The vibes and ambiance are amazing! We were so lucky to get here before the rush. Everything was delicious: from tapas to wine. We will be back, and you should stop here on any trip.

Visited on Saturday afternoon with 2 friends and easily got a table without reservation. Very lively and nice place with great atmosphere. Good selection of wines and snacks.

I was a bit disappointed of the quality of the food. I had high expectations We got a mixed plate, toast with truffle (it didn’t taste like truffles at all) and a salat (very simple) I would find tapas elsewhere, unfortunately..

Good vibes with attentive staff. Reasonably priced wine and excellent charcuterie board. You can buy a bottle from shop next door and drink at table for €7.

Highlight of our trip! This recommendation didn’t disappoint. Great prices and variety — the mixed charcuterie was absolutely yummy! Loved the mystery wine concept too… though we totally failed at guessing it.

I came by myself while waiting for a dinner reservation. Despite coming by myself, the staff let me sit at a nice small table, and did not pressure me to leave or move even after the place became crowded. Polite and friendly and really nice ambience.

While on a recent trip to France, we spent a week in Paris. We happened upon this nice, little wine bar around the corner from our Hotel. The staff were welcoming and spoke excellent English. They were very patient with our elementary French. We enjoyed a nice lunch outside with a bottle of wine they helped us pick out. We enjoyed a Rocher des Violettes Touche, Droit de bouchon, mixte, croque tomate, a coupe de champagne, and took a bottle of Mas du Chene Les copines adorant for later. Altogether a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon on the streets of Paris.

A meat and cheese board in Paris, with a glass of wine, is a must, Amright?? I googled and yelped and read blogs to find out where to go to get an amazing board - Le Barav kept popping up & this is how I ended up sitting here on a cold December night. There is outdoor seating for the warmer nights. I opted for the mixed platter - so both meats and cheeses - overall, all the meats were a hit and I liked all the cheeses besides one. The service was friendly and attentive and helped me choose my wine to go with my charcuterie board. I wish I wrote down the name, as I am more of a white wine drinker, and it paired so well. And rather cheap ... however, if I'm being totally fair, wine isn't all that expensive in France in general. I would definitely be back & if anyone should ask for a recommendation, I know where to point them!

I love charcuterie and it was an awesome ending to our recent trip to Paris. Le barav is more of a local dive bar and not many tourists can be found, which was a plus for us to actually mingle with the locals and see them enjoying the night away with laughter and joy. There's patio, bar, and table seating for bigger crowds and right next to it is a wine shop where you can pick out your wine and bring it to your table to indulge! This is the best combo that a wine lover would dream of. At the wine shop, there's an expert that will help pick out your wine based on the region and your taste palette. Once you chose a bottle, they chill it for you in minutes and bring it to your table. Le Barav does offer daily specials of hot food, but the small menu mostly consists of cure meat and cheese. We initially ordered the mixed plate of meat and cheese to begin with but we devoured through the board in minutes. Once we got a feel of the mixed plate, we ventured out to an actual cheese plate, which offered additional varieties that they recommend going from mild to pungent cheeses and their truffle ham, which was truffle heaven. Would definitely come back again on our future trip at the end of the night to "wine" down.

We ordered a variety meat and cheese board, ham board, and a bottle of wine. All were highly satisfactory. The sommelier offered a great selection to us. The wine was very smooth and with a slight sweetness that helped to bring out each of the boards' flavors. All cheeses were very smooth and subtle. There were no "strong" tastes of cheesiness. The meats were also creamy and melted slowly in your mouth. The restaurant was located in an off street. We choose street seating despite the cold night because otherwise the wait for an indoor seat would have been long. I would recommend coming here close to their opening hour if you want an indoor seat. Otherwise you can try to get a seat close to their heat lamps outside or request a wool blanket, which they happily supply. Generally you don't have to ask for one but it may take them some time before they get around to bringing them out.

This is one of my favorite wine bars in Paris. The service is wonderful, and I can guarantee you will stay here for hours. You are able to choose a bottle of wine from their market next door and enjoy it while seated in their restaurant. I truly love this place and cannot wait to visit again soon.

