“The Sofaer building was once one of the swankiest department stores in Rangoon. A century ago in Kipling’s poem, ‘Mandalay’ was beckoning the overheated imaginations of a generation of young Englishmen. Here you could buy fine Egyptian cigarettes, French liqueurs. The floor tiles were shipped over from Manchester. Now people live here. A half-century of a pariah state has left very few of these buildings in good repair. And there are divergent views on whether to preserve them. For many, a reminder of colonial subjugation; for others, vestige of a golden time.”

To be honest I don’t think I’d like the food as much as I did. Yes the price is pretty high here but so is a lot of western style type of restaurants here in Yangon it seems. It’s a pretty special thing to dine in a historic building where floorboards from the old times are still what it use. Food was not bad and a bit fusion but very flavoursome and I don’t say that about a lot of fusion restaurants

Loving both foods and vibes. Staying in center of Yangon, Sofaer&Co serves very good coffee and breakfast. All of them in restaurant are very nice and can speak English very well. Myanmar dishes are somewhat better than I have tried in the city. You can park front of the restaurant. Recommending for Bun Cha, we double it! :)

The cocktails were really good. The gin section of it had nice options. We tried two. Both were amazing. The pork green mango curry was the highlight for us. Goes great with rice. The pork neck was good too.

I had breakfast here and enjoyed the whole restaurant. It is very beautifully decorated. The Myanmar woman on the wall is impressive which is also an icon of the restaurant. The breakfast was great and we had a wonderful morning there.

A nice cafe and bar located in downtown Yangon. Really like the vibe of the bar. Vintage style and some said that the floor of the bar is made with bricks from London. Foods and drinks are good with reasonable prices. A good place to chill with your friends.

Not a big fan of fusion Asian food. Sometimes the dish looses it's identity or base. Mostly foreigners ate here. Saw the great reviews and had to try it. Was a bit disappointed.

A cute cafe for you to relax and grab a bite after seeing around the area. Regarding price, it is on the pricey side but their dishes has a delightful slight Burmese twist that you wouldn’t expect.

The ambience was great for a dinner. On the night we visited, there were only expats and tourists but no locals. We tried the scotch egg and smoked pork with sticky rice. They taste amazing and we recommend them.
