I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while. Having lived in New York City, I’ve really been craving an Irish pie, and the Guinness beef stew pie sounded perfect.
I’ll start with the negatives so I can end on a positive note. I have mixed feelings overall. While the crust was absolutely beautiful, I ordered a wine gravy and unfortunately did not receive it. The dish is also fairly expensive, especially when ordering through DoorDash. Not filled as the pictures they posted
The filling surprised me. There was a lot of cheese—almost calzone-like—which isn’t what I expect from a traditional Guinness beef stew pie. The gravy was very minimal, and texturally it felt a bit off. It seemed like something was missing, and the flavors didn’t quite come together the way I expected.
That said, there were definitely positives. The pie had good flavor/quality overall, the ingredients were high quality, and it was visually stunning. I was very hungry, and despite my reservations, I ate almost the entire thing—especially after making my own gravy to go with it.
To me, it didn’t feel like a traditional pasty, though I could be wrong and I’m open to being corrected. All in all, the flavors were good, the quality was there, and it was a beautiful dish—just one where some elements conflicted with each other.
