"This laid-back, seafood-centric dive with lots of light and communal tables serves what many agree are the best fish sandwiches on the island. Everything on the menu, from the Mahi in the fish tacos to the Ahi in the sashimi, is caught locally and prepped fresh the second it’s delivered every morning by local fishermen. And if seafood isn’t your thing, the burgers and chicken dishes are all sourced from neighboring Maui farms. There's another location in Paia."

We visited the first week in Nov 2025. I'm so glad this was suggested to us at the beginning of our trip. It was so delicous we had to come back 3 times that week. The salmon was cooked perfect each time. The rice and potatoes had incredible flavor. The flavors on the shrimp quesadillas was amazing. The clam chowder was almost as good as my own. You cant go wrong with anything you order. Also the service was fast and amazing. I loved that you ordered and then it was casual seating for this delicous meal. We will be back and recommend this to everyone.

We loved this restaurant! We ate here twice on our honeymoon and I wish we could’ve eaten here more. We got blackened mahi and another one I can’t recall…. But they were both delicious!!! The cajun rice to accompany it was also amazing. It was a meal we felt good after eating and not heavy/bleh!! The staff were so kind, friendly, and helpful, which we loved and appreciated!!

Google
We visited Paia Fish Market in Kihei about a week ago, and the food was amazing as always! We also checked out their Waikiki location, and it was just as good. The fish is super fresh, the staff moves fast, and the food comes out really quickly. We loved it and will definitely be back!

Google
I’ve eaten at Paia Fish Market twice in a week. It’s a very casual, open air place with picnic tables - on busy South Kihei Road. But don’t let the surroundings concern you. The fish it serves is as fresh and expertly prepared as at any hugely expensive restaurant up the road. It’s probably better. I recommend the charbroiled Ono. This is a “must go to” eatery on Maui.

Google
There’s always a line each time we drove by. So we decided to give it a try tonight. I got the calamari app and a blackened snapper plate while my bf got the shrimp taco. He was as not impressed with his tacos at all. The calamari was terrible. It was SO salty!!!! The blackened snapper was great though. The lady that took our order was super nice.

Google
Excellent fresh fish options, my favorite is grilled mahi on a bed of Cesar salad. It gets insanely crowded so dont go at peak hours. Its most pleasant when there aren't a lot of people, we have gone around 1pm and been fine and tried to go at 5:30 and walked away. Great service and easy location. We got now to the one in Kihei because of the fires, the one in Lahaina town is not in service.

Google
We ordered the mahi mahi plate. Every component was delicious! The service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant had ample outdoor open and covered seating. The utensils, plates, and tables were clean. Hope to stop here again next time we are in town.

Google
Great fish tacos, they were super packed with ingredients! The flavour was very nice and fresh too. The blackened snapper was great. Really like that Cajun flavour Lot of different sauce on table to use

Yelp
My husband and I can't possibly say enough good things about this place. We went 2 of our 4 dinners in Maui, if that tells you anything. The food is outstanding. Simple, delicious, flavorful, fresh. Their fish is amazing. I had the blackened salmon, which was perfectly cooked and seasoned, flaky deliciousness. My husband had the charbroiled mahi-mahi one night and the fish and chips the other night, and he really enjoyed them both. Let's talk sides: the coleslaw that comes with every plate is fresh, crunchy, and complements the fish and other sides perfectly. And my favorite side is the combo Cajun rice and home potatoes. Both are fantastic and bursting with flavor, so it's great you can get a fresh catch plate with both of the best sides (imho). My husband is also a big fan of their fries. There was a bit of a wait to order when we went the second time (~15 min), but it's timed so well that there's always an open table when you finish ordering, and the food comes out in less than 10 minutes. We don't have a next Maui trip planned, but I'm already looking forward to it, specifically to come back to Paia Fish Market. Can't wait.

