"The Amos Rex museum combines some of the best of old and new Helsinki amid striking architecture, much of which is below ground. The cultural institution showcases historic artefacts from the former Amos Anderson Art Museum and also hosts contemporary exhibitions in its cavernous interior. The vast space was created by hollowing out the earth beneath Lasipalatsin aukio – a public square that has itself been given a curvy and contoured makeover. Above ground, the architecture is no less impressive, with bars, cafés and a 590-seat cinema inside the functionalist 1930s gem that is Lasipalatsi."

The 21 Best Things to Do in Helsinki (Updated 2025)

"Opened in August 2018 and named after patron Amos Anderson, Amos Rex stages a rotating series of temporary exhibitions by local and international artists and has quickly become one of the city’s most popular modern art museums — I’m not a modern art fan, but I’ve heard the gallery’s exhibitions are really cool." - Matthew Kepnes

Amos Rex has a striking design and cool modern vibe, but the exhibitions can be uneven. Some are visually impressive, others feel a bit underwhelming. Worth a visit if you’re into contemporary art, but not a must-see for everyone.

A museum which advanced technology and art. You need time to explore the same. On Thursday the entry is free for public to explore the museum. In case you are interested in Morden art and kind of things like that you can visit the same.

It is 5 euros for a student. There are not many exhibitions. There are two exhibition rooms, one is large and the other is a small space. They gave me stickers with admission tickets, but they told me to put them on my clothes, so I just carried them around. Lockers are free. The bathroom was clean, too. I got a good impression on this exhibition. However, it seems a little expensive to see without a discount.

Mind blowing modern art, excellent layout. Don't sleep on the exterior where people of all ages play on top of conical structures straight out of a Dr. Seuss illustration.

Very cool and contemporary museum! Quite pricey for a regular ticket, but definitely worth the visit 🌟

It was a lovely visit, reminded me of my old school days when, as kids, we used to create such beautiful designs. What a lovely childhood memory to recall.

I went to look at the restrained Finnish art deco building. If you are into architecture, it’s worth a stop. May 2025.

Nice space, big art without substance. There better shows to see in Helsinki.

Yelp
Wonderful art museum in downtown Helsinki. They oftentimes have the most amazing exhibitions from across the world. Most genuine and inspiring exhibitions. Lovely atmosphere and great staff. Note that you don't need to buy a ticket in advance, it's always possible to get a ticket from the door, however sometimes there's a long line.
