400+ years of charm. Loved it. We went twice, first on a dinner reservation when we were seated upstairs, and later on a whim at the bar late one evening. Both experiences were great. Service, and servers, are wonderful and warm. We loved the food. The atmosphere in the bar is exceptional. We were there in winter, so it probably was much less crowded. Try and find a time outside the busiest so you can enjoy this gem? It's fantastic.

A Historic Gem in Seville—Delicious Tapas and Wonderful Service! We visited El Rinconcillo, the oldest bar and tapas restaurant in Seville, Spain, and it truly lived up to its reputation. We arrived without a reservation and waited right at opening time — a good tip is to arrive early, as it gets busy and lines form quickly. We started with a refreshing local sangria, which was delicious and perfect for the sunny day (October 9, 2025). Then we ordered a variety of dishes: Boquerones (fried fish), Espinacas con Garbanzos, Huevos con Chorizo, and Carrillada Ibérica en Salsa. OMG—the last one was absolutely amazing! The meat was tender, juicy, and the sauce was rich and flavorful. The customer service was excellent, and I want to give special recognition to the Colombian server, who was fantastic — courteous, friendly, and very professional. I highly recommend El Rinconcillo for anyone visiting Seville. The authentic flavors, historic atmosphere, and warm hospitality make it a truly unforgettable experience. ¡Bravo!

A great experience! We decided to go for a sit-down meal upstairs and it was very pleasant. The food was lovely, even if not exactly what we thought we ordered. The two waitresses who looked after us were extremely pleasant and great to talk to (in my poor Spanish). We had a drink in the bar after. What a unique experience!

This was the highlight of my trip, and I came here twice to try as many dishes as possible. A vibe and buzz that you cannot find anywhere else in Seville. The food was absolutely incredible and consistent. The service was a bit chaotic but in the best way where you can tell it’s how the place runs on the high energy. You stand and eat, and they whip out all these dishes from freshly cut ibérico to chickpeas and spinach, or fresh tuna. I’ll dream of this spot!!!

It’s definetely a place to go in Seville. Don’t forget to book a spot in advance. We ordered Prawn and Tuna fish (which was daily stew) and both were delicious. And we ordered house wine next to it. It’s ended up with a local desert and it was a bit intensive but worths to give it a try. Special thanks to Marta to helping us a lot with her sincerity and sincerity 😍

There were people queuing waiting for it to open. We ate at the bar and the bartender chalked the price of our orders infront of us. It was lively and full of excitement, with dishes coming thick and fast from the kitchen. The food was delicious and there were people queuing outside waiting for a space. Well worth the wait. A unique sensory experience and the best Hake I've ever had.

It was incredible. Had the opportunity to stay at the bar and the experience was amazing. Food was great, drinks were great and the place is incredible. Make sure to arrive at the opening hours, it will be full very quickly and you’ll have to wait a lot as people enjoy staying there for quite a while.

Oldest bar in Seville so when we visited we definitely had to make it a point to eat here. We were a group of 5 and sadly we were not able to get a reservation so we settled for the standing section and it was still a fun experience for us. We came multiple times and ordered a variety of tapas and wine. Our favorites were the croquettes as well as the membrillo with manchego cheese. On our list for our next Seville vacation!

This is the oldest bar in Sevilla with 350 years old. Insane. I came here one night to meet a friend. There was a line so had to wait a little before going in. Once inside its the real deal. We were in the bar area downstairs in a corner standing up. But we still got good service from our waiter. The place was full but it felt like we all knew each other. Taking photos for other groups/smiling and simply enjoying life. That's how I felt while I was here. We had croquetas that were delicious. The ensaladita (salad) also very flavorful and we had fried cod and it was crispy on the outside and tender inside plus seasoned very well. We had red wine and beers and we talked and laughed for a few hours. You can feel the history in this cool bar. If you go to Sevilla, el Rinconcillo is a must!