Yelp
10-27-25 2:47 Late lunch for 1 Ambiance - Strictly fast food overtones. Not exciting. Service - order & pay at counter. Very pleasant and polite. Sit at picnic table outside....order brought to table. Food - Grilled Snapper over cooked , dry, not impressed did not taste fresh. Cold-slaw chopped large pieces AND NOT tasty, French fries decent but nothing to write home about. Iced tea .....very good. This lunch was $35 with tip. My first and last time to eat here. Sorry! I hope this is NOT their food standard. Parking ok.

Yelp
Hummm.... food looked great, but flavor was missing. I'm at a lost, but neither of us ate even half of meal. ‍ Ordered: blackened snapper meal, (ok) snapper with butter, garlic& wine (ok), calamari (didn't taste fresh..C) Ceasar salad (ok).... Service was fine... you order yourself from a long line. You sit yourself, tables have cutlery, napkins, vinegar, catchup & a secret sauce..... the secret sauce was very good... don't know what it was, but sweet & a little tangy. Nothing bad, but also nothing special.
google avatar

Yelp
They had long long lines so we assumed the food would be good. We were so disappointed. Maui just is not back to normal. The fish was just flavorless. Its like they tossed into a pan w/zero seasonings and cooked it with vegetable oil or something. Just sad because the fish is the freshest you can get in Hawaii. Unfortunately we are done w/Maui for a while.... Didn't finish our meal and I didn't take pictures either.

Yelp
There was a short line when we arrived, but it moved quickly. You order at the counter, take a number, and they bring the food out to you. All seating is outdoors, which gives it a relaxed, island vibe that fits the location perfectly. We ordered the Ono Cajun style, Mahi Mahi Cajun style, and salmon Cajun style, all with half Cajun rice and half home potatoes for sides. Every dish was packed with flavor, and the fish was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. The Cajun spice added a nice kick without being overpowering. Sides were tasty and well-portioned, especially the home potatoes. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food came out faster than expected. This spot is a must-try if you're in Kihei and craving fresh seafood done right.

Yelp
One of those places that specializes in a few items and it shows. It's counter service and grab a table after ordering. Don't be afraid, trust the process and you'll get a table by the time you need it. I got their ahi burger (medium) and was blown away by how everything felt so well balanced. The slaw added texture and brightness, the fish itself was tender and perfectly cooked, and the whole thing was huge and I personally felt very full even without fries. Highly recommend and will be a new favorite spot when I'm in town
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
Ok this wasn't the best pic but the fish was sooo fresh! You get the option to have your choice of fish cooked in multiple ways (blackened and Cajun style are also super ono) and the choose between e.g. fries, rice, potato's, etc I got take out this time bc the place was packed when we got there This was their location in Kihei and it's just as good as the OG up north!

Sabrina L.

Yelp
Went around 6pm on Friday and there was already a long line. Order at the front, decent amount of tables indoor and outdoor that are available after ordering. I asked for recommendations and the cashier said her favorites were mahi mahi charbroiled or snapper blackened. It took 35 mins to wait in line and 7 minutes to get my food. The fish was cooked well, slaw and tartar sauce had great flavor but the rice was hard. Glad I went but wouldn't say it's worth the wait
google avatar

Yelp
Goodness gracious this place is good. You know a place is special when the elderly locals come for dinner on a weekly basis. There was a huge line, the servers were working so hard to take orders and clear tables and yet were still so nice. Super local vibe. Super fresh food. And felt like you were eating in Grandmas Hawaiian kitchen. Great portions. Incredible value. And amazing food! Would go back 100 times

Yelp
One of my favorite meals during my visit to Maui! From the start the staff were so friendly and welcoming, and were super helpful in explaining the different offerings. The fish was so flavorful and went so well with the coleslaw, rice, and potatoes. Seating is outdoors and has a really nice seaside ambience. A must-try in Maui!

Yelp
We were so excited to try this place but was sadly disappointed. Maybe it was an off day but we picked up food around 3 so not anywhere near closing and they weren't busy yet. My daughter and I got the snapper with garlic lemon butter sauce and hubs got the blacked one but I cannot remember the type of fish. Our fish had decent flavor (very strong garlic) but was so dry. I honestly couldn't finish it and didn't want the leftovers the next day. The hubs fish was even dryer if that is possible. He said good flavor and the side of rice was good but damn was it dry. He didn't want his leftovers either and he usually eats all leftovers. We were left highly disappointed and it was a costly meal we didn't enjoy at all. Maybe it wan an off day but it was pretty bad.

