Il Nonno Ristorante

I am extremely glad to have come across Il Nonno, upon arrival you are greeting with kindness. It’s a beautiful cozy setting great for date night or even girls night. The chef is extremely talented, we enjoyed absolutely everything we ate. The sauces and homemade noodles and gnocchi hold a special place in my heart now. I am glad I came here for my birthday and excited to return to enjoy some ridiculously scrumptious Italian food in Queens. P.S the cocktails are yummy too !

Insane quality of food. The chef does an amazing job in highlighting some really awesome flavors- we had the boar ravioli seasonal special, which was insanity. The tuna tar tare is something I wish I could have every day. The service was perfect and super attentive. Super easy to find parking in the area and awesome spot to see in Astoria. 10/10 will be back time and time again. Best tiramasu I've ever had.

Despite having a single server on the floor this place was incredible!! Excellent food and our server was attentive despite 4 other tables (including large reservation). Best lasagna I've ever had and the presentation on the dishes is lovely. The Bossanova covers of popular songs also enhanced my experience substantially.

Being that this place just opened there was a wait to get in since the space is on the smaller side. Unfortunately they don’t take reservations, however they were able to accommodate our party of 5. We did overhear the party of 2 after us would have to wait 45 minutes, more or less, so timing is something to consider if you’re planning to come. Once we were seated, there was little to no wait being served water and complementary bread. We had questions about the wine and the waiter was really attentitive. For appetizers we got the calamari and tuna tartare. Both were good but I’d definitely recommend the classic, calamari fritti. For entrees we got the fettuccine bolognese, porcini ravioli, and penne arrabbiata con salmone. The bolognese was a comforting classic with a big portion. The porcini ravioli was very creamy and flavorful, while the penne arrabbiata con salmone was very filling and as mentioned in the description, on the spicier side. Don’t forget to save room for dessert, the tiramisu was fluffy, airy and most importantly delicious. Overall this place is good for classic pastas and a casual dinner. The only downside was that the bathroom was dirty, toilet paper on the floor, water all over, etc.

Every once in a while you read articles and stumble upon a little known and barely mentioned spot and find paradise. Such was the case for IL Nonno. A Fantastic 10 table restaurant IN Astoria, Queens with an amazing atmosphere aesthetically and great twisted pop/jazz music. However, the restaurant could have been anywhere with food that good and there would have been no complaints. Our evening started with the Tricolor Salad and fresh toasted bread. We also ordered a glass of red to share. Dinner was a basic Spaghetti with Red Sauce and Basil as well as the Pasta Nero. The spaghetti was magnificent but the Nero…. Over the top and one of the best Italian dishes we have enjoyed in NYC. We finished it all off with the Tiramisu which was also something to behold. Yes I know… it all sounds basic for a NY Italian joint but this one will not be forgotten or missed on our next trip to the city. A banger!! Write it down!

Had the chance to visit this little gem of a place a few months ago, and absolutely loved it. The food, staff, drinks, and ambiance were all all amazing. Didn’t get many pics of the food because it was quickly devoured. The Pollo alla martini, the carbonara, and the calamari, were all delicious. Can’t forget the desserts though, the sorbet and tiramisu were both divine as well. Highly recommend this spot whether you’re looking for a nice birthday dinner spot, dinner with the fam, and even date night; the vibes were giving for any occasion.

Il Nonno is one of Astoria’s best kept secrets but not for long! Once you try this food, you will know what I’m talking about. I ate here twice and both times the food WOW’ed me. Nonno is the real deal in the kitchen and it comes through in the taste and the presentation each time. Highly recommend the Brozino Filet, the whole plate was absolutely delicious and would eat that every night if I could lol. The Salmon with honey coated pistachios was unbelievable as well. For appetizer the artichoke with shaved parmesan was also delicious. Ask Yaricel to make you one of her espresso martinis they are so good and go great with the meal and dessert! The whole restraunt is family owned and run and the service and atmosphere is top notch. Come through to Astoria Blvd and Crescent to check them out and support a family owned Astoria small business!

Such a lovely place. The hostess and the owners were so kind. The food was amazing. Absolutely delicious. The calamari stayed crispy, the bolognese was great, the sirloin steak was tender. The roasted potatoes? Ordered an extra side of those because they were soft like pillows. Everything was so good. Highly recommend.