Walked in to sit on 2nd floor. As we did not want to be at bar area after a long day of walking in rhe city. Got a corner table on 2nd floor and we order some wine and sparkling water to start. Our tapas were : Stewed cuttle fish with home made mash potatoes (todays special) duck pate and a creamy gaspacho. All the food was excellent, every dish prepared perfectly. The cuttle fish was amazing, necer had it stewed, wow tender and flavorfull. The mashed potatoes were creamy and perfectly seasoned The duck paté had a orange and strawberry marmalade and baguette toast points. The gazpacho was unlike anything i've had in the USA. This creamy concoction was well seaslned and it had a small side dish with small dice of cucumber, hard boiled egg, pepper and onion and of course you need some crusty bread! The bread they serve is rustic and delicious- perfect for soaking up the soup and the sauce from the stew. Had a great meal, perfect lunch after a long walk.

The restaurant was very crowded when we visited it on Fri lunch time. There was a queue of people waiting. All tables have been booked so we had tapas standing up. Nonetheless , it was a good experience. We had 5 simple tapas and a beer for around 21 Euro.

I believe this place just runs on its name and status as the oldest tapas place and I found nothing of quality here . The food was subpar, the service was crap and we mostly went for the ambience and Seville Vibe but they jostled us in a corner upstairs where the only vibe was take me out of here .We specifically asked if we could be downstairs at the bar but they said they cant do food at the bar even though I saw so many people standing and eating ?? There were more than one servers and not so much crowd but it took us so long to get someone's attention to even ask for drinks . I understand that the Spanish way is to relax for meals and take your time but one cant relax if there is no food or drink to enjoy !!! when finally we got some attention we ordered the mussels and spinach -chickpeas and man it took so long that we lost our patience and did not end up staying for the main course .

This place lives up to the hype! Please make time to either go there and stand at the bar for a drink and tapas or make a reservation (in advance) to sit and eat a meal. The tomato and cod was AMAZING, best croquettas I had in Seville, and the pescado variado (varied fried fish) was to die for!! But, most of all, such personable staff who made the place feel like home. Must do!!

The ambiance is fun. The food is good. Sunday night, arrived 8 pm. Joined the line, got to the bar in the first wave. If you are going to wait a long time there is another tapas place around the corner with great food. (C. Dona Maria coronel) Salmon with orange was very tasty but not of orange. The sauce was a pepper sauce. Again-- good pepper sauce but not orange Secreto iberico with potatoes and goat cheese sauce. This was great. The sauce was mild and creamy for the fried potato chunks and thick slice of jamon El rinconcillo salad: a nice mix of veggies including white asparagus, some beans, tomatoes, plus 4 squid, 4 shrimp (warm and sweet) and 4 chunks of tuna ( large size salad 9 euros). Gazpacho: was a little bitter, I think from green pepper Beer: was not filled all the way. My husband ordered 2 glasses and each time got 1/2-3/4 of a glass. The folks next to us then got 4 full glasses of beer. Service at the stand up bar friendly and quick

Absolute worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Would recommend anyone and everyone to avoid at all costs. A group of four of us made a reservation beforehand and were very excited to eat here. Unfortunately, almost immediately our night took a turn for the worst. Upon arrival, we ordered a bottle of wine, which was quickly brought to our table, however the waiter disappeared and never opened the bottle or gave us wine glasses. It took at least fifteen minutes for a waiter to walk back into the room we were sitting in so that we could flag him down to open the bottle for us. At that time, we ordered our appetizers and entrees. It was not until 45 minutes later that our appetizers finally arrived (multiple other tables sitting near us were seated after us and got their food before us) Ravished, we dug into the food only to realize that the meat stuffed eggplant we had ordered, was in fact not even the correct order. They brought us the vegetable stuffed eggplant instead. When we brought it to our waiters attention, he rudely responded " oh, sorry" and then proceeded to say "well you still ate it" offering no true remorse. We had been long out of wine as well so we ordered another bottle- we then had to wait for both our entrees and second bottle to come out to the table. At this point, it was an hour and a half after we had been seated! The worst part about this was that we assumed they were busy and perhaps had been understaffed; however, earlier when they had forgotten to open our first bottle, we mentioned they must be busy, and he responded back by telling us it was actually a very slow night for them! Finally, when we were brought the check, there were 4 orders of bread charged to our table. At no point did they ever offer us bread (which would have been nice while we were waiting for our food to arrive) The only time they mentioned bread was when the waiter asked "more bread?" Which 1. We never got bread but 2. We said yes, and he never brought it! But gladly added it to our check I know things happen and people forget things sometimes - we are all human- but this experience was horrendous on all fronts. The service was the worst Ive ever experienced, the food we received finally was subpar, and on top of it all we were sitting in a side room with no music or atmosphere. I would think twice before booking a reservation.

