Green Bench

I love GBB! This actually has a beautiful meaning behind the name. Colored people used to not be able to sit in green benches during segregation in St Pete. In order to make EVERYONE feel welcomed, ALWAYS, they named it Green Bench :) The service is always amazing and very blessed to be a part of the elite squad!

The beer is good but there are better breweries in the area (at least for their staples). However, this place has one of the better set ups. They have two bars, the main bar to the left when you walk on to the property and the experimental bar to the right. The experimental one isn't open all of the time but its always a good place to check out for anything new. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the beers on tap. On top of that it is very clean with ample space and very friendly for on leash dogs. They also regularly hold events in the center lawn area, including movie nights where they set up a projector for classic favorites. If you are hungry, there is an excellent burrito spot right next door and they let you bring food over.

This is one of those breweries that just feels comfortable to walk into. The people are very welcoming, considering how busy they always seem to be. There's a non-stop flow of people here. The decor is cool. They've got a whole industrial vibe going on but with enough accents and things that make the place feel homey. Seating was challenge. The courtyard is shared with the business next door, so there's a crowd there at all times from what we could tell. The beer itself was great. We had a flight and then grabbed pints of different brews. Mine was a dark stout. So tasty! We'll definitely come back. Might bring friends with us in February.

I joined Mike M on his Elite experience. This venue has a nice vibe. Most of the seating is outside but that what makes it great! I love people and dog watching. The beers were tasty. Some a little light for my tastes but the double was definitely my 1st pick of these choices. Stop in and grab a flight or a pint. You won't be disappointed! See you Soon!

Fantastic Experience I will definitely be back here to enjoy the vibes and great beer. Lauren and Dave checked me and got me all started. Lauren definitely knew her beers and recommended me everything I told her what I normally drink and she took it from there. The vibe is definitely chill and the beers are really tasty. When you in St Pete please check them out and next to them is a food truck that sells great food. It's plenty of places to sit and chill and enjoy with friends. No food is served here but it's a food truck near by that's really great and you're welcomed to bring your food with you to enjoy.

Love this Brewery! The beers are so delicious, and the atmosphere is definitely relaxing in the tasting room, also great service, and the other building you have the fun sports bar, and outside there is lawn games like Cornhole. Green Bench is such a great place to come any day of the week always something to do here. My favorite was the "Big Velvet" imperial stout aged 22 months in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels it's so decorate with its chocolate flavored notes in there one of the best Stouts I've had in a while. I'll definitely be back.

Greenbench IPA and peach cider were amazing! Loved the lighting and outdoor seating. Would absolutely go back.

I have heard a lot about Green Bench, and I finally decided to check it out recently. They have a large outdoor area, in addition to the indoor. The line to order was extremely long, and it took a lot longer than it should have. I am used to most breweries having a few cider options for those who don't like the taste of beer. I was disappointed to find out they only have 2 options. I got a flight with 2 of each one. I'm not sure if it was the end of the keg or if it was supposed to taste like that, but I was not fond of it. I was sad because it was a fun atmosphere otherwise. But, my friend and I headed to another brewery after with more cider and non beer options.

The vibes here were immaculate! They had a good variety of options. Just a heads up the parking is a little rough but other than that a great spot.

If you haven't already, you have to try green bench's amazing beer list! I remember when I tried out green bench for the first time over 10 years ago, they only had one IPA on their list and now they have a whole section of their menu dedicated to IPAs!!! That is so exciting to me!! I got to also try their light lager Beach Life. It was delicious and light but still rich and hoppy unlike your typical light beer. There were two IPAs I got to try, the Turbid and the sunshine city. The Turbid is a triple dry-hopped IPA with citrus notes and balanced well with Mosaic so it wasn't super dry. The sunshine city IPA was my kinda west coast IPA, with the perfect level of hops and dryness.

