Onion bhaji, Tandoori chicken and lamb chop were heavily seasoning but tasted good, naan bread and roti were very good, mutton dosa was bit too soft but mutton tasted nice, lamb and chicken curry were both good. Seats were bit too close to each other. It took a long time for food to come but at least you could taste it’s fresh.

First visit to one of the Tamila family and head over heels! Started off with the much recommended Fried Baby corn and understood why - was deliciously crunchy! The tandoori chicken with the spicy South Indian twist was awesome and the paneer butter masala with the flaky rotis left our tummy and soul filled up. Service was excellent - polite, informed, efficient and good recommendations. The toilet was one of the most beautiful ones I’ve been to of late. There’s bit of outdoor seating but the inside seating is nice and quite a few covers. Coming back for more, soon

On service alone, this place is 5 stars thanks to Aurora being the kindest, most attentive and knowledgeable server. It was a bonus that the food was fabulous too! Stand outs for me have to be the chilli cheese dosa and the lamb curry especially, but everything was delicious. Aurora guided us through what suited us best and how many dishes to get, which left us perfectly nourished and satisfied by the end! We’d go back simply for Aurora, but we’ll be back to try more of the dishes again soon.

Delicious food! We went for the onion bahjis to start, the lamb dosa, the 1/2 tandoori chicken, the Dahl curry, the paneer curry, garlic naan and pilau rice. It’s great for a celebratory meal! The service was great and very fast. Would go again!

We visited Tamila for lunch on a weekend and were able to get a walk-in table (which we weren't expecting). The staff were extremely friendly and helpful (the person looking after us went out of her way to pack us an extra portion of dip for takeaway because I mentioned that our toddler really liked it). The food and drinks were top-notch, - presentation, quantity, taste met expectations. The ambience is warm and inviting, though the way the restaurant is laid out is a bit non-standard and makes it look sparse (not that I'd hold it against them, but it's more of an observation). Glad that it was a good experience because the Tamil Prince and Tamil Crown are much further away!

This place is Northcote roads best new Indian!! I had an all round absolutely amazing experience and could not recommend it more to anyone in the area. We went crazy and got a ton of food. The onion bhaji - fresh, crunchy, unbelievable. The fried baby sweet corn - never had it before, so good!!!! The chili cheese dosa - WOW TO DIE FOR!! The paneer curry - best I’ve ever had in my life. Put simply, all of the food was unreal. We ordered the mango soft serve but the machine was broken. They came back to us and gave us the gulab jamin on the house!! It was also so damn good. This place has great vibes, good prices, and the staff are awesome. 10/10 you need to go here if you’re reading this!!

A firm favourite since we first visited after reading about it in The Telegraph. Modern, simple, stylish, and always delivers. This time we had the tandoori chicken with dahl, coconut rice and the roti — all packed with flavour and served quickly by friendly, engaging staff. On a previous visit we tried their masala dosa — a sleeker, folded version with a thin layer of potato, a big step up from the traditional “bog roll” style. After 30+ years of eating dosas in Tooting, I can say it works far better. The Telegraph called it the future of the curry house — I agree.