We showed up really early to this restaurant, one of the oldest tapas bar in the city, hoping to get a table since we had called the day before and were told they were full. It turns out if you show up early you can get a table outside but they tell you that you must be done with your meal by a certain time since they have those tables reserved. This was not a problem for us since it was plenty of time to enjoy our lunch. The service was slow since they literally only had one person working outside and he had at least 10 tables to take care of. We ordered some gambas to start and then got fish cooked in a couple of different ways, grilled and almost like in a stew served with other shellfish. The stew was under seasoned, the grilled fish was definitely better. We also tried the dessert sampler which included four different types of desserts cut in small pieces. Overall the desserts were way too sweet but the coffee one was good.

As one of the oldest tapas bar in Seville, El Rinconcillo opened its doors in the 1670s. Located just blocks from the Palacio de las Dueñas, the interior decor is classic Sevillano: Arabic style tiles, wood barrels, cured Iberian hams hanging over the bar area, Love all of that authenticity! It is usually a mixed crowds of tourists and locals - and if you want to avoid the wait, you may make a reservation and sit at a quiet table upstairs, Tourists like myself might opt to embrace the chaos at the bar area / high tops where the tapa menu is available. Otherwise, the dinning room on the ground floor offers regular non tapa menu for diners. We ordered the gambas that screamed freshness, served chilled that are the sweetest shrimps I ever had! The fried battered cod was also excellent!

Servers had a good sense of humor and were happy to make suggestions on what to order. You really do feel the history of the restaurant. Food was very hearty and substantial. Loved the salad with seafood. Nice balance to the various meats.

The restaurant has great food lovely setting and very professional service. Excellent.

Went here as a recommendation from my host. It was the last meal of our trip in Spain and we were so disappointed. We got the octopus...it was the worse thing I've ever tasted. The jamon was good..nothing else was memorable but you can find better for a much lower price. I will not be recommending to my friends visiting Seville soon.

Great service. Authentic tapas style restaurant. Great food! Sevilla has been challenging in finding great authentic food as most spots seem to be a bit of a tourist trap. Reviews on Trip Advisor and Yelp haven't been great references. First spot in the city that has been great. A true local spot!

Personally thought the food was very subpar, but also really haven't found anything in Seville that has been memorable in terms of food

We made a reservation here after reading about it on eaters 38 places to eat. Our waiter was brusque but then warmed up after my son started ordering dinner in Spanish. The dinner portion sizes are big. I'd rather have smaller dishes so we can try more things but that's how it goes here in the restaurant. We ordered the spinach and chickpeas and I thought it was good. Again wish it wasn't so big bc my family did not care for it and I ended up eating it all. Some people have said this is like Indian saag but the flavor is totally different. We ordered some other dishes but they weren't anything special. I don't know why they are on Eater's other than the fact it's the oldest tapas restaurant in Seville.

The best Tapas in Seville!!!! They open at 8:00 and fill up quickly. We arrived at 7:45 and waited for them to open. Everything we had wear delicious and our waiter was super friendly and helpful. We loved the Iberian ham and chorizo, cod soup, muscles, clam, and lamb chops!

Felt like I walked into the past a hundred years when I came into this tapas bar. Amazing atmosphere inside with welcoming bartenders. Was such a cool experience being here standing at the bar eating tapas. Top of my list for anyone visiting Sevilla.

Server was kind of rude but he got better the more we ordered. It's a really good tapas bar but if you're at the bar, you'll be standing. Wine is cheap. Food is affordable. Dessert is Spanish style. Highly recommend.

