This place is really really good. We ordered the Shrimp and catfish combo's and, everything was Soo good. Also the sides are just amazing as well. Will definitely be back!

TODAY!!! this food was soo damn good Everything was seasoned to perfection, I know it’s mixed reactions about this place But on this day in my opinion was soo good, real gravy real mashed potatoes real damn good ONE OF THE BEST KC HOOD RESTAURANTS In TOWN!!

1st time.. in the area for wrk and personal.. ordered the Friday special (short ribs) that were more like neck bones lol…. But it was good.. 2sides came with.. ordered cabbage and black eye peas . Cabbage was mushy kinda like when you save the leftovers cabbage and mix with new.. but it was ok.. all the food was good except the muffins (cornbread) were cold and dry. Finish off with ice cream and warm apple pie by request (2.99 ice cream and 7.99 🥧) total bill $58.00 🤯 i know cost is up but almost 45+ for short ribs and 2 side. wasn’t that good for me so probably be my last visit.

BEST COMFORT FOOD IN KC‼️ If you want food that brings u back to yur grandma’s kitchen THIS IS IT‼️🥹😋 My belly & soul is HAPPY right now! This was our first time here and we’ve lived here our whole lives. It’s going to be our new go to spot for sure. Can’t wait to try more, but this is what reeled us in. I had the Meatloaf w/ mashed potatoes (yes they are real), green beans & a HOMEMADE roll‼️😋🥰🤤 My husband had the Smothered Pork Chops, corn, the BEST black eyed peas EVER & HOMEMADE corn muffins! Even though we can’t breathe from eating so much I had to try the Sweet Potato Pie‼️ It did not disappoint! 10/10 RECOMMEND So we have returned several times now and bring people to experience the Love in this food. The server was phenomenal however the food was not. The atmosphere reminds me of my grandma's house. It was so welcoming. I had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans. The meatloaf was terrible and apparently old. The mashed potatoes were lukewarm. The only thing that was decent was the green beans. After eating I immediately felt sick. It was not pretty. The food is mediocre and poorly cooked. I knew it was the food that made me sick because I started feeling sick shortly after I ate it. Highly disappointed as the food was overpriced for the quality. What a complete waste of money. I will not be back.

Ordered grilled fish, fries and a salad. Everything was fresh and hot, I enjoyed my dinner!

Haven't had a dish yet to leave my taste buds at a simple level of satisfaction! Just great food prepared immaculately accompanied by wounderful personable service. The German chocolate cake, really all of the cakes are baked to a science 😋!

Really appreciate the food and service here. A guest even paid for my meal today when they overheard it was my late dad's birthday. My server Cassie was really kind and gave me a great recommendation to order for my first time. Will absolutely be back.

Hard to believe this was my first visit to this KC staple. I stopped by because they're celebrating 40 years in business and offering a few menu items at their original prices, perfect excuse to finally check it out. I came in with a small wave of people and was seated right away. I ordered the bacon plate with scrambled eggs and potatoes. It was okay, not bad, but not super memorable either. At the throwback price I really can't complain. What really stood out was the vibe, very warm and community centered. Several customers were clearly regulars and greeted by name. It felt like a place where people feel at home, and I loved that energy. Service was quick and kind. I'm glad I finally experienced it and will return to try something else on the menu.

I recently went with a Meetup group and was really excited to taste this soul food iconic KC restaurant. I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up. My meal tasted like mediocre quality cafeteria style food. I had the baked chicken with greens and mashed potatoes and the chicken was a very small leg-thigh quarter that was really over salted but tender and cooked properly. The collard greens were the best thing on the plate, But still nothing to ride home about. The mashed potatoes lacked seasoning and were too milky. The gravy tasted like it was out of a can. Our tables food wasn't served at the same time and several folks didn't get their meal until most of us were almost done with ours. We all also ordered bread and for our entire table we got less than 10 pieces of small muffin sized cornbread and they charge $2 per person for it. The pricing In general was extremely expensive for the small portions and lackluster quality of food In my humble opinion.

Niecie's never disappoints!! We make it a point to stop here every time we come to Kansas City! It just so happened that Niecie's will be celebrating 40 years in business next month and plan on having great deals during the week days! Beat me there, don't meet me there! Me and my daughter ordered the same thing, catfish fillets with eggs and grits! My husband ordered the waffles with eggs and country potatoes. It's a lot of food for the price!

