Star Ferry Pier

Tapped on with our Visa card with Apple Pay at a very reasonable rate. Just missed one Ferry but one arrived 5 minutes after and left exactly to the schedule. A nice scenic way to cross the harbour if you wanted to do something different to the metro.

Haven't been on the ferry since I last came to HK over 20 years ago. Nostalgia hits you when you remember the rush to get on the unstable ferry, the horrible wooden seats that reverse and the landing platform that still moves around which is supposedly safe. Much easier now with an Octopus Card. Good memories.

A great bit of working history, the ferry ⛴ is very regular and even at the more expensive time to travel at weekends still great value..plenty of seating and fabulous views..well worth a journey on.

Pretty good 1 hour ferry tours. You go around one side of the bay, drop off the people who were on before you (they got on from the other side of the harbor). Then you go back around the other side of the harbor before getting off. Good views during the day, probably spectacular at night. You get a free drink and rice cake while you are there. Also the cabin toward the front has air conditioning. Definitely do this if you want some harbor views!

Star Ferry is a good and economic mode of transportation across Victoria Harbour as well as a nice sightseeing tour. A trip across Victoria Harbour affords terrific views of both sides of the harbour; Hong Kong Island with its skyscrapers, hotels and bank towers from one side and bustle Tsim Sha Tsui from another side. It is especially amazing at night. A trip takes approximately 7-8 minutes

Always one of my favourite mode of transport. Cheap and cheerful and a good way to explore hong kong. Best mode of transport to see the light show in the evening. Cannot ask for more. Iconic Ferry! Worth to support!

Finally get to sit the star ferry that I've been seeing on HK TVB.. it was a very smooth ride across from central to tsim tsa tsui. Sadly, it was a little foggy else it would be a great view..

An amazing place which is close to Avenue of Stars, the ferry is wonder and a substitute travel to different places . It also connects to harbour to travel Macau. It takes an hour to reach Macau from Hong Kong. I really loved this place

Really cold beer, great pizza, friendly and helpful staff!!! Great experience! The pizza was tasty, with lots of meat. There are condiments on the counter for your pizza. There are about 5 or 6 different types of pizza and a couple of different beers to choose from. There are also several different wine options as well.

My kids and I are in town for a few days so I wanted for them to try all if not most of the transportation here in Hong Kong. This Ferry is affordable for a short ride to Tsim Tsa Tsui. It is nice to ride at night to see the beautiful city of Hong Kong and Kowloon. Going to this pier is a little bit of a walk from World Wide Center - that's where we exited from the MTR. We just followed the sign that led us here. You can ask people if you get confused with the signs. Most of them are nice. It was a leisurely walk though since we are not in a hurry. We took our time, checked out the buildings that we are passing and the big Ferris wheel that we hope to ride next time. There are stores around the pier and vending machines too. You need a token or an octopus card to get in the waiting area. Ferry's come every 10 - 15 minutes apart I think.

The ferry port is located in central, and it services as one of the commuting routes to the other side of HK. Follow the signs and walk through the tunnel, pay or swipe before entering the gate.

If you looking to get from one island to the other in Hong Kong, look no further than the central Star ferry! On your way there, you'll have the chance to experience the central Star ferry pier! When I first evening in Hong Kong, we wanted to take a quick walk to both get outside and to be able to see the city a little better. This peer extends roughly a quarter mile and provided some really nice views of Hong Kong Island. There was a lower walkway as well as one that was slightly elevated. The lower portion is where you get on the Star ferry as well as many of the junk ships to travel the waters. The place was great for people watching in for views of the Office at skyline. At night, the buildings on Hong Kong Island really laid up in that provided for some spectacular viewing. We also really enjoyed seeing all the ships, which range from junk ships two large barges and Yachts. Quite eclectic! Will you want to spend 15 minutes or five hours walking around, there's plenty to see and do it out here. Highly recommended for anyone in the area!