We were lucky enough to score a table for 4 for Tapas. A true Seville experience. We sampled way too many plates to list here. All were delish. You need to be in the right frame of mind when you go in. It is crowded, and the service can be slower than you might like. But it is well worth a visit.

Unfortunately this place was a total let down.. service was awful, not just slow but they clearly didn't care to take of us. It presents itself as a 4-5 star restaurant but they do not take care of you in that way. We sat at our table with no menus or even table water for at least 10 min, then they brought one menu for a table of 3ppl. On the menu was listed 3-4 types of different fish dishes.. when my friends each ordered one they were told "no.. We only have one kind" ... like what?? The restaurant opens at 8pm our reservation was at 8:30 pm you couldn't possibly have run out?? Anyways.. the food was mediocre at best.. The service was poor.. and the only thing the restaurant really has going for it is the history of being such an old location in Sevilla. Would not return.

I thought this place was ok. the squid was really good. But there was a mixup on my order and i wasn't really happy about it. i wanted to sit in the dining room to have dinner but they wouldn't let me. they flat out said no. overated and over hyped being the oldest tapas bar. Also, the place wasn't very cleanly.

Our last night we took our AirBNB host's recommendation of eating at the oldest restaurant in all of Sevilla. We did not have reservations, but sat upstairs in the fuller dining area. Bread basket, lovely salad, spinach with chickpeas (reminded me of saag, and loved it!), and a steak to share. The meal was really good but heavy. Liked how it was more American sized dishes than typical tapas! Highly recommend if you are looking for a good full meal and in the area.

Our favorite tapas in Seville, and probably our favorite from our entire trip through Spain! El Rinconcillo is a classic Spanish tapas restaurant with rustic charm. If you want to order tapas, stand either around the bar or at one of the standing barrel tables in the bar area. Don't be too shy to ask a smaller party if you can share their table if there aren't any open. If you are seated at a table, you won't be able to order from the tapas menu. We had a tortilla con chorizo, solomillo, and one of the specials which was pork tenderloin stuffed with goat cheese. All were incredible, but I think the tortilla was my favorite. I wish we had tried the risotto as well, but we had plans to get paella afterward so we held off. Service wasn't the friendliest, and it gets increasingly more difficult to get served as the place fills up and servers have more trouble walking around, but we really enjoyed our meal here.

This restaurant was recommended and we have no idea why. We ordered the salad, cheese, spinach/chickpea dish, Cod loin (a supposed specialty), cod/tomato, and a vegetarian scramble. With the exception of the goat/sheep cheese - layer out carelessly on a white plate - the food was miserable. Flavorless, overcooked and uninspired. The wait staff was also disappointed and the ambiance was fine. We have no idea why this restaurant is still in business. Avoid this tourist trap and look inside if you'd like to see it for the historic value. Plenty of other great restaurants to eat at- enjoy!

Local,.authentic tapas bar with lots of.locals and visitors.as.well. Food is quite good, jamon is on par,.place is a Time Warp which is awesome. Can stand and eat at the bar or tables just away from the bar area. At the bar they record your tab in chalk on the bar top and then do actual math to calc the tab!

Had to give this place a try since it's supposedly the oldest tapas restaurant in Seville. I came at dinner and the place was packed so I had to wait a bit. The waiters gave me the WiFi password so all was good while waiting. :) I had the house special salad for 1 and the assorted fried seafood platter which definitely could have fed 2. The house salad was delicious with stuffed squid and shrimp. The fried fishes were also tasty but not outstanding. Overall a solid dinner and I had to be rolled out of there.

Fantastic food, environment and wait staff. We had the olives, cuttlefish and squid ink risotto, spinach and chick peas dish and clams. We even tasted some food from a nice couple from Belgium. They let us taste their clams because they were sold out by the time we ordered. There is an English menu if needed.