Yelp
You really can't go wrong with this place. We visited 2 times on our trip. It was next to our resort so it was a great options. The food is extremely fresh and made to order yet comes out quickly. You can't go wrong with any of the fish you order. I ordered the shrimp and chips and hubby order snapper. Everything was delicious, including the slaw. It's refreshing and tastes delicious. It's a great hang out spot to end your day or to grab a nice meal mid day. Great service too.

Yelp
This spot is definitely a hot favorite in Hawaii, and it absolutely lives up to the hype. I tried the fried calamari and it was really, really, really good...crispy, flavorful, and fresh. The onion rings were surprisingly great too, with a nice crunch and so much flavor. What kind of spices are they putting in???? But my absolute favorite was the ahi blackened cajun -style in an iron skillet, hands down one of the best fish dishes I've ever had. It came with fries and coleslaw, but honestly, I barely noticed them because the fish stole the show. I also had the mahi-mahi in butter, garlic, wine, and lemon, which was delicious as well. The fries were just okay, and the coleslaw was more of a filler, but who cares when the seafood is that good? The place was pretty busy and I had to wait in line, but the service was fast. We grabbed an outdoor seat, enjoyed the crowd and weather, and had an amazing meal. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Mackenzie L.

Yelp
Loved stopping here for a casual lunch! Staff were super friendly. The place was clean and the food came out quickly. We tried 3 different fishes (all blackened) with different sides and everything was fresh and packed with flavor. My husband was obsessed with the hot sauce that was on the table. We were lucky enough to pop in when it wasn't busy, but we've driven by multiple times and seen lines out the door. We won't be back this trip but I would come back in the future and I would recommend it to others.

Yelp
What we call: a Zoie staple. Delish food. Made me like mahi mahi. I don't even like fish. I got the burger one time which is dumb. Blonde ale thing was delish too and I hate beer
google avatar

Christopher N.

Yelp
Amazing fresh fish catch of the day. Choose your fish, prepare how you like it, add a side, all of it was amazing! Services fast? And I love that you can only get a table until after you order. The sauces are also a nice touch and a good kick. Go early to avoid the lines, before sunset is ideal time. Once the sun sets, all the watchers flood to eat. Everything is clean, even with the wild chickens hanging around for a snack!

Yelp

Yelp
This place has the best food in Maui! I promise you! Don't waste your money at the resorts for okay food this is the best plate you will get on vacation I promise you! The service is solid and fast it's literally right off the beach and the bocean breeze goes right through the seating area. You will come here more than once on your vacation! Try one of everything and DEFINITELY get the mahi sautéed with rice and potatoes!
google avatar

Ryan C.

Yelp
Needed a late dinner (late for Maui at least) so we went here to pick up some food to go. Line was still pretty long close to closing. We got a Blackened Mahi Mahi Plate with Rice and a Fish Taco Dinner Plate with fries. Only took about 10 minutes to get everything despite how busy it was. The fish was so good, very meaty and cooked perfectly. Pretty big portions. Same with the fish tacos. Pretty filling meal for both of us and we had a good amount of leftovers. Still a solid place to get some good Mahi Mahi.
google avatar

Alli W.

Yelp
More like a 3.5 How it works: You'd order first, grab your seat after with the number given, and your food will delivered to you. Ambiance: Super casual vibes! Provides 2 separate outdoor seating areas: one is under the roof while the other is under individual umbrellas per table. Food: Seafood pasta- Not a fan. A bit more runny than I'd like and the noodles did not absorb the flavor of the sauce well. Shrimps in it were okay but the fish were overcooked. Sautéed ono with cajun rice- Ono is walu! This was great -- very fresh, soft, and buttery. Rice was dry though and the flavor of cajun was lacking.
google avatar

Elke K.

Yelp
Mahi Mahi and Ono sandwiches were awesome. We always try to stop here when we visit! Try it!!! You won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Irma K.

