Upon arrival, I was greeted promptly and seated almost immediately. The restaurant had a cozy, welcoming atmosphere everything appeared clean and well-maintained with no clutter. I ordered the spicy shrimp tacos, which came with a verde sauce and corn, along with a cocktail from the top of the menu. The meal was served hot with a nice balance of flavors and the cocktail was excellent. My server, though new, provided attentive and pleasant service. However, the utensils at my table were dirty and even after requesting replacements, the next two spoons provided were also unclean. I eventually asked for plastic utensils instead. Overall, I would rate my experience 3 out of 5 stars. The food and service were enjoyable, but the repeated issue with dirty utensils detracted from what could have been a great dining experience.

For a Saturday night, this place was surprisingly quiet. It felt like a hidden gem in the heart of Frisco—beautifully decorated, welcoming, and intimate. Our server was kind and attentive, and he made several solid recommendations, including from the dessert menu after dinner. To start, we had the bacon and eggs (deviled eggs) and the lobster jar. Both were delectable! I don’t think any restaurants serve deviled eggs with the balance of sweet and savory that I prefer and make, but the million dollar bacon helps to make up for the lack of sweet in the egg filling. The lobster was perfectly cooked—velvety and buttery, with a hint spice—and it was paired with the perfect bread. For dinner, we had the carbonara pasta and the salmon, both of which were pretty good. My only issue with the salmon was that the menu description mentioned it was cooked in a butter sauce and served over risotto—I subbed the avocado risotto for veggie risotto per our server’s suggestion—but the salmon was so HEAVILY drizzled with some kind of balsamic sauce, that it overpowered an otherwise solid dish. Next time I would order the same thing and ask that they hold the sauce. If they are committed to keeping this sauce, they should avoid the zebra-like design and do a very LIGHT drizzle, and it would be great! Finally, we got a slice of red velvet and a slice of caramel coconut pecan cake to go. I’m not big on sweets but both cakes had the most amazing flavors—superb, really! Overall, it was a nice and unexpected experience, and I appreciate their willingness to accommodate most any substitution. We will definitely come back, though I do agree with some others that the pricing does not match the experience.

Went in with no expectations, didn’t even look at the menu. Good patio, good interior decor and friendly service. We ordered off the happy hour menu and it went until 6 which was a good time for us. Our favorites were the steak tacos and the sliders. Also really liked the dip trio. Would come back again soon.

I love J.Theodore (Frisco) - and the best part is Rare Books (SpeakEasy) its so cute. I love the lobster jar and the brussel sprouts are soooo good, I have been here several times and thought I need to leave a review. Went back last week and my favorite bartender "Quin" had left (that hurt my heart) but it was still a good experience. Colton Blue was amazing and my favorite is Alex Cantrell for some reason I keep missing him. Ill be back soon and Thanks "J.Theodore "You Rock"

We had not been here for dinner in a while, we usually go for brunch, which is very good. Well, for dinner, I was shocked at the prices. They raised the prices $3+ on EVERYTHING since last year. Truffle fries were $13, now they are $16. Tuna ahí salad was $25, now $28. My son has pasta carbonara with chicken and went from $30 to $33. Pasta!!!! The food was good, but in my opinion, not worth the new prices. We were 3 and paid $135 + tip on top for the 3 of us, with 1 appetizer and 1 glass of wine aside our entree. No dessert. The staff was overall attentive, and the setting and ambiance, particularly when you sit outside, are always fantastic. They had some music Friday night when we sat in the very charming patio, it was very nice. So it's a tradeoff of food vs price vs atmosphere. Will come back again, but maybe just for happy hour or brunch.