Last night in Sevilla so we did a google search and found this highly rated bar. This is one of the oldest bar in Sevilla and is super busy. We waited quite long to get our table. Once seated, our food came quite fast. -spinach with chickpeas - This dish reminds me of Indian flavours. It is good. (4 stars) -black rice with cuttlefish and prawns (5 stars) -Iberian pork cheek with sauce - very tasty. Pork cheek is tender (5 stars) -sangria - less fruit but this is one of the best tasting sangria. Well balanced in fruit juice and alcohol. Service is okay. There were a few servers. They are busy but there was a table available 40 mins earlier and they didn't even seat us until 40 mins after. I guess we were lucky since there were a family in front of us. Rating: 1 - Poor, 2 - OK, 3 - Good, 4 - Very Good, 5 - Excellent

One of the most highly rated tapas bars in Sevilla - for good reason. My trusty Yelp app lead us to this spot in the Santa Cruz area of town. It's mainly standing room only, as is the norm in tapas bars. they do not close in the middle of the day as many other places do, so it's great to come here any time. We tried the sardines, spinach with chick peas and a few glasses of white wine. All the food was absolutely outstanding. So full of flavor and fresh! Service was good also. Don't miss this gem if you're in Sevilla

Nice spot to try some classic Spanish food. If you sit at the tables you can't get all the tapas but you do have a nice English menu. carrillada (5/5) - One thing that was excellent that was missing on the English menu was the pork cheeks known as carrillada Paving (3/5) - it's basically deep fried cod. Good but nothing remarkable. It's a traditional dish here Iberian jamon (4/5) - tasty and not too tough here Gazpacho (4/5) - a lot of flavor and very smooth Service is slow and a little gruff but with a little bit of charm. This is a place to hang out and take your time.

A truly exceptional meal. Every single thing we ordered was delicious. So good that I even forgot to take photos as we devoured the food. We order the clams, which oh my goodness were they scrumptious, the prisa, cod, croquettes (comes with a lot) and finished off with the chocolate cake. A lot of food and a filling meal for a reasonable price!

This is a great place to try some tasty and authentic spanish food. The restaurant is pretty tiny so we only had standing room! But all the dishes were flavorful and made up for the lack of sitting space. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quick bite in Seville

Atmosphere: great place for traditional tapas. In order to order tapas, you must stand at the bar, which is standing room only. To sit, you're only allowed to order from the dinner side of the menu only. Food: overall, food was actually pretty good! Ordered the chickpeas with spinach which was a bit salty for me, and nothing special. I saw that it's been referred to as Indian food style, which I disagree with if you've ever had traditional Indian food. Also ordered the handmade croquettes, which were good, but nothing special. Calamari didn't have enough breading and didn't come with sauces. Salmon ceviche was great, but I'd say nothing too special as well. Jamon iberico was less fatty, which I loved. Service: traditional Spanish service, no one really spoke english that much, but with much pointing and gesturing....you can make your way through the menu!! Also- their wines are all amazing. I almost left with a bottle of wine their wine was so good!! I ordered the one with a Syrah and merlot blend, and it was very rich and smooth.

WOW, this place is phenomenal. Vibe overall is great - kind of small, homey feeling, very authentic. Love the cured meat shank just hanging from the ceiling. I will say that the first time I came here, I was surprised to find no chairs. It's standing room only. There's space at the bar and tables nearby, but keep in mind that it gets very crowded for dinner. You will likely have to wait for a spot to open up or come early to nab a spot. I also loved how they keep track of your tab on the bar itself. They just write down the prices in chalk of everything you order. If you order more, they add another number onto the table. When you pay, they add everything up on the table. I love it!! For food, we ordered the iberico chorizo, salmon tartare and croquettes. Everything was delicious and tasted so fresh. Croquettes were surprisingly light and not heavy at all. Service was excellent as well. Staff is super friendly and willing to help when needed. Overall, fantastic place. We came back for a second time because we couldn't get enough.

Honestly the best food we have had in Sevilla. Amazing portions to share and it was the cheapest we had. Or was six of us we got six different plates and six different homemade desserts The homemade desserts-- the one we DID NOT LIKE the coffee one Flan wasn't amazing either White chocolate was my favorite And we wanted cheesecake but we were so full For dinner we had Spinach with garbanoz Samimillo a la plancha And like three other plates we asked the waiter to actually pick for us since it was our last night in Sevilla and we wanted an authentic last dinner The fish was super fresh!! Must try!!