Wish I lived in Paris so that I could come to this place for wine and charcuterie all the time tho. It's like the French version of Friends but instead of going to the bar, you just come here and sit outside and people watch. All I want to do is drink 1 half bottle, 2 half bottle red wine with a chocolate cigarette after dinner here. I'm gonna be honest, I must have eaten something funny earlier in the day and it was coming out pretty liquidity, but I still pushed myself to have the wine, charcuterie and the tiny ravioli here. Everything was so great and I am so happy I came here. Super relaxed place that I would come to over and over again, and seems to be a great neighborhood spot.

It probably sounds pretentious, and it is, be Le Barav is our favorite bar/restaurant in the world! My hubby and I stumbled upon it 3 years ago when we first came to Paris, and returned 2 times this past trip (and we were only in Paris for two days!). It is EXACTLY what you want and need in a neighborhood wine bar. Well priced wine, fun/loud/casual vibe, and perfect, delicious light bites. The steak tartar was the best we've ever had. And you cannot go wrong with the mixed cheese boards and the amazing french bread. This place makes us want to pack up our dogs and move to Paris. Oh, and i would say its 80% locals, despite having a lot of great English reviews. Your best move is to grab a bottle at the attached wine store (ask questions, they will help you out), then bring it to your table, where they charge you a $6 "corkage fee".

Awesome wine bar with regularly rotating French regions. Staff were really helpful and friendly! Great atmosphere. They also have a wine shop where you can choose a wine and drink it there. Nice selection. Small plates available to order too. I would highly recommend this quaint wine bar!

Omg omg omg Wine. Great. Plat mixte- good! Solid!! Croque monsieur with truffle ham, Comte and onion jam. Deeeaaarrr gooood. How? I'm going to try to make this at home and I'll fail and it'll still be delicious. Why have I not had this before? Ravioli. Out of this world. I can't even comment or I'll cry from the deliciousness. Thank you Paris!

My friend Aaliyah P strongly recommended Le Barav wine bar, so it was one of the first stops during my visit to Paris last month. The bar's evening hours start at 6pm and they get busy very quickly. Arrive near 6pm or risk not getting a seat. The people who run this place are all super nice and hospitable. On our second visit, we were recognized and hooked up with a nice table even though space was becoming extremely limited. The menu lists wines by the glass but you can purchase wines by the bottle at the attached wine shop. The selection is solid and wine by the bottle is very reasonably priced. They have one of those chiller machines that gets wine to the desired temp in about five minutes. Very nice! On top of having the most incredible cheese plate known to man, Le Barav also has a variety of charcuterie. On both visits we ordered the saucisson, which is sliced super thin and went perfectly with the cheeses. And don't even get me started on the incredible and never-ending sliced baguette. Heaven! Le Barav fit perfectly into the vision I had for my Paris trip. I can't wait to revisit next time!

I don't have enough words to explain how awesome this place is. This was just a random find on yelp and I was a bit skeptical but this is the reason I place so must trust in yelp and fellow yelpers. This place is AMAZING and definitely worth a visit. It is a bit off the main roads but it is in a quiet/adorable paris neighborhood. We saw the reviews stating that lines formed so we made our way promptly over for their opening time while walking around the cute neighborhood. This place is not large and is located right next to a vino shop owned by the same owners. There is patio seating outside to enjoy the view and smoke if desired and then around 24 to 26 seats inside. We were greeted with smiling faces when we walked in and seated inside in the corner. All of the waiters were extremely friendly and were enthused by my broken French. They were all eager to explain each of the dishes and what was delicious while being very attentive the entire time. The concept of the restaurant and their wine is simple. If you are looking for glasses of wine, the direct waiters are all willing to help you. But why bother when you can get a GREAT bottle for 15 euros on average. IF you want to buy a bottle, you simply get up and walk right next door (connected to the restaurant) and look at the walls of vino. The guy at the store is extremely helpful and it was an easy ordeal to pick a bottle of vino. I ended up picking a few bottles for the night and even walked away the restaurant with an open bottle cos we ordered so much but this is not the time or place to talk about alcohol. After perusing the menu, decided to order a bunch of things inclusive of the planche mixte, the parmentier de canard, and penne a la crème with jambon/parmesan/truffle. I don't even need to go into details but everything was amazing and no this is not the wine talking. The plance mixte was the best variety of charcuterie/fromage that I have had yet. Everything was delicious and the perfect balance of different types of cheeses/meats. They were very attentive and gave multiple servings of bread while joking that Parisians get never have enough bread. The parmentier de canard was OUT OF THIS WORLD. It was such a surprise as it didn't look like anything good but the mashed potatoes were good on top and the duck was cooked perfectly. Tender pieces of meat mixed in offering perfect salty balance to the potatoes. The penne was out of this world delicious. I love how they made this dish in an uncomplicated manner and just executed to perfection. Even the ham that was placed on top didn't like much but the meats were perfect quality offering perfect balance to the parmesan cream and penne beneath. I could eat this for days. There are not enough good things I can say about this place from the food, the quality of food, the selection of vinos, and most importantly the amazing staff. This is a place I wished I had gone a few times and feel it is tremendously underrated. Definitely check this place out.

