Tasting Spain’s Secret Flavors on the Sunny Costa de la Luz

"Casa La Siesta is a romantic cortijo below Vejer, reimagined with exposed beams, terracotta tiles, and iron balustrades. It offers locavore food from on-site gardens, best enjoyed outdoors among lavender-filled Mediterranean gardens."

The Best Affordable Hotels in Europe, According to Travel Experts

"The simple pleasures of Casa La Siesta, in Cádiz, are the best: feeling the breeze off the Atlantic; inhaling the fragrance of orange and olive trees from the nearby hills. Food also plays a special role here. At the hotel’s restaurant, authentic Andalusian specialties are paired with wonderful Spanish wine and sherry. Doubles from $340." - Travel + Leisure Editors

What an incredible start to our honeymoon staying at the peaceful, beautiful Casa La Siesta. Upon arrival, Isa was so welcoming and made us feel like we were at home straight away. We were blown away by how delicious the food was and how much we were fed. The staff were so attentive and Isa and Isabelle were so kind and friendly to speak with. The gardens and rooms are beautifully decorated. We would definitely recommend Casa La Siesta for anyone thinking about visiting!!

Absolutely stunning place! Shame we only stayed one night but we wanted to experience it before travelling to other places in Andalusia. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the lovely Isabel who welcomed us and gave us a complimentary drink in the beautiful courtyard before showing us to our gorgeous room. Rustic, yet extremely comfortable with amazing views over the rolling hillside. We had dinner at the hotel which was fabulous, beautifully presented and so tasty. The hotel is so quiet and peaceful apart from the cockerels in the morning which we actually quite liked. The following morning we met Mary who is truly lovely and she served us with a sumptuous breakfast outside in the courtyard. Food was just wonderful, we could not fault it. We spent a few hours by the pool (which was like a bath) until we sadly had to leave to get to our next destination. Would love to go back and stay a few days next time to really enjoy the tranquility and calmness of this lovely hotel.

Paradise! From the first minute you step into Casa La Siesta you lose all your stress and worries as you are transported into what feels like a relaxed, calm movie set! Every aspect is so thoroughly thought out and beautiful. There’s many quiet places hidden away to just unwind and take a step back from life. We went in April/May with our 2 year old daughter during one of the children weeks and highly recommend. The pool is so clean and the staff are wonderful from start to finish. We are already planning our next trip back! (Picture of lightning over the beautiful hotel during one night)

We had the pleasure of staying in the best place to enjoy a romantic and family-friendly atmosphere, with an incredible staff. The girls are wonderful, and their treatment is amazing—respectful and welcoming—which helps immerse you in the atmosphere of the place. To truly feel it, you have to experience it; it’s impossible to describe in words the sensation that this place conveys. Every detail is carefully thought out.

What's to love:||- Beautiful views of the countryside|- Hard-working, friendly staff|- Amazing landscaping (the lime trees are so perfect, they don't look real)|- Spacious rooms; charming lobby|- Plenty of outdoor lounging spaces|- Strong WiFi (it extends to the pool)|- There's a road in front of the hotel that's good for walking|- Two bikes on property|- Excellent cooking; fresh ingredients. The best breakfasts of my trip. I never needed lunch. I had dinner (served outside) onsite three of three nights, and the chef accommodated my pescatarian diet|- Draught beer at the ready; honor bar|- Fresh air and natural light in the room|- Bath products provided; Fresh water (in glass bottles) is plentiful|- Resident cat!|- Vejer de la Frontera (scenic town) and sculpture park nearby||Room for Improvement:||- Speaker should be replaced, as the bass reaches the sleeping rooms, and detracts from the peacefulness of the surroundings||Keep in mind:||- You'll need a car|- You need to know the gate code before you arrive (there's parking inside the gate)

One the most special places we have ever stayed. Truly stunning - every space has been beautifully and thoughtfully designed. The kind of place you go to and immediately want to redesign your whole home afterwards! It is the ultimate in laid back luxury - I made the mistake of over thinking before we arrived and really shouldn’t have worried as every detail is taken care of. The food is superb - we had one evening with their daily menu (which was excellent) but one of our favourite evenings was just having a simple supper, in that beautiful courtyard, which was rustled up on the chef’s evening off. Perfect breakfasts in the garden - absolutely spot on. The place is stunning and the people couldn’t be more welcoming. Can’t wait to go back.

We’ve just got back from the most wonderful 8 night stay at Casa La Siesta. We had high expectations but this place was even dreamier than we had hoped. The staff can’t do enough to help you, and seem to genuinely be invested in making your time there special. The pool was beautifully warm, which our baby boy LOVED and the food was perfect. We don’t tend to repeat the same holiday twice, but there is no way we won’t be back. We also met the owner and family who were lovely & seemed to have a special relationship with all the staff too - great to see. Thanks all!

Yelp
If Casa La Siesta isn't the best rural boutique hotel in Andalucia - if not the whole of Spain - I'll eat my hat. Stunning setting, a relaxed, pour-yourself-a-beer sort of feel, huge spacious rooms, horses, and interiors mag centrefold styling. Superb.