Yelp
One of our favorite places for fresh fish. Must go! We went Sunday before sunset and the line was short! Fish is fresh and delicious! My favorite is Mahi Mahi sautéed. My husband likes the Ahi Blackened. Their sashimi is always yummy melt in your mouth. Their seafood pasta is another favorite. We like coming to this location because of the outdoor seating. The beach is across the street and you can watch the sunset from here. When in Kihei must try! The lines can get pretty long Friday nights. The Lilikoi margarita was a little bitter this time but added more lemonade and it was sweeter. Will try a different margarita next time.

Yelp
Had high hopes for this place, but ended up being bummed out. I had a mahi mahi taco and the clam chowder, and my partner had the calamari strips. I'm particular about food temperature, and the chowder I ordered came out lukewarm, borderline cold. I flagged the staff and mentioned it wasn't hot enough and they came back quickly with another bowl of lukewarm chowder. I didn't want to complain -again- so I didn't eat any of the chowder beyond the first taste, which was a waste. The taco was pretty good, generous portion that was good with their tangy sauce, and my partner really liked his calamari strips, but I was disappointed by my chowder experience.
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
My husband and I ate here for dinner after getting multiple recommendations to try this place. We had high expectations considering the long line outside, but unfortunately we were not really wowed by the food. We got a charbroiled ono with cajun rice to go. The texture of the fish was fine, but overall everything tasted pretty bland, even with the sauces provided. Would we go again? No, but perhaps we just ordered the wrong dish. Still want to be generous in giving three stars for good service.
google avatar

Jeff E.

Yelp
Stopped in here Wednesday. We both had the Ono, my wife's with a lemon garlic white wine sauce and mine prepared blackened with Cajun seasoning. Both were excellent and can with Cole slaw and choice of side for a super reasonable $22. This location used to be Alexander's Fish years ago and Paia Fish Market is doing them proud.
google avatar

Jane H.

Yelp
The grilled fish plate + cajun rice + potatoes and slaw is pure comfort food. The mahi, charbroiled, was our favorite fish preparation. Blackened was also good. Highly rec getting the rice+potato side. The slaw with notes of dill was delicious. All of the sides went great together. I appreciated the lemon wedges on the side. Husband and I are both still having cravings for the mahi plate and we will definitely return if we ever come back to the island.
google avatar

Amber P.

Yelp
Great food - Large portions - Yummy sides This wasn't on our list of places to try but saw the line of people waiting everyday and figured why not! The 30minute wait was so worth it! We ordered the shrimp tacos and the mahi-mahi, Cajun style with house potatoes, Cajun rice and coleslaw. We lovedddddd our food. Fresh, plenty to go round, the coleslaw had a dill twist and their homemade sauce was to die for. When I come back to Maui, I WILL be eating here. 10/10 recommend
google avatar

Myanh T.

Yelp
Great fish, simple ingredients and just well cooked. Definitely a must when you are in Maui. One of the better dishes we had here in Maui. It's definitely just a casual space, if too busy just order to go and go sit at the beach park across the street and enjoy your food.
google avatar

Ata M.

Yelp
Pā'ia Fish Market is a must! Over the years, they stay consistent with their food, quality, and service. It's right on S Kihei road and across the street from Malama park, which is nice if you have kids. They can run around after dinner/lunch. Tables are picnic style, and while you'll be mostly in the sun if you sit on the street side, they do have a covered area . Bathrooms are shared since it's in a shopping center that has other stands and restaurants. It's worth checking them out for lunch, especially when the island is a bit busier. Dinner can have a long line most nights! You order inside and then find a seat after ordering. Even at peak busy, they're quick to buss tables, the wait for a table is usually not long. Grilled and Cajun are our favorite types of cook, and the fish really is up to you. If in doubt, ask the person taking your order. They're knowledgeable and will give you great suggestions!
google avatar

Yelp
Favorite restaurant in Maui. Fresh fish, draft beer all reasonably priced. I started with the clam chowder. Very good. Super tasty. I also had the fried shrimp appetizer. It was beautifully served on a bed of lettuce. Really enjoyed the shrimp. Excellent value for only $8. I then had the charbroiled fish. Prepared perfectly on top of Cajun rice alongside some tasty coleslaw. Service was excellent. They work hard to please everyone and keep it clean. All seating are open air. Love it. Buen Provecho en Maui.