Warm and inviting, this cozy spot provides a great atmosphere to enjoy a night out. With great by the glass and bottle shop options, you can certainly find what you want on a night out. Add a plate or board to make for a late night meal.

Out of all the places in Paris, this is by far my favorite spot to go to. The waitress was sweet enough to speak English for me and explain the menu. Had the charcuterie mix with rillettes. They give you endless amount of bread. And we had Bordeaux red wine to compliment our meal. Great music, vibe, and scenery.

Everything here was fantastic! You can get charcuterie, small plates and wine by the glass or bottle. The "off the beaten path" location made us feel like we were locals. The service was great, too!

We stopped in Le Barav in search of a good charcuterie plate and accomplished our mission! It was busy when we walked in but we were promptly greeted and offered a seat at the bar. The bartender was SO incredibly sweet and helpful during the many hours we spent there. We ordered a mixed meat/cheese plate which was delicious and served with fresh baguettes that they are constantly cutting behind the bar. This place had a fun, laid back vibe with enjoyable food and great service.

I really loved Le Barav; in fact, the cozy/lively vibe reminded me of the Spotted Pig in NYC, which is one of my favorite restaurants in the world. My husband and I went on a Saturday night, and got there by 6:15pm in order to beat the crowds. We still ended up waiting over an hour, which was perfect since we wanted to eat around 8pm, and passed the time drinking wine by the glass at the bar. The moral of the story is: get here early if you don't have a rez. In the meantime, I ran next door to their wine shop, and selected a 2009 bottle of St. Emilion wine that was reasonably priced. I carried it back over to the restaurant, the bartender opened it to let it breathe, and added it to our tab. Seamless. For our dinner, we chose the planche mixte, a delicious assortment of cured meats and local cheeses. We also got an order of the emmenthal cheese ravioli, which was decadently baked in a cream sauce with crispy umami-laden chorizo. This dish was a MUST ORDER, though the entire menu was enticing. I am still thinking about that ravioli, like, 9 days later. The last comment I have to make is for the staff. The bartender (who also acted as host) was really friendly and accommodating when we arrived. When we were offered seats at a shared table, and we said we'd really prefer to wait for a private table, he happily obliged. Our waitress was really sweet too. Le Barav is definitely a special spot.

This place is phenom. I never reviewed it when I was there and people kept asking for recommendations so I had to hunt it down. Now, this review can stand the test of time and always be there for me and you. Get the charcuterie boards. The wine. All of it. You can thank me later.