My husband and I made a reservation for Valentine”s Day a month out. We arrived promptly and only had to wait a few minutes for our table. There were two ladies in workout wear that walked in in front of us without a reservation. They were told to check the speak easy for a place to sit as there were no tables available. We were seated very closely to two other tables of two with two open tables for 2 near the window (not in a walkway as we were). I politely asked if we could be moved to one of the other tables and was rudely told by the very young hostess wearing a skirt that barely covered her behind that those tables were reserved for people with reservations. That made no sense to me how two tables who had no guests were to be seated in tables when I was there and was asking for us to be moved. The conversation went no where and I asked for a manager. Upon sitting the couple to my right said they had asked the same thing when they had arrived at 5:30 and those tables had been sitting empty since they arrived. I was appalled and again had to ask to see the manager. They then seated the two ladies who came in in workout wear in front of us at one of those tables! I was like “oh heck no!” We were never moved. The ladies sat there for a good 30-45 minutes drinking a cheap bottle of Prosecco which you can get in the grocery store for less than $20. The menu also turned out to be a fixed menu and when I asked about that, I was informed that everyone had been called that day and informed. When I told the manager that I had no received a phone call about the limited menu, she shrugged it off. I loved Bonnie Ruth’s. This place has kept the same menu, so I can only assume that some of the players are the same. This was such an awful experience that I will never be back. The couple next to us also felt like they had equally been treated badly. Your team is subpar. Your food is still good, but the management and FOH staff need a major overhaul. This was one of the worst Valentine’s Day dining experiences I have ever had and it was bad enough to turn me off forever.

My wife has been here a few times and really enjoys it. I went with her for the first time a few days ago and liked my meal. I had the jalapeño popper flatbread with cream cheese (fair warning: the fresh jalapeños were very hot!) and my wife ordered the steak frites, which she loves. The portions are generous, though the prices are on the higher side. There’s also a little hidden bar attached, which is a nice touch. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and the food, and my wife will keep coming back with her friends, but it’s probably not a place I’d personally visit often.

This was our first visit to J. Theodore, and we'll be back. The food was fabulous. I highly recommend the truffle parmesan fries and calamari appetizers. The highlight of our visit was the service. Brandon was personable and provided the perfect amount of attention to the table, not too much. . . not too little. He was constantly walking by to check our needs without unnecessarily interrupting the conversation. We really enjoyed chatting with him. The assistant servers were also great about keeping drinks refilled as needed. Overall, this was a wonderful experience.

This place is absolutely amazing. The ambiance is relaxed with a great deal of style. I greatly recommend the "smoky" Old Fashioned; the taste and the presentation is an experience. The food is wonderful. I recommend the Meatballs al Forno appetizer which was incredible and the Chicken Paillard made my evening. Highly recommend it. The service was excellent. Needra and Cameron were rockstars. The speakeasy was experience that I will try again. I highly recommend it.

Okay, this place wasn't terrible, but it's certainly not impressive. This is the second time I've been here, and both times I was unimpressed, but this time pissed me off. I came in for happy hour, and don't get me wrong, service here has always been great, but I ordered the charcuterie board, and that was a mistake. They put four slices of small salami folded up on a skewer, three thick slices of cheese, and a pile of rabbit food, and called it a day. The jam was fine, the nuts were fine, the bread was nice, and the cheese was tasty, but they put the absolutely minimum amount of meat to allow them to claim that there was a "chefs selection of meats and cheeses" on the board. If I could use profanity in these reviews I would have in this one. Offensively little meat in the meat and cheese board.

They could approve on making their food fresh, eggs Benedict are they had any hollandaise sauce on it had to order a side, they didn't even know what kind of ham they serve at the restaurant. The staff was so busy watching the soccer game that they didn't even care. Severely overpriced for what you get this restaurant has severely gone downhill in the past five years . The omelette was so thin I could not believe my eyes could've made it better at home or could've gone to IHOP . My bill was 150 bucks with tip will never die there again . Haven't even heard from the owners or anyone to respond to My recent review posted last week.

J Theodore's - Disappointing Experience I've been to J Theodore's before and really enjoyed it, especially the mussels, but this visit was extremely disappointing. * Food: The mussels were $40, yet tiny, overcooked, and nearly half the shells were empty. The two slices of toast served alongside were cold and stale. The $14 truffle fries were also cold and had absolutely no truffle flavor. * Service: The service felt unprofessional and careless. With 12 people in our group, the tip was automatically added--but the staff seemed to take that as a reason not to try. * Value: For mussels, fries, and one drink, my bill came to $84. The quality of food and service did not come close to justifying that price. Overall, this was a disappointing night out--bad food, bad service, and outrageous prices for what was offered. Sadly, it was nothing like the positive experience I had in the past.