Polina T.

Yelp
I absolutely love Paia fish market . We only made it here once this time around but when we stayed in Kihei a few years ago, we frequented this spot. The place does get busy but the line moves fairly quickly . The most recent time, I got the blackened ono with French fries, but if you love fish, you really can't go wrong with anything here . I've heard the poke is mediocre compared to what you can get at other places on the island but if you're looking for some delicious cooked fish, this is the place .
google avatar

Sasha W.

Yelp
We were a party of 5 and had high expectations based off the reviews and long lines. It was underwhelming. Every one of us were disappointed and our proteins were overcooked. Their sides were really good and so is their tartar sauce. It was our worst meal in Maui.
google avatar

Fanny D.

Yelp
We didn't do any research and stumbled upon this place. It looked fairly popular based on how many tables were filled but no line at 4:20 pm. We ordered then grabbed a table under the shade, nice outdoor seating area. We shared a lunch size (6 oz, vs the dinner size 8 oz) snapper sautéed in garlic/butter/lemon with half and half potatoes and Cajun rice. Wasn't expecting much, but the snapper was perfectly cooked, soft and moist, and flavored perfectly with the garlic. Sides were great as well. One of the best fish dishes I've had! By 4:30 pm, a line started to form, and by dinner time we drove by and the line went around the side of the building. Turns out this is a super popular place!
google avatar

Yelp
Northside is supposed to be fantastic. Pass on south side, everything (had a lot of things on the menu including "fresh" ahi sashimi and it was all mediocre at best. The capper was that our server was completely dismissive and cold. Avoid.
google avatar

Bonnie L.

Yelp
Wow! What a great, affordable meal. Service was nice. Walk in and order at the counter. Seating outside or inside. The fish was so fresh and tasty. Got the charbroiled and really got the taste of the fish. So good I wanted the next meal to be here!! Definitely recommend. Flavors and quality of food.
google avatar

Yelp
We want For the first time , we saw people in line and decided to try it . We were definitely not disappointed the food was delicious . We for the fish and chips and a pasta . We tried the calamari was really good . The hosts to sit us weee friendly . Very clean restaurant. We will be back again .

Lisa I.

Yelp
We love this place and make sure we go there every time we are on Maui!! I love the shrimp and potatoes. The fish and chips is also good. I would definitely recommend this place.
google avatar

Julia M.

Yelp
4.5/5 but rounded up because my tacos were so good! Fish was super fresh and flavorful and not dry like it often is. Loved the rice and coleslaw. Long line but it moved quickly and servers were very nice.
google avatar

Pari A.

Yelp
The calamari is Nice place for great food and people watching. The charbroiled salmon was tasty too and the portion size was huge! I'm glad tried this place!

Richard M.

Yelp
Food was very good and quite a large plate. We had plenty left over for lunch the next day. We got the sauteed ono, and also the charbroiled ono. Both were excellent. We were greeted and asked if it was our first visit, and then given the run down of how things flow when we said "yes". Ordering was easy, and we had no problems finding a table. Food came out soon after we sat down. The restaurant is well lit, clean, and has quite an enjoyable vibe in the midst of the other stores and restaurants nearby. Lots going on, and plenty of people enjoying themselves.
google avatar

Mary K.

Yelp
I don't have much to say about the service. It was basic, no one really seemed happy to be there, lol. I don't blame him though. Who wants to work when you're so close to the beach? I got a fish plate. It was a huge slab of fish, and I think I ruined it by getting that cajon Seasoning. It came with some type of cabbage and rice, altogether it worked well. I just didn't care for that cajun, stuff, I would definitely go back and get something else.
google avatar

Brian V.