My sister ate here a few months ago and recommended this place. It is the oldest tapas restaurant and I understand why. The food here is great. The place is always busy no matter what time you come here. Locals and tourists come here. Fortunately, I made a reservation a month ago. However, I was an hour early because I was starving. You can get tapas or order from the regular menu. Since I'm a solo traveler, I only ordered a few things: I had the chorizo, prawns, fried bacalhao and the house flan. THE BEST I've had in Spain. The bacalhao was my favorite from what I ordered. It was lightly breaded and has a mild and non-fishy flavor - it reminded me of the fried fish I've had when I was a kid but couldn't remember who made it so, I was super happy when I had the same fish at El Rinconcillo. I've had bacalhao in other cities in Spain but they were non-remarkable. I'm trying to think of a fried fish that everybody's familiar with and the only thing I can think of is McDonald's filet-o-fish patty...now, think of that but 100 times better with more fish and less breading. For dessert I had the flan - the real Spanish version. Cheesy, tangy, creamy and the caramel added a bit of sweetness. My whole lunch experience at El Rinconcillo took almost 3 hours. Good thing I was already done touring the city. The service was a bit on the slow side but overall, this is an excellent restaurant.

This place may be well-known, but it's more to go for the novelty of the oldest restaurant in Seville and not for its food. The food isn't bad, but it's not amazing. They also had a big problem with reservations - they couldn't find my reservation (though ended up being able to seat us), and they turned away several families who said they had reservations because the restaurant couldn't find their reservations either. I got the gazpacho, the spinach with chickpeas, and the guilthead (a fish). I thought the gazpacho was very good and smooth, though a friend of mine thought it tasted metallic. The spinach and chickpeas were a good appetizer to share but wasn't anything incredible. Be aware that the portions are BIG. My guilthead (about 18 euros) was massive and came with a small helping of roasted vegetables. It was quite good at first, though it started tasting more bland as I kept eating. A friend of mine got the pork dish (which was absolutely enormous - no way anyone could finish that) and thought it was mediocre. There's only really one waiter working there, and he was quite busy. It took a really long time to get our bill, and we had to get our own oil/vinegar for the bread since they kept forgetting to bring it over. It didn't bother me too much, but something to note if service is important to you.

If you are in Sevilla, Spain, El Riconcillo is the place you need to try. We had our hotel make us reservations both times we went and glad we did because this place stays packed. When you walk in the front part is the bar with tapas and is very crowded. The dining tables are in the back. El Riconcillo sells traditional Spanish dishes at great prices. Service was great.

Okkkkkkkk this is a fascinating place full of all tapas and local lifestyle. Accept the fact that you won't have a chair in advance of going and you're sure too have a spectacular experience. Ordered manchego, iberico jamon, and a tortilla. Coupled with a summer wine, delish!!