One of the must things to do in Hong Kong is ride the Star Ferry. Wonderful views of the city from the water. Very cheap. You can pay with an oyster card. It runs very frequently. Ride it during the day and again at night when the city lights come on. As you will be passing through here either way, if it is your first time, just follow the crowds on and off the boat. There are places around to get a drink or snack. There is a public bathroom just across the street at street level. The elevated walk way makes it easy to get to Central but it is open so no air conditioning at all.

The Star Ferry terminal here is a cheap and easy way to cross Victoria Harbour and get from Hong Kong Island (in Central) to Tsim Sha Tsui (Harbour City mall). They take Octopus cards and tokens. Weekday fares cost 2 HKD for the lower deck and 2.50 HKD for the upper deck. Fares go up to $3.40 on weekends and holidays. I would say that the Star Ferry is similar to the Staten Island Ferry in NYC. A lot of tourists come on board and take selfies during the brief ride (less than 10 minutes). The view is neat and the ferry comes frequently. Do not run for the ferry like I did because the staff here can get pretty rude and relentlessly yell at you for minutes. I past the unstaffed gate (automatically opens when ferry arrives so I'm assuming they automatically close as well) that they thought had closed and he slammed it forcefully shut after I got back out to the waiting area.

This pier is like a time capsule. See how people used to cross the Harbour (and some still do). It's a nice way to see the entire city skyline at a leisurely pace.

You have, you must, you shall, you have to cross the water of Hong Kong using this service. Let me explain. First, it's dirt cheap (and you can pay with your octopus card) and what can you do for dirt cheap these day. Second, you have an impressive view of Hong Kong. On the sea, rolled by the waves, you have a viewpoint that you cannot get anywhere else. Third, it might be the thing that decides if you want to splurge or not on a boat tour. You see, the rolling waves and the sea breeze might sound appealing. But, maybe with this short ride you will feel that your jacket might not be enough and your stomach don't appreciate the waves as you do... Or at the contrary, maybe your hype up now for a junk boat tour now!

You are here either for a walk or to take the ferry to Hong Kong. Well if you are not press on time and would like to travel back and forth between Hong Kong and Kowloon then the ferry will not be a bad idea. View on the ferry definitely beat the MTR. I mean there is no view on the MTR. People now a days would take the MTR And skip the ferry. The MTR is much more convenient. Of course the experience is different. I did get a chance to walk around the pier and look at the view of the other side. This is a tourist attraction place and lots of tourist come here. This is also a big bus stop. If you want to catch a tour than this is the place to hop on. As well lots of buses stop here. Depending where you want to go. This is one convenient location place.

A super cheap ferry ride that offers beautiful views of the Hong Kong skyline (and Kowloon too), this is not a tourist trap - it's way better than that. In my book, the views beat that of the Hong Kong Observation Wheel or the Peak for a fraction of the cost. You can get some of the best views you've ever seen and avoid the potentially jam packed subway. AT THE PIER: -- $2 HKD for the lower deck, $2.50 HKD for the upper deck -- Use your Octopus card if you have one. -- Buy a plastic token at the machines outside the turnstiles. You can buy more then one token at a time and will get change back. -- Be sure to check the schedule as the ferry shuts down by 11:30pm. -- If you're going to Hong Kong you'll end up right by the ferris wheel and the IFC towers. -- If you're going to Kowloon you'll end up right by the clock tower and the waterfront walkway and just a short walk to the heart of TST. ON BOARD: -- For an extra $0.50 HKD (about $0.06 USD) it was totally worth it to ride on the upper deck. -- If you are heading to Kowloon, the main Hong Kong views will be on the right hand side. If you are heading to Hong Kong, the views will be on the left. -- The seats are benches with backs that swing both ways. In other words, you can make the entire row face forward or backward.

We pay $5 to cross Hong Kong Love The View but that's kind of fast because we have nothing to do and not rushed should go anywhere just to enjoy The View is amazing.