Love this place!! Excellent beer selections, great part of town to brewery hop, outdoor area is awesome, and the bartenders are always helpful and friendly. Couldn't ask for more (except free beer...that would be cool )

Staff here is knowledgable on all things beer, paired with the excellent selections from local breweries & their great wine + the sunset views? It feels like home! Working outside with a glass of gruner? Top of the line :)

Stopped in for a quick beer while exploring downtown. Service was friendly and efficient. They have indoor and outdoor seating which was lovely. They also have a cidery attached as well. I had the skyway hazy dipa which was great. Highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

One of my favorite breweries in the St Pete area. Their selection is always great and of course I have a few go-to beers that are always on the menu. Coffee Pot Bayou is always something I'm up for drinking. Even though they don't serve food they are fine with you bring food in and they are in a perfect spot to do just that. Lots of restaurant in the area with Bodega being my fav-right across the street.

Superb small batch craft beers, excellent service by all staff members who are very positive and passionate. We tried a couple different brews all were excellent. Most highly recommended.

I've only been here once so far but it was a very laid back, chill vibe. I think if I was with a group it would have been a bit more exciting because I was only with one other person. It's a big place though and it's definitely very popular with the locals. Conveniently it's next door to Red Mesa so you can check out both places in one night :) From what I remember the beer was pretty good and the staff was very friendly. They also have a large turf area where people mostly like to gather and groups even host small gatherings for celebrations. Next time will definitely plan a group outing :)

I love everything that green bench is about. They have great beer, great cider and wine. Their brewery on the inside is always clean and lots of seating inside and out and everyone is always friendly. They'll let you sample different beers before you order and the vibe is really cool laid-back. I love visiting. My only Qualm is that they have a little more variety in their beers selection. Other than that, I think this is one of the best breweries in the area.

My friends and I were going out after a Rays game and we decided to first stop at Green Bench Brewing for a drink. There's plenty of seating outside and service was very quick. We ordered a pitcher and a couple other beers including the Postcard Pilsner and Green Bench IPA. I loved the vibes outside and we were able to grab a large table for all of us. I really liked their beers and it was a cute spot for a casual drink.

Second time visiting St Pete, and this brewery was my first stop! Great location near lots of bars and restaurants. I ordered my lime lager inside and ventured outside to enjoy the beer garden and beautiful evening. This place has good vibes, lights, dogs welcome, and just people having a good time. The beer was so good that I grabbed a 6 pack to enjoy at the pool the next day. It's definitely a must-visit brewery in St Pete!

Incredible brewery and sour house that are must stops for any serious beer enthusiast when in St. Pete. I had one of their Czech pilsners on side pull that was crispy and had the best frothy head. In the sour room I had a pint of their black saizon and a 5oz pour of one of their collabs. They were effervescent, fruity and floral each with just enough tang to allow for maximum drink ability.

Great place to have a chill afternoon with friends. Great place and really good beer. I had the Honey Saison and was splendid! Wish they had more fans in the outside area, but besides that, I would be definitely visiting often.

While traveling through St Pete we heard about the great brews available at the Green Bench. History lesson, St Pete used to be know as city of benches and the green benches were a symbol of hospitality but they have a negative history in segregation as well. Well these Green Benches are available for everyone to enjoy! Large outdoor seating area and small indoor area. This is part of a larger area with other pubs and food in walking distance which makes it a must visit. Amazing customer service and great group of patrons. Sunshine City and Postcard are my two favorites but they have many available. And if you find one you enjoy always ask for a 6 pack to go! Give this place a visit, You will not regret it

Beers and ciders were amazing. Good service. Low key ambiance. Lots of folks and pet friendly. Their beers and ciders have won awards. But wished the offered some hot food. Would still go back here.

Such a delightful brewery in St. Pete! Every time I visit Green Bench, I'm glad I did. I love the outdoor space and their selection of beers, ciders, and kombuchas is great. It's also in a prime location off of Central, right by Tropicana Field. So many great spots nearby to grab food too!