El Rinconcillo, tucked away in the lovely alleys of Seville, has stood the test of time and practically reeks of longstanding tradition. One walk into the restaurant and it's as if you're transported back into time where service matters, drinks are served with interesting conversation, and knowing the owners of the restaurant is like having a family connection. And despite its renown, the place is surprisingly really casual - it's the antithesis of "trendy", "touristy" spots and really must feel like home to a lot of citizens of Seville. A casual glance into the restaurant pans from the ceilings laden with Iberico jamon, to the busy bar where many people eat tapas standing up while laughing with friends at night, towards the walls laden with inscriptions and traditional Moorish-influenced tiles. We had a slight issue with our reservation, probably because of the language barrier. Many people have previously complained that the servers are rude to people who don't speak Spanish, and unfortunately I had to say that was my experience here. But you know what, I get it - it's not fair to expect that every establishment will cater to your native language and they had translated menus that helped. However, there is something to say for trying - after I said "muchas gracias" to the waiter, he mocked me and make a joke out of it. I didn't take too much offense to it, but it definitely discouraged me from speaking Spanish for the rest of the meal, and the entire time we felt really out of place. So why a 5 star review? Well, simply because the food was just...so damn good. I've gotten the feel of a lot of places in Seville during our trip, and like a lot of other places, this restaurant runs like a well-oiled machine despite the many patrons and small square footage. We got food within minutes and timing with plates were perfect - this is such a rare thing, but the waiter never hovered over us, and we never felt like we had to flag down service, and appetizers got cleared before entrees, etc. Definitely get the Espanaca con garbanzos - it was a delicious fusion of Middle Eastern and Spanish preparation, a nod to Spain's roots. We also got a light salad with pickled red peppers and fish, which was lightly dressed. I got the rack of lamb with potatoes and blistered green peppers, which was perfection. Despite its light preparation, the lamb was jam packed with flavor - it was like being transported to a whole new level of meat. And with only kosher salt to round out the seasoning! I was floored. the peppers lent a really sweet and maillard-y taste, and the potatoes were spot on - creamy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. My friend got a similar dish with the pork chops, and wow. I have never had pork chops so tender, so well seasoned, and so perfectly prepared. My other friend got the cod and also liked her dish. To round out, we got dessert - the flan and chocolate cake. The cake was like a brick of fudge - but unraveled cinnamon and floral notes. The flan was also pretty good too. I would probably skip dessert the next round though. Overall, as a summary, this establishment is not to be missed - but definitely come with respect for the culture. This place isn't meant to be catered towards tourists, but try your best by dressing slightly more than casual, calling ahead to make a reservation, and arriving on time. Or if you want the more casual route, come by the bar and eat tapas standing up. My only tip is that make sure you arrive early (in Spain that pretty much means like...8:30 PM) to find seating, as the place get really, really packed. My experience in Seville was lovely, but was only enriched by this place - it really does feel like it's steeped in Spanish culture. How many places could say that about themselves?

We made a reservation a month ago only to find out that their food was far from what the menu suggested. We ordered a black rice of prawns and clams and sea bass loins. Both dished came with the small shrimps which were not even indicated in the menu, the sea bass LOINS were actually three small pieces of fish. The PRAWNS were also small shrimps! we felt Very disappointed at this 350 year old restaurant!

So, of course we had to go visit the oldest bar in Seville, especially when it's been around for over 400 years! It was definitely pretty old school in its furnishing and styling, but it has charm. Go downstairs for tapas and upstairs for sit down restaurant. We were tired and there isn't that much seating downstairs so we opted for the restaurant. We tried Lamb chops 3/5: This were also a bit of a surprise because they say lamb croquettes on the menu, but in actuality are lamb chops. They were a bit overcooked and overly salty. Gazpacho; 5/5 easily the best gazpacho I've ever had anywhere. Duck: 2/5 so we think they gave us steak instead of duck because it really didn't taste like duck at all. If it was duck, well they cooked all the duck flavor out of it! We also had an excellent red wine called Gloriosa that I'm dying to find in the states. I would come here and eat some tapas downstairs and definitely try the gazpacho. The restaurant is just so so.

Confusing atmosphere, mostly a bar but they have tables in the back for non tapas items. Ordered lamb, very soft and chewy, but fell off the bone. Came with grilled jalapeños and fries which were both the best part of the meal (a little salty but still delicious). Entrees while sitting at a table are literally just larger quantities of tapas, got meat that was just slices of the the meat arranged in a plate for $6 and normal tapas are usually $3 (about equal conversion to euros). Got a plate of olives, very good. Overall, food was not something I would eat again but atmosphere was lively once I understood what was going on.

Dinner was setup through the vacation tour we went to in Spain. We dined upstairs and I liked the old style Spanish decor of the place. The Spanish Tapas served here seemed to be a bit more traditional than the Tapas I've experienced thus far. Several plates were individually served which included pork dishes, vegetables/salads and shrimp. The menu was set for our dinner but it looks like there are lots of other options to choose from if ordered off the menu. It was topped off with flan dessert and coffee in the end. Since I don't know the names of most of the items served, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves!

Solid good neighborhood tapas bar; everything is just the way it should taste. We stood by the bar as the locals do eating and drinking and enjoyed people watching too. The food is the way tapas should be. As the oldest bar in Seville, it does feel casual and comfortable inside. Love this place.
