodka sauce was a hit too. All in this was an excellent stop, we'll definitely come again.
google avatar

Laura W.

Yelp
Food was excellent as well as service and atmosphere. I got one of the specials, pumpkin ravioli and it was delicious. My husband partner had a pizza and the teens both had pasta too. I tried one of them- creamy vodka sauce- very good as well. We'll be back!

Yelp
We chose this restaurant because we had heard good things about it and we weren't disappointed. We were seated promptly and greeted by a very nice waiter/server. He explained the specials of the evening and took our drink orders. They have a very nice selection of cocktails, wine, beer and even cider. We ordered a large salad for the table and they served homemade bread which we used to dip into the left over dressing. So good. The place is nice with seating near the window and seating at the bar. You can make reservations to sit at the bar. It was a little loud at times but we sat near the windows and I think that helped with reducing the noice. Our food came out promptly and was so delicious and flavorful at the table we got the Pasta Rustica with homemade rigatoni, Prosciutto with peas Alfredo, and a woodfire mushroom pizza. The restaurant was busy and 3 different tables celebrating birthdays but it still was pleasant to be in. I would definitely go back and a reservation is required. Parking requires a $10 fee.

Albert N.

Yelp
Food was good, portion was embarrassing . I had Chicken Saltimbocca, 2 tiny slices, the portion was so small. AND ,bartender was drinking a glass of wine and the Chef was drinking a drink the server made for him, with Hedrick's Giin, very unprofessional.

Td B.

Yelp
Not a great experience. We walk in to be seated and are asked if we have a reservation. A reservation for a pizza place? No, we don't. Of course there are about four empty tables so what's the problem. The guy grabs some menus and says follow me. He put the menus down on the bar. Excuse me! He doesn't ask if we want to sit at the bar, he doesn't tell us he is bringing us to the bar, just plops down menus at the bar. We ask for one of the several empty tables and he complies. By the time we left there were at least ten empty tables so I don't know what his problem was, clearly, he didn't need them for anyone coming later. At least three of the tables remained empty the entire time we were there. Now on to the food. We order pizza. I see a pizza oven in the corner with a raging fire so I'm thinking this might be some good pizza. It isn't. It arrives and looks like it should be crispy as it is charred on the top as many pizzas are when they are placed in a screaming hot oven. I pick up the slice and it is so soggy it flops down. Not a good sign. It was as soggy tasting as it looked. The sauce was ridiculously sweet. These people have a lot to learn about pizza making. The entire crust was soft. It was like biting into a dinner roll. Only people who know nothing about pizza or food would consider this worthwhile pizza.

Jerry R.

Yelp
Gorgeous decor, food was great, we got the chicken parmigiana and pasta fungi. Server gave us great wine recommendations to pair with lunch. We'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Roshan R.

Yelp
Me and my wife love this restaurant. The chicken marsala was exquisite. One of the best I had. The mushroom pizza was delicious too, however, it was loaded with oil. I had the same issue with their Mediterranean pizza when I visited the last time. Also, this was my second visit here and they served complimentary bread this time. The last time I was here for dinner, they did not. I wonder why?! Also, the waiter never asked if we wanted more bread.
google avatar

Mike H.

Yelp
Nice Italian restaurant with good pizza and pasta. A good choice for Italian food in Rochester.

Casey W.

Yelp
Worst pizza in Rochester if you like soggy pizza then this is the place for you! After seeing their commercial a while back I went their needless to say I won't be going back
google avatar

Angelina P.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I have been coming here since we started dating, it's our favorite place for a nice date night. It's never too loud, and servers are always kind, and the food is delicious. Will be coming here for a long time!
google avatar

Stewart L.

Yelp
I like this place a lot. Business traveler and there's always a spot at the bar. The pasta is excellent. They make a really good Chicken Parm. The pizzas are great. Prices are not bad. Wine is tasty. Staff is friendly. A real bustling rustic place.
google avatar

Steven C.