Outstanding!!! Holy cow!! This is our first time here at Niecie's Restaurant. My wife found this place when she was looking for soul food and I saved it on Yelp. I had no idea what was over here on Troost. This place is a total gem for our community. The interior is very nice and well kept. It is definitely a converted Pizza Hut. Charming and lovely. The staff is incredibly friendly and super professional. There must be some sort of wizard back there in the kitchen. This is seriously some of the best food I have ever had! My wife ordered the hamburger steak dinner, which really isn't on the menu, but they made it for her anyway. It was truly extra extraordinary! The green beans were just how we like. Mashed potatoes are all real and lovely. Very hearty! I had the chicken fried steak dinner special for $7.99. It's almost criminal at that price. It's the best chicken fried steak I've had in years and maybe ever. They also have a meatloaf, catfish and live & onions special for $7.99 after 5 pm along with the chicken fry. They close at 7 pm, so come on over for an early dinner. You will NOT regret it!! We'll be back a lot.

First time coming here. Stopped in on a Saturday morning. I had heard of this place for years. Minority, female owned restaurant. Decided on the chicken and waffles. They were some of the best I've ever had. 5 wings and a waffle. They also have the best coffee. Like I would just go there to get a coffee to go, on my way to work, if it was on my way. Service was great Cassie was very sweet and personable. Place is a pretty loud, so if you have hearing issues or anxiety keep that in mind. They do have space for big groups. They prefer your whole group is all there before seating. Parking is good as they have a fairly large lot. Place was busy when we arrived and still busy when we left. Checks this place out of you're in the area don't wait like I did.

The Pitch Sandwich Week 2025 This review is solely based on the special. Value 5/5 Taste 4/5 The turkey club ($6.99 special price) was a traditional lunchbox sandwich slathered in mayo and piled high with salty slices of crisp bacon, thinly sliced turkey deli meat, lettuce and tomato. This is a no frills sandwich but, the touch of toasting the bread to perfection took it up a notch. It was served with a classic ruffled chip that definitely came straight out of a giant sized bag. Even on a bustling Sunday after church service it took under 15 minutes to receive our sandwiches boxed up to go.

Here in Kansas City to visit my daughter Kyndal Lenae. Had to find a good breakfast spot to get my day started before starting my daddy duties! I tried the catfish and sausage gravy, both of which can be suspect, but here they were good. You can always count on me to find a gem in the neighborhood. Been in business for 40 years and I can see why. Great food and great service. Every employee checked on me and they greeted the regulars by name. Tawanna was the best, and the bonus is that her son is an Alpha! Definitely worth a visit if you are in Kansas City.

Diner Food, nothing more nothing less. Niecie's has been a staple in Kansas City for YEARS! I finally got a chance to try it out. The place isn't huge but I didn't have to wait, I visited them on a Saturday morning around 8am. I wanted French toast with sausage and eggs, because there isn't a meal like that nor will they let you substitute the pancake breakfast, I got the sunrise breakfast which includes eggs, potatoes or hash browns and your choice of protein. Their plates are a bit strange being the garnish they choose which is parsley and one single carrot... I know very random. The shining star on my plate was the French toast, it tasted like big momma was in the back kitchen whipping these up for me. It had great vanilla and cinnamon flavoring, they weren't soggy nor dry...they were just right. There is a juice that comes with the meal but it's so small you can consider it a shot glass. The second shining star on my plate was their seasoned potato's FANTASTIC! I wish all places seasoned potatoes were like this. The one thing about this restaurant is I didn't feel they were very welcoming, just because you have been in the city for years doesn't mean I know how you operate. They lacked to welcome people when coming in. I stood at the front and didn't know if I should seat myself or wait. They should also explain how things work when it's time to pay your bill. I waited at my table for at least 10 minutes with waitresses looking at me and walking by. I finally got up and went to the counter to speak to a man that visited all the tables in the restaurant but mine. I asked him how I should pay my bill and he said here at the counter. He then proceeded to say he wasn't going to ask me if I liked it cause I ate my plate clean..... The waitress seemed annoyed at me that I didn't know the specials and she just didn't seem like she wanted to be there. I am happy I tried it, but it's not a place I will go out of my way to come back to.