Probably the best brewery in St. Pete and one of the coolest spots in downtown. If you're looking for a photo op they have their amazing "Greetings from Florida" postcard mural. Their outdoor area is expansive featuring a huge lawn with comfortable chairs and lots of room for kids/dogs/large groups. They also have tables outside in a shaded/fanned area to get out of the Florida heat and relax a bit more. Their inside is very industrial with a large bar the length of it and lots of tables as well. If you are coming here always check their Facebook. If they have an event going on, They. Get. Busy. Super super busy. I could rave about their whole setup but we need to get to the most important part: their beer. They have probably the most varied and largest selection of different types of brew of any place in St Pete. And not only that, they are ALL good. There is not a single bad beer. And they have all varieties, light beers, IPAs, Saisons. You use cannot for wrong. They have a beer called bench life which is an amazing light beer for those hot Florida days. I had a delightful experience the last couple of times I was here (November 2023). The service was very good and no fuss. Plenty of seating was available all over the mini courtyard. Beer selection was excellent and music was blasting! A great vibe all around.

Came in here on a trip to see my mom in Florida. While I was familiar with their beers, I had never made the trek to the brewery. The spot is nice and casual. Enough room inside, but even more outside. Of the two, I would say the outside space is the shining star here. And the location, near Central, make this a prime spot to hit before grabbing a meal. There is no food here, but there are places you can grab take out from, including bodega (great Cuban sandwich), so this is not a huge impediment. If you don't want to walk a block, there is also a place next door. The beer is, overall, average. Not great. Not bad. Just beer. I am not saying this a bad thing or a reason not to visit, as I would disagree with both statements, but you aren't likely to get your socks knocked off ... unless ... you go to their Webb City location right next door, which I will review separately. The big reason to go here would be the ability, with both the main brewery and Webb City, to hit notes that your entire friend's group will love. Add in a space that has plenty of room to enjoy the Florida weather and you have a great outing. I will return.

We came here for a beer before heading to dinner. This brewery is located close to Central Ave. There is street parking available around the brewery. It has a very casual vibe with indoor and outdoor seating (heaters are on the patio for cold nights). There is no food available on site, but they do allow outside food. They said there is a good Cuban place and Mexican street food close by. They had a nice selection of beers and as a person who doesn't like IPAs (gasp!), I appreciated the variety. I had the Pale Lager, which is a Munich-Style Helles. It was very light and easy to sip. My boyfriend had the Mighty Fragile, a London-style porter. I usually like porters, but this style has very low sugar and was too bitter for my taste. We also had one of the ciders (can't remember which) and it was just the right sweet:dry ratio. The bartenders were very nice and knowledgeable. They gave great recommendations and were having conversations with everybody. If you're looking for a place to just have a beer or hang out with friends, this is a great spot!

*** NON-DRINKER REVIEW *** I don't drink, but my husband does, so I tagged along and this is my review! I'm mainly focusing on the ambiance. We came here to grab a seat, and luckily there were plenty. They do have outside seating, but it was way too hot, so we sat inside along the wall. There is a nice window you can sit at and look out as well as lots of plugs, so I was happy. Plus, there is wifi. Originally along the wall it was only bar-stools, which is a bummer since I prefer back-supported chairs. However, I got permission to bring a chair inside, which worked out great and allowed me to work for a few hours without straining my back. I'm sure when the weather is nicer (or when it's night time), sitting on the patio is probably quite nice. Overall I enjoyed my time here, even though I'm not a drinker. The staff was very accommodating and my husband was pleased with the beer selection. They also have some ciders and mead if you are into that sort of thing.

Parked just before a Rays game and saw a buncha folks heading in so hubby and I decided "why not." We are always down for a new brewery! Outside seating area is quite large and inside was definitely smaller than expected, but service was prompt, informative and loved talking about their beers! Was a lil sad there wasn't a seltzer option due to my allergies, but that's okay! Beer prices were a lil high compared to most, but I enjoyed my citrus IPA even though I knew I was gonna itch later! ;)

The staff was knowledgeable and able to help my parents select beers they would enjoy. Really enjoyed every selection we tried. The outdoor space was great for enjoying our drinks and food truck purchases. We are excited to visit Green Bench again in the future!

I was looking forward to visiting Green Bench, as the beers I've had on tap in and around Orlando have always been pretty tasty. Unfortunately, the staff the was on shift when we visited were not very friendly and seemed annoyed they had to take care of us. This puts a huge damper on my mood and it honestly made me want to get out of there quicker to go to our next spot. I had the dry Irish stout with coffee (forgot the name) and I really enjoyed it. I did not get any beers after that, as I was ready to leave just because of the vibe/bartenders. The place seems like it could be cool on weekends, as they have a nice outdoor space. The space inside is a bit small, but has plenty of seating. 4 stars for the good beer and atmosphere, no stars for the service.