I've had this place bookmarked since forever and never had a chance to come up to the area (it's so far up north from the marais, that it's really by republique). Even when i was directly across the street for the spice shop, i didnt notice that le barav was right there. Finally, one night with my visitors, we trekked down there and finally experienced the wonderfulness of this place. Well to be honest, at the start, the experience was less wonderful because the small place is so crowded and we didn't make a reservation. We finally (took forever) got the attention of a server while standing in the roomless bar, and she told me she doesnt think there's room - she then asked the two others guys who just shook their head at us. I asked if we can wait and how long was the wait, and she did the french shrug and loud exasperated sigh/rasperry ("uh-ffft"): "20 minutes to 3 hours?" I couldn't help but laugh a bit at the answer. My friend and I looked at each other, not really sure if we should go or leave, and decided that since we were not that hungry and it looked like people were actually coming and going, we waited. We waited in the middle of the restaurant getting pushed and shoved by passers and goers and more comers - but in 20 minutes, we got a table outside in the cold. Lucky us, the heater wasn't working so people didn't want to stay outside for that long and we were dressed warmly enough. The service was extremely friendly but everyone was always busy. We were provided a menu but when we asked what the plat du jour is, our server had no idea...haha. Anyway, we ordered: - Planche Mixte - comté 16 mois, brie de Meaux, Trappe d'Echourgnac à la liqueur de noix, jambon Serrano d'Olot, chorizo de Guijuelo, lonzo corse, saucisson ibérique (14€) - Ravioles Gratinées - cassolette de ravioles du Royans gratinées au Comté Marcel Petite et chorizo ibérique (7€) - Parmentier de Canard confit - et mesclun de salade (13€50) The Planche Mixte was really good. All the cheeses were not very strong and their cheese with nut liqueur was pretty crazy - it tasted so smoky! The ravioles was soooo flavourful althought the chorizo flavouring was a bit too strong. The duck confit came boneless and buried in a baked mashed potatoe casserole and cheese on top. IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For the wine, if you want anything more than a glass, they ask you to go next door to their cave/cellar/wineshop and pick your own. The attendant there marks the bottle with the price of the wine, you bring it back to your table and they cork it for you for an additional 5 EUR. If you want the same bottle again, they will go and get it for you next door, but the additional 5 EUR corking fee still stands. Our bottle was 11€+5€)corking fee so 16€ every time. I don't think you can bring your own wine. We didn't finish our second bottle because we were so full and drunk so we asked them to recork it for us and they gave it to us in a nice bag and we brought it home. That wine was finished though as soon as we stepped back in the house. Our final bill was around 80€ for three people and we were well fed and well-drunk. I am totally coming back!!

This was an amazing experience. The staff were all amazing and helped translate the menu to English. For a 7 euro corkage fee you can get a bottle from their wine shop and have it there. He also offered us wine by the glass but we went with a rose bottle. The charcuterie board was a mix of cheeses and meat. All the meat was amazing. The cheese was great but I am not into some of the more complex ones yet so one was a little too intense for me. We ordered also a chorizo ravioli and it was excellent. They always refilled the bread and water and checking in. Very good service as we have found it either goes one of two ways we start with what French we know and either they laugh and switch to English and are helpful or other places the people get a little grumpy. This place was the first case. Highly recommend it to relax at a table on the street.

My partner and I found this place through Yelp when we were looking for a nice, but easy going place close to our hotel. The place is pretty small but has some table outside (doubling their seating capacity) which is nice when it's warm enough and not raining. Sadly it was raining that evening. We were their on a Saturday during fashion week and we hadn't made a reservation so we could choose to be seated at a table but with a time constraint as the few empty tables had been reserved, or sit at the bar. We choose the latter. We (party of two) arrived around 19:30 and the place was already bustling with activity. It's a small place but the tables outside double the capacity of the restaurant. Unfortunately it had been raining earlier and it looked like more rain was on its way so we stayed inside. On wall of the restaurant is a mirror giving the illusion of space. I was amazed at how tightly run this little restaurant is. The waiters were all very efficient and absolutely used to work in a very confined working environment. Our waitress was very cheerful, easy going, and pleasant. Though she spoke English, speaking French does make thing easier for you and the staff to explain the menu or give tips for where to go eat ice cream after diner. If you like to drink more than a glass of wine, think about buying a bottle of wine, like Mike Y. said in his tip. You can buy one in the restaurant, obviously, but also in their own shop next door and you can have it with your meal in the restaurant. I'm not sure if the €5 cork price is also applicable to bottles from their own shop. We had the mozzarella burratina and the rillettes de canard as starters. The mozzarella was really nice. The rillettes de canard also but it's very fatty, just so you know. Served with a bread basket that's refilled when needed. My main dish was the cuisse de canard confite. It can with small new potatoes baked in their skin. Very nice, but a little bit too salty for my taste. Perhaps though the saltiness is just they way duck tastes when prepared like this and no extra salt is added(?). The staff knows their wines very well (not surprising when they also own a wine shop) so ask for advice or tell them what you like in a wine and they will get the closest thing available in their selection. The assorted sausages and cheeses served as starters or just as nibbly bits to go with your wine looked nice and come with an explanation of which cheese and sausage is what. All in all a very nice dinner experience, even while seated at the bar. Also if you're dining by yourself, there's enough going on to keep you entertained by simply observing the people. If you want to make sure you and your party have a table, best to make a reservation.