First time visit to this restaurant and the breakfast was amazing. I ordered a veggie omelet and expected a flat omelet but to my surprise the omelet was standing high and full of great vegetables. Toast was perfect too. I was so full after eating my omelet I couldn't eat the hash browns. Also my server Queen was very nice and continued to check on my table. Great job Ms Queen

Niecie's has the recipe for the perfect breakfast spot! You are greeted warmly at the entrance, and the restaurant always seems to be packed. Tables turn over relatively quickly, but it's worth the wait on the weekends! They have an extensive menu with tons of breakfast options. The food came out super quick! You pay at the register near the front door. There's a reason the chicken and waffles are "world famous." No gimmicks, no unnecessary additions or frills. Just delicious classic fried chicken and a tasty diner waffle with tons of butter. A hefty portion size! The parking lot is large but gets pretty full during peak hours! Can't wait to come back and try more!

I am so glad we you find this place. It is now my Go To when in KC. The food was good AND affordable!!! The service was stellar, our server was the perfect amount of attentive and the manager/owner I don't know which, made sure to take time out and great every one I. There. It reminded me a lot of an old school diner like the Blue Mirror in DC, so I really dug that. The food is amazing. The portions are just right. Not so huge that it makes you feel some type of way about it, but enough to fill yourself up and have something to snack on later.

I wasn't impressed food was cold, chicken was dried out. I was so looking forward to comfort food, expected more because of the prices.

At Niecie's, you'll be able to discover & divulge into Kansas City's hidden gem / diamond in the rough that serves the finest soul food that certainly comes with a smile. As a tourist in the KC metro area, as well as a musician attending the 47th Annual National Convention of NPM (National Pastoral Musicians), I definitely wanted to go & explore what's outside of the Sheraton Crown Center neighborhood - and little did I know, I'd end up way down south along the Troost Avenue thoroughfare - and here I am at Niecie's. They have a simple formula to keep customers coming back: serve seriously satisfying, affordable comfort food, and maintain the lightest and quite possibly friendliest atmosphere in town - where the host memorizes your name on first visit, and even the window washer greets you hello, and hopes you enjoyed your meal. Denise Hayes, owner of Niecie's, has been serving soul food to Kansas City for more than 30 years, both from the restaurant's original location on 59th and Prospect, and now from the one I visited at 64th and Troost - which have been open for business since 2009; bears the familiar shape of an old Pizza Hut, but its interior - clean, outfitted in floral wallpaper and with light tile flooring - certainly feels more like Grandma's house than a pizza empire. Traditional counter service (where the best conversations are always had) is available, as well as full table service. Unfortunately, I had gone for breakfast & wasn't able to indulge in Niecie's signature dish, that is Chicken and Waffles. The staff's t-shirts proclaim it the best chicken and waffles in town - and it would be difficult to disagree. A fluffy, inch-thick waffle, sprinkled with powdered sugar and served with a heaping spoonful of butter, is topped with three crispy, fried full chicken wings. You can eat the dish any way you like, but we may humbly recommend at least one forkful of the crispy chicken with skin along with a bite of syrup-coated waffle: savory meets sweet, crunchy and buttery. It is a satisfying portion but not overwhelming, and at under $16, it is also likely the most affordable chicken and waffles available in all of KC. You really could stop at the chicken and waffles and check out the rest of their menu, but the restaurant offers much more, and seems to be a particularly good Sunday breakfast spot. I can imagine throngs of people file in & out in their church finest, savoring hearty full-plate dishes including pork chops, a T-Bone, or even the incredibly-priced $6.99 Sunrise Breakfast, which comes with sausage or bacon, egg, toast or a biscuit that comes with fresh brewed coffee. You know I had to get that, given I went on an early Wednesday morning, and I was the only diner that the hostess didn't seem to mind my low key vibe! Haha! One can also just skip straight to dinner. Niecie's meatloaf is another star: it is tangy, moist and coated with a shimmery brown gravy that is dangerously rich and good. All dinner meals are served with two sides: options include greens, black-eyed peas, navy beans, macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes, and all are served with cornbread or dinner rolls. You have so many choices that it will be tough to decide! The daily specials board are by the entrance that feature items that you are unlikely to find almost anywhere else in Kansas City: overflowing bowls of navy beans with ham hocks are served on Tuesdays, or come Thursdays for the oxtails and pork neck bones. More conventional, though no less home-style, offerings include salmon croquettes on Mondays, or whole fried catfish on Saturdays. Dessert here is also a must, though it's understandable if you have to take it home. Guests can choose from homemade chocolate and caramel cakes, loaded with hand-swirled icing, or the restaurant's specialty: peach cobbler. Preserved, spiced peaches are baked under a layer of folded, butter-rich pastry, and the dish is served hot at the table. I ordered one for to-go, and I was also told that if dining in to eat right away, ice cream can be served on top by request. I definitely regretted that last part LOL. And the food is just part of the visit (perhaps the most important part, but still not everything). Many of the servers and hosts have worked at Niecie's for decades, and genuine warmth and friendliness is clearly part of the job. The fantastic service and consistently good food have proven to be Niecie's keys to longevity. May it last another 30 years and more - and I definitely would like to dine with them when I get a chance to be in the KC metro again!