Best location, best service, best IPA, best vibe. Just get your *** to the Green Bench and have a great time. Go see the best beertender in town lauern

If you're a Stout connoisseur, this is your spot! Bartenders are awesome and have great energy! A little pricey but you get what you pay for. Love the atmosphere.

First time here. Was visiting family and we hit up the brewery on Memorial Day. Had an overall good experience. Good beers. Definitely appreciate the large fans outside to help beat the heat. Cool atmosphere overall The part that was a bit of a bummer was the server. I get it was a holiday, but it wasn't overly busy and I've seen men about to get a prostate exam with more excitement and pleasant. She seemed miserable, made getting the beers a bummer. Anyway, probably just an off day for her. Would check out again

Still tryung to catch up on my beer reviews since the pandemic arrived. It's been a lot of work and I became a lazy yelper so now the hard work is finally catching up to me. Green Bench was a brewery that Steve and I tried earlier in the pandemic. We just tried one of their beers and felt like it was fair. We had the pilsner, Between You & I. As I said it was just okay. Pilsners are often a favorite of mine as they are light, crisp and often have a good biscuity flavor to them. I felt this one was lacking a bit. It gets all the badics for a pilsner down but just didn't have that extra push to make very memorable.

Went to green bench for the first time and had a great experience! It's a nice outdoor/indoor space (plenty of room for a group of people) with additional seating next door with a cooled space with couches and comfortable seating. We chose to sit outside because it was a nice day, plus they have fans to help keep you cool. It is also dog friendly! As for the service and of course, the beer, also all great! Don't recall The name of our server but he was all on deck to help us first timers make a decision on our beers. I got the lime light, which tasted like a good lager with a nice squeeze of lime in it. My friend got the guiding bolt which I believe was an IPA which I enjoyed more than mine, and my gf got the raspberry cider which was my least favorite of the group, but not bad. I would definitely go back since it's in a fun part of st Pete and has a great atmosphere with good beer.

Green Bench is a good spot. Not far from the Trop and beer selection is good. Folks were friendly & music being played (alternative rock 90's to current) was very good!

I have been loving this brewery for five years now. Before I moved to StP, I loved coming to town and enjoying the biergarten. The beers are made to style and always satisfy. They have many different types and styles to try every time you visit. In addition to their great beer and location, the staff is absolutely top-notch!

My favorite brewery in St Pete! Great atmosphere, staff, and beer. I'm a sour beer drinker and regularly get the Alice. Went on a Monday evening and sat at the bar, lots of outside seating and good for larger groups.

We loved this place! What a great outdoor setting, plenty of tables, umbrellas for shade, lots of space! The beers were good too. I had the Deutsch Langhaar, which is a Dunkel. Was a favorite, even for those who got flights and sampled several beers! Looks like there is a large screen and projector, that would be fun! We were there on a warm day with a dog and they are very dog friendly. Nice vibe, lots of other folks enjoying the space. We visited several breweries in St. Pete and this got the top marks from our group!

Had a wonderful time here with my fiancé. He tried a light lager and I tried their kombucha. This was genuinely the best kombucha I've ever had!! The location was also very chill and laidback; they have a outdoor area with seating and tables for people to hang outside the bar. Something we really appreciated was that the music wasn't blasting. All-in-all a fantastic experience and I can't wait to go back!

Great place to chill and enjoy your company and try some brews. Lots of inside and outside seating with busy energy. Amazing variety of beers, ciders and even a very nice mead that we tried. In a good part of town with lots of places to eat all around. Give it a try

Love their beer! We've been here a dozen times on Fridays and it's become a hub for families. We have a blast grabbing burritos and hanging out with friends for a few hours on the lawn. Awesome vibe. Check this brewery out and get the IPA!

Cool brewery with well made beers, great location for pre/post drinks when visiting The Trop. Water tap outside. Nice glassware. They had a cellar concept next door. I don't think they have food.
