Copenhagen Central Station is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks and a place I pass through almost every day. It’s not just a transportation hub but a beautiful historic building that has served as Copenhagen’s main gateway since it opened in 1911. Designed by architect Heinrich Wenck, the station combines grand arches, warm wooden interiors, and classic Danish details that make it feel both functional and timeless.
It's the third central station Copenhagen has had. The previous one stood just a few meters away, but the rapid growth in rail traffic made it necessary to build the current, much larger version. Another detail people love is the main hall’s wooden ceiling, inspired by traditional Nordic architecture.
Today the station is busy from early morning to late evening, with trains, buses, shops, cafés, and people heading in every direction. Despite the crowds, it’s surprisingly easy to navigate and remains one of the most reliable meeting points in the city.
For our tours, we meet under the big central clock in the main hall, which has been a classic meeting spot for more than a century. It’s the perfect place to start a walk through Copenhagen, as the station sits right on the edge of the historic center.
Whether you’re arriving in the city, grabbing a coffee, or starting one of our guided tours, Copenhagen Central Station is a place full of character, history, and movement.