First time here! Will be back to try more! Homemade soups are always a favorite for me. The ham & bean rocked! My friend had beef ribs that literally fell off the bone. Can't want to come back!

I was in KC and decided I wanted to try something local. After playing Top Golf I was ready to eat! My phone landed on Niecie's. DISAPPOINTED!!!! Ugh. But Not a total loss, liver n onions and gravy mash potatoes were good. Yams were missing a little more nutmeg and cinnamon and maybe sugar.... It might be canned!(clutch the pearls! And cuss the devil!!). The corn was BASIC certainly not sweet corn. It is possible this was that steamer bag corn, which is good but don't say it's sweet corn unless it is. I doctored it up at the table with butter, salt and pepper. The roll was room temp and not recently warm in other words day old. Pretty but I would rather it be warm The Mac n cheese I sent back. Soul food Mac n cheese is baked in an oven, this was some half effort stovetop mixture that was watered..... I would have rather they tried to make the shells and Velveeta at least the sauce would stay on the noodles. The chili was basic and came with two cornbread muffins. I think the owner is trying so no shade, BUT I think training the staff to make even the most basic BAKED Mac n cheese would garner points.

I had heard good things about Niecie's over the years, and they were all accurate.. the food here is fantastic! Lately I'm trying to lay off the heavier foods, but you know what, sometimes you gotta just roll with it. I met an old friend here on a super cold, rainy day and it was nice to get the full experience. It's soul food to the max, and it's done to perfection here. It looks like a traditional diner inside, and the menu is loaded up, including breakfast all day. I opted for a ham & cheese omelette with some veggies thrown in and was just blown away by how well prepared it was. The eggs were velvety (okay, buttery is probably more accurate) and the ham is like a smoked ham you'd get around Christmas.. none of this thin, deli meat nonsense. The crispy fried hash brown potatoes were a star of the show as well. I didn't eat the toast but it looked OK, just a couple slices of white bread. Service was friendly and efficient, and I would definitely come back here. It's going to have way better food than some of the trendy spots.

This is another one of those, "how come it took me so long to come here" reviews. Niecies has been open for 40 years and today was visit #1 (author hangs his head in shame), I've had it bookmarked on Yelp for probably 10 years and I enjoy home cooking / soul food and I love supporting independent shops on the eastside of the city, so I have zero explanation as to why, so I'll just try to forget my past failures and focus on going forward. After the belly bustin brunch here today, going forward or just getting out of the booth is quite a task. I couldn't make up my mind between two of my faves B&G and Chicken and Waffles, so I ordered the C&W and a side bowl of sausage gravy to satiate both of the demonic voices tugging at my internal emotions. Damn good gravy with tons of sausage. I sprinkled the hot sauce on top and alternated between dipping some wonderfully fried chicken wings in it and then just pretending it was a bowl of healthy oatmeal and eating it by the spoonful (author once again hangs his head in shame). The waffle was huge, malty, crisp and covered in a giant dollop of real butter that melted all over the grilled patterns of batter. The spreading of the maple syrup added the sweetness that gave my meal the full complement of all textures and flavors... sweet, spicy, crunchy, creamy, savory, cool, hot... everything but sour; definitely nothing sour about this experience. My wife enjoyed the open faced meatloaf with a mountain of mashed potatoes, smothered in brown gravy with a base of white bread. She loved it and I had a sample just so I could experience the brunch meat trifecta; I concur with her opinion. Our server was a professional. You could tell she was a veteran the way she moved at ease handling multiple tables during a hectic Sunday brunch time crunch. Loved the experience and meal.

We're visiting my daughter from Louisiana, and our meals were amazing!! We ordered from their 40th Anniversary menu( liver and onions, pork chop, and hamburger), sweet potato pie and lemon pound cake!! Everything was absolutely delicious, everyone was friendly and we had a great time!! Thank you!!!