One of our favorite places in Paris! It had been a long day on our first day in Paris and this was just what I needed. I had tried to learn some basic French prior to visiting Paris but still had quite a bit of difficulty when trying to order food. We value quality food and refused to go anywhere in France that would be 'comfortable' and 'easy'. We had heard so much about Le Barav and it was exactly what we needed. We spoke limited French, they spoke limited English, but it was just enough to have a non-stressful night, ordering was fairly easy, and the food and wine was top notch! We started out with a glass of wine and then walked next door to buy a bottle. They charge a 5 euro cork fee but you save so much but buying from their wine shop anyhow. It only took about 40 minutes to get a table but we had gone in without reservations. It began to rain and the party never stopped. They have an excellent enviornment and having the breeze flow through the bar was wonderful. Seating outside includes tables and wine boxes. It made for a very relaxed and beautiful place. We had the absolute best Foie Gras we have ever eaten. Living near western North Carolina, we have had great exposure to it and this trumped all. We also had charcuterie, fromage, bread, and dessert. Amazing place and a wonderful experience. Many in Paris are overrated but not Le Barav.

Great place! My local Parisian friends and I made the trek here because they like it so much. I thought it hit the spot! It's a nice little place on a corner, packed with Parisians inside, with lots of tables outside, on the sidewalk and on the side of the street. Lots of people outside too, but we didn't have to wait for a table. For wine, we ordered Bordeaux and Prosecco, and for food, we ordered charcuterie, tapenade, and antipasti; it all came with a pretty big basket of delicious French bread that was refilled as we continued to plow through it. (Kind of funny side note: when I ordered Prosecco, the waiter asked me if I knew what that was, and I said yeah, it's kind of like Champagne, right? ...His response? "Not really." Haha, there's that French pride for ya!) My favorite thing we got was our order of the tapenade! It came with this red bell pepper spread which is possibly the yummiest spread I have ever had, I could not get enough of it! The olive tapenade was great too, and the cornichons and pickled onions. The antipasti was very good, lots of food, which was great. Always great for me to see and have a big veggie dish in Paris. This was a great place to come with friends and nosh on lots of food with some wine, and it's always great to go where the locals go!

I loved this place for numerous reasons: 1. It's located on an off-the-beaten path, which means mostly locals and few tourists up in this joint. VERY important to me 2. The service was authentically French (gruff, but well-intentioned and kind) and the menu is entirely in French as well 3. Our water carafe never once went dry We didn't know how to order in French, so we looked up photos on Yelp (thank you, Yelpers!) and showed them to our server and he complied. We got a cheese board, a meat board, and a truffle ham board with wine. SO GOOD. And ask for extra cornichons. I got addicted to those during my Paris trip.

Good food and great selection of wines for a very moderate price this place is a must

A short walk from our hotel, this was perfect for a cold (freezing) evening in Paris. A small wine bar that has great selections of both white and red. We shared a charcuterie and one of the pasta specials of the evening. Our server, who had worked there one week, was absolutely great. She spoke perfect English, was always there when we needed her and was always smiling. I enjoyed being here with Parisians and not tourists. Definitely must stop here if you are in the neighborhood.