We slipped behind the hidden bookshelf and stepped into a whole vibe! The Lavender Lemon Drop was perfection, and that roasted chicken with candied carrots and mashed potatoes? Unreal. My husband tore up the seafood pasta one of the best we've ever had and he enjoyed all five of the Hard Rocks Dussi. Next time we will have pics!!!

I love coming here but I hate the prices! We enjoy the cocktails and ambiance (this time there was a huge group of obnoxious ladies but they were having fun). We love the deviled eggs with candied bacon to start. We normally get the sliders and fries but this time we split a burger French style. The staff is always great and they make celebrations special. I love their Brussels but $18 for a side of veggies is just a bit much. I don't care for the small space of the speakeasy.

I went here for a brunch baby shower that my friends threw for me and the outside is so beautiful. It was a small party about 10 of us and they sat us right by the fireplace which was amazing because it was a little chilly in November. Our waiter was so nice and kept asking if people wanted to order drinks as they arrived opposed to having to wait, and the guest loved that. I can't speak to the drinks as I'm pregnant but they did make me a virgin strawberry drink that was very flavorful. However, the same cannot be said for the entree. Biscuits were great but the chicken and waffles fell flat. The waffle was very dry and had no taste while the breading on the chicken was soggy and tasted like nothing. While the food I ordered wasn't good, some of the things my guest ordered was; such as the Benedict and steak and eggs. I will give this place another try but will not order that entree again.

I love J Theodore. It's my go to for a double date or delicious dessert (I love the chocolate raspberry cake). I've been three times in the last 4 months, so I've got some things to share with you. Sometimes the service is a little lackluster. People doing a job. Not terrible or even a little bad, just unmemorable. The food is very good which makes up for that. In the evenings they dim the lights and it's intimate, especially if you've got a booth. Brunch is great, with the exceptional note that they do not have specialty milks. No almond, no oat, no 2%. Whole milk only. For a place that claims to have barista service (and not just a server making a coffee), I find this shocking. But again, the food is VERY GOOD (see photos). Dang it. I love love love their chocolate raspberry cake. I won't tell you how many times I've popped in for a slice of cake, but we'll just say it would be embarrassing. They also sell cakes and I've heard cupcakes?! With advanced ordering. As for food, take a look at my pics for details.

I wasn't planning on sitting down at J Theodore, especially not at 10:30pm on a Saturday night, but the Rare Books Bar quoted us a 30-60 min wait (Separate review for them). We decided to grab drinks, truffle fries, and a slice of cake. Service was good! Nothing notable, but nothing to complain about either. The ambiance was interesting, it is definitely upscale, but there was a DJ playing extremely loud club music with awful transitions between songs. A handful of people were dancing too. Food and Drink review: -Eye of the Tiger Cocktail: It was okay. It tasted almost a little powdery, like there was emergenC sitting in it. No where near worth $17 -Guinness: it is what it is....for $8, seemed a bit steep, but it was fine -Parm truffle fries: hardly any parm, fries were just alright. Serving size was decent -Strawberry and lemon cake: Also just okay. The serving was large, but it was notably cold and not particularly moist. This isn't on par with the typical slices I've gotten from here in the past Overall, 3 stars because we left feeling disappointed. For upwards of $65, two drinks (one of them being a beer), fries, and a slice of cake was not something worth writing home about. We won't be returning.

Had an order to go it was a bust weekend, none the less such a good spot. Want to return and enjoy the food with good company. Staff was friendly.

I'm so mad at myself for not grabbing our server's name. He was just fantastic! Kind, patient, informative, and took pride in his job. My brunch here at J Theodore was fine, nothing too crazy. But the ambiance and serve team really made the experience great. I did order just a plain traditional breakfast and I'd get it again. I can't wait to return to try their delicious cakes!

Good Food, service and ambiance! They have good cocktails too. Their Burrata toast is delicious. I loved the grilled portobello tacos, minimalistic but flavorful and filling. Been here twice, we always have a good time! Highly recommend this place.