Yelp
The menu here is diverse and the food is excellent. Italian cuisine at its best. All fresh ingredients, all perfectly prepared. A full bar with bartenders who know how to prepare a mixed drink, and waiters who know how to properly serve wine. From the fresh bread to the bruschetta and antipasto, everything was perfect. It is worth the trip out to Rochester to dine at this establishment.

Gretchen C.

Yelp
Very average chicken parm. ordered for takeout at 5 pm to pickup at 6. Food must have been sitting ready for quite a while as it was hardly lukewarm. Chicken breast was left whole - not pounded. Very little flavor to the chicken breast. Sparse sauce. Luckily I asked whether bread was included in the bag, because there was none. Server quickly added some for me.
google avatar

Adham H.

Yelp
Dinner was decent. Got beat salad, Italian sausage soup, Bianca Pizza, lamb rack and cannolis. The waitress was on top of it, professional and quick. The cannolis were just ok. Not filled enough and the cream/ stuffing wasn't that tasty either. Would definitely go back again and try something different.

Yelp
Some of the best brick oven pizza I have had. Local place in Rochester NY. Not sure if it is the crust or really fresh toppings, or both, but the pizza is fantastic. The dining area and atmosphere is nice as well. Love this place and the fact that they are only a block away from the hotel I stay when in Rochester, NY. When in town you should definitely check it out.

Kristy W.

Yelp
We went to Veneto with friends last night and had a poor experience. It took over 20 minutes to get our drinks 1 hour 15 minutes to get our food. When we mentioned the wait time our server, we were told it was very busy night. They made no concession on the bill for the poor experience. The food was good but overpriced for the type of restaurant. Very disappointing. We will not go back. Too many other restaurants in Rochester are way better. Managers need to learn that valid customers complaints should be addressed.

Rachael C.

Yelp
The food was fantastic as usual! The server over heard us say something about a birthday and brought over a desert and thanked us for coming in. I highly recommend this restaurant. The only recommendation I have is usually they have the lights down and the ambiance is so cozy but last night the lights were on too bright for me.

Joker I.

Yelp
Caesar salad was fresh and perfectly seasoned and the pizza I got with sausage snd green peppers can't remember the name maybe rustica was one point brought half home and finished it the next day for lunch
google avatar

Dan R.

Yelp
The place was clean with good gluten free pizza. The lamb chops were also tasty. The bathrooms are well kept and the service was solid. Parking was right next door in a lot with plenty of spots reserved for their customers. I'd go back without hesitating.
google avatar

Carole S.

Yelp
Yes! My husband and I enjoyed a quaint Italian lunch in the city on a cold wintery Saturday. Parking easy - off street in their parking lot. The ambiance was perfect with nice decor and quiet Italian dining music. We both ordered the Bianca pizza, mine was gluten-free. Delicious with a chilled dry Rosé wine. Our hostess & waitress Aliyah was excellent and contributed to our very positive experience. We left with a welcome gift of a jar of Veneto pizza sauce and a Veneto Tuscan bread dip seasoning. We have heard nothing but amazing reviews of Veneto and very happy we dined here. We will definitely be back. Thanks for an awesome smile friendly dining experience.

Yelp
It's been a few years since I've eaten here, but my boyfriend recently took us for Valentine's Day. The parking is not ideal because it's mostly street side, but there is a parking lot down the block. Walking in, the brick layered walls and wooden floor create a beautiful atmosphere. The restaurant itself isn't terribly big, but being able to see the kitchen is a nice touch. The food was overall very good! I had a Caesar Salad for an appetizer, while my boyfriend had Bruschetta. For the entree, I had the Pasta Con Funghi dish, while he had a Margherita pizza. The portions were appropriate given the price of the meal itself. The pasta was delicious, but had a bit too much garlic and shallots. Regardless the food was overall fantastic and filled me up. Lastly, what made this dinner all the better was the servers. Not only were they kind and welcoming, they were attentive and always made sure we were well taken care of. Overall, my return to this restaurant was a pleasant experience, and I'd definitely recommend giving this place a shot if you want a nice Italian dinner.