Coolest boat ride in the world. At least the cheapest. The "Star" Ferry Company, is a passenger ferry service operator and tourist attraction in Hong Kong. Its principal routes carry passengers across Victoria Harbour, between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. It was founded in 1888. In 1966, a fare increase of 5 cents (or 25% at the time) of the ferry was a political milestone, as it caused a 27 year-old student to go on hunger strike in protest at the Edinburgh Place terminal. The trip from HK Central to Kowloon is still only 35 cents per person.

Star Ferry! A quick ride from HK to new territories side and vice versa! Great views... So if you're near the harbor mall the entrance to the star ferry is near there. First you need to buy a token to gain admission to ride the ferry. There is a top and a bottom section with different prices.... so you hop on the ferry and if you get a seat near the edge of the ferry, you can watch the skyline go right on by. All the buildings and shops... at night its all lit up! Its a really quick ride. Buy for the price its worth just doing the round trip even if you have no intention of going to the other side... The other entrance on the HK side is near a mall that has a HUGE Apple store... its also near the ferris wheel that looks like the London Eye... shopping all around! So take a little break and see things from the harbor... Note: the star ferry has been in operation for decades and only has gotten a little more expensive!

Star Ferry is one of 50 places of a lifetime! I studied here for eight weeks and didn't even take the ferry enough! It's very convenient to get to from Central and drops you off right on the TST promenade! Also the price : less than 50 cents USD! Cannot best the price as well as the views from the water of both sides of the city!

The Central Star Ferry Pier is one of two new piers that the Star Ferry serves. It is connected to a footbridge that takes you from the pier to the heart of Central. While it is fully wheelchair accessible, wheelchair users will need to take the lower deck the ferries go primarily to the Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Pier, which doesn't offer step-free access for upper deck passengers. Be advised that like all Star Ferry piers, the pier itself is not air conditioned... I mean it's not a big problem, but get ready to feel really warm particularly during the summer days. Whether you're a commuter looking for a cheap way to cross the harbour, or a tourist trying to get good shots of Hong Kong's funky skyline, the Star Ferry might be exactly what you need and want.

The Star Ferry is legendary for a good reason, and I love taking visitors on it. The Pier is great people watching, good views, cheap, etc. It's a must when in HK. I will say all the "performers" are getting a bit much on the Kowloon side and taking away from some of the charm . . . but you can't seem to escape those these days.

There's a lot going on here all the time, sometimes a fair, sometimes a market. The ferris wheel is also about to open! Of course, taking the star ferry across to Tsim Sha Tsui offers stunning views of Hong Kong's icon skyline. It's also the cheapest way to cross the harbor.

Many people overlook the Star Ferry as another means of transportation for Hong Kongers to get around to the other side of the harbor. This is one of my favorites when I go to Hong Kong and anticipate at night--cheap, with breathtaking views of Hong Kong you can't get elsewhere. During rush hour, you can feel the madness of rush hour in Hong Kong, which is like no other elsewhere--not even in New York. There is a crowd explosion once the doors of the ferries open and you can really feel the rush. I've never taken the Star Ferry during the day, but I feel like it is at its prime at night. The best thing is that it is extremely cheap and if you have time, you can take it back and forth, as many times as you'd like.