This speakeasy is nestled in a strip mall. The place is small and intimate. You just go behind the bookshelf. They play live music that is good. Our waitress was very nice and quick. I ordered a cosmopolitan but was convinced I must try the espresso martini. It was delicious! Before this I've only had one at Del Friscos is NYC and it was horrible. They do have a small menu. We ordered the eggs and bacon. By the time the night ended I was in good spirits. Super bummed tho I left or lost my Christian Dior wallet somewhere there.

J. Theodore is by far one of the greatest restaurants I've tried in Frisco. Upscale dining without the upscale price. I'd say it falls middle of the road as far as pricing is concerned. With that being said it fits every occasion. Just dropping in for a nice lunch/dinner or coming in to celebrate or have a drink. Great food, great service and great drinks. Could not recommend this place enough! If you need a place to come eat in Frisco come here no questions asked.

This place could be so much more. It just seams like the owner must be an absentee owner. Don't get me wrong it is still a nice place just not anything special. They have an outdoor patio that would be great for a 1man band or something. And the food is not as good as the previous Bonnie Ruth's. Hopefully they step it up or I guess they will just fade away and it will become something else .

Sunday brunch here is popping! There is a DJ, music is booming, lots of birthday celebrations going around. The restaurant itself is gorgeous! I love how modern yet warm the decor was! The food was really good! My friend and I ordered two dishes to share: French toast and country ham omelette. Note: this might not be the best spot to talk and converse, unless you're prepared to talk loudly!

Recently dined here for dinner on a Friday evening celebrating a friend's belated birthday. We had a reservation so there was no wait to be seated. The dining area was semi-upscale and clean. We decided to move over to a different area where there was live music and a more relaxed atmosphere. We kept it simple and ordered pulled pork sandwiches, truffle fries and a few alcoholic beverages. The food was pretty tasty and drinks were on point. The service was excellent! Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and made us feel welcome. Definitely a thumbs up if you're in the area and looking for speakeasy-style dining.

I've been here quite a few times for dinner and brunch and it never disappoints! Some nights they have an acoustic artist in the patio area and inside there's a DJ playing old school hip hop and R&B.

Well, J. Theodore certainly delivered... just not in the way anyone would hope. Let's start with the food: one of the three of us barely touched his overpriced entrée--which I suppose is a creative take on "light dining." The Brussels sprouts appetizer? A bold choice if they were aiming for "inedible." The berry salad managed to be just okay, and the Margherita flatbread? Let's call it dough-forward--because it was clearly shy of being fully cooked. But the real star of the show was our waitress, who clearly mistook an almost-empty restaurant for a fast-paced airport terminal. She noticed one of us hadn't eaten his meal and, instead of the usual "Is everything alright?", she ups the charm by offering a to-go box mid-bite. Classy. And for the grand finale, she returns to the table and loudly asks how we want to split the bill--as though three corporate executives out for dinner needed to Venmo each other $35.00. I had heard the place had gone downhill, but this was a whole new level of "don't bother." Bad food, worse service. That was our last visit

I've been to J Theodore a few times and have had a good experience overall. Sunday mornings can feel a bit loud and fast-paced if you're looking for a lazy brunch vibe, but the evenings are fantastic. I love their cute little speakeasy for a swanky night out with drinks and food, though the main restaurant is also enjoyable. The food is consistently good, and it's always a pleasant spot to visit.

I've been wanting to try here for a long time and I am so glad we finally did. We sat in the back patio which is absolutely the cutest thing. Felt like another world and the music playing was great! Everything from third eye blind to Elvis, very cool. We booked a reservation online through Open Table for Friday at 630, but it was pretty quiet and could have walked right in. Service was good. Never waited for anything and water glasses always filled. Our food... jar of lobster and a pesto Flatbread for starter. The jar was the reason the hubby wanted to go. I read a lot of mixed reviews but we loved it. There was a lot of lobster and the butter garlic juice was great. Yes its pricey but it's lobster so not surprising to me. The Flatbread was very large. It was good but nothing to write home about. Pretty pricy for a pretty basic pizza. That would be the biggest drawback here... most items feel over priced. Spring salad with no meat for $20? French fries for an app for $14? A $25 Flatbread? Burrata for $21? And believe me, I'm more than happy to spend $36 for a tiny jar of lobster but many things just didn't seem like they should be as high as marked. He got the French dip. It was good. Not the best we have had but good. Now... me... I got the scallops with risotto and it was possibly one of the best scallop dishes I've had in a long time. The scallops were huge, large portion of creamy risotto and I thought the balsamic drizzle was a great touch. I will be dreaming of that for a long time to come.