Yelp
It was a Friday night and we had reservations for 7:15 and were sat shortly after that. We have never been to this one but had visited the Buffalo Road location. Luckily we were able to grab a parking spot right across the street. The restaurant is not large, but they were making due with the social distancing restrictions. You felt very safe due to the plastic screens between tables. All staff was wearing masks and were disinfecting between table turnovers. They were very attentive to all of our needs. We started out with a bottle of the house red which is made by a local Winery "Casa Larga". It was perfect as a compliment to our wood fired pizza we had decided to order. We ordered the Prime Rib pizza and split it between us. After reading the description I was really looking forward to it. I was a little disappointed, it was good but not great. More time should have been given to the creation of the pizza. It lacked a bit of flavor to the meat, overall a tad bland and not a fan of the ratio of cheese to onions, It really needed a touch more cheese and less onions. The size of the pizza was perfect for the two of us though. They offer several choices for dessert so of course we needed to finish with dessert. We order cannolis and Tiramisu. They were awesome and finished our meal perfectly. I would have given this restaurant 5 stars if not for the pizza being just OK. I will definitely give them another chance.
google avatar

Marissa N.

Yelp
I was really impressed with the seasonal specials. Service was good, all covid precautions were followed while eating outside. Staff were attentive, friendly n helpful.
google avatar

F. L.

Yelp
I was decidedly underwhelmed, especially for the price. Gnocchi was nothing special, too much bite and not especially fresh, although the included sausage wasn't bad. There's much better gnocchi in Rochester at much more downscale places, you're just paying for the atmosphere.

James R.

Yelp
What a great experience. Started with free parking. Sat at the bar, the staff are so friendly and accommodating. Stated with grilled prosciutto wraps. It was very smokey and charred. Excellent. We both ordered the rigatoni bolognese. Best I have had. Not meat sauce, real pork, beef, and veggies sauce. Wine was reasonable, and the list was large. Overall, the experience was enhanced by the staff. We will be back.

Wayne S.

Yelp
Everything was wonderful, until the end! The Buratta was to die for. Wine perfect. Gave our server was outstanding. Caesar salad fresh and nicely dressed. Rustica pizza baked to perfection. Our "dessert" Manhattan was as good as we have ever had. Then, without any prior notice we were told we needed to give up our seats at the bar. There was not statement about that when making reservations, at the door, given by the person seating us or on the menu! We were not finished with our drinks! Embarrassing, standing at the entrance to finish the Manhattans. When asked the host told us the expect tables to turn over in an hour to an hour and a half. We were there an hour and forty forty five minutes. This was bad customer service.

Tara B.

Yelp
Our first time back since they have reopened. New seating arrangements is very tight. We sat next to the bar where people could barely walk between bar patrons and my husband's chair. A table on the upper level had 4 people facing us essentially looking down at the top of my head. I understand the desire to maximize the seating but it has lost some of the cozy comfortable atmosphere and instead adds just a bit of stress as you can't help but notice customers and staff trying to navigate the tight spaces. Just had pizza and salads this time which were good. Brought a couple pizzas home for the kids and was disappointed to find the crust of one burnt beyond the ability to eat. A little burn is expected with wood fire pizza but this had become charcoal. All that said - we will be back. Veneto has been a long time favorite and we were devastated when they closed. We didn't get to try our favorite entries and we are hoping they will sort out the seating challenges.

Yelp
The Veneto Restaurant was very very nicely decorated. It had a nice bar, especially like the lighting. The waitress was very friendly and did an excellent job. Now the food. Two of my friends ordered a pasta dish with a cream sauce with no meat. I guess it was OK but nothing special The four other people got different pizzas. I got the pizza with sausage and peppers. It looked great being a cold fired. pizza taste not what I'm used to, you pick this piece of pizza it flopped i. One bite everybody knows the rules. I'm going to give it a 5.2 I think think it needs a more tasty sauce and a better quality cheese. The shaky cheese in the jar didn't really help the taste improve. now. I may seem a bit critical, but that's because I'm from the Philly area. I think 80% of the restaurants in that area are Italian restaurants. The food and pizza becomes very competitive. I don't think upstate New York is the hotbed for real good pizza. I think the chef should take a trip to Philly to some of the better pizzerias. I think it taste test would help to initiate an experimental research for a a Philly style pizza in Rochester would have people lined up around the block. the last thing now don't try to duplicate a Cheesesteak from Philly it can't be done. One more thing..you can't burn the bottom of the PIZZA!