This was such a fun experience, despite the few moments of fear when I thought I was going to die... We hoofed it over here after our plane actually arrived early and after basically running from the airport to the train to a taxi and to the river, we were absolutely blown away by the size and beauty of Hong Kong Island skyline. Absolutely stunning! After watching the light show and staring in awe at the skyline for about half an hour we decided to head over on the ferry so that we could get some dinner and ride up to Victoria Peak. The ferry was very easy to buy tokens for. They have machines right before the entrance and we were able to slide in a couple bills and get the tokens. The ferry runs frequently so we only had about a 10 minute wait before we were boarding. We chose the main level and took some seats. We only staying in these seats for about 12 seconds before the ferry starting moving and we moved to the edge so we can gape in awe at the lights and buildings. The ferry was pretty loud and phooweee we could really smell the exhaust, but the view was so worth it. The ride was maybe 10 minutes tops before we were on the other side. The ferry ride was a little terrifying at times.. the smell of the exhaust combined with the jerky movements of the ferry made it seem like we could tip at any moment. I'm sure this isn't true and I'd ride it again in a heartbeat, but it did make me walk a little faster to get onto the dock! Even if you are super short on time, this is something I completely recommend. We took the Airport Express Train from Hong Kong International Airport to the Kowloon Station (if you have a group of 4+ you can buy group tickets for MUCH cheaper at the customer service counter .. the group tickets were not in the ticket machines).. then it isn't a far walk to the Harbour where you catch the ferry, but we did take a very cheap taxi since we were rushing to see The Symphony of Lights... plus we only had 12 hours in HK :) Once you are on the Hong Kong side, there is no need to take the ferry back because the Airport Express has a Hong Kong stop as well (just adds a tad to your return ticket fare). **My apologies that so many of my reviews include duplicate information.. we just saw a lot in such a short period of time that a lot of information overlaps and I wanted to include information on how to get around quickly!

The century-old ferry route is popular with locals and tourists alike, and the distinctive green and white boats are a permanent feature of Hong Kong's famous harbour. Sure, if you're going across to Kowloon you can get to TST on the MTR from Central, or Admiralty, but travelling under the harbour dosen't have quite the same cachet. From the ferry terminal at TST it's a short walk to the MTR station if you are traveling further afield.

The Hong Kong Star Ferry Pier is one of the most iconic and distinctive tourist attractions in the territory. So you can imagine the commotion caused when few years back then the local government decided to tear and down and make way for 'new development'. Star Ferry Pier is beloved by tourists and Hongkongers because of its rich history and how cheap and convenient to cross the Harbour while enjoying the most well-known view of Victoria harbor - the fascinating Hong Kong skyline. Personally, I prefer taking the MTR if I am to cross the harbor as both MTR and ferry will be PACKED, might as well take the one with the air-conditioning, so at least I can get over the ordeal as soon as possible. Therefore, if you are to take the ferry, try to avoid the peak hours; if possible, take the one around eight so you may enjoy the Symphony of Lights Show (kind of over-rated but still) If you are just here for the beautiful Victoria Harbour at night, try to go on the ferry as fast as possible so that you can get the perfect spot to take pictures.

I took the star ferry ride across the from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central. The pier was pretty busy even for a weekday afternoon, so it must be pretty packed during weekends and on holidays with more tourists likely. The view from the pier is really nice during the day and night, although again, at night, it is pretty packed with tourists. Whether you're a first time or frequent tourist, I'd definitely recommend this pier/the Star Ferry ride. It's a short ride, so for those of you who get sea sick easily, this ride usually isn't that rocky and is short enough that you shouldn't get sea sick. The view is definitely worth a look around and the quiet and peace of the ferry ride is a nice break and escape from the busy, bustling city life.

The cheapest way of crossing the harbour and awesome views while doing so. What's their not to like. Just keep in mind the unlimited day pass tickets at the airport will not work here so you'll have to buy a token with cash or have an octopus card. It's still worth it though just for the views particularly if you're only around for 1 to 3 days.

i LOVE the star ferry!! A cheap & beautiful way to get from Kowloon to Hong Kong side. I recommend everyone to ride it at least once. It is a quick ride & as a person who has severe motion sickness I have never gotten sick once riding the ferry. Also, when I ride the star ferry it reminds me of my FAVORITE old movie of all time "The World of Suzie Wong" If you haven't seen it I suggest you watch it either before or after your trip to Hong Kong for a comparison of Hong Kong now & in the 1960's.