My fiance and I came here for our Wednesday date night - and we were not disappointed . I love their decorations with all the beautiful art and the way their lighting is set up. Our waitress was a sweetheart. The food was delicious. For appetizers, we opted for the lobster in a jar and mussels in marniere sauce. Both were delicious and a must try - arguably some of the best mussels we have had here in DFW. As for the main dishes, he grabbed the fried chicken sandwich, and I had the salmon ( upon the waitress's rec ) . Easily some of the best salmon I've had at a restaurant . It had a perfect crust and the sauce it's paired with was super tasty . I'm honestly salivating just thinking about it right now . We both agreed we would come back here .

First thing I'd like to say is the service is fantastic. Came here with my girls for a birthday HH and Seth was so attentive and accommodating to our needs. The food was unbelievably delicious- we had the margherita flatbread, calamari, truffle fries, and shrimp cocktail and nothing disappointed. Their mango salsa (served with shrimp cocktail) is fantastic, but it would be perfect if they had chips to go with it as well. While the shrimp cocktail has some pretty good size shrimp (medium to big), I feel like $16 is a bit expensive for just 4 shrimp. The dinner items can be a little pricey but their happy hour food and drink menu is all you need. The atmosphere is very hip and trendy. I love the lighting and it's not too loud at all. Definitely would choose this place again for a date night or happy hour spot.

I hate having to write this. I agree with the other poor reviews. This place has gone way down hill. If you are going to charge top dollar, which they do, almost over priced IMO, then it better deliver. Our server appeared to be new and while he was very kind he didnt seem ready to be on the floor. Our deviled eggs weirdly had a very "chemical/dish water" taste to them, we did not finish them. My step sons pasta was tasty but at $31 for a chicken pasta that seemed steep. I ordered the tuna tacos and asked for the mango relish on the side, I'm allergic to onions. The relish was not left off so they took my dish back and when they brought it out I could see the tuna, which looked nice but it was just raw tuna. No marinade, no seasoning no nothing so the flavor was beyond BLAH. Hubby had cripsy sweet chili sandwich..said it was just breading and barely any sauce to boot. Not sure at that price point we will be back. Dallas has too many other great places...this makes me sad.

we went to tonight (July 23, 2025) to celebrate our daughter's birthday. We have been going to this location since it was previously Bonnie Ruth's. what disturbed me about this visit was they closed down the kitchen and the bakery area at 9:15 PM. It would not have been so bad if they would've told us because added a 12 adults that were there 10 of them came, especially for the desserts. To only be told that we could not buy a dessert to go even though they were just sitting there. Eight business owners who understand good customer services is, and that's not what we received tonight. Nevertheless, we will be back again, but hopefully this message falls on the right ears. And their customer service improves.

The food was delicious but the evening was ruined by trying to get into the speakeasy. We told the hostess we were going there and the waitress while we were dining. No one mentioned you could need a reservation if they were full. When we arrived there were vacant tables and we were told we needed a reservation. Also there would be a 45 min wait at that point he opened the door for us to leave. I called the manager after and she was less than helpful and only said that she will address it when the staff. I told her we had spent well over 200 on dinner and this put a damper on our night. She seemed to careless and didn't even offer a free appetizer to try to get us to return. Very poor customer service and will never go back

Completely mediocre and not worth the cost. This place has prices like a fine dining restaurant in a bar atmosphere. Date night for two = $250. That's absurd. All cocktails are $18-20 each. I got the scallops for $44 and I received four small scallops, with 80% of the plate being risotto (I've had jumbo scallops before, these were not it). Calamari ($23) was a tiny basket of super small and hard pieces of calamari rings. Service was mediocre at best. If you're paying these kind of prices, service should be excellent. Don't waste your money, go spend the same amount at a fine dining restaurant that's actually worth it!

