The Best Soups in Phoenix, Arizona | Eater Phoenix

"While Cornish Pasty Co. has been a Mill Avenue staple for two decades thanks to its extensive menu of pasties, its other, lesser-known menu items shouldn’t be overlooked. On a cold winter day, there’s no soup more comforting than the classic tomato, and this homemade version with croutons will warm you right up. Pair it with one of their pasties (we recommend trying the Italian) or opt for the classic grilled cheese to complete your meal." - Jamie Phillis

The most delicious thing I tried was the cranberry sour beer—it was genuinely unforgettable and far better than anything I ate that night. The pastry was quite good as well, but the drink truly stood out. I also really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place; it had a classic, cool vibe that made the entire experience feel warm, relaxed, and memorable.

12/13/25: we have been to Cornish Pasty so many times, I can't believe I never reviewed it until now. Let me right that wrong. It's wonderful! Over the years & after multiple visits, there has never been a bad one. The food is always delicious. IMPORTANT NOTE: the pasties are pre-made; you cannot ask for substitutes or to leave this or that item out. Do not worry, however, as I am picky (don't like onions or peppers), but I have never had an issue with finding something to eat here. The house made bread is absolutely aaaah-mazing. Hell, I could eat multiple plates of it alone for my meal. Thick slices of goodness. The drinks are hit or miss, though we have never had an issue with a simple Old Fashioned. :-) It's a bit dark inside, they have a substantial patio on the north side of the building, and the staff has always been friendly. The parking is not bad as it is part of small strip mall, but don't expect to always be able to park immediately close to Cornish (especially during busy times). Looking forward to many more visits to Cornish!

This place has a very cool vibe. The pool table was a hit with our boys. The portions are hearty and the food is always tasty. We always make sure to stop here when we’re in Arizona.

You should only come here if you love amazing food, great atmosphere, and top-notch customer service. This was my first time coming here, so my friend and I split a Guinness stew pasty and a rosemary steak pasty, along with a broccoli & cauliflower cheese bake and garlic & herb roasted red potatoes. All of it was 10/10 and utterly scrumptious. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while. Having lived in New York City, I’ve really been craving an Irish pie, and the Guinness beef stew pie sounded perfect. I’ll start with the negatives so I can end on a positive note. I have mixed feelings overall. While the crust was absolutely beautiful, I ordered a wine gravy and unfortunately did not receive it. The dish is also fairly expensive, especially when ordering through DoorDash. Not filled as the pictures they posted The filling surprised me. There was a lot of cheese—almost calzone-like—which isn’t what I expect from a traditional Guinness beef stew pie. The gravy was very minimal, and texturally it felt a bit off. It seemed like something was missing, and the flavors didn’t quite come together the way I expected. That said, there were definitely positives. The pie had good flavor/quality overall, the ingredients were high quality, and it was visually stunning. I was very hungry, and despite my reservations, I ate almost the entire thing—especially after making my own gravy to go with it. To me, it didn’t feel like a traditional pasty, though I could be wrong and I’m open to being corrected. All in all, the flavors were good, the quality was there, and it was a beautiful dish—just one where some elements conflicted with each other.

1st time here on St. Patrick's Day. They were slammed! But this guy helped us out. Gave me a free pint of Guinness for the wait. Then I had 2 more 😊 I've been craving a ice cold Guinness🍺 for quite some time, and it was delicious!! Then my waiter asked if I wanted an Irish Car Bomb?? And I said YES PLEASE!!! Oh, it was amazing! I haven't had one in years, and they serve them every day for $5.00?! Then I ordered my Pastie. I was in heaven! Absolutely delicious! Green chili, rice, seasoned pork, and I think cheese. My new favorite food to eat in Tempe, Az. My family and I go at least once a week. The staff was friendly and the tone of the restaurant is chill. I truly enjoyed my evening. I recommend this place if you are in the area. 👍🏼

Came here for dinner after watching a movie at the local theater. Wonderful meals and food. Well attended by the server and no issues with anything. Only reason I misused a star for atmosphere is the seating/table are wonderful but due to some of the booth sitting. Makes it a tad hard to sit in or get out of them without needing to shift the table away each time. Besides that minor issue. It was a wonderful time.

If you want to be transported to a British pub, the Cornish Pasty Co. will take you there. We ordered two types and they came cut in half, which was perfect. One whole pasty was very filling, so we didn't need appetizers or dessert. The crust was thin, crispy and a little buttery which was perfection! I find that too often the crust is thick and too bread-y, which takes away from the filling. These were stuffed with the filling of choice. The quality of the pasty vs. the price point was perfect. Highly recommend if you're looking for a comforting, filling meal in a fun pub-like atmosphere.