The food was decent tasting and our server was attentive. However, there was nothing authentic or original about the experience. The sides of Mac n cheese taste like it was out of a box and the greens were definitely from a can and they just added seasoning. When we paid at the front, the cashier was busy having a convo with a server and made us wait until he was done talking to finish our transaction. Won't be back.

Classic spot in KC known for their chicken and waffles. In fact, when I think about chicken and waffles this is the first place that comes to mind. The chicken is perfectly seasoned and juicy and moist. If that wasn't enough, the waffle is perfect addition with that sweet syrupy goodness, topped with large dollop of butter. I can never make it past this dish, but I'm sure the other items on menu are also superb. We finished off with the Boston cream pie, they have a large selection of desserts as well. Service is always excellent and food comes out hot and fresh. 5/5 highly recommend! Solid food that is reliable each time.

Okay first when we first arrived no servers wanted the table. The cashier had to ask "who got this table". I want to add that the crowd that Niecie's is looking for has to be a predominantly Caucasian crowd or an older folks type of crowd that can't have any seasoning on their food. This was BY FAR the worst food I've ever had in my entire 28 years of living. I've worked at nursing homes and the type of food that was served to me today is VERY similar to what we serve old people. Mind you I called before I came and asked them are their greens homemade (made in house) they claimed it was but it definitely gave canned greens. I asked were there any meat in the greens they also told me over the phone that it was. There was NO meat in sight for them greens. Feel like I got played because I asked before driving 30 minutes out there. The chicken was very DRY maybe it's old or they cooked it too long. The spaghetti was like canned spaghetti as well. Limp noodles. No flavor. Chef boyardee spaghetti tastes way better than that!!!!! That is such a shame. On the other plate. The pork chops were dry as well. But it was the best thing that we had ordered. The gravy and rice were okay tasting tho so it was atleast edible. Them greens and spaghetti were not edible like whatsoever unless you're 60+ and need mushy flavorless food. I would never come back for dinner. Their breakfast I've had a few times and it was actually okay. But it's hard to mess up pancakes and eggs anyway. But the dinner was sooooo nasty that immediately after I still ended up having to drive to raising canes chicken place for my real dinner. Which I also might add is a lot cheaper anyway and ALOT more flavorful.

I have been many times. It has some of the very best food and awesome service by the staff. They make you feel like family. I bring my out of town folks here and they all love the atmosphere and great "Hot Food"! A ten in my book.

The best thing on my plate was the greens and on my husband's plate was the chicken. The black eyed peas were hard, which I replaced with spaghetti. The spaghetti was bland at best. The fried chicken was really good! It was crusty Ana had a great flavor. Our waitress was super nice, detailed and eager to please.

The food is always delicious, hot and served with a smile. The restaurant is always clean and the staff are both friendly and helpful with questions you may have about the ingredients in their food.

My husband and I tried Niecie's for the first time and it did not disappoint. It's a bit loud, but not in a bad way. Everyone was polite, prompt, and patient while I perused the menu. I ended up getting some delicious pancakes, eggs, and turkey sausage. My husband got the classic breakfast. Everything was cooked fresh and came out piping hot.

I love Neice's restaurant. There are not a lot of Soul food restaurant anymore around here. I am glad she is still here. Service and food are always great. Overall look of her business is still on top.

Highly recommended place for food with amazing taste and service. the price is much lower then other.

I ordered the 2 piece chicken dinner white meat,potatoes and gravy, fried green beans and a roll. The chicken was 1/2 breast and a wing. It was so over cooked it was dry like jerky, the potatoes were flat out nasty ,the green beans were a soggy greasey mess. Mt husband had liver and onions,mashed potatoes gravy and black eyed peas. The only thing edible was the liver and onions. Needless to say we will not be returning or recommending this establishment.

Still undefeated for breakfast in Kansas City! You gotta request crispy edges on your pancakes trust me it's a game changer. The service is still like you're at your family's house eating some good food. A interior update would be nice, but also there's something warm about the old decor.

I love the restaurant it makes me feel like I'm at home and all the servers are super nice. I like the chicken here but I cannot say the same for the mac and cheese, it was bland and super mushy . The Brisket sandwich was okay but not something I would order again.