Very good and plentiful but pricey menu. Comfy chairs. I enjoyed the spicy chicken sandwich with truffle fries a lot, but don't think it was worth $28. Service was very inattentive. Had to keep calling waiter over for missing items, wanting to order and even to pay our bill. Just know it's expensive.

I'm so glad I found this place on a recommendation from a friend when I happened to be in the Frisco area. The ambience is very upscale without being stuffy. It has a sophisticated eclectic vibe. There were a lot of art deco nods to the decor as well. Very cute place to go out with the girls or bring a date. The service was amazing. Very attentive, and Kim went above and beyond to make sure my food and experience was top notch. The food looked too good so I had to try the fries AND a pasta entree, and she had stopped by to check if I wanted those fries first so I could eat them hot before the entree. I loved that attention to detail! Let's talk about the food.....SO DELICIOUS!! The fries were hot, and instead of having seasoning sprinkled on top you can tell they properly seasoned them by placing in a container/bowl and tossing the seasoning to coast well before plating. This meant I never had a disappointing bite. Fries are a simple food so you have to execute them perfectly to elevate the experience and J. Theodore managed to do that. I also got the chicken pesto penne. I originally was going to take home half (bc of the fries) but it tasted so good I couldn't stop eating it!! They asked if I wanted any red pepper or cheese but I opted out to taste it as it's served and it had the perfect amount of flavor and cheese I'm glad I didn't alter it. The meal was hot, the chicken cooked perfectly so it wasn't dry, and the pesto cream sauce was divine. 10 out of 10 for both of the items I tried. Overall, you must come here. I live about an hour away but I will be coming back. I'm excited to try the dinner menu and they have a little secret speakeasy I'd like to check out too. I highly recommend you give this place a try if you are looking for something upscale but still with welcoming service and tasty food options that are both simple and complex. There really is something for even the pickiest eaters.

My husband and I went here for a date night about a month ago. The resteraunt ambiance is so quaint and cozy. We sat outside on the patio and it was so cute. Our waiter was excellent. We had the calamari which unfortunately was a let down as it was over cooked. I ate the salmon which was delicious! My husband had the seafood pasta which was done perfectly. Overall I would still give 5 stars becsuse the calamari tasted good it was just chewy.

I had my wife's birthday party/dinner at J. Theodore tonight. We sat on the patio. The server was so nice and worked hard to take good care of us. We had a rough start because the restaurant didn't record our request properly - but they figured it out and it all worked out. The food was good - especially the chicken and pasta dishes. The Steak Frites were generally overcooked but edible. The Red Velvet Cake was pre-ordered to celebrate her birthday - and it was AMAZing! The restaurant has great ambiance, and you would think the patio would be hot. But with the fans, the shade and the breeze - it was a fun time! Thanks to the wait staff as they did a great job!

Not sure if it's a racial thing but we made a reservation on open door at 5pm but when we got there the hostess said that that the restaurant was fully booked so they automatically kick all of the "open door reservations" to the patio. I thought it was ridiculous because it was 105 degrees outside and there were so many empty tables. We sat outside for maybe 5 minutes before my husband got up to say something. They said they were fully booked but they said the next reservation for the indoor table was at 7:30pm. Which I thought was ridiculous because our reservation was at 5pm which is plenty of time to eat before the next reservation. They ultimately "let" us eat indoors after we complained and even during the whole meal, none of the other tables were even occupied when we finished eating around 7. So much for "fully booked". I call BS. During the meal, I watched the hostess try to seat another Asian family outside too which they declined. Food was okay, I wouldn't come back for the restaurant but the speakeasy was nice. Drinks are cheap and nice ambiance. They had live music was well.. Our favorite drink was the cherry bourbon smash.