We came here for some food and wine, of course. First thing I noticed was that the atmosphere of the place was really lovely. Although we just ordered small snacks to share, everything was very good. The mixed plate was perfect and the duck rillettes was amazing as well. The bottle of wine they recommended for us was very reasonably priced and was probably my favourite of the entire trip!

Came here while traveling around Le Marais. Ordered wine as per the waiter's recommendation which was fantastic. Was friendly and spoke English. Got the mixed plate of meat and cheeses that was delicious. Ended up eating every last bite on the plate. Wish there was a bit more bread but maybe my ratio of bread to meat to cheese was off. Would definitely come back if I was in Paris again. Highly recommend.

Worth the wait very good service, the cheese and meat platter was amazing, friendly people, great wine. It was perfect. Wish I could find a place like this in New York.

I liked this place quite a bit. It's a restaurant with a wine store attached. Get a table, go into the wine store and pick out a bottle. The prices are clearly marked and they'll charge a 6eur corkage fee to drink it there. The bottles range from about 9 Euros up to the very high end. There's ample street seating (make a reservation) and some inside tables which you may be able to snag on a walk in. From my memory the food menus is limited but the mixed plate was very good to have with a bottle of wine.

I enjoyed this wine bar. The pours for the wine by the glass are small (12 oz). Buy by the bottle. There is a €6 corking fee, but overall that is much better than the ridiculous wine markup that I am accustomed to in the us. All of the snacks we had were also good. The lower cost burgundy whites that we bought were just so so

It's close enough to Republique to be convenient to get to, but down a smaller street for intimacy. There are a handful of tables outside if inside is too cramped for you, but everyone makes it work along the bar. Our bartender was nice enough to keep an eye out for a table for us, even though we were happy to stand and didn't ask, and seated us after awhile! I was so surprised when he offered! He also graciously let us try the wines that we picked (again, without being asked) to make sure we liked it before pulling the full glass. I thought he hadn't heard me when I ordered a mixed plate of cheese and charcuterie, but he had actually been checking with the kitchen a few times for us to see why it was taking so long. The planche mixte is pretty standard to me, but my friend visiting said it was the best cheese she's ever had. I loved the music, and it generally seemed like everyone around us was having a great time. Though the table next to us was rowdy, our server was patient with them, and quick with the bill for us when we wanted to cut out of there. My friend remarked on how efficient he was, as he brought it straightaway then swooped in to clear our table for the next round.

I have been there twice and i like the idea of picking out a bottle of the wine from the store next store. Food is fine, nothing extraordinary, but sitting outside on a nice day watching the world go by is priceless.

Wonderful, everything one could want in a Paris wine bar. Friendly staff, excellent food, and superb wine. Pricing is better than reasonable. We ate at a Michelin star restaurant last night and this was far more enjoyable. Eat, drink, be merry, and tip the staff generously they deserve it. Merci Le Barav!!

Wow. This the only expression can express this place properly. Wine selection, customer service, and the environment are unbelievable. Whoever comes to paris this is the place has to go.

During a solo trip to Paris I was lucky enough to stumble on Le Barav, which was absolutely perfect for a few glasses of wine and charcuterie outside on their patio. Very welcoming and accommodating, and well worth the price.

Somewhat pleasant atmosphere, average service. Not too noisy. Pretty long wait for food. Very tasty authentic French food. Worth the wait. On the more expensive side. Overall, a good place to grab a bite.

Nice wine restaurant hidden behind place de la Republique. The restaurant is originally laid out and has a terrasse outside. For those who are shy and do not want to sit down with unknown people, it can be the case here. We were 2 with my brothers and we placed at a table for 4 with a couple coming from the UK. What is nice on this bar is the possible to try different wine at the glass, you can also order a bottle in the wine store and take it away if you do not finish it. You have also the mystery wine and if you discover it, you can have a glass, half a bottle or a bottle offered. Nice tapas also. Even though I do not like cheese, we had a planche with cheese and charcuterie. My brother really enjoyed the cheese. In total 48€ for 2 with a bottle of wine and 3 different "tapas" (they are large).