I share this review simply out of care and concern and to help the restaurant do better. I have patronized this restaurant many times over the years and although the food has been good for the most part, there are several dishes that are overloaded with salt which is not good for anyone, at all! Please review recipes and make adjustments...especially in the dressing. The menu has a large variety to choose from which is great. There are also daily specials that make it worth the trip to save on a meal that might be a favorite. What really does it for me is the phenomenal service from the staff which has helped carry this business down through the years. Any establishment is only as good as the support team that it has. There would be no Niece's without loyal, hard-working employees, Period. There are some that have a long history of employment there which is to be commended (and rewarded...if there are no incentives given to all, Please do so). Also, it's been said that Niecey is not the friendliest/appreciative employer/owner and isn't warm or welcoming to her customers. I hope this is not the case. It's just nice to be nice. We all have much to Be Grateful for, just sayin'!

Came to visit our son and wanted some "more" soul food after Thanksgiving. Tried one place and it was closed so we decided to try Niecie's. I am from the area and had heard about this restaurant from friends who still live here, but was glad I tried it for myself. My husband, son and I enjoyed just about everything we ordered. We were greeted by an kind older gentleman who was seated at the counter by the door. He asked how many and told us where we could sit. My husband and I both ordered the short rib (special of the day). His sides were greens and yams. Mine were greens and northern beans. Our son order the 3 pc fried chicken, dressing, and greens. Short ribs were tender and well cooked perfectly just were a tad too salty. Greens, dressing yum yum and yum. Beans were not seasoned enough but well cooked. Chicken was fried and seasoned to perfection. Yams were good, but not great. Rolls And Cornbread - Yes!!! Our waitress was friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. She gave us suggestions as it was our first time there. Busboy had a bad attitude or disposition when we came in. He gave us water and silverware but kind of laid them down hard. I then saw him "toss" other wrapped silverware on the surrounding tables. When our waitress approached, he was passing by at the same time..she stopped so he could go by, but he told her to...when she did, he grunted and rolled his eyes. Rude! We also had desserts peach cobbler and German Chocolate Cake - both were delicious.

Unfortunately this was a major miss. However due to them being black owned I will not talk about the issues that I ran into with the food and service. Locals seem to enjoy but as a visitor and watching and reading comments you would think the food was going to be great.

The restaurant is one that you were falling in love with food and service ( Mother in all of them go there and you will feel the love and support of your stomach)

We were in town coming for a college visit and Niecie's was recommended to us and I'm so glad that we stopped in and tried it. The restaurant is a quaint little spot with big hospitality and even bigger flavor. We had the fried chicken plate white and dark meat, greens and corn bread, navy beans, mashed potatoes, and catfish fillets the food tasted like Sunday dinner at Grandma's. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned the only thing I could say was that the beans could have been cooked for longer they weren't very tender but had good flavor. Our server was extremely attentive and made sure everything was to our liking and corrected anything that wasn't which wasn't much. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the Kansas City area hands down.

My wife and I happened to be in the area, jonesing for lunch. We happened upon Niecie's and decided to give it a whirl. We were seated without waiting and offered drinks before being happily greeted by our delightful server Cassie. She was personable, candid, and energetic although I would be remiss to not mention we had to ask for silverware and later, a refill of coffee served in really small mugs. I opted for an omelette, potatoes, and a pancake. They were all wonderful, especially the potatoes. My wife had the chicken and waffles. She commented that the waffle was "light and fluffy" and shared one of the chicken wings but monitored my bitesize very carefully. Pro Tip: you need to pay at the register and Apple Pay is not an option. Frankly, I can't wait to go back. Those potatoes.....mmmm...

Today was the second time I've ordered peach cobbler from this restaurant; and it was cold. Not lukewarm but cold as if it was just taken from the refrigerator. Very disappointing when you pay for a service and you don't receive what you paid for.

Food was canned and not fresh. Decor was plain and uninspired. No fresh vegetables or fruit.

Second time at this restaurant wanted to try something different my order consisted of fish fillet yams and cornbread dressing. The atmosphere was very busy on a blessed Sunday the service was comforting. The food was hot and fresh the fish was very seasoned yams needed more seasoning and dressing was outstanding.

We went for breakfast and had catfish, grits and eggs. We were seated immediately and had fast service. The fish was fried perfectly and I will rush to get back here for more. The menu offers so many other tasty possibilities, including oxtails, pork chops and even liver and onions. I will be sure to catch this stop any given KC visit. (I always note the parking- private lot and free!)