I have been hearing about J Theodore from everyone in the neighborhood. Their recommendation did not disappoint. You need to check out this place right now! The server picked a cocktail for me and it was tantalizing. Sorry, I can't remember the name but show your server the picture and s/he will know. Yum. The mussels were hands down the best part of the meal. It was so good that I took the sauce home so I could toss it in some noodles. The Garlic Parmesan Fries were fine. I liked the Scallops but the Risotto was slightly undercooked. The Spicy Shrimp Salad was fantastic but $24 for a salad is outrageous. The Jar of Lobster is tiny but the bread soaks up the sauce really well and I enjoyed that. I took home the recommended Blueberry cake and it was amazing. I want to go back to J Theodore just to try all of their cakes. $10 for a massive slice of cake.

Stoped by J Theodore on the way to shop at Legacy West and it did not disappoint. Take my advice. If you want something light and savory, try the chicken Milanese salad. I did not expect it to be that good, but it was exceeded my expectations. Service was great, drinks were fire, go here for great food and good vibes.

This was the first time we had been to J Theodore and I am very mixed about it. The atmosphere is pretty lively and appropriate for a Saturday night. We were seated by the patio door so every time the door opened a cold breeze came and swooped through our table blowing our menus around, which was a little annoying. Our server was very nice and as attentive as she could be for as busy as they were. We started with a cocktail, a glass of wine and the jar of lobster. My cocktail was delightful but definitely not worth the $19 price tag. The jar of lobster was delicious and quite honestly would order that again. You got plenty of lobster and they brought us extra bread to dip in the butter which was also really good. Our entrées were the short rib gnocchi and I thought it was average at best. Nothing to rave about but nothing to complain about either. Overall, it was a mediocre experience for the price tag, but I would go back and try other things on the menu and maybe go back on an evening where they're not as busy. We also went to rare books bar for a night cap and that was one of the best cocktails I ever had in my life. Huckleberry Finn. You'll thank me later.

This place is sliding downhill fast. With all of the other choice's in Frisco it will be a miracle if they make it. First of all, they are insanely over priced for the overall food, atmosphere etc. The food has become absolutely awful. I'm not sure if they are trying to cut corners or what. My husband and I split a margarita pizza. I honestly thought we'd been given cheese bread by accident. There was no red sauce, no tomatoes and maybe one leaf of basil. The rest was just cheese. The flatbread itself was undercooked and inedible. For 20+ dollars I could've had so many other great meals at better restaurants. It wasn't very busy at all on a Saturday night so I presume others are seeing the same thing I saw. It's a shame because I used to love this restaurant-- especially when it was Bonnie Ruth's. I hadn't been for a while and hopefully won't be going back.

Disappointingly overhyped. The food was okay. Very overpriced the the quality you get. What is impressive is the decor & beautiful outdoor eating area. Great vibe but the hostess & waitress were just okay. Not super friendly or welcoming. I would say this is a beautiful place to stop by for a cocktail maybe but I won't come back.

This place lived up to the hype. We chose this restaurant for our New Years Eve dinner and we couldn't have picked a better place. We had the jar of lobster as an appetizer and it was so good. Lobster in a jar full of delicious butter and toasted bread to eat it with...could you ask for much more?!? I had the salmon which came with avocado risotto and a diver scallop. It was delicious. We also ordered the diver scallops which was served with vegetable risotto which was equally as amazing. We were too full for any desserts but I am sure they would have been really great too. Definitely a place you go to for a really good meal.

It is a fun place for a classy night out. The ambiance is fantastic. I made a reservation two days before. Cocktails . Everything is yummy here--great live music. There was nice outdoor seating as well, with an outdoor fireplace I ordered frosè and old-fashioned Don Quixote drinks, and the food was good with the flavors, but not all were yummy. For soups, I ordered a French onion soup. The broth was salty; the soup du jour was creamy with chicken and corn .and the cast iron jumbo shrimp with homemade reduction had a strong presence of garlic. The ambiance was perfect the unique artwork on the walls, the great light fixtures, the cool bar, and the styling. Service was quick and attentive.

