On the Grid : Candlemaker

"Inspired by a hundred year old candle factory that operated at the nearby York Road, this place inherits a very unique decor, some sixties-psychedelic parts mixing with for example a suit of armour. Nevertheless this spacious place shines with the possibility to sit outside, even in late autumn. There are regular events like free live music every Saturday. You could also enjoy one of their lovely burgers while watching one of the six nations games or attending Monday's pub quiz. SUN-WEDS: NOON-MIDNIGHT THURS-SAT: NOON-1AM" - Holmes Wood

What a cool spot! Super friendly staff and lovely food. This place had a cool vibe and one of the few good places to eat in this area for burgers and bbq food. The guys behind the bar were super chatty and very helpful with our orders. My burger was clean and delicious, no messy burger here. Love to see it. The Mrs had the veggie burger and she was well impressed, which is no meat feet. So if shes happy then so am I!

When we walked in, the service was incredible, really friendly staff and an overall great atmosphere. The sharing platter was cooked to perfection. The meat was very tender, however it would have been great if there were more flavour added to the meat and mac cheese. I would definitely come back again, as the roasts looked lovely.

Been to the Smok'd kingston branch venues before, The Candlemaker is alot smaller in comparison no dining area, was on a table infront of the bar felt like we were in the way abit, that said the quality of the food did not falter the food was brilliant as always with Smok'd apart from there being no brisket, the staff were attentive always asking if we needed a new drink and how was the food. If youre in the area would recommend but would say book a table in advance

Used first table for the 50% off food and had a fantastic time. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The place had a really cool vibe. They had also comedy on that night. The burgers were delicious. The prawn starters were yummy. The baby back ribs were a little bit tough and could’ve done with more sauce but overall it was a fantastic experience and will definitely come back.

Came here for a friend’s birthday dinner on a Monday and left shocked by the level of customer service or lack of it. As a first-time visitor, I approached the bar simply to ask how the menu works. Instead of being welcomed or helped, I was spoken to in a condescending, dismissive manner, as if I was expected to already know everything. Basic questions were met nasty face and an attitude that made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Things got worse when ordering a pint of beer. I was rushed, given no time to think, and met with exaggerated hand gestures and impatient looks, as if my presence was an inconvenience. It was unnecessarily hostile and completely unprofessional. The guy with long hair works there was brutal. It’s a real shame, because the pub itself is actually quite nice and the food was decent. Unfortunately, the experience was ruined by staff who clearly have no interest in customer service. On top of that, the venue was absolutely freezing, which only added to the discomfort. A nice pub let down badly by poor staff attitude. Customer service costs nothing, yet it was entirely absent here. I won’t be returning, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it especially if you expect to be treated with basic respect.

If you’re after a great Sunday roast in Battersea, you’ve got to come here. They serve up seriously tasty barbecued meats like beef, chicken, and pork, adding a smoky twist to the classic roast. They come loaded with all the good stuff—crispy roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, a big fluffy Yorkshire pudding, and rich gravy. They also whip up excellent cocktails if you fancy something a bit different with your meal. Plus, the manager, Callum, is fantastic—super friendly and always makes you feel right at home. With great food, drinks, and atmosphere, it’s the perfect spot for a chilled Sunday.

I recently visited The Candlemakers on Battersea High Street and was pleasantly surprised. The food menu is simple, but what they do, they do exceptionally well. I had the hamburger, and it was amazing – tasty, with quality meat. Their selection of beers and whiskies is incredible, featuring options from all over the world. Plus, it's really good value for money. The service was friendly and efficient, adding to the overall positive experience. Another bonus is that the pub is dog-friendly, making it a great spot for pet owners. I'll definitely be returning!

A truly wonderful "start" to the day with a beautifully cooked, presented, and tasted Sunday roast beef rib dinner !!!! From start to finish, impeccable, warm, friendly, welcoming, fun, service - first time in a while I haven't had to ask for water. Lots of choice for seating, indoors, 2 x outdoors - front and rear. Extremely clean, with very nice decor. Tips: Free parking evenings after 7pm and weekends nearby in Patience Road and surrounding area. Comedian performances here sell out fast, and Havana cigars are available. Plenty of deals available during lunch and weekdays too. Looking forward to returning - excellent stuff !!!!