Always good food , my grandparents love this place & has been going here for years. Hospitality was great too & nice service. The place isn't that big so definitely recommended small dining.

Excellent tasty crispy fried chicken! Huge waffles with wings! Best breakfast! Gorgeous delicious desserts! The best banana pudding in this town! I wish they had it every day! Old fashioned banana pudding!!

I came with my friend who said this place had really good fried chicken meals/soul food. So, I decided to check it out. I believe our server's name was Sharyn. She was very nice and friendly. She was helpful on telling us which entree was a better deal and what sides to pick with it. She gave us everything we needed in a timely manner, even when it got busy. I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken meal (Dark meat) that came with two sides. I got a side of Navy Beans and Mac n Cheese. It comes with a Roll of Corn Bread. I choose corn bread to try it. My friend got the same entree (White meat) but with the sides of mashed potatoes, candid yams, and the roll. I like the crispness of the chicken skin, but the rest of the chicken meat was a little plain. It would be better tasting if they had a good dipping sauce for it. The sides were not the best, very bland so I added salt and pepper to it. Overall, it was great service, but the food needs work on flavor and presentation as well.

I have been wanting to try this place for quite some time, and I guess this old man just had to get woke in order to do so. Leave it to COVID to get me out of my regular habits and into what I can definitely see becoming a new habit. My first visit to Niecie's was carry-out only, and thanks COVID, for, well, nothing. But still, pandemic aside, a Sunday morning found us in the southern part of the metro with hungry tummies. A quick phone call to Niecie's, an order was placed, and minutes later we were in a park enjoying breakfast. The boy, being the faux southerner at heart, did his daddy proud and sampled the biscuits and gravy, which were simply outstanding! Sausage gravy over handcrafted biscuits is always a measuring stick of a cook's patience, and Niecie's B&G is right at the top of it's offerings. I had selected the breakfast sandwich, and I wish I would have ordered two! Not because they're small but because they're so good! Even the chicken and waffles ordered by my foodie teenage daughter disappeared without so much as an empty butter container. Delicious! Next visit was a rainy Sunday morning and my lovely wife and I got to actually dine inside with our youngest. Our server was so friendly! The youngest can be shy and finicky but Tawanna made her feel so at home and special. She even got our daughter to order the pancakes from the kids menu (which we could not have persuaded her to do) and they were a definite hit! I asked Tawanna for her fave (the standard breakfast with the homemade sausage patties) and I was so thrilled with her suggestion! My wife's grits were perfectly cooked (can't sneak subpar grits past my New Orleanian) and she pronounced her breakfast to be perfectly cooked all the way around. I think we got out of there for some ridiculously low price, like maybe $19 for all three of us, and we felt like we had way more value than just the breakfast. The staff is taking precautions to sanitize, they are wearing PPE of their choice (masks or shields), and there is plastic separating the booths/tables. Maybe it's not possible to make it COVID-free forever, but I think Niecie's has done a great job with the measures they've taken. But it's the FOOD. And, it's the people. Like so many other places that I love, I wish I would have found it sooner. But now that I have, we'll be back - and frequently!

I was so dissatisfied. My pork chops were dry and the dressing was runny. My husband had to send his food back because the steak was so tough. The yams was ok . I'm normally ok but for over 50.00 that's was not worth it. The waitress was too busy trying to talk with her work people. This was not worth the money.

We recently visited Kansas City, MO. It was a great weekend in general and I had not been here in many, many years! We landed late morning and decided to grab some food since we had not eaten. After looking up a few places it was agreed that Niece's would be the place to try. It is a medium sized restaurant that sells breakfast, lunch or dinner all day. They were super busy but once we got seated and met our server, everything went well. While we don't remember her name, her demeanor was awesome. In fact she told us she was doing amazing, which is one of my wife's favorite words so it only got better from there. She was upbeat, professional, and positive. Our food was pretty simple; grits and omelette for me, chicken, Mac n cheese, and mashed potatoes for my wife. My food was great. The grits were warm, topped off with a bit of butter and the eggs were just right. However, my wife's plate was mixed. The chicken was fantastic but both sides were lukewarm, if that. There was great RnB music flowing through out the building too so the energy was really good. The bathrooms were a bit dated as was the aesthetics of the building. Go for the food, overall it was good and we rewarded our server with a generous tip. Hope I hope they update the place. Awesome energy, good food and great service too.