Our family had dinner on 08/18/2022 and were seated in the patio. The restaurant was fairly busy. All the tables had patrons but for a few where it was still wet from the rain. We were lead to one of those wet areas and I politely requested for a dry area near the patio door. The hostess accommodated. My biggest complaint would be the service. Our server was short and rude. I understand that she was busy. Since COVID, that's to be expected. When I asked her whether a certain cocktail was sweet, she said that she did not know and that she was not a bartender. I've never had a server say that. All the servers that had before would've said, "Let me find out." She was not a new server. Also, I asked her if they had fresh grapefruit juice for their cocktails. She said that they do not. I was quite shocked. I asked if she could check, because if you guys advertise as a Craft Cocktail place, then you would have fresh fruit juices. Specifically, on its website "delicious hand-juiced cocktails." At any rate, I told her to give me a few minutes. I didn't know what I wanted to drink at that point. Later on when she brought out our food, she stated flatly, "we do have grapefruit juice." The shrimp flatbread was not good. The shrimps were cut in half. There were approximately five half shrimps on the flatbread. For $21?!?!? The sauce was very heavy and the bread was stale. I am a carb lover. I would've eaten the bread alone and removed the topping. However, the bread was so stale, I didn't eat it. The mussels were a joke. They were super tiny from being over cooked. You can see in the pictures. These were definitely the worst mussels I've ever had. I did not complain. I did not eat them. I just wanted to leave. Everything was terrible. I would never go back. Also, they're not bar food prices. With that said, I expected the food and service to be better. I'm just gonna stick with TruFire next door. I've been there at least 6 times in the last year.

Atmosphere is nice outside on the patio. The inside is smaller and I love sitting out more than in. The food is ok would I eat here again sure cause the atmosphere is real nice but is it Michelin style food no. This is your typical Frisco crowd and food. It's the ambiance and wait staff that makes this place. The drinks are pretty good this day though they were out of champagne..how and why?!

Really good food. Quick service. They Refilled water frequently. The outside patio is a vibe with lights around the trees

J Theodore is a quant bistro located in Frisco, Texas. My husband and I like to come here for brunch, on the weekend. The food is good and there is a wonderful DJ that really creates the perfect ambience. Today I came for lunch and had the French onion soup and the spring mix salad. The service was great! The French onion soup was good, but it was a little on the sweet side which I thought was odd. I've had the potato soup before and that is really good. The salad was fresh and I would definitely have that again. I sat out on the patio, which gives you a feeling of being in the Mediterranean.

Service was great! Ambience is pretty especially the patio area! We went here for a birthday and got a couch for 10 people which was great! And its in the surburbs which is always a plus. All the cocktails were great! Just pricey. We got the scallops, parmesean fries, chicken flatbread. All good! The calamari was good too. The only downside to this restaurant is the price of the cocktails.

Nothing special; sister restaurant The Glen does not disappoint. Patio is very nice. The food was good. Drinks were alright, but several drinks on the menu were not available.

Brunch, Happy Hour, Lunch - All reasons that I've visited JA and will continue to find options at this location. Food choices are familiar - salads, sandwiches, brunch options - with dessert options and cocktails. Always impressed when they serve that woodsy, smoky drink - haven't had it, but have seen and smelled the presentation. Recommend brunch in the courtyard when the weather is warm. Do not recommend seating towards the front when it is cold out (as you'd get a whiff of cold air each time the door opens.)

Had the greatest time with my girlfriends for brunch at J Theodore! Recommend making a reservation. We sat on the patio which is a gorgeous courtyard. The mimosa flight was an excellent choice that comes with a bottle of bubbles plus three juices of your choice. I also enjoyed the avocado toast & a side of bacon. Very filling with lots of goodies on top of my toast. Definitely a great spot to eat and enjoy with friends!

The times I've gone here I have enjoyed the food but I think they are lacking in management. The service isn't that great! I had an awful experience with their reservations. I made them a week prior and last minute they got a big party so they seated up all the way in the back on a low coffee table right next to the bathrooms. Made us pay our bill before we even ate and after that we never saw our server again. When I went to go look for our server she was rude and avoided us (assuming that we had already tipped) so she didn't have to wait on us anymore.

This restaurant has it all! Amazing food, beautiful atmosphere, amazing cocktails and even a speak easy inside. Servers have always been friendly and nice. We love it! Have been coming for years and will be here on Valentine's Day this year! So excited: can't wait to be back!