The wine selection and atmosphere are the reason to be here. The Friday night scene is absolutely popping, and the next door wine store definitely offers a good range of wines for drinking. The highlight of the dinner was the mixed charcuterie and cheese plate, with a fantastic combination of meats and cheeses. Honestly, given the chance, I'd order a whole plate for myself for dinner. The food was fine, but underwhelming. My two friends bother ordered the beef Tartare, which they claimed wasn't particularly good, and the lack of table mustard didn't help. The sides were a bit too salty (mashed potatoes and a salad with a concrete reduction. I ordered the gnocchi with the dried beef. The flavor was good, but the gnocchi was far too dry, and I needed to drink copious amounts of water to maintain an appetite. By no means an unpleasant dinner, but stick to wine, cheese and charcuterie for an optimal experience.

Lovely little restaurant off the beaten path in a residential neighborhood. The staff were incredibly kind and food was good. If you go, I highly recommend grabbing a bottle from the wine store beside it (they will provide great recommendations for you!) and bringing it to the outdoor seating (corking fee of course). Would love to visit again if we had more time!

Walked hear from our hotel and I was so good. Got a pasta, a panini, and a meat/cheese plate along with 2 glasses of refreshing rosé.

I'm going all-out and giving this place the big 5. I'll admit it - I like to feel cool from time to time. I like to go to the place that all the other cool kids are going to. And I (obviously) like to tell other people where the cool kids are hanging out. Le Barav is where the relaxed, not too overly-affected, and well-aged (but not old!) hipsters spend their evenings. I felt welcome and like I fit in, as opposed to feeling old and frumpy as can sometimes occur if I end up in a bar in Oberkampf. This lovely wine bar is situated in the triangular haven of hipness that also houses the likes of Mary (for your gelato eating pleasure), Merce and the Muse (for your coffee drinking pleasure), and Café Creme (for your brunching pleasure). Still in the Marais, but far enough off the beaten path, this area take you out of tourist-ville and lets you feel like you've found yourself a small, secluded gem of a place. The staff knows their wines and what's "on tap" that day. If you don't know your French wines that well, fess up and let them choose for you. They'll do right by you.

I took my wife, two kids, and niece for dinner at Le Barav. The food was excellent and the service was second only to the food. My family and I speak very little French, so it can be tough, but our waitress was an absolute delight. She spoke English (even as we were attempting French) and was extremely enthusiastic about the food. We had an assortment of their small pasta plates and couldn't have been happier. The gnocci with gorgonzola was brilliant. We had cheesecake and panacotta (coulis - they also have a caramel option) for desert. So far, this restaurant has been the best we've visited on our trip to Paris. Highly recommended!

BEST CHEESECAKE IN PARIS Seriously. Oh and make reservations way in advance ! You might find a place at the bar but it can get really crowded. Next door is the wine shop and they also hold wine tasting classes which is fun. But don't come hungry because you don't eat much during the class.

Prices are extremely reasonable for Paris. Grab a bottle of wine next door and just pay for it on your bill (we drank a bottle for 14 euro). The chorizo ravioli is unreal and the charcuterie was also excellent.

My wife and I absolutely loved this. Don't compare it to anything in the States because it's far different and it's different in the best of ways. Go all in for wine and multiple courses, you'll be happy you did!

The location is charming, the food is casual and delicious, and the wine is from the store next door. We made it by around 630pm and were able to snag a table but we had to move by 730 because that was what time the reservation on that particular table was scheduled. No worries as the table next to us opened up. I found the service to be fairly quick if you know how to signal to the bartender. We were unable to sit outside and I do recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Also, this place is really affordable. I spent 4 euros for my Bordeaux and 6 euros for the prosecco. I found there to be a very diverse age range of the patrons here. It was my favorite 'bar' in Paris.

What a fun spot. We came here on our first night in the city. We bought a nice bottle of Bordeaux from the wine shop next store and enjoyed it with the cheese plate and the charcuterie. Delish! Service was very friendly and attentive even though they were slammed. Come here with a date or a small group