Grace R.

Yelp
Decent pasta dishes. The special tortellini was a bit overpriced for the amount and quality. Service was swift and the complementary bread was fresh! There is street parking outside.
google avatar

Brenda O.

Yelp
First time ever going here. The staff was very friendly and polite. Our waitress was very nice and checked in with us frequently. We started off with fried calamari, it had olives, bacon and peppers.. the calamari was good , kinda salty but still flavorful. I ordered the shrimp and scallop scampi over fettuccine. It was just OK. It lacked flavor, I had to put a lot of grated cheese on it. The scallops were so tiny. I would not order that again. My friends ordered the chicken Marsala, which was bland as well and the chicken bruschetta pizza, this was very good. It had a ton of flavor. Over all I would go back.

Mitch C.

Yelp
East Avenue Friday night had reservations for 4:30 got right in no wait. Our waitress was very attentive had a couple of drinks before dinner ordered the Vodka ravioli and the chicken parmigiana both were beyond good finished with an brownie sundae "oh my god" What are you waiting for??

Yelp
Another Rochester Bucket List item for me. I love the woodfired pizza and I like how this place does not use cornmeal on their crust. Mine LOOKED a bit overdone if not burnt, but it was perfectly fine. Good cheese to sauce ratio as I love the pepperonis. They are the spicy little ones the curl up and hold the grease. I usually order it with extra but I forgot. They have dessert too. I have been coming here for years and they usually have some kind of fruit shortcake. I always order that or the tiramisu if they have it. They grill the biscuit with butter and I think honey, once you try it this way you will NEVER want it any other way. Fresh strawberries and plenty of whipped cream top it off. I was supposed to meet a friend who stood me up but had she shown up, never having been here I think she would have found it difficult to locate. It's next to a large for pay parking lot. They have a nice area on the sidewalk for outdoor seating but the umbrellas block the name on the window so if you're not exactly sure where it is, you could miss it. They need to move the umbrellas so you can see the name. This place is small but for 6pm it was not busy at all. It's a Tuesday... I was seated right away. Well after a little while of chefs and I think a manager/owner eating behind the line, stared right at me ignored me. Blatantly ignored me. I wasn't very impressed by that. I do love this place and it's noticeable lack of business worries me. It's such a gem and it's a place when I am in town I make a point to visit, I hope it's still there when I am in town next. There are specials, pasta dishes, a good wine list.

Yelp
Went for 1st time last night and wont be back for the pizza. We ordered a Margarita pizza and it was half cooked and had no basil on it. We were very disappointed and ended up eating when we got home. *It is very nicely decorated inside with a long bar to sit at.

Yelp
Shame on me for not writing a review of Veneto before now -- we have been coming here for the entire 10 years we've lived here, and it has remained consistently delicious and wonderfully warm & charming. You'll sense it as soon as you walk in -- exposed brick walls, gorgeous wooden floors, expose kitchen. The staff are always welcoming and gracious -- as if inviting you in to their home. And the food .. the food! Hard to choose between pastas and pizzas every time we come! My favorite pizza is their Margherita with the addition of chopped basil as garnish (you have to specify that about the basil). And my favorite pasta is the Prosciutto & Peas Alfredo (be sure to request extra bread for sopping up the sauce). Their salads are great, and excellent selection of wines-by-the-glass! Recently we tried a Neopolitan-style ice cream dish for dessert -- was light, yet decadent ... perfect way to conclude a lovely dinner! We've taken job-recruiting dinners here, had dates before Eastman concerts here, brought-in guests from out-of-town, eaten casual lunches here ... this place is just tip top and I am so glad to get such wonderful Italian food and friendly service here!

Yelp
It's a hidden gem in Rochester. They have great interior. The hospitality is outstanding. They have good options for pasta and wood fired pizza. It's a perfect place for date. The food yummy and the service time is less.
