Excellent selection of niche items; it is worth checking both their AbeBook listings in addition to their website, the book I was interested in was on one but not the other. The shopkeeper kindly agreed to look despite being ten minutes from closing, found it without problem, and even offered a tote bag!

I ordered a book online in good faith the charge was made to my credit card but the book did not arrive, I emailed the business to query when they intended to despatch and had zero response. Refunded when I involved PayPal dispute service Not recommended I certainly would not even consider using this business again.

the gentleman that runs the shop is just awful. i greeted him with a smile and friendly hello and asked if he had any postcards for sale, and although he said no i’d found some in a box. he told me i couldn’t even look through it!! id have bought them as im an avid collector but due to his rudeness i just walked out the shop. wouldn’t recommend

SELLERS BEWARE! This guy is a crook. I entrusted a collection of books and letters to him 18 months ago, which he valued at about £40,000. He told me he'd sold some of the books for just over £6,000, for which I received £5,000, and the letters for over £13,500, for which I've received - nothing. He also promised to return to me any unsold books after a year - I've received none. He doesn't answer my messages. Steer clear of him!

Wonderful shop, feels like something from days gone by. Interesting stock and the owner is a fountain of knowledge. Well worth a visit.

Coming from a Black Books fan - it was truly amazing to visit the place. It's different on the inside, which I already knew, although I think the show took a lot of inspiration from the original book shop. It's quite small but cosy and you can look through the books for hours and still find new and interesting tomes as well as rare copies. Which brings me to my next point - that the books are all very specialised and quite expensive, which obviously will not be for everyone. I like antique books, but an average shopper won't have the interest or money to casually buy one of the many, many unique books. Fear not, as there was a small selection of more affordable titles. Long story short, I very much enjoyed my visit and the owner was friendly and someone to have a nice conversation with. I will be sure to pop by whenever I'm in London again and who knows maybe one day I'll be able to get one of the books. 😊

A bibliophile’s dream. Excellent selection of rare small press books, strong on poetry, plus some other hidden gems. I once purchased a fabulous sheet of marbled paper from the estate of an artist. The owner warms up quickly when one engages him.
