I went after a couple of physically intense, stressful weeks. I was heading to Manhattan for a couple of other things, and thought it would be good to schedule a massage along the way.
I came with medium expectations (because if you haven't been to a place before, there's always an element of chance) and left with mixed feelings. I booked an hour, but it felt like less. Despite describing my sore areas prior to the massage, I was asked many questions throughout, which felt tiring. I was told how I needed to "take care of myself," (I already do, thanks) and go for 90 minute massages every week. Ultimately, I felt rather condescended to, and like more time was spent describing my stiffness + physical pain than attempting to remedy it.
To be fair, Mei did apply strong pressure to the points I requested, and that was good. But massages can be both strong and soothing, and I never felt like I was able to just close my eyes and fully relax the way I am at other places -- like at the Chinese-owned place close to where I live. I know that an hour is enough to alleviate a lot, since I go for massages often enough to understand this.
Also, there wasn't much after-service. They were nice, I will say that. But this wasn't what I was looking for.