Yelp
Another Kehei favorite. Every single staff member is friendly and goes out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. The fish selections are amazing. Got to try the magic sauce. Probably the best value for char grilled fresh fish. You can find. Yes, you stand in line to order. It's worth the wait. When I'm here visiting for a week to 10 days, I eat three to four meals here. Now that I'll be living here, it will definitely be one of my weekly stops for a great fresh fish meal. This is one of those places you end up calling home
google avatar

Hailey M.

Yelp
Delicious!! Definitely a must if you are in Maui! Had the blackened mahi mahi with rice + house potatoes. Came around 4:00 so it wasn't very crowded, but I can see this place getting packed fast. Cute shops to walk around after which is a bonus!
google avatar

Judith G.

Yelp
I have to say this is my favorite restaurant on Maui, both locations, and now, I found a location in Oahu, also. Paia serves the freshest fish prepared in your choice of methods including: charbroiled, sautéed in garlic, blackened Cajun (highly recommended)! Fantastic!! The home potatoes are great and plentiful. The rice is flavorful and plentiful. The fish is a large portion and perfectly prepared. The servers are professional, proficient and personable. The ambiance is casual and spacious, nicely decorated and clear. I always will go to Paia Fish market whenever I visit Hawaii.

DM C.

Yelp
If you like Dried Mahi Mahi 'jerky'! This is the place! I was around in the 90's to see the Opening of 'Alexander's Fish & Chips' (former business name at same location) when ocean proteins were served fresh, moist & perfectly seasoned. Back 30 years later to be hugely disappointed by the poor quality of fish served at now 'Paia Fish Market'. Order a Garden Salad with Mahi Mahi & a lilikoi margarita. Salad was fresh, cocktail was okay but Mahi was a total'disaster' - tasteless, dry & 'chewy'! Wow! For a $37 self-serve, picnic bench seating meal. My luck? How in the world ... 4.5 of 5 Star?!! Went back to look at Reviews. Not hard to spot a good of professional 'yelpers'. Also same remarks of serving tasteless, overcooked proteins. Most got sucked in by the long line; same here. Places like this that give Maui a bad name. No wonder tourist numbers are down. First & last.

Yelp
First let me preface, I am not a seafood lover but came here anyway due to its great reviews and proximity to our hotel. You know it's good when the line is out the door. We waited a good 15ish minutes and it was hot! You wait in line and order your food. They give you a number to put on your table and someone will bring the food to you. I ordered the fish and chips with a side of clam chowder. Chowder was decent. The fish and chips weren't my fav. It was really meaty which is probably what most people would want. I just didn't prefer it. Also I'm used to cod and this one wasn't cod. I thought it was meh but that's just personal preference. My husband enjoyed his mahi mahi. I thought it was just okay but again, I don't really like seafood sooo yeah. Overall the workers were nice and it's a cute spot in kehei for some fresh seafood!
google avatar

Irving N.

Yelp
On our trip to Maui we had a BUNCH of good food but when we had lunch at Paia it was beyond good. Like many spots throughout Maui, this place was counter service but the people at the front all the way to the food runners were very nice and welcoming. The seating is also outdoor only but that's not really an issue when the weather is always nice. The ambiance is very chill and laid back which is honestly what one really needs when on vacation. We ordered the Mahi Mahi Burger with some fries and the fish was honestly cooked to perfection. The Cajun style Mahi Mahi was honestly one of the best seasoned and cook pieces of fish that we've ever had. The rice was also really good and packed with flavor. Definitely would've loved to try their other restaurant but this one low key exceeded our expectations. Paia is a MUST when being in Maui.
google avatar

Safia S.

Yelp
Grabbed dinner here based on all the positive Yelp reviews--it definitely did not disappoint! You have many options of locally sourced fish to choose from and they can be prepared in many different ways. I found the snapper cooked blackened Cajun style to be my favorite. The food is cooked to perfection! The line is long but the food comes out quickly. The ambiance is super casual and you will likely sit on park bench style tables with other diners. I found this to be a great spot!

Yelp
Went a couple months ago while the family was in Kihei. Definitely recommend for some good seafood. Really good portions for the value you get. Service and ambience were awesome too. Stop by when you're in Maui!
